How did it get such good reviews?
It's all the worst aspects of Souls games, but 10 times worse.
Like someone made a full game out of Chalice Dungeons, or Elden Ring's catacombs.

New patch dropped
AI
The "snipers" at Pilgrim Perch have had their aiming capabilities revised. They now have a high chance of missing their shots when the target is beyond 15 meters.
Balancing
After noticing that players were often disregarding status effect resistance rings and runes, we've decided to give them all a noticeable boost to make them more competitive with other types and incorporate them into some builds.
Slightly increased the second hit damage for one-handed Grand Swords' forward heavies to match it with its slightly slower animation.
Quests
Fixed an npc corpse that was interactable before meeting the proper quest requirements.
Modified "the moving merchant" to sell 2 copies of the Slave Hunter Dagger, encouraging players to explore the dual-knives dual-wielding stance, which may be slightly overpowered and subject to potential nerfs in the future.
Others
Several throwable items have been adjusted to eliminate camera collision properties, preventing undesired "zoom-ins".
Text spilling on "Attack Power" has been resolved for several languages, including french, italian, brazilian portuguese and Spanish.
A streaming volume issue at the Fief of the Chill Curse has been resolved to prevent players from falling into the void while the map wasn't fully loaded, particularly for players like Auteru.
>encouraging players to explore the dual-knives dual-wielding stance, which may be slightly overpowered
They are absolutely trolling, what a bunch of clowns
Although what they probably mean isn't any of the regular moveset at all and just the LB+RT spin attack on double daggers, which has a very high motion value. That's basically the only reason to ever use that weapon combo in the first place because the dual wield moveset is shared between nearly every weapon in the game and so doing the same moveset with the smallest and weakest weapon is a disaster.
So they didn’t fix arbalests and snake snipers? What a bunch of clowns
The ones in Pilgrim were bugged to shoot way further than they should be. Literally from across the map. You can see why people would get butthurt by them
Crossbowmen and Snakebreasts are more manageable. Though I wish they would reload their crossbows per shot
Does frost apply damage when it pops?
I think we broke him, boys
Frost does a burst of damage to HP and posture once it procs, assuming you mean PvE. Really, really good. Almost all Wither weapons also apply Frostbite.
Speaking of Wither, it's fricking great with that Consecrate spell. Just constant damage preventing the enemy from getting HP back even if it hits you.
The Talon claws from the frost area are pretty good because of frostbite. In my opinion one of the few weapons that can compete with pieta. They lose out on range but the damage feels superior
>Does frost apply damage when it pops?
it does
>After noticing that players were often disregarding status effect resistance rings and runes, we've decided to give them all a noticeable boost to make them more competitive with other types and incorporate them into some builds.
lmao
Nothing short of actually giving status immunity would make those rings worth it when the game only gives you two slots.
To be fair, casting spells inflicts those debuffs on yourself. I can see someone slapping a ring on to prevent himself from getting smited on accident.
Unless you're facing an enemy that also inflicts those statuses, the build up amount from spells is low enough you'll probably run out of mana before you explode yourself. At least that's how I've seen it with Umbral spells, maybe fire and holy ones have higher buildup rates.
I put one on if going through an area focused on that status...
I can't remember the last time anything afflicted status on me. I'm running light armour, I will die to the physical damage before an enemy with a bleed mace applies bleed.
At least they're not nerfing other shit to force players to use them.
>nerfing enemy AI because players are too stupid to approach levels strategically and just want to unga bunga roll and R1
just like elden ring.
Not sure if i should blame "souls veterans" who are total dogshit at these games but pretend they arent or the newbies to the genre.
>Not sure if i should blame "souls veterans" who are total dogshit at these games but pretend they arent
It's always these types. "I beat Gael and Midir so any game that inconveniences me slightly is obviously le unfair"
Call me when the bosses get a 50% nerf to their HP. They are so fricking boring to fight.
>DOUBLE DAGGERS ARE SO OVERPOWERED WE WILL NERF THEM
Where do I go from here? Just pump STR to 40-50?
What build are you going for? Soft cap foe Vit is 40, IIRC.
I'm guessing Ii'm being utterly original by doing STR/RAD, but I'm not completely sure. I'm just doing RAD for the item descriptions and weapon buffs, I usually don't do magic in Souls games. Just been using the Crimson Rector sword and a basic b***h Short Sword for the whole time I've been playing.
I think getting radiance to 12 or something to get basic buffs is the smartest play. I'm doing no spells at all and I suffered hard in the early game.
Now I got some super powered up javelins that do 800dmg per headshots so I've got a ranged alternative but early one I had the shitty hatchet
>Flopped
OH NO NO NO DISCORD SISTERS HAHAHAHAHAHA
you are a worthless moron shill
I can sense the seethe. It sustains me
you are a worthless moron troony shill
Stay upset
You can get more manastones cheaply from the vendor in the hub. I think they go for a measly 200 or so. I'd stock up on those
you are a worthless moron troony shill
it's already out of the top 10
STOP THE COUNT
Like honestly, who the frick is going to buy lord of flops when elden kino is 20$ cheaper?
Is there a non-consumable way to restore mana or are the blue stones the way to go?
There is a rune that restores 2 MP/s. Doesn't sound like much, but it actually provides a TON of help during level exploration. I could spam my spells without a care in the world.
>2nd area
>worse than any endgame area
>it's blight town but 10x bigger
>with shrine of amana snipers everywhere
i feel like this game is designed for players to just sprint from point a to b with how many enemies are around every corner. i normally kill everything at least once in soulslikes but holy shit theres always 10 more waiting
It's crazy to me that pieta's sword is the strongest 1 hand weapon in the game and you get it that early
Insane range with good damage and a free holy buff proc with good chance if you dual wield
Frost build up weapons are also onpar with holy proc
However most of the weapons with frost you get has lower base damage than pieta
ive just started and think im gonna fight her soon, but how can you dual wield two of the same weapon? wouldn't she only drop one or do i not understand how dual wielding works
Getting boss weapons in this game doesn't consume the boss' soul, so there's nothing stopping you from getting two copies of the weapon on your first playthrough.
when you buy boss items they're gone from the vendor
everything I've bought is gone and I'm at the end without any restock
not that early; you still need to get the bowl from pilgrim's perch and pay the prawn fee
it costs 40 umbric and has a high radiance requirement
all of which can be gotten easily 1/4 into the game
Don't care
Still enjoying the game
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Just wish they wouldn't lock a class and dyes behind dlc
Used a dlc unlocker for them but the game has EAC so I removed it in fear I'm banned.
fwiw, I don't even use those dyes because the ones you find are better. I like the "icegrip" palette
and also the class is kinda useless. I wasn't going to pay extra for either of them because they aren't worth it
the game is worth it tho
I did first played with that class and found it really op, made a new char with the bloodborne-like starting set and it's kinda harder but more fun I'd say
imagine wasting years of your life on some shit like this who just drops and then tanks
how in the frick do you even deal with that?
Literally what your mother did, yet here you are, posting on anonymous forum complaining about a game you don't like, ask her.
personally, i thought the exact opposite
the level design (later game) is almost DS1 levels of good
some of the zones reach bloodborne's atmosphere levels
my only gripes are with the balancing: bosses are fun but too easy, enemy density in some places is absurd, magic is multiple orders of magnitude more powerful than it should be
it's by far the best soulslike, i'd even rate it higher than ds3 and definitely ds2
i'm convinced 90% of the criticism for this game is raw conjecture and fabricated by turdworlders filtered by their own shitty hardware
