have 2 druids instead you dumb homosexuals hahahahaha GOTY
Yeah two elf druids was kinda redundant.
But sounds like Halsin was added as a companion at the last second.
minthara and halsin were both added at thevery end from fan requests. they were just supposed to help lead the main quest post act 1 and nothing else
>fan requests
Who tf asked for Halsin as a companion
Bearfrickers
Literally women playing early access.
They threw a meltdown saying they wanted him as a companion
I thought Halsin would appeal more to homos than actual women
Gale is in love with another woman.
Astarion triggers most peoples' gaydar. And if you're an experienced player you know the best end with him isn't as lovers anyway.
Wyll is black and owned by another woman.
And they're all the small sized male humans, Halsin is big man. Its natural that straight women would gravitate to the big strong man without emotional baggage or side hos.
>Astarion triggers most peoples' gaydar.
I don't think this is a problem for women, my female friend romances Astarion in her playthroughs (and no, she is not a transvestite)
Oh he absolutely does trigger women's gaydar. But he also triggers their saviour complex, which trumps the gaydar
>halsin
>no side hos
Man is literally incapable of keeping it in his pants and tells you outright he'll cuck you
Wyll is seen as a pet, not a companion. Mizora shits on him constantly.
And if you really hate Wyll, you can lead him into a relationship then frick Mizora and make fun of him after
him being a child molester turned them off
Would have made more sense to have Halsin follow us just up to cleansing the curse then he goes back to the grove, meanwhile the bard decides to join us either at the grove or at last light. Felt like dev oversight
Exactly, having 2 druids is moronic
Halsin was just added because fans begged for him to be frickable. So instead of a shortstack werewolf, we got the gay bear.
bg3 gotta keep the tradition of having 2 druids just so jaheira can mog them
She can join your camp if you play as the Dark Urge.
I didn't play as Durge, what's his story? Is he a leftover Bhaalspawn from the first two games or something? Do you have to play him as an evil insane murderer?
Why not just play as him and find out?
I don't want to play a 60 hour RPG again right after beating it once.
Well unfortunately for you, you chose the wrong character to start as.
Durge is the primo create your character AND have a story experience.
Tav is for wussies who can't handle narrative.
>Do you have to play him as an evil insane murderer?
No, you don't. You just have those urges to do those things. The story is explained during the course of the game since you start with an amnesia.
am not done with his story but you can generally resist the urge to do insane things although there are a few scripted events where you lose control
>Do you have to play him as an evil insane murderer?
You can fight against it while the whole group cheers you on and supports your inner struggle. Them cheering for you as you break yourself free from Bhaal was a nice touch. Jaheira consoling and watching over you as you sleep to help repress your urges and remind you you're not alone was also pretty nice. Even Volo was very supporting of helping your ass out.
As I approach the end of the game I realize... how do you even start Durge run? I don't remember any major choice that would lead to it
he's one of the premade characters
Huh, didn't even bother looking at that. Are there any other unique ones, I just thought that was play as the party members mode.
No, it's the main party members, Durge, and generic create-a-character.
Dark Urge is an origin character like the other party members, except it can be customized, unlike the others.
It's a neat idea, and the playthrough with it feels like the way the game was actually meant to be played because, unlike the generic Tav, Dark Urge actually has a personal connection to the larger plot of the game.
Durge feels like THE intended protagonist of the game given how heavily his backstory fits into the main plot.
Yes.
But no.
Some durge moments feel "tacked on".
Everyone was fairly chill about my unapologetic murderhobo durge turning the bard thot into a modern art piece.
>This is fine.
>I'm sleeping between a vampire and a slasher killer.
>This is fine.
Really? They all commented on it to various degrees, though they obviously don't all leave the party over it. You can even bring it up later to talk about it more.
It felt like a conversation about jerking off on somebody in their sleep, not about gruesome psycho murder.
Just some mildly stern talk.
