Then we started seeing a lot more success with some big releases, then we started hiring more people, then money started being more and more important, then we started leaning into microtransactions really fricking hard because "it's the only way to guarantee a revenue stream", then we overhired and overinvested during the pandemic and now leadership is oh so sad that we had to layoff a whole ton of people when the bubble popped, and now I fricking hate this corporate soulless shell of a studio and I've never felt the urge to leave as strong as I do right now but I can't because I have a large chunk of money coming my way over the next few years and I'm grappling with the realization that not only is the studio soulless but I am as well.

The secret sauce is drop tables. I ran a clan that played multiple games until Destiny 1. Then I stepped down from running that when I saw how bad the drop rates were in obtaining each exotic weapon. I moved on to other games, they moved on to Destiny 2.