>bosses are fun but too easy
meanwhile we have morons complaining frequently that pieta is too hard
Her entire first phase can be beaten with just the dodge button and R1.
the bosses being easier but the world being harder is exactly what I wanted from these games. Bosses are often walls that allow for little creativity.
I prefer the challenge navigating this overworld. Like Blight Town, but better sexier looking
I tried it, but couldn't get over how the combat felt. Does it get better? I prefer playing with heavy weapons, but the strength class starts with a longsword. Enemies also just locked onto me, seems like deflecting was important but the animation locking felt awful
Blighttown was always harder than the boss at the end of it, I remember it being a nightmare 1st play through and not being at all prepared for it, just don't like that style of hard, poison and falling off ledges, I do like a challenging world with strong Black Knight type enemies walking around, will I like this game?
meant for
>bosses are fun but too easy
I think we're playing different games or my character build is just flat out shit
Apparently Radiant builds are OP since you get Pieta's stuff so early and it's so strong. Inferno gets good stuff too but only way later and the existence of good scaling weapons with magic stats makes physical stats a joke. Why would I level Strength when there's an ultragreatsword that only requires Inferno and also only scales with it?
Just use double spears. Buy one from first merchant in hub and second lies before first encounter with ragged guy
bosses can be hard early on but as long as you pump your damage stat and level hp to 40, it's a joke, most later bosses I killed first try, only some took two tries.
Thats ALL souls likes anon
nah, this game has blatantly easy and shitty bosses, literally none of them pose a challenge beyond the early game where you're weak as hell.
Same. I have found the bosses to be a serious challenge
Imagine being worse than a journalist. Even IGN said that the bosses are too easy.
holy shit consider kys
>the level design (later game) is almost DS1 levels of good
you are lying, I've played 15 hours, it's garbage maze for the sake of maze
People who like souls games are often extremely biased and give fromsoft the benefit of the doubt for every little thing then nitpick and make up stuff in their heads for why a soulslike isnt good. for example one guy i watched who was good at soulsikes said that Pietas attacks were too hard to dodge and could have been telegraphed better, im talking the normal sword swing attacks.
The combat itself is floaty janky garbage
>higher than DS3 and DS2
Shill or legit insane moron with dogshit taste, this game looks and plays like an amateur tech demo.
DS2 and DS3 are complete ass turds that fundamentally misunderstood DaS and DeS. This game understands what DaS and DeS were about and feels much more like a sequel to those games than those games could ever wish to be.
DS2 was the last time a Fromsoft game even slightly tried to evoke the spirit of Demon's Souls, frick out of here.
Yeah I’m sure you, a random basement dweller anon, knows how to evoke the style of des and ds better than from does, you fricking moron
Nu-From is all about epic anime boss fights and give 0 shits about world and level design. Even the best legacy dungeons of ER, Leyndell and Stormveil, are extremely non-threatening, you are not dying to anything, no encounter requires more than braindead ungabunga.
This is NOTHING like Dark Souls 1. Why do you think people remember Sen's Fortress fondly? Do you think it's because of the mediocre Iron Golem fight waiting for you at the end of it? Frick no. Going through Sen's Fortress and getting past all the bullshit it would throw at you was peak DaS1.
>Why do you think people remember Sen's Fortress fondly
Same reason why newbies remember blighttown, it was their first experience of shitty miyazaki design, while deschads already saw worse in 5-2
sen fortress was badly designed trash with same shitty mob placement we saw in all future from games
zoom zoom
yes, we know that you are zoomer and das was your first game, "prepare to die again and again" lol
Artorias was the beginning of the end for Fromsoft. They never recovered from that.
>are extremely non-threatening
It's still far more threatening than everything and anything from DaS1
It really doesn't hold up well in difficulty, mang
>Why do you think people remember Sen's Fortress fondly?
Because they were making their baby steps in the game? Sens isnt any more difficult than random imp catacombs #8
You're really looking back at things with very rose-tinted glasses when it comes to difficulty
You have never played Dark Souls 1.
I did though, I played them all bar DeS because I never got a PS3 and I'm not buying the shitty bluepoint remake
I just dont hold its difficulty in misguidedly high regard because I already was familiar with ARPGs and Action games
That doesn't mean its not atmospheric or fun though, but DaS1 bosses are pretty straightforward and every level in FROM roster bar
>Sens
>pre-nerf release state Shrine of Amana
>Undead Crypt forma de la Vanilla
>some deep root Chalice dungeons
are utterly obliterated by the mighty "Invoke Legs" spell where you can just run past the enemies and neither the level nor the enemies can do much at all. That applies to ER Legacy dungeons as well
They really should be adding more enemies that can punish players running willy-nilly, like labyrinth sages/madmen, and bring back getting hit out of the fogwall animation
>They really should be adding more enemies that can punish players running willy-nilly, like labyrinth sages/madmen, and bring back getting hit out of the fogwall animation
They tried that with DaS2 and the entire playerbase threw a shitfit including Ganker
Yeah, and they even changed the Undead Crypt enemy layout in SotFS so that the syan knight trio doesnt slap your shit when you try to run past them and fight Velstadt, I know
There can be argument made that modern Souls shit is more of a boss jerk off fest but level design shouldn’t regress because people wanna go back in time to when bosses were a joke. Lies of P level design isn’t as inspiring as Froms best but its enemy placements were good and made fricking sense even in places where the devs were giving you the middle finger. In LoTF it honestly feels worse than fricking Demon Souls. Some shit is just cheap for the sake of being cheap even by past souls standards. Even Sekiro understood how enemy placement should be.
Lets assume we're having a real conversation and not doing a marketing thing:
Good points:
>Game successfully pulls off large group fights by throwing lots of very weak enemies at you
>Constantly respawning pressure in Umbra feels novel
>A lot of enemy animations do clearly indicate the timing of the attack correctly
>Dodge/parry defensive options are well balanced against each other
>"Ranged points" system with ammo respawning at bonfires is great and lets you play with more consistent combat options
>Level design is mechanically pretty decent
Bad points:
>All animations LOOK awful even if they indicate timing well
>Players and enemies slide into each other on rollerskates with every swing making spacing a farce
>Performance is dogshit
>Almost all weapon movesets are the same, lots of attacks are pointless
>PvP is unplayable and a complete write off
>Art style is the generic western fantasy slop where you just take medieval europe and then put SPIKES AND THORNS AND BLOOD on literally everything
>Your head has spikes on it, your shoulders have spikes on, your lantern has spikes on, your sword has spikes on, your ESTUS FLASK has spikes on
>Umbral realm starts at 100% density in the very first zone and you instantly get bored of looking at giant grey corpses
>The umbral realm continues to look exactly the same through the entire game so there's no changes in atmosphere or slow reveal of hidden horrors, just grey corpses from beginning to end
>light weight armour/builds aren't well accomodated and everybody should go medium
>Enemy pathing barely works so enemies continually get stuck on the floor and you can range everything to death
>UI elements are either shit or broken
Finally
>Game is caught in some kind of arms race between super speed iceskating players, 20 meter rolls and super speed iceskating enemies where each is trying to compensate for the other and the result looks farcical
Oh I forgot to mention that inputs do not buffer correctly in lots of different places especially when trying to buffer into held R2s. There will be countless more issues but I'm working and not straining too hard to remember.
This is the biggest fricking homosexual iv ever seen on this board. You need to change the way you speak because you shit post so often we can recognize your speech pattern you baboon

