Your character can age, rebirth, eat food and gain weight, play and custom make music, and so much more. You can be anything and do anything all at once with no downsides. From non-combat related skills like cooking, tailoring, blacksmithing, trading goods in a commerce, carpentry, etc. to different styles of combat like melee, magic, ninja, archery, puppetry, etc. all on 1 character.
Although graphics and gameplay is still a bit dated, even after 14 years the game is still rich in content such as fashion contests, cooking contest, jousting, playing in or viewing large concerts, training pets, and so on and continues to be Nexon's most generous game.

At this point the bigger issue seems to be that the dev team isn't large enough / doesn't have enough resources, and perhaps more importantly, aren't skilled enough to build things fast enough. They've said on the previous livestream that they can only do so much, hence why the roadmap for H1 2024 was quite pitiful
They've backed themselves into a corner too with the old engine and presumed decades of spaghetti code, where they can barely keep it maintained and have the lights on, let alone developing new features. I'm guessing trying to address one feature fricks up literally everything else in the codebase, so tweaking one value requires months of overhauls and refactorings.
The only way out of this mess really seems to be to just start over with the code and rebuild it from the ground up (using Unreal Engine), but that comes with the downside of having to divert dev resources that are already tight, meaning even fewer new content in the near future
The limits make sense to me now… gotta slow down the inevitability of players leaving the game after reaching end game without introducing new things to do in the game.
Whats stupid is that theres always content in this game even after achieving endgame content. Like getting new gear sets, fashionagi, guild drama, grooming guildmates, etc.
That's just normal korean dev practice. Make big ass empty promises then later realizing they can't follow through during actual development. Most competent devs would have already had something to go off of way before shooting their mouth off with Unreal. Like Unreal already in the final stages of testing. These buttholes are like "Yeah yeah we can do that, Unreal 10, 12k res, 240FPS. Psss easy".

since i am still angry at at least one idiot here, these are a few ways in which you can valuably contribute in high erg crom as the weakest party member:
- GROUPING AND CCING with vortex, windblast, dm (+chaser)
- general debuffing with dragons, fw, dm etc.
- hexing caris
- pragging rooms 6 and 10
- when someone else is pragging: placing red fc circles, hydra trans, ssing and reapplying dm
- possession room: cc and carrying the spirit
- casting rc, cornering dark mobs, summoning partners w rag doll at irusan
- glas mechanics: glitching skulls, rituals (yellow disciple), grouping and pragging spawns
i have had literally nobody complain about me being deadweight since i do this stuff. there is probably even more that you can do to contribute without directly doing damage that i havent listed here.

Spinning slasher right as they are about to blow. This disables their AI so you can safely pull them to the edge of the arena and stop anymore from spawning for the rest of the fight. Yellow disciple only takes damage from pets so you either pet spam for summon AoE or ride something and auto attack.

Only in content that doesnt have: fixed damage that ignores defenses, instant KO attacks, multiple sources of fixed dmg dots, mobs that ignore cc, mobs that can stun/hold you, puzzle mechanics that kill you if you fail, and mobs that aggro based on specific conditions instead of dmg/taunting.
I don't know how he does it, but siedz dies more often than any elf mages.
DDs tank better than EKs because of mana shield scaling with magic attack and staff ego. Even with armor, EKs can't tank as well as a DD wearing clothes. Human EKs get fricked harder because they can't equip 2 handed swords and shields, and Elf EKs get fricked the hardest because they can't Protmax by dual wielding like Lux. People aren't exaggerating when they say DD is better at everything.

I ran 7n adv with Luna back in the day. It was the only place that dropped Faded Fragments (you couldn't get them on elite), which was used to make the Geas Devastation Circlet. They sold for 1.5 - 3m each and dropped in pairs. If one of us got a drop we'd split the pair. It was alright money and not too difficult.

IMO the big problem is that there's no ramp up period for this requirement. mabi feels unique in that you're able to seamlessly swap between different skillsets in the heat of battle, but you can pretty much blow on all content pre techs and clear it. then you get to techs and suddenly you're expected to not only have equipment tabs, but good equipment in those tabs as well.

So I decided to try speedrunning g1 on a fresh character after leveling to lvl100 with no rbs and I completed it in about 3 hours total.
The nerfs and changes made it an absolute joke.
I know that I was speedrunning and skipping the dialogue, but the dungeons are way too short now. In the cutscenes all of the characters act like they're undergoing a long journey into a perilous environment... that's only 5 rooms and they can one shot all the mobs/3 shot bosses.
There's changing for accessibility and then whatever the hell that was. I'm kind of worried they're going that route with techs.

