Even playing 4's batshit crazy plot was a breath of fresh air after V's nothing of a story. There isn't a single goddamn "cool moment" or "iconic scene" in V that I'd even care to look up on youtube meanwhile 1-4 are littered with such events.
MGS1-3 managed to have a tasteful blend of both. 4 had too much story and V was a complete over-correction in the opposite end of the spectrum but just as bad.
Here are some apparent reasons: >Padded out gameplay with unengaging ubisoft outposts and meaningless side quests >Open world gameplay leads to less intricately designed and more easily exploited level design >EPIC slow mo for INSANE headshots every time you get spotted basically turning the game into 7th gen splinter cell slop >missing the entire last third of the game >nonsense filler plot that adds nothing to the series over all narrative other than Kojima writing himself out of a plothole he created at the end of MGS4 >tedious and unfun multiplayer mechanics on launmch >once MGO actually came out it was a shadow of it's MGS3 and 4 versions that died out very quickly

Did people really think that was a plothole? I just figured the fricker survived barely and nanomachines helped make him survive. It's not like it showed his head explode or something.
Characters are stupid. Plot is spread too thin and kinda jumbled and definitely unnecessary. Gameplay was good, although it's underwhelming that the best base was in GZ.

Doing her mission 7 times to get her back was the most fun I had with this game, it's the only time that I actually felt like I was playing a game and not getting constantly ball busted by terrible design decisions.
MGS V was one of the worst game experiences I ever had. And I'm not an MGS fan or care about the story.

What made MGS5 and Death Stranding feel so awful to control? The characters felt like weightless action figure toys. Kojima's just seems incompetent.
I have over a thousand hours in MGSV but never built a nuke. Just didn't see any point.