It fits with some characters, take Astarion who doesn't really care as long as you don't attack him personality.
Yes.
It would make sense that THE OTHER night threat is glad that he's not the worst thing in the camp.
Lae'zel seems fitting, too. she comments on not really giving a shit about Alfira but says she's going to watch you like a hawk because you might be a threat to her. She says the same thing to Astarion after she finds out he's a vampire.
>Everyone was fairly chill about my unapologetic murderhobo durge turning the bard thot into a modern art piece.
This is my only complaint, it seems like they didn't really plan for anyone to actually admit to killing Alfira despite giving you the choice. You just get a couple awkward "uhhh ok, just don't do it again" lines. It feels out of character for everyone to be relatively cool you being an actual serial killer
>Durge feels like THE intended protagonist of the game given how heavily his backstory fits into the main plot.
He was.
Because he was. In EA the custom character was just Durge.
it probably was, for most of development
honestly, I wish I picked Durge my first playthrough when the game first released, but like an Idiot I listened to the devs and a frickton of other people saying shit like "don't pick it first because it derails the whole story"
and then I sided with the goblins in act one and by the time I hit Act 3 I was really wishing that I had picked durge because I had gone full Evil route and accidentally cucked myself out of 90% of the party members, but I was too deep into the game and too invested in what little sidequests remained to start over
Never listen to people like that. They're stupid.
I played both DUrge and Malkavian in VtMB on first playthroughs because it offers the most unique first virgin playthrough experiences. You wouldn't get that experience anywhere else.
Also DUrge was originally default Tav and Larian likes to lie out of their asses just as much as any AAA company.
yeah, like I said, I listened to the majority like a moron which is something I usually don't.
Like I wanted my first playthrough to be a 'serious' playthrough and I was heavily lead to beleive that Durge forced you to kill like every other NPC and auto failed sidequests and fricked up the main story majorly as a result
but instead it was just a case of "extra dialogue option to pick from" and it rarely ever actually forced the murder on you.
though as a result it completely soured my first playthrough because like I said, I went the evil route not realising how much content it cucks you out of and it pretty much ruined the experience because it ended up with my first playthrough being lackluster as hell and my 2nd durge playthrough was boring because I was actively ignoring it for 98% of the time because that was my good playthrough
Yeah, just play however way you like next time a new cRPG comes out. I think most people never regret a playthrough if they play they want to.
You choose him in character creation at the start of the game.
Are you a moron?
these are the "gamers" that frequent this board LMAO
select him as an origin character, you can fully customize him into whatever you want although his default look is pretty neat
new game plus
you're a very special donut steel bhaalspawn. no, you don't have be a murderhobo
My hand slipped
>playing a reddit urge
Lmao
Origins are the only characters worth playing as, and Durge is customizable. The self insert is one of the most boring experiences I've ever gone through in any RPG, and the facial animations for them are garbage.
which is fricking terrible since this is supposed to be a DnD game
>play OUR characters not yours
Kek, this I'm so glad I went with Dark Urge playthrough first. When I went to do a normal playthrough after I realized how shit the game was.
Right. BG3 doesn't have a DM, which mean your character is just an isekai character, you have nothing belong in the world, it's only belong in your head, a headcanon. In DnD, you make your own character, your story, background and other shit and the world interact with you like you're belong in that world because you have a DM. So enjoy being a self insert homosexual, just like Twitter trannies and Redditors who feel like they must have themselves in everything.
>BG3 doesn't have a DM
But that's wrong. You have a woman DM.
hey moron HOW can a DND game work as a VIDEOGAME ? it can t.
I loved my original character so much so that I cant even get into Durge
>The self insert is one of the most boring experiences I've ever gone through in any RPG
This is a mind-blowingly moronic post
>why yes, I do want to play a role-playing game
>why no, I do not want to create a character with a role to play
>I would rather RP as a character created by other people
I don't get it
This has to be the dumbest post ITT. Every classic, well made, RPG has some kind of preset background for the player character that you can customize, it's no different here for the origin characters. I never saw people screeching about BG1/2 having you play as Gorion's Ward, which is basically just an origin character.