I'm aware and I've read it thoroughly, I've just got a gut feeling.
You need to sort it out in your head that the "grind" of the game has shifted a lot from quests/ranking skills to what it currently is. It's not that difficulty or time spent has been removed in any way, but rather it is different things that preoccupy that area of the game. And the game is better for it as a whole because now you can do a wider breadth of content without having to hit 10,000 normal sized enemies to advance one skill, but you still get to spend just as long grinding for an upgrade or even longer in most cases.

Is Brionac worth using? I saw it uses AP to repair apparently but is that downside worth for someone without a better weapon?
The Brionac is for using demigod or shock on yourself and shredding enemy protection to 0 and using spear of light. If you are doing anything else with it, you are doing it wrong. Do Blaanid or Chronicle and get a weapon from those.

At your level it's unlikely you'll be able to buy any meaningful gear upgrades. Just stick with Blaanid's stuff for now. If you want to make progress, work your way up to doing the Chronicle Missions, which provide Celtic tier gear. You'll want to get a Celtic Druid staff and then start working on a Spirit Weapon for it. At level 21 you'll be able to get the upgrade that makes Hailstorm charge way faster, and you'll be able to trivialize the game for a long time with Hailstorm + Spellwalk.
After that, your priority is getting Arcana at total level 20k (either Harmonic Saint or Dark Diviner) and Techniques, namely Time Shift, Redoubled Offensive, Blunting/Dampen, and later on, Prag. Get your staff to level 63 for +2 chaincasting to intermediate magic. Save your money for the materials for a Deepglow Demolition Staff.
All of this will keep you busy for a while.

You'll want to start working towards Chronicle Missions as well, but you're aiming for the Celtic 2h sword instead. While it is possible to make 1h swords work, the road to that is very long and very expensive, so I don't recommend it. Since you're a physical DPS talent instead of magic, it's very important that you get Brionac from Generation 11. While the Brionac itself isn't a weapon you'd want to main due to low damage, inability to upgrade, and repairs that cost AP, every hit of the Brionac reduces an enemy's protection. Combined with Final Hit, which reduces your attack delay, you can quickly shred the protection off an enemy before switching back to your main weapon to deal massive damage.
It's important to clear Math Adv for the dungeon support box if you haven't already. It contains the Mir Dragon pet whistle, which is a pet with a powerful on-summon ability to lower enemy protection. You'll also want to clear Peaca Veteran, which gives a Bone Dragon whistle. The Bone Dragon pet also lowers enemy protection on summon, and it stacks with the Mir Dragon's debuff.
I'm going to mention music, but try not to worry about it with everything else I've said because you may feel overwhelmed. However, physical DPS talents benefit immensely from Battlefield Overture. Just using the Blaanid Lute to use Battlefield Overture will give you a decent DPS buff, and you can use Journeyman's Reforges to get 2/3 Playing Instrument - Normal Performance Effect to boost that even further. However, without the Bard Grandmaster and/or a Tuan pet, it's a pain in the rear to cast it every minute or so, and it really isn't necessary for the point in the game you're at.
Getting Elemental Knight is honestly the biggest power spike you can get right now. You can spam Journeyman's Reforges on your Celtic 2h. Try to aim for Smash reforges if you do it. If you're referencing the BiS guide, do not go for the Final Hit build/reforges because it sucks ass. (cont)
Get your Techniques (namely Redoubled Offensive, Time Shift, Iron Will, Blunting/Dampen, maybe Vital Surge). Time Shift Dynavolt Smash is a lot of damage, and Iron Will will make it so you can't be knocked back for up to 3 minutes.
Don't compare yourself to mages as they're in a tier of their own. EK is a lot of fun, but it's underpowered right now.
I forgot to mention: Brionac, the Dragons, and Music aren't going to be necessary for you to use for a while, but it's good for you to be aware of it now. You can ape through most of the storyline up till like g21 or so, but you are going to slam face first into the difficulty wall that is Tech Duinn at some point.
You might as well put a spirit in your sword as well, but it isn't as impactful as it is for magic. You can get your Rage Impact cooldown refreshed on crit 30% of the time at 21, and 63 gets you some move speed after getting a kill, which is some nice mobility. Make sure to use Rage Impact before you do your big burst skills.

i still think it's worth using journeyman's on a r1 item as a newb. yeah you won't rank up any further but getting +100-150% smash is better than no smash (or trying to roll it with your weekly reforges) (or wasting vouchers/pine cones on green reforges)
Journeyman tools are also limited on the levels that they can give. Its capped at like lvl4 or 5, and if you alredy have more than 1 line it wipes the others.
it's capped at 75% of the max value, so 15 for smash. in the context of getting something pre-r1 from chronicle it's fine since you don't have an existing reforge already, and you would need to get something 16+ or a dual roll to make using real reforges worth it

r1 gear from gacha can be bought on the AH for as low as 100k. What gear is a newbie going to have they would want to dump hundreds to thousands of journeyman reforges to r1 themselves?