Magic is really fricking fun once you get everything going. Standing in magic circles of healing/protection while launching a giant nail and having ghosts of my gf to kill people is sick. Only issue is mana being so limited. I know you can just use stones, but it still feels like I'm running out more than I shouls.
How does the game run on Xbox Series S? is it playable? Does it look like shit?
Medium shields.
>Lucent Sword Shield
>Heavy shield level reduction
>Second highest stability
>Third in weight
Am i missing something? It's OP.
The Rune that decreases stat requirements and weight to 0 is so fricking good
But you're killing sparky for it!
He lives on as a really good rune.
So its exactly the same as the original? Whoda thunk

I've wasted money many times, it's just something that happens, and from my experience you'll feel way better if you just get over it instead of trying to cope on the internet.
It's a good game, stick with it. I felt like you at first, didn't like the lamp mechanic or the early stage but it gets better after pilgrims perch.
Can someone explain which is burn and which is ignite? I got a secondary rune to increase ignite build up but I don't know if it works with this weapon
Top is burn, bottom is ignite. Your weapon has no ignite buildup at all.
I like the basic b***h names they gave the weapons, it has a weird charm to it.
>righteous pulverizer
>faithful bludgeon

When you die, why does the boss follow you to umbral without dying?
When boss dies, why don't you follow him to umbral?
it's because of the lantern. you have the lantern; the boss does not. when you're a revenant, you're seeing both worlds at once, effectively.
>when you're a revenant, you're seeing both worlds at once
So the NPCs just see you swinging your sword at thin air and getting hit by nothing? Creepy shit
>NPCs just see you casually walk on thin air everytime you walk on an Umbral-only path
>Be me
>Crimson Rector, have absolute faith in Our Lady
>Find some disgusting blasphemer running around sacred ground
>Have him trapped, there's nothing but a gate between behind him
>he just walks right through it and then starts throwing some weird shit at me
>a full game out of Chalice Dungeons
I wish that was true
Chalice Dungeon FRC Roots are probably one of the most fun and also hardest levels From has made and they also contain not only Sens Fortress traps everywhere but also unique AI models not found in any other game they have made, which results in a very unique encounter design, by accident probably
Did they nerf the first boss yet?
bro just roll and hit her
parry her. this is a parry game.
>NOOOO BUT MUH CHIP DUMUG IM SUCH A FRICKIING moron AND HAT THE CHIP DAMUG
stfu you drooling fricking moron you gain it all back in 1-2 attacks. this game has the least risk while still being high reward parries in souls. The timing are ridiculously easy.
You can just block
yes it's the same button
Did anybody mention the PS2 particle effects? It wouldn't even be a problem if the game wasn't so graphically demanding despite having some of the worst particle effects I've ever seen.
>the blood in the post Pieta cutscene
Literally pre PS1 level. It looks like someone rotoscoped a claymation.
>the blood in the post Pieta cutscene
Isn't that intentionally? Since the background is clean.
NVIDIA WON
THANK YOU NVIDIA
we all lost

4К was a mistake. Anything higher than FullHD is a mistake.
>NVIDIA WON
You absolute low-IQ cum-gargling gayit. The average price for an RTX 4080 is $1100 USD. The average price for an RX 7900 XTX is $1000 USD. Both cards are enormously overpriced for what they are. The cryptocurrency craze is over. Those cards should be in the $500 to $600 range and no higher. Both Nvidia and AMD and their supply chain companies are owned and operated by the most greedy people in the industry. All of those companies deserve to go bankrupt, and here you are waving the banner for them. Consider flinging yourself off a tall building.
I can get a 7800XT for $500, that's good enough for me
You keep fighting that good fight little buddy, and vote with your wallet! It's Nvidia's fault that your 1060 sucks now, stay strong!
You have 5 minutes to give me 1 reason why you would want to heal on a boss fight before you go to the umbral realm. Rules: dont mention any of the bosses whos gimmick is their umbral realm is harder.
Healing is weaker in the umbral realm because half of the health you recover is withered
It's pretty good. Bosses are shit and there are too many enemies in the umbral realm along with some other complaints, but the dark fantasy world is great and the level design is pretty good too.
how to get more respec items? NPC sells just one?
Can you do pure magic build in this? Like just using magic and not physical weapons? Or do you just run out of mana or something?
you can't
you run out of mana way too fast and you don't get enough mana items unless you're willing to farm a frick ton
there's a mana regen ring and farmable consumables

YIKES.
Just beat Hushed Saint and i've explored around alot including getting to the entrance of the snowy mountains but i have to know
Where the frick is the infernal spells and weapons?
9 hours in and im still running around with the first axe you find in the village and throwing basic ass fireballs.
Atleast i got the damage buff from the lady.
>Where the frick is the infernal spells and weapons?
continue after the swamp, don't go to the frost area
Thanks Anon.
Talk to the captain next to hub checkpoint, he gives you a key to the door at the village
where's the way to the snowy mountains? the infernal stuff is in the burning city, btw
Did you not rescue the fire vendor lady from below the bridge? That gets you a kinda crappy flamethrower spell.
the one who is chained up and you can't understand what she is saying? How do you rescue her?
Idk why morons hate it so much, it's not that bad
because lies of P did it better
Did it really tho? The level design is dogshit, enemy variety is horrible, there is no exploration at all, everything is a linear corridor. I enjoyed Lies of P but there are plenty of things that LoF does better
>enemy variety is horrible
The only way you could say that is if your view of enemy variety is puppets/carcasses/humans.
Lies of P has probably the biggest enemy variety of any soulslike. The game introduces a new enemy every couple of steps, some of which you only ever see once or twice in the entire game.
How can you be so disingenuous?
>Lies of P had the most enemy variety of any souls game
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHSHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHSHAHAHAHAAHAHA HOLY FRICK
it literally does - the amount of enemy variations is insane. you're a troony. you got filtered by P. you'll never pass like P. enjoy your slop mixed review game LMAO
>you'll never pass like P
The absolute state of Ptroons
It's the insane indian with a hatred for asiatics, don't bother replying to him.
You're a troony
I like the game, the enemy variety is dogshit tho, and there's no exploration. Level design sucks etc
>you didn't play it
>no it's not
>and?
>no it doesn't
> I did play it
> this is my opinion
>You are a fricking troony homosexual
show hands
enemy variety is very good compared to game size and the way they re-used enemies is good
I think the problem with Lies is that all the enemy variety is spent on non-respawning minibosses/elite enemies. It had a lot of different miniibosses that you fight one to three times throughout the game, but most of the regular enemies draw from the same pool of like ten different enemies. The minibosses in Lies are pretty good though, except the human ones really.
>The level design is dogshit
Wrong
Compared to an actual Souls game it is lol, did we play the same fricking game? It gets boring because you know exactly what to expect, there's almost always a shortcut just around the corner and it's always the same fricking gate
Lies of P is a shitty corridor boss rush game, they didn't even try to do anything that this game tries to do, they just put together a lazy Sekiborne with a twink protagonist
Lies of P's devs knew its scope and what to prioritize, now they have a very solid foundation to work on for a future project. LotF tries to do everything all at once right out the gate, and stumbles on multiple occasions.
It's classic soulslop but less polished and missing the comfy reused assets you're used to that make From games feel like home
Whats up with this weirdass marketing? They lie to compliment the game while bashing it for something else
>such good reviews
>worst aspects of Souls games
>Lies of P get's a super cute blue haired girl as the firekeeper
>LotF gets a Black person
lmao
THIS is the cutscene you get when you reach firelink shrine in lies of p
>Korean slop copying everything from Fromsoft
INTO THE TRASH IT GOES
How come Lies of P looks better
because koreans know how to make games and poojeets don't. Lies of P runs better, feels better, IS a better game, and it's made in unreal engine 4 instead of this unreal engine 5 slop
Putting slop on every sentence you use makes you sound like a toddler. It’s become the new “literally”
UE5 with lumen and nanite is dogshit. It makes any project impossible to work with using current gen hardware. During detailing phase I told one of my devs to turn on lumen and the fps went from 70 to 10. Had to go out of my way to avoid nanite and lumen at all costs and had to pull overtime since we manually baked light maps and POMs. Now I have to do even more overtime since my fricking manager want raytracing done. Frick these new age bullshit, raytracing is not production ready it's ment to make my job easier but that's not what's happening right now since I have to do both so you frickers can actually run the game.
The Koreans even manage to make their pretend women look plastic
Are daggers/dual weapon worthless? I started with the rogue class but I switched to two handing a short sword since I can't find anything usable.