The custom character wouldn't be so shit if it didn't feel so void of anything. Nothing you do when customizing them matters. characters never react to your character in any meaningful way outside of some potentially off hand comment about your background but this all ends on the same path regardless of their race or class. There are even story related moments in the game where the villains comment on your party and your created character doesn't get mentioned at all. They're treated like a ghost half the time.
Your argument basically just boiled down to "i don't care about actual role playing , I just make up scenarios in my head and leave it at that".
Because some people like playing-a-role not playing as literally me for the 200th time.
Unlike Tav, Durge is an established character with a story Arc that follows falling back into old habits or finally breaking free of your urge.
Seriously, where the frick do you morons come from?
you don't have to make tav a self-insert.
Yes you do, they have no character to them. They were specifically designed as a self insert. The character backgrounds don't even matter because it changes nothing, it's just a manner of how they gain inspiration. The character is a baldurian based on how you always get dialogue options for it regardless of how you create them, yet no one knows who your character is when you reach the place. Like it or not, it's 100% a self insert character.
you have no idea what 'self-insert' means
I'd just say the same to you, but that won't get us anywhere. Tav isn't even an actual character in the game. They don't exist in universe unless you play as them.
That makes no sense. Everyone has the same story beats. Everything Tav does, they do too.
All this tells me is that you never played as any of the origin characters. They're basically the custom character but with more interactions in them and they have more plot relevant, especially Durge.
I’ve played tav, durge, laz’el, gale and astarion and short of person quest stuff they just swap answers texts around. They all have the same replies it’s just Tav’s “mindflyer’s don’t have names” changes to “Lord of blood and murder” with Durdge “walking death bomb” with Gale and “The one that is going to cut you navel to neck” with lae’zel, and the Harper reacts the same way to all of them.
>short of personal quests
>if you remove the elements where they aren't the same, they're the same
So you're admitting that there's differences between them and they have more plot relevance? There's way more flavor text as well. It makes them seem like actual characters in game in comparison to the alternative.
Those personal elements add 3 hours at best each because most of it is the same used audio that happens when Tav/Durge/others are the main MC. The most detailed is Durge for obvious reasons but again, it’s 3 hours extra content tops. Gale get two extra endings but the main story stuff is just people talking to him directly and cutting out the parts where they have the Tav/other MC included in the conversation, so actually you are losing content playing as them just like Original sin 2.
Those extra Gale endings are just the same bad “hail me” endings with slight changes.
3 hours is more than 0 hours.
Yea but you lose hours on every pick, and every character you see and control their story even as Tav/Dark Urge, just not voiced and awkward still to no more control that if Tav was with them that’s the things you can play as any of them as the main player short of only the dream guardian/Empy. That’s it, Astrion can face Cazdor directly Gale can talk to Myistra 1 on 1. Shadowheart can face the nightsong without you butting in, you can have it all in one game regardless of what you play.
Their origin system has always been smoke and mirrors.
Not if they're scattered throughout each act, which they are. It's not like they have a 2-3 hour unique intro then it just vanishes.
>It's not like they have a 2-3 hour unique intro then it just vanishes.
It’s pretty close to that. All the changes is Tav/Durge have to find and talk to people for the same triggers to activate. That or set whoever you want to see’s event as the main MC and in some of them it triggers the same. Feels like only Durge for obvious reasons is lock out.
No it isn't because their content is scattered throughout the entire game. All intro's are the same.
Anon that content is accessible if you play as them when those beats come up. I was control Shadowheart when I took the elevator to act two and I got the narration like I was playing as her. My main was Gale.
That isn't what I'm talking about. You said that they basically just have unique intros then just vanish right before act 1 starts, which obviously isn't true.
When did anyone say that exactly? Most anon said was they have the same story beats. Which they do, they all have the extra same goals no matter who is the MC.
Play want you want but you are a tool if you think this story changes any based on the origin. Like anon said it’s either get raped by squid boy or kill him and save the city.
Durge is the only story you miss out on playing Tav or anyone else.
>When did anyone say that exactly?
>>It's not like they have a 2-3 hour unique intro then it just vanishes.
>>It’s pretty close to that.
No, it isn't. All their shit is scattered. All intros are the exact same. Read better next time.
Can you give examples? Everything I’ve seen shows it’s the same as if they are a follower it’s just the narrator talks instead of them, which is worse imo.
I feel like the game suffers a virgin experience where after your first play through you realize how samey everything is. It’s likely why Swen wanted people to save durge for playthrough # 2 becuase you wouldn’t even know what differences there were between the play throughs and Tav is way to similar.
Durge’s relevance is a waste at best, more so how long it takes to build to anything and really goes straight back in the trash by the endgame. More so if you played a good boy version.
Thing is you lose hours of content depending on who you pick anyway. Might be what anon was getting at, you play Tav or you play Gale but in the end the plot is the same: the Emperor tries to sleep with you and give you worms.
I agree on the facial expressions.
I don't like this weird constipated face my PC makes every time something happens.
dont care if durge is customizable i just dont like playing as an evil guy and none of the other origin characters are dragonborn so ill make my own big lizard thank you very much
also its too bad the dragonborn were an afterthought and that their breath weapon is the worst action possible
>playing a non-canon side-character
I bet you also romanced sh for the full cuck immersion
Found the gay lover. I bet Astarion and Gale are in your party.
Larian clearly hated her. She's simply deemed to be too "effeminate and weak"
Nah it's to pull the rug out from under the player by killing off a waifu
Especially since they know most people play Durge second so they really won't see it coming
Is she ok?
Yeah she's just resting a little
this kind of stuff makes me really sad.
Also makes me think about how domesticated animals are made to trust us then slaughtered by the same hands, the days before human slaughtering would have been even more sad.
It would be good if we could survive without animal protein but i realize the human body is made to consume it.
It's just sad, nature's a hellhole.
Beans + rice gives you a complete protein. No need to murder animals. The only thing I really need to supplement is b12.
Vegetable protein is harder for the body to digest.
I'm fine with eating dairy and seafood, i'm just a homosexual who gets sad knowing innocent, trusting things suffer in this world.
The point is, it's doable. Even if your choice isn't going to have a huge impact, you have to start somewhere with building an utopia.
bump
sardines have no souls and unfertilized chicken eggs are just bird menstruation. i basically became a vegetarian because sardines and eggs are cheap protein.
>murder
Murder is the illegal premeditated homicide of a human by another human. You can not murder an animal.
My definition of murder isn't a judicial one which should be apparent from the context of the conversation in which I used the word. By the same token I consider it murder to kill civilians that are deemed undesirables, or acceptable collateral damage, by law, even though that behavior would be perfectly legal under such a hypothetical scenario. Appealing to a legal definition in order to invalidate a moral statement suggests that your IQ probably isn't very high.
>My definition
Don't care, murder means murder homosexual.
Murder means whatever I think it means, subhuman. I am using the word. If you want to use a different definition you're free to do so.
>Murder means whatever I think it means,
To you, gaywad.
Yes. To me. I provided you with my definition, which would be an immoral killing. Want me to give you my definition of subhuman as well?
Why would anyone care about your thoughts and feelings?
When was the last time you had a discussion with another person that you managed to win? Because you're clearly not good at this.
I genuinely want to know.
I've made my point, you got destroyed, and now you're fishing for a reaction that you're not going to get. You have my permission to dump your soijack folder and then proceed to piss and shit yourself.
Do you not understand that if you died right now nobody here would care?