LITERALLY a sign from God. I'm going to church next sunday.
Inferno is also really good later on in the game
You get big inferno scaling weapons and strong spells like the fire hammer
but yes radiance is just immediately strong with pieta and holy weapon buff
>I'm going to church next sunday.
NO, YOU GO NOW!
>imagine not going full STR build
frick reading, frick magic, frick lore on items, you get the fricking hammer
Truly, no one can copy the sauce that FromSoft has. No souls clone is even CLOSE to the quality of FromSoft games. Not in feel, presentation, level design, monster design, bosses, etc. It's actually kind of insane to think about. Nioh is like the closest anyone has ever gotten to it and its still mostly unmemorable.
It is a monumental achievement to spawn an entire genre of copycats and to have literally none of them come close to what you have put out.
>flopped
Already successful tho?
It didn't flop, just had performance issues on release. Almost all the negative reviews are from people with performance issues who cant play the game. That doesn't make it a bad game, just an amazing game with performance issues. I honestly think that LotF holds up well against Dark Souls. It deserves an 80+ rating for sure
>had
It still has probably the worst performance i've seen in a game in over a decade. I get barely 40fps on 1440p, medium graphics, on a fricking 3090.
And before you ask, yes my drivers are up to date.
This is almost all the negative reviews. People are pathetic, obviously performance issues will be fixed, don't give it a negative review just because of that
frick you
Steam should force you to post your specs when you review a game
that's against EU law
90% third world favela monkeys on 970 or 1050ti/1060
yeah bro that's the reason. not because it's unoptimized garbage like every other ue5 dumpster fire that has come out this year
there's totally not a shitload of people with 4070s and higher having performance issues

And once they are, i'll update my review.

Dark Crusader if you want the meme armor
Do they both start with a catalyst and spells?
DC starts with holy grenades
Guess I'll go preacher then for the actual casting

UE5 GAME IN YEAR OF OUR LORD 2023
Is there a good catalyst early game? The one you can buy is ok, but thats it.
Pirategay here but I plan on buying it if they fix the PVP netcode and it goes on sale. Hidden gem that filtes skillets and turd worlders with shit machines.
Runs smooth as butter on my 4090 with framegen.
Having elemental weapons that purely scale from inferno or radiance is just insane
You get to use all spells from the source while getting maximum melee AND spell damage on top of mana to sustain it all
yeah it's really generous of them that I am allowed to cast 7 spells at 50 inferno before I need to much on rocks again
You can also buff them. It's very clear from the start that the game very much wants you to be some form of Paladin and any of the other "themes" suggested by the available classes are not even remotely supported to the same degree as the heavily armoured Radiance/STR guy.
It's extremely fun and I am excited for what they make next. Remember that Dark Souls and Elden Ring was over a decade in the making, and Demon's Souls wasn't super polished. Most of the weapons and armours and animations are reused from earlier games they made.
This game runs like shit and looks like shit. What the frick are they doing? I'm getting 30-40 fps in the hub on close to the lowest settings, meanwhile lies of P is a solid 120 throughout the entire world AND it looks better.
something about it just looks utterly soulless
also WTF were they thinking with the UI? It looks terrible
I'm talking about Lies of P btw
>meanwhile lies of P is a solid 120 throughout the entire world AND it looks better.
Why u lying tho lol lies of piss is terrible and the delay combat from bosses is horrible cope and seeth
I dont like Lies of P
>Goofy childish theme cant be taken seriously
>Fruity main character you have to play as
>UI looks like it came from a flash game
Yes yes I know gameplay is king, but I cant just ignore the rest.
probably the best soulslike game but holy shit the mob swarm is annoying as frick
Don't mean to shit on the game, but how come the game looks so much shittier than it did in the gameplay trailers? I saw an anon in of these threads comment they downgraded the engine but it seemed like bait at the time, is it true?
The game looks really good on max settings, but nobody does that because the performance is awful
sex with P
Haven't played it yet, but I really wanted it to be good because I like the aesthetic.
Then again, people here shit on the best souls (DS2) so maybe it's not that bad.
holy SHIT please give me more respec items
why are these type of games always so stingy
I just want to try out new builds
CE tables should be out by now
don't think they have any item pointers
they should at least have attributes
How are you morons unable to use the fricking vendor that sells unlimited tree seeds and respecs??? Even the game spot reviewer gave the game negative points because he couldn’t rest at bonfires and made it a big deal that he couldn’t find seeds when a fricking hub world vendor sells 999 of them. Fricking morons like that get to review games
>that sells unlimited tree seeds and respecs???
he doesn't sell unlimited respecs in my game
he has 1 in stock
My b your right
I found a chrysalis in the wild in the snow area after the main area boss
There's a vendor that sells more later if you find them in the Cistern but if you progress up the elevator after Skinstealer instead of just turning right around and draining the sewer to descend to the next area that way, the Byron will kill the merchant before you get to meet them.
Why do character look like shit? Can you even make a cool one?
https://www.unrealengine.com/en-US/blog/unreal-engine-5-3-is-now-available
With this release, we’ve continued to refine all core UE5 rendering features to address our ongoing goal of making it easier for developers to leverage them at higher quality in games running at 60 fps on next-gen consoles; the improvements also offer higher-quality results and enhanced performance for linear content creators.
All the UE5 games are still on 5.0 codebase instead of the latest 5.3 and upcoming 5.4 codebase, that's why they have extremely poor performance
how unfortunate for those games
how much do you get paid per post?
next year you'll be saying that all the games are still on the 5.3 codebase instead of the latest 5.6 and that's why they all have extremely poor performance again
>dogshit performance
frick them, i'll wait 2 years for a sale, if i even remember it exists
The forward momentum on attacks pisses me off so fricking much. Shit killed me more than enemies
Tell me how I know you are at pilgrims perch? They should never have let that be a starting area the player base for these games are way too moronic
I read the OP image as Lords of Farting then I let out a big wet one.
>Like someone made a full game out of Chalice Dungeons, or Elden Ring's catacombs.
Sounds based, too bad it's not on PS4.
Those big stone heads are so fricking tedious man
Good things
A lot of specific build items early in the game, always was jarring how in souls games they usually were in mid game as earliest
Unlockable classes finally brings genre back to roots, away from souls movie slop
Bad things:
It plays like absolute shit, with target switching even if you put gamepad away
Only unlockable classes are from endings and fricking paid preorder, no reason to properly explore game at all
Online is shit
Weird bugs like the one where buying boss weapons/armor currency from merchant actually removed it from your inventory instead(was fixed in day, but how the frick they fricked up it so badly)
4/10
At least they die in one opening cycle
Boss was a pure cancer though
3rd encounter with the Lightreaper and I barely made a dent and I'm like lvl 70
God what a gay
What?
I absolutely raped him in second encounter, and the only reason I didn't killed him was because I fricking got kicked there by snake with half hp and unprepared
I can't manage its aggression. If I play on the defensive with blocks I get half my hp bar withered and I don't know when it does a 1 or 3 hit combos. Since I'm using a UGS I've got a hard time getting hits in.
Those kind of bosses I just need to bang my head against it and figure out the patterns after X attempts, it's like that skinstealer homosexual in the cistern.
I killed him during the 3rd encounter at the snow place
think I was level 80
>You want 60FPS at 4K?
>Just buy 5090 bro
U can see the skill issue babys crying lies of piss is a easy baby game
I have to say the mine area followed by the cistern and depths was pretty good and fun
I always liked stonefang in des
My homie, those three zones were the first time in the game I felt the devs actually knew what they were doing when it came to encounter and level design.
>unlocks the gate to the ice realm
>into the tunnel
>uses lamp to gaze into umbral
>gets sucked in by something
>now in umbral
What is this?
Was it one of the reaper enemies? They can grab you and instantly drag you to Umbral if you look at them with the lamp.
I think so, yes. There was a shadow and in the next blink of an eye im in umbral. Frick this shit
If you get hit by an umbral enemy while in Axiom you get forcibly and instantly dragged into Umbral.
As if it isn't enough to go to damn place when you die!
Mod to cut all action distances by 60% when?
This is just sad