Can you post that again but without sounding mad?
I'm going to continue to consume flesh. Everyone else in this thread is going to consume flesh. We're going to continue to deliberately support an industry of violence and suffering simply because the end product tastes good. It will continue to mean absolutely nothing to any one here but you. You've had no effect on the world other than being some sweaty virgin's emotional punching bag for a few minutes. What did you hope to gain by doing this?
I said: without sounding mad.
Well?
I accept your concession.
Just like murder means whatever the frick you want it to mean, I have won the argument. I accept your surrender.
Gotcha. Anything else?
I'm going to go hunting because of what you've done here. I'm telling you this not because I hate you, I just enjoy making people mad indiscriminately. You are like the meat you protect, just another thing for us to consume.
I've already made my point. I'm not here to humiliate you any further. Have fun with the rest of your life.
Ok.
This conversation really didn't got the way you wanted it to, huh?
Are you trying to provoke me?
That was a pretty short hunt there, buddy. A deer ran into your front-yard? Or do you call driving over to your local Wallmart and buying a cheap steak a hunt?
Yes.
Personally my definition of murder is to give a cute cat a big, warm hug.
an insect pretending it's a man
The whole earth, perpetually steeped in blood, is nothing but a vast altar upon which all that is living must be sacrificed without end, without measure, without pause, until the consummation of things, until evil is extinct, until the death of death.
This shit is why i hate the "nature is so peaceful omg mother earth is so kind" hippy fricks.
Nature is a world of violence and pain and the only miracle is that within that darkness we can sometimes find moments of peace and hope.
i hate lizards so much it's unreal
Caring about animals is a form of mental illness. You are damaged.
Did you know, that if you kill her, before this cutscene, you will get white dragonborn gf
why post propaganda when moshe lives in your head for free
>Add like 30 bard-only items
This pisses me off the most, same with monk items, also
>The best item for your class by a mile is behind a very specific story choice so frick your RP if you want it.
>same with monk items
Honestly the elemental glove suck and there is nothing else
>The best item for your class by a mile is behind a very specific story choice so frick your RP if you want it.
Nah that’s just the game fricking with your lizard brain to have the “best” stuff. Game is broken with multiclassing alone. Hell the best item are those dinjin boots that give you free misty step every turn at the cost of being able to wear clothes, you can fricking break the game game with that kind of mobility, more so if you have 2 levels of rouge and go thief. Can’t believe they haven’t nerf them yet, then again, a lot of people might not like the idea of playing the butt naked avenger. Still this game’s best reward don’t mean shit if you understand mechanics.
>mfw I have karlach completely naked during acts 1 and 3 and naked when she rages in act 2
>Add like 30 bard-only items
I found a single armor set for bards (blazer of benevolence, cap of curing, wondrous gloves, boots of brilliance). Is there actually more than that?
why does everyone keep saying this game is sOoOooOOooO easy? i'm not even on hard mode and i'm constantly getting instagibbed in one turn by enemy groups with every possible extra action feat and can only win battles by savescumming for 48 misses in a row
It's only hard if you are a brainlet
>tfw your iq is so low you reprogram the game so it can kill you before you even get a turn to act
Because they quicksave before every single move in a fight
wait you can save during a fight? feels liek cheating
they save scum like a b***h so they know to place 40 barrels at certain areas
that doesn't even help past act 1 since nearly every fight is a scripted ambush or teleports you to the designated starting position with no prep time
yeah the fights are mostly talked out of and then engaged with the players will which is why they save scum till they past a skill check
Real reason? Because the game IS easy, if you're at all familiar with pathfinder system. Played tactical or whatever highest difficulty was and it felt on-par with daring on pathfinder (3 tiers below the hardest difficulty in that game). It's just easy, especially the fact that death is a meme in that game with how easy it is to revive.
Talking about pathfinder WOTR specifically here if it wasn't obvious. Also i'm not min-maxing at all or looking up shit or using barrels or whatever. The game would really benefit from another one or two tiers imo, after level 5 the game is just too easy.
Huh? In wotr you just make a good build and auto attack everything. Are you moronic? I'd like bg3 to have a higher difficulty but this is just wrong. Pathfinder is the easiest rpg I have ever played.
Like the anime anon said, Pathfinder games aren't hard due to gameplay. In fact, the gameplay in them is very easy. The thing that makes it "hard" for most people, is the system itself. The same reason why people think that BG3 is hard, despite it being very easy, is that they don't understand DnD at all. That same reason applies to Pathfinder, just more extreme. BG3 is tactically more challenging, but the enemies are lacking in stats, leading to the game itself being too easy and fights being over too quickly.
BG3 is hard for you, if you have no experience with DnD or Pathfinder beforehand. If you are familiar with the systems, the game is very easy, since the enemy stats are way too low.
>Pathfinder
sometimes i hate how overtuned the bosses are, and how much buffing you need to do
>"whats that, you buffed before the fight?"
>"mass dispel, frick you."
You either have a moronic team comp or you're just moronic yourself. The only time the game is hard is when you wander into areas that are slightly too high for you during early game. Once you hit level 5 shit becomes pretty easy for the most part. Just use your fricking spells.
my team is trash for sure but i'm still pretty sure shit like Balthazar is literally impossible without metagame scumming
Did him first try on tactician, without save scum or shit builds.
Just have a spell caster use an aoe crowd control spell (Hypnotic pattern work wonders), nuke the shit out of balthazar (potions of speed, elixirs can help). Then just clean up the boney boys.
What about Raphael?
Not fought him yet, but im sure it'll be the same as all DND combat. Have all the possible summons (Scroll of minor elementals, major elementals etc), CC the adds, nuke the major threats. If there's mechanics, have the character with the best movement solve it (Triple jump, rogue dashes etc).
my comp was monk/thief, wolf barb(karlach), fighter(laezel), and warlock(shart). I hasted my monk with warlock and hid shart and hope behind the door. I flew around with monk destroying each pillar, while karlach and lazel baited mobs to them. then Id bring Hope and shart in from time tome to aoe and heal. then once raphael transformed, held monster and nuked him. then i dealt with the remaining ads. I didn't save korrilla tho as i didn't know, but it becomes way harder when you have to cause you knock her out but you must keep her from getting clipped by stuff still
Idk if I'm moronic or if everyone else is metagaming but I just kind of kept hitting him with my paladin and Lae'zel (she went ham on him, landed a stun at a crucial moment and crit him like 3 times in a row).
I didn't even know you could destroy the pillars...
Bro... there's 4 glowing destructible pillars in the boss room, when he powers up he visually sucks something out of the pillars and the buffs he has have it in their explicit text he's being powered by the pillars
How did you NOT figure this out?
Idk I just figure it was a part of the fight.
I had like 15% chance to hit him with any melee hit. The only way I even managed to win was Hope's call to deity + heals out the ass.
You got a chuckle out of me anon. Just play 4 barbs next time. Itll suit you.
Uh, idk what the stats really do.
I get that abilities have chances to hit / being resisted based on stats but I always forget.
>build
I mostly put cool looking armor on my characters.
>I mostly put cool looking armor on my characters.
Based moron
Laezel at 16 AC is baffling. Dammon sells some really good plate at his new forge.
I can respect the hustle though. But if you prefer asthetics over good gear, just put the difficulty down bro.
>put the difficulty down bro.
Why?
I'm doing fine.
Yeah, just realized how op elixirs are (especially the bloodlust one, holy shit I was able to kill like 4 enemies in one turn with Lae).
Mages don't use shields tho. (At least not cool ones)
>I'm doing fine.
Fair enough anon. Tbh, you've inspired me to do a run with plain +1/+2 gear. Armour effect are so broken strong in this game.