>Korean game welcomes you to the hub

>Western game welcomes you to the hub
>Black person stares at you with his blank groid face
>Lies of P is a positive story about Carlo becoming a true human and cucking both buttholes who orchestrated the entire downfall of the city out of their respective goals while saving Sophia from her torturous existence and giving her a new life
>all hub NPCs are likeable, including an uncharacteristically cool dirt reach inventor, even the puppet servants end up being interesting characters
>LOTF is about all gods being buttholes, the world being irrepairably fricked and you being bent over and annihilated in 2 out of 3 endings
>the entire hub is full of unlikeable c**ts
The West hates beauty
To be honest Fromsoft is also pretty guilty of grim endings, which is why LoP was a bit refreshing.
DeS had a very positive good ending (you're a new immortal hero who will be a pillar of a new age)
DS2 had a very positive true ending (you fixed your own hollowing and fricked off, maybe with Shanalotte on your lap)
DS3 at least has a certain grace to its own endings. Yeah, the world is fricked and we will end it, but at least we end it together with the Firekeeper and cuddle together as the world goes dark.
ER is a good ending for your character no matter what, unless you go for 3 fingers.
Bloodborne ends with you evolving to a higher state of existence.
Sekiro's true ending is a very positive "journey to the west".
LOTF is just a fricking misery parade all around unless you go with Adyr which is fricking funny because i hate all the c**ts in the hub and all their religion just by progressing the game so maybe it was intentional.
>Game with Christian symbolism/aesthetic.
>The best ending is siding with Satan.
Adyr feels like a combination of the Lord (created everything, says he loves and forgives all of his children) and a stereotypical devil (created demons, extremely prideful, really wants to make humans suffer, deep down wants to go home)

>What an actual souls game looks like
Black men nutting inside me (I'm experiencing challenging gameplay)
Average lies of piss troony
Makes sense that someone who likes the design of the main character in P would be into getting blacked
corny game. you can't walk across a bridge you have to pull out the soul lantern and then get hit by a mob in umbral and pulled into umbral. you can't just fight a mob or boss you have to pull out the soul lantern play with the parasites. you can't just go through the gate you have to go to umbral realm and walk around to the edges of the platform and pull the corpses. you can't just reach the bonfire you have to guess if you should place them yourself. dogshit lock + camera + jump across the screen moves you have to constantly fight to play the game.
didnt this game come out years ago?
yes, but no.
>see a comment (or a snippet of a review, i don't recall) that the game is very linear
>currently have 3 different substantial areas in very different locations to explore, no idea whether they're all intended or if some are optional
Everything about this game is exceedingly mediocre however i must admit the scale of the areas (and how they all seem to 'fit' in the world space properly) is quite impressive
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/newsroom/news/intel-core-14th-gen-desktop-processors.html
Is 6 GIGAHURTZ enough for UE5?
How are the quality builds in this game, worth investing in it?
>go back to the hub
>arrogant noble, the captain and the merchant are all missing