>Mages dont use shields
I respect the dedication to the roleplay.
To be fair I'm only playing on Balanced.
don't discount putting ranged weapons on your mages or other characters who can use ranged weapons
for example for gale, there's a hand crossbow that gives lv 3 scorching ray and a hand crossbow that gives lv 3 magic missiles
putting them both on him gives him 2 extra spells
really though, this should be fine, low AC on Lae'zel aside but what really matters is how well you play it
also use elixirs, they last a whole day and by now you should have more than enough to load up on them
Btw anon. Gale can equip shield.
>lae'zel at 16AC
what are you doing
Not my fault there's no purple Githyanki chest piece.
dyes?
I meant
>Not my fault there's no Githyanki chest piece of Very Rare quality.
>human paladin/fighter
>Uh, idk what the stats really do.
How did a normie of your level find your way here?
This is my first CRPG and first DnD game.
I just like playing new things.
why do the women still have their underwear on?
helpful tip in games like this, if you get the option to inspect your enemy, do so, it's turn based
also only 15% chance to hit?
Failing everything else, you get the gauntlets or strength in that dungeon and any properly built fighter should be able to get at least 50% hit chance even at his fullest buffed, more if you buff them up, knock him prone etc
Raphael is a fun fight, if you refrain from just wrecking him with hold monster but it's not that hard if you actually use all the information available to you
He's got the worst WIS save in the game, and the chances of at least 1 caster having hold monster prepared by the time you face him is close to 100%
actually had to redo the fight without hold person just to have some fun
Now that he isn't getting cucked by hold monster he's at least a minimal threat. Use those control/banish outsiders spells your cleric has that you most likely have never used to control the adds. Really, the only situation where you should have problems is if Yurgir joins with Raphael and spams grenades at your feet which the other mobs will trigger causing massive damage.
Even then, while it was a bit tough I still 1 shot it on tactician. Clean up adds, get Raphael focusing on someone you can keep up, heal occasionally. Yugir did a burst of aoe, but Mass Cure Wounds fixed it up and I focused him first.
literally how. i fought him next to the nightsong and he immediately takes 3 turns at the start of the fight and it was a 50/50 chance he'd instakill someone with double sickness ray or cloudkill my party to the point i could never recover. turn undead range was too low and missed half the ones that were in range. i only beat him by reloading until a counterspell react landed on his "summon the entire population of earth as zombies" spell but i was tempted to just telekinesis him off the cliff and skip the fight entirely
Make everyone drink haste potions and zero that Black person down then, he really isn't that durable.
i think my monk always managed to save the double ray of sickness now that you mentioned it, since the fight would always start with the other 3 all the way back
Sounds like you've vastly underestimated initiative. Have decently high dex, equip items that increase initiative, maybe take Alert.
yah this, remeber BG3 uses D4 to do initiative, not a d20
alert is super underrated, having your entire team go before the enemies is gamebreaking
Yeah, that's my goal most of the time. My party is +8 initiative or higher. If things are dead before they have a turn, nothing is stronger than that.
Oh now I get it
I killed him on sight, I suppose you were fighting him later on
Turn Undead is an AOE spell specifically made for moments like that. What do you mean "literally how"? It even works on the boss.
When you are talking to him, move your party members.
>not having alert
>not having counterspell
yikes bro
Playing blind on hard, I think my team worked out good but it's definitely sub optimal, but Balthazar I thought was super easy, took him out in one. Cleric tav ran insta gibbing all the undead with summon spirits/blinding everthing with Lysander light and Lazael bonked him on the head a couple of times. Astarion spent half the fight eating shit from all the skelly archers but otherwise it was one of the easier bosses.
Balthazar is kinda shit if your brain is turned off. You have a cleric right there with you. Or at least the game pretty much tells you to use your cleric. Just turn undead and focus on the fricker. He's really not such a big deal.