I really hope they dont give in to all the whiners complaining about no bonfires in ng+
>no bonfires in ng+
what
yep, you read it right.
I'm not at ng+ but no pre-existing bonfires just sounds really tedious more than anything else.
You already get plenty of seeds so all it means is that you can't freely travel to different locations so you're stuck in whatever route you've picked for a while.
None at all or just the ones you plant with a seed?
>none at all or
anon cmon now what do you think
There are no vestiges. You have to plant the seeds in NG+ to have a 'bonfire'. And everytime you do, the previous seed vanishes.
oh god
i hate that but kinda admire the audacity at the same time
I guess that explains why they actually made the world interconnected even though you can freely fast travel.
Does the game tell you that before you go into NG+
it is an extremely bold assumption that a significant fraction of the playerbase will even beat the game, let along bother with NG+
lmao, this game is absolute dogshit
someone sell me this game. i've been waiting for some more trusted reviews to come out, and while i don't trust you guys, i still know nothing about it.
is it a competent game? is it at least comfy? is there variety in builds? is it fun?
It’s kino, my first time encountering the reapers/ringwraiths solidified that. I’ve only gotten through the first two areas though. I could definitely see some bullshit annoying enemies later on (frick the headbutt guys in Pilgrim’s Perch) but that’s kind of par for the course with these guys just like how it was in The Surge.
>but that’s kind of par for the course with these guys just like how it was in The Surge.
How many times must it be said, its not the same developer.
The people who worked on the original LotF and The Surge 1&2 have nothing to do with this game. You fricking nonce.
Not him but the animation work looks exactly the same (ie. Really bad for the same reasons) I do not believe for a moment that there isn't a lot of crossover between the teams for each. Studio names are not people.
kino is a strong claim anon. how does it compare to ds1 or bloodborne?
it's like those games if the enemy density throughout the entire game was like the Smelter Demon runback
>Like someone made a full game out of Chalice Dungeons, or Elden Ring's catacombs.
just like the 2014 version
Rosamund sword seems pretty good as something not pure holy and inferno? Good scaling and both wither+frostbite
>heavy
>slower than pieta's sword
>shorter range than pieta's sword
>half its' damage being wither mean enemies can take an extra hit to die than otherwise since if the physical half of the damage isn't enough to finish them off
bin
It's extremely good
>upgraded umbral lamp
>now i have 3 soulflay charges that will never be used instead of 1
What?
Even outside of stone bosses, soulflay charges are free stun and some hp steal
with a decade-long windup that'll probably just end up making you take a hit
why would i do that instead of just hitting the enemy for significantly more damage when you factor in the massive windup it takes
the ONLY times it's worth it is if you can throw an annoying enemy off a ledge and even then you're probably better off just trying to bait it into charging off
The windup on soul flay is so fricking enormous and the damage you do to them during soul flay is so tiny you're better off just attacking
Why's everything so muddy and blurry?
It feels like I'm playing a PS2 game at times.
game defaulted to its' resolution scale being on 50% which fricks the visuals
also looks awful if you don't turn motion blur/chromatic aberration/depth of field off
>Nooo you cannot slide around everything has to be stiff, clunky and unfun
What the frick is wrong with fromtards?
Calrath is pure cancer
>half the player base running around with pieta
it's elden ring all over again
the balancing team of these games fricking suck, FROM being the absolute worst at it
Pieta's sword power drops off as you approach mid-game/late game areas. There are much, much better and stronger alternatives.
I find it hard to believe that weapons will come along that are even more relatively powerful than socketing 2 increased Radiance/decreased infernal into Pieta and applying Radiant Weapon to it is right now. Those weapons must kill almost everything in one hit
how far ingame until you can put sockets in your weapon? Isn't it sparky who can do that or did I misread something.
sockets are automatically put in your weapons as you upgrade them
actually putting stuff in the sockets (and buying some) is locked behind finding rune tablets
b-b-but the patch notes said double dagger powerstance might be overpowered!
what is this webm intending to showcase
more than one enemy on the screen at once which is apparently a warcrime
It's hilarious because the sliding forward shit almost got you killed in that webm.
sliding forward on 2h shortsword isn't a negative for the player because 2h shortsword hits everything that's anywhere near it, but on other weapons like daggers the forwards movement of any attack makes you whiff completely past things when you play unlocked
holy mother of ice skating
Is this the patented "Game gives me tons of tools at my disposal but I didnt really win the game unless I ungabunga with a 2H sword and nothing else" grindset?
If that gameplay looks like some weird challenge run to you then I have bad news
It looks like an encounter that could have been made easier by even some limited use of spells or throwing items, as the game intended.
Sounds like you must have had a really fun time not fighting anything in this game where enemies move forwards faster when swinging a weapon than they do when 'running' after you, and constantly get stuck on the slightest terrain bump.
Oh man the burned down village area has so fricking many random pieces of geometry that fricking stop you from moving
Tied with the casters that throw shit through walls is infuriating
>implying ungabunga with ugs isn't the most effective tool in the game
I'm only like halfway through the game, but the starting preacher hammer has been doing more damage per hit than pieta's at every step. Similar speed and even factoring in smite, I'd guess damage over time is close with a slight edge to the hammer. At end-game there's also a strictly better version of the hammer that drops its strength scaling a little to take radiant from B to S and give it the same rune layout as pieta. The advantage of pieta seems to really just be in range, and that really helps with cleaving down packs of idiots but doesn't help much with fighting singular enemies because of how aggressive forward momentum is anyway. Every weapon is going to be hugging every enemy's dick after the first swing anyway.
I don't think pieta's damage really stands out from a ton of other things even early on is all. Elemental damage is just really good from the start and split weapon damage doesn't seem to be punished anywhere near as much as it is in most games, to the point where pure str/dex would likely still do better for a long time with a split weapon. I'm not to the end-game yet, but I could definitely see the shit with multiple high scalings end up being meta over a sword with a single A- and 25% less overall base damage to counter the fact the damage is pure element.
I'm currently dual-wielding pieta's and a hammer, but at no point have I really felt like the sword was worth the 40 scouring. I'd be doing just as well with two hammers.
>plebs don't know the power of Fallen Lord's Sword
>42.3 weight
>extremely slow
>split damage type
>pure single stat scaling which eclipses its dual damage nature, can be buffed with more fire on top of it
>the best moveset in the game, lifts, pancakes and launches enemies all around, absolutely moronic damage multiplier on a charged poke, like x3
>300 buildup of a status that explodes in aoe after being triggered and auto-stuns even bosses, annihilating crowds and routinely forcing enemies out of their attacks
>t. hasn't used the Fallen Lord's Sword
Oh my god that platforming section in the first real arena (after the hub) is absolute cancer
The jumps fricking sucks
This game is to Soulslikes what WoW is to MMOs. Souless moron bait
Don't insult WoW like that, as bad as it is it still revolutionized a genre (for better or for worse), LotF doesn't have any pull whatsoever.
Best settings to run the game smoothly?
disable Easy Anti-Cheat
GI and Reflections to Medium
close and relaunch the game at least once before actually playing
is this game linear or does it have kino level design like ds1?
It has interconnected level design yes.
nice
how bad are we talking? on par with sotfs? shrine of amana?
imagine the entire game is Shrine of Amana
mannnnnnnnhn WHAT THE FRICK. do the frickers despawn like in ds2? are the devs planning on reducing the number of mobs? this was the only game i was looking forward to this year end
>do the frickers despawn like in ds2?
lol no, and I don't think this game even has obligatory "elite mob that you kill once and then it doesn't respawn" like Black Knights in DS, every Black Knight equivalent in this game also respawns on rest. And if you're in the Umbral it just spawns a steady stream of basic fodder enemies until you leave.
Those do exist, but they are presented like boss encounters.
levels are big and intricate but encounter design sucks so they all feel like a slog
How come any game released this year suffers from performance issues?
>Forspoken, Hogwarts, Gollum, Wild Hearts, Last of Us, Jedi, Immortals of Aveum, Remnant 2, Starfield, Lords of the Fallen
Are publishers too dumb to check the Steam hardware survey that 60% of the playerbase can't even run their unoptimized trash.
Did nobody notice the last GPU generation is dogshit and basically no value increase. Meaning the only performance increase comes from the high-end market
all but two of those games are on Unreal Engine
Expect AC6, which runs since release.
What does that say? From Software is KING
just buy a PS5, you fricking autist
Legitimately hilarious how this game wasn't content with ripping off Souls games it also randomly rips off Final Fantasy bosses and their mechanics stick out like a sore thumb as a result
>Like someone made a full game out of Chalice Dungeons, or Elden Ring's catacombs.
but those are unironically my favorite areas. love me some dungeon crawling
he's just trolling, the game doesnt feel like that at all, in terms of level design it's better than recent from games, everything else is worse however
it's a good game with some glaring flaws, like lack of enemy variety, bad bosses, all weapons being the same, easy to miss items unlocking core mechanics like runes, pacing of spell unlocks especially for inferno, enemy density being absurd in some places, final boss being shit and the final area in general being anti climactic and just terrible.
but it mostly got 7/10s which is fair
Game is pretty easy now I'm high levelled and have good gear but I can still die if I get wienery. It was frustrating at first and you are weak af in the early stages but that makes it all the more satisfying when you get to this point. Those big bastards in front of me use to grief me to no end but now I can 2 shot them with standard attacks. A lot of cry babies in this thread and on steam who want to feel powerful immediately because they've played other soulslikes and think they're shit hot.
Where did you get Guts Sword, anon?
It's called Justice, can get it in the Revelation Depths by some tents and a big armored dude. It's god tier when leveled up but you need high strength and faith.
>but you need high strength and faith.
already on it. Thanks anon
>game isn't by JP,KR or CN devs
It's shit
the Chinese have never made a good game
and Koreans have a terrible track record, Lies of P being reasonably decent doesn't erase decades of shitawful games
The chinese have a lot of good crpgs and jrpgs that are mostly CN only and the few that have fantls are hell to find. I really enjoyed the first Sword and Fairy
if they're anything like their RPGs that are available in the west, I sincerely doubt it.
That game is Taiwanese you fricking moron
>Chinese have never made a good game
Alice:Madness Returns was great
> KR or CN devs
Nice try kys chink
Post your Lampbearers.
Good
Good!
Very good indeed
I love the Vanguard helmet, it goes well with sleek armor.
is there any parry frame data yet? difference between shields, weapon classes etc.
Also
>in the mines
>have to turn brightness all the way up and can still barely see shit
I hate it when games make environments this dark, it's just tedious and isn't adding anything positive to the experience.
There really are way more inferno weapons than radiance huh? I don't want to just use Pieta's sword but I've found like two more radiance weapons and a giant pile of inferno ones.
A weapon that reflects the very title of the game is a pure inferno UGS
not really, there's way more radiance weapons
i love how much this game filters people. its jank but only if you compare it to from. but it still has that dark souls 2 feel and im used to that jank
what's the stamina regen increase on Mineowner's ring?
I love it. It has a certain jank charme to it and reminds me heavily of Dark souls 2 which I also love. Also, sick aesthetic, setting is cool but its too pricey for what it is and definitely needs to be reduced in price or get some patches in.
How do I get Lightreaper to come to Calrath? I already encountered him in the tutorial, Fitzroy's and in Fief.
he will show up there after you kill judge cleric, you have to take the route you unlock from skyrest go get back there btw
Does this require win10 only?
Can you play a pirated copy WITHOUT easyanticheat?
the FLT crack comes with an EAC uninstaller
>fire
>burn
>ignite
Why do we need 3 different types of fire damage ? whats even the difference
Burn and ignite are status effects that deal fire damage once you've built up enough on a enemy. Burn is a DoT and ignite is a burst of damage.
Fire is just fire damage from your regular swing/pyro spell, burn is a DoT, ignite is an explosion
One problem for me was that the Vsync in game did absolutely nothing and I had bad screen tearing. Going into the Nvidia settings and turning vsync on there fixed that problem.
You should always do that. Never use in-game vsync for any game.
I've been thinking about getting this. How does the two world mechanic compare to, say, Soul Reaver?
Dude don’t even ask people here you’re better off watching an IGN review at this point. This board can’t give you any information, anytime someone responds to you on /v, you must assume they also have a personality disorder.
the longer you spend in umbral, the more hostile it becomes — so it puts a soft time limit on your puzzle solving and platforming. I think it's neat.
it's an annoying gimmick
Im so happy you Black folk don’t enjoy souls games. Elden ring was a mistake, you face are the absolute worst individuals to discuss anything with. This board is almost as bad as pol, and the content here ain’t even polarizing, imagine that. How can this board create some much shit?? /tv is the last board for fun discussion, Jesus Christ you gags have ruined this website with your obsessive feuds
elden ring has allowed soo much more accessibility that the morons think this is what dark souls games are supposed to and then get frickin filtered by something not as cheesed and easy open ended shit
git gud
The performance in this game is god fricking awful. Do devs even playtest their games anymore?
The flame thrower is OP as hell and you get it pretty earlier. The other spells on the wiki sound pretty awesome to
Bro, your DLSS?
>DUAL KNIVES IS OVERPOWERED GUISE
>P-PLEASE USE THEM AND THE SHITTY RINGS TOO
lmao are they serious?
They have the longest parry window in the game if that's something you care about at least
it would be if a single parry move allowed to immediately do the riposte thing and not having to repeat it like 4 times per enemy
wheres the parry frame data? I've seen nothing on the wiki or the games sub
nice headcanon
>cleaving through an umbral swarm with one handed ugs
This is actually kinda fun lol
>How did it get such good reviews?
Because it's an excellent game, above and beyond most of From Software's own catalog.
No it isn’t it’s a janky buggy crashing piece of shit with terrible animations
is there some kind of mutual agreement across dev teams to make 95% of magic slow enough to not be worth using but then pick 2-3 spells and make them both fast and effective?
Wo Long came this year and had a really cool magic design so it's more about westcucks than anything
Lies of P had really strong elemental arms too
teehee bring out your dinky catalyst after doing thumb gymnastics with it to swtich from the lamp and then press the coordinated buttons to wind up the magical whimsical attack while you get sniped from a homosexual a football field away man LOVE MAGIC IN THESE GAMES
>add rune to increase STR scaling
>the letter changes, but the attack power rating doesn't update to show it's new value
There's a few small issues like this with the UI/menus that annoy me, like also not being able to see the effect of a ring (unless it's buffing a main stat) without switching menu screens after equiping it. Don't know how this shit makes it through testing, it's basic QOL
The UI is utterly broken. You can also buy more consumables than the cap allows, this usually isn't an issue because the cap is high but things like seeds actually have a hard limit of 5.
this along with some the amulets (increase physical damage and resistance one for example) doesn't show up on the character screen frickin baffles me.
It’s poorly plagiarized slop
Still controls better than Dark Souls 2 somehow
better than from souls that's for sure
streamers say lotf is better than fromsoftware souls
>SHILLS SAY THE GAME IS GOOD SO IT HAS TO BE
hey never attack the messenger, you lowlife spartan
Nobody cares about streamers/e-celebs except newbies.
The message was so dumb you should have known not to deliver it
the only streamers playing it are getting paid to do so
shin megami tensei featuring soulslike when?
>red reaper cheese was immediately patched
man frick these guys
Is it me or mini-"boss" (like the spikey head guy) jave slightly too much hp and do too much damage?
They feel like a chore to kill and don't give many souls?
I just drop attacked them. They have over 1k HP
This game has the best world interconnectivity since the original DAS. holy frick. I'm exploring and constantly seeing branching paths, paths leading back to previous areas paths that unlock new areas. It's insane
>This game has the best world interconnectivity since the original DAS
Play Hellpoint
It's not even close to DS1 level
The Surge had more interconnectivity than DaS. I'm not particularly saying that as a positive because I ended up quitting after over halfway since I got lost. The Surge 2 had a frickton of connected paths too. DaS was more about "you're in this area and WHOA you can see THAT area over there!" which was cooler in Demon's Souls but had its moments.
the undead burg ladder is still one my favourite moments in vidya
The interconnected world was just a way to break the monotony of overglorified linear multi-stage level selection that was Demon's Souls. In fact, the world design rarely intrudes the structure of levels, and it exists as navigation to various major levels. Somehow people got the concept that every Souls game should be an intricate maze-like web of locations, and actually miss the point, which is the level design and combat encounters.
does it frick, im through the burning town and into the mines and so far its looped back to the hub just once. It's basically been a straight line
Hellpoint is an example of great interconnected world design.
>Hellpoint is an example of great interconnected world design.
Hellpoint, Salt and Sanctuary, maybe even Surge 2 blow the frick out of LOTF in terms of world design honestly.
Hopefully Last Faith delivers too
hyb
>buying either of these titles
This makes me mad at how bad they fricked up with sacrifice. They made a moderately great combo of metroidvania and soulslike then decided to squander it
Oh no. I gave an Umbral tome to the hub Black cleric and I think he went to the darkside
I did the fief of chill curse before killing the actual boss of forsaken fen because I thought thats where I needed to go. That was brutal
If they're going to make it where you can only have one vestige seed active just make it infinite use. This shit is dumb.
Frick the forsaken fen, lads.
I have to say I'm impressed with some of the later areas in the game. Mine into cistern was good however the hallowed castle was even better. Almost FROM tier
I'm enjoying the game way more after learning the mechanics and how everything interacts together. Especially the umbral world shit. It really picks up in the mid-game I feel like. Not sure why they made Pieta so hard to beat, I feel it's gonna discourage a lot of new players.
pieta is great, basically the only good boss in the game, i wish the rest were as good as her because it made me hopeful for the rest of the game and ended up dissapointed
not a huge fan of Soulslike but the visual design looks really cool here. and the combat doesn't look that bad to me, don't really mind the lunges being so big since the dodge and ranged attacks are really long range too. will probably get it as its <40£ on keysites.
I know there's lots of complaints about mob density, but cleaving through enemies with longswords is really satisfying. It just feels impactful.
Shame the fully charged heavy attack is bugged while dual-wielding and does frick all damage
find yourself an ultra, they basically have a longsword moveset on steroids
mob density on its own is not as much of an issue like absolutely disgusting combinations of enemies spawning behind your back, archers and elites all thrown at you at once later on
Hory shit the damage buff compared to the starting hatchets
B scaling and bleed.
Bruh.
yeah the enhanced throwing weapons seem overtuned, my enhanced throwing hammer has an attack power over 700, charged attacks can hit for over 1000 damage, shits wild
>pieta at +5 with 50 radiance deals 630 damage per hit and 1100-1200 charged r2
fix your game
Youre right it should do more
Why yes, I do want a million candles on my back
spanish catholicism got that swag
is there a dark/hex type magic, can i be a witch? i only know of faith and pyro type from what i've seen.
There's umbral, radiant and pyro magic
thanks! i'll look into that
>specializes in Wither stuffs
>you can have an evil eye familiar that shoots the baddies
neat. the spells don't look very unique, but as long as i can RP and fashion some kind of witch, it makes Soulslikes more appealing to me.
A few of the spells are really cool (I like the one that has a giant nail dig underground before hitting an enemy for a massive burst of Wither and physical damage), but there are a lot that are pretty basic. I also feel like Judge Cleric's miracle does no fricking damage
The little kid is a boy, surprisingly enough.
Rad/Inf exists as an umbral mage type deal
hot take, but they should have excised the whole vestige mechanic on the first playthrough. It actually works on NG+ because no normal checkpoints naturally, but creating your own checkpoints works a lot better when the player already has knowledge about the game's layout. it's like REmake on harder difficulties, where your item storage is restricted to their respective storage boxes. It's a meta game within a game mechanic. As a result, the vestige shit feels borderline pointless and a scam on NG.
you should also have the option of going vestige on NG characters after the first playthrough, it shouldn't be tied to NG+. That way, you have an actual reason to use the unlocked classes.
Yeah the second decision is baffling. I hope they'll include it on a character
Inferno builds look fun bros ..
>pvp rewards is just tinctures and gloves or legs armor pieces
Wtf is the point. Back in my day I had to grind my ass off for Darkmoon blade and it was awful :')
Why are you still believing in ~~*reviews*~~?
Where do I go after killing the Twin Princesses down in the hole? i mustve missed some dialogue
frost area at the windmill vestige
oh I cleared that area too and the crow boss too
then you head past the locked door in the bellroom
the one where you need the 9500 Vigor key for? I cant find anything else and all the routes lead outside
yes
there are two routes past that door
one leads to an optional castle and the other leads to another area with a beacon
Soulflaying NPC into their death will never stop being funny to me
>Archer autos you for like 3/4th of your health
This game is so fricking weird
was all that really worth two estus
this is actually an excellent demonstration as to why soul flaying is literally never worth it in combat
I'm actually liking it in midgame way more now. Solid 7/10
Mines were pretty kino, and im heading to some snow castle, which already looks really cool. Idk why they put literally the worst area in the game (Pilgrims Blighttown) as the first area in the game
Bosses are way too easy though, I've first tried like the last 5 or 6
Btw. is there no storage in this game to dump all ur junk in? Since I had to start selling all those weapons as it was impossble to even find the new ones
The Bell Staff is too funny, you just plonk everything to death with a tinkle at the end.
Also, those blunt stick backstabs.
any heavier and tankier armor than sovereign?
is dual-wield good? Running hallowed sword + kukajin's sword. It's been good to me so far but after seeing so many RAD chads I'm itching to respec
>is dual-wield good?
No. 2 hand one of them.
are you sure? dual-wielding deals more damage for me. 2 moderate hits > 1 strong hit
the heavy charged attack is currently bugged while dual-wielding, does less than half it should do
The combat text only shows the most recent damage number so attacks which cause 2 damage instances only show one of the hits. Dual wield is still worse than shortsword 2H but the damage isn't the reason.
I know it only shows the most recent, it's still bugged on the fully charged heavy. The low damage output has been reported by plenty of others.
alright you've convinced me. What's a big 2H sword for a RADchad? I got bloody glory recently and it seems good
There's a big guts sword that the cleric at the hub sells that requires 30str and 20rad I think
That's because I was blocking the other dudes attacks and my HP was withered which meant that the crossbow bolt remove all the wither bar and then did the HP dmg for about 1/7th of my health. Crossbowmen are pretty scary since they can fire twice in a row
The dual wield moveset has slower animations and deals less poise damage / has shorter hitstun compared to 2H short sword so it's less reliable in all normal content.
there's a pretty good game underneath that eurojank
Who needs to git gud? Yea that's right it's the enemies in Lords of the Fallen who need to git gud at pathing.
>Feedback is shifting from optimization to "Please make the game way easier"
The giant infant may be the first well designed boss since Pieta
I'm actually surprised. Did some freelancer design him?
UGS bros, one-handed or two-handed moveset? I feel like two-handed actually has less coverage and damage, like running R1 doing 30% less than a regular swing
1h, the poke is great
Use 2h switch combos because some of 2h followup moves are super fast though
I use both and mix and match during combos. I love that the game lets you change stances inbetween attacks and continue your combos like this
Is that Gwyn's sword?
So im new. Is it easy to maintain a large amount of manastones to go full caster?
Yes, I just cheated myself 999 of them and haven't ran out yet.
have a nice day you braindead troon.
U mad? Yeah u mad.
AHHHHH I AM ANGRYYYYYYY
You can buy lots in the hub for cheap
They're relatively easy to farm, but it's not very useful to have a ton of them. The way they work over time means you can't spam them at all, and even the best tier takes a while to recover enough mana for a couple spells.
>basically nothing for a pyromancer before lower carlath aside from flamethrower and damage buff
>roll out of the burning city as a giant hulking hellknight with summoned greathammer, magma pools and a giant frickoff hell twohander that is literally named fallen lord greatsword in a game called lords of the fallen
Idk guys i think Adyr is cooler than your homosexual god of light
I'm enjoying the game. It's a bit jank and derivative at times, but it has some specks of soul. I like the maps that give little guides for the areas. The X's that tell you were not to go help satisfy my exploration autism but I'm sure I've missed plenty of hidden stuff because I don't always have my lantern out.
Lantern has given me so many jumpscares with enemies too.
I'm also 13 hours in and have only lit one beacon and the cistern map says to go up but I just found a whole other area below it so I feel like this game is just packed with areas
>Invigorating Aura
>Pendant that lowers aura cost
>Mana ring
>Mana rune in shield
I am the Beacon.
Do you still regen mana while auras are on?
Yes
How do you update a pirated copy?
>XDelta Update 1.1.193 -> 1.1.195
Oh you got the scene release? Well tough titty then.
There's a a 1.1.195 torrent posted on cs.rin with a portable installation if you don't mind redownloading 32gb. It's well seeded too.
if you slap on a health regen rune, is it fixed or does it scale with the faith stat?
The Lords have fallen!
BILLIONS MUST DIE
Are the PC controls tolerable? I played Elden Ring on K&M fine.
>Kbm
What the frick bro
?????? ER plays just fine with it.
Yeah, the only thing that sucks is the lock-on flying from one target to the other if you move left/right a bit too much. I rebound some keys like block and 1/2h stance since the default was a bit meh, but the rest of the keybinds are ok.
Everyone in this thread that responds to a post of criticism with something like Lies of Piss, is outing themselves as a filtered gay that takes comfort in LoTF bosses being a cake walk and then trying to cope by saying it’s muh nostalgia. You can admit one game did it better while preferring the other one.
But LoPiss posters come to this thread constantly to complain about how they got filtered by the levels in LotF because this game dared to put more than 1 enemy on the screen at a time?
I don't get the feud. LoP came out weeks ago. Play it, beat it, move on by now unless you're an autist doing multiple NG+ runs in a single player game.
Is there ANY RAD great sword in the entire game? Not ultra.
There's one RAD, and two RAD/INF greatswords.
How viable are fist weapons in this game?
The moveset is shit. Dunno about viability. Play wo long or nioh 2 if you want good fists.
Fists peaked with Elden Ring caestus though
this is such a sad bait i can't do anything but give you a pity (you)
he is only wrong because claws are even better tbh
No fist weapon from ER is even remotely approaching the realm of either Nioh 2 fists or even Wo Long cestuses
Call me when your shitty fists have a cool drunken fist duck move that can be used to avoid high ground attacks or a god damn dempsey roll
shit bros i think they patched out the reaper exploit

Yep, we got another hit on our hands, boys!