He's not a threat, just annoying, it's honestly easy to kill him in the nightsong arena because you can just blast him into the abyss.
>turn undead
>win
Woah...
In the temple of shar?
What was supposed to be hard about it?
I dunked him with the boys so hard I don't even remember anything about it
NTA, and I dunked him too but hiding behind 5000 skeletons and spamming cloud kill is a pretty strong combo. It just falls apart when you're a story boss for the cleric party member.
Well I think he probably didn't even had a turn to play, maybe that's why I don't remember shit
define metagame scumming? also when did you fight him? i fought him during nightsong, first try he teleported in a perfect spot for eldritch blast, and i yeeted him. so i redid the fight "normally" it wasn't bad at all. my group was Monk, Wolf Barb, Fighter and warlock. during the normal run i did save scum 2 times cause i was dumb and positioned myself to be shoved off. aside from that it was a breeze just making sure my monk/fighter and wolf barb on top of him and used lock for AOE
anon realizing the "I AM FINAL BOSS" character is a necromancer and equipping some anti-undead items is not metagaming, it's having above room temperature IQ
just equip your anti-undead mace
post your team lmao
it was bad mostly because my journal kept saying halsin left after i went into the point of no return so i thought i had to take him to keep him. didn't really matter when i died before getting a turn
i have it
let me guess, no Blood of Lathander?
blood is a useless meme
cute lizzard
indeed
He's much easier in the Gauntlet of Shar. Just get the drop on him and whack his ass. You can initiate combat with anyone at any time, not just through dialogue.
swiftness potions
>Balthazar
Minor illusion bait him near a ledge in the gauntlet and push him off a ledge. 90% of the enemies in act 2, and 100% of the people in moonrise, can be made to walk over to a ledge that you can then shove them off of.
Beyond that, just have shart or gale spam CC and have everyone else focus on damage. Fights with 1-3 enemies are trivialised because landing even a single hold spell/knockdown equals instant win.
>my team is trash for sure but i'm still pretty sure shit like Balthazar is literally impossible
lmao karlach just gave him the eagle moonsault proned his ass and he didn't get an action before the coraked
I'm not going to say the same is super hard, but some encounters can be somewhat challenging based on RNG factors. And like someone ls said, some people actually just abuse the save feature to trivialize everything that happens. so then they say the game is easy despite basically cheating.
Because for 99% of the game you won't get punished for taking a long rest after every fight.
>Hardest part of the game is the early levels (1-4)
>Astarion soloes everything by initiating combat with a sneak attack and an extra sneak attack then hiding so that the Dumb AI either resets the combat or wastes turns forever
>Starting lvl 5 Gale rapes the game and your romance route
It is.
Monks and rogues can delete the game with scouring
The CODzilla crew deletes the game when they get lvl 3 spells
Paladin fighter and barbarians are unga machines that can take damage and Full attack everything to death
The ranger is the only one sort of left behind but he can manage everything too.
>CODzilla
not really appropriate to 5e, that's a 3.5 thing
5e, especially BG3 doesn't let casters be better at melee than martials
True, but all a caster has to do to win the fight is cast hold person/hold monster in the game. It's sad that Polymorph is the gay warcraft version instead of "turn yourself into an umber hulk and rape the neighborhood".
There's a whole subsection of turn yourself into umber hulk spells
Which does Cleric count as?
The game has been stupid bullshit hard until level 5, then it levels off as you dudes have a fighting chance with extra attacks.
It was really fricking annoying having stronger than average/boss enemies walk up to your dudes and triple attack hammer your dick off into the sunset in a SINGLE TURN, and have to save scum alpha strike the frick out of things just to make progress.
>and have to save scum alpha strike
if you're worried about alpha striking just drink the +5 init elixir, equip init boosting items and what not
I've defeated the final boss of act 2 in three turns. that was such a fricking let down
Classic DnD tbf.
>Giant super boss
>there's no other mobs
>gets nuked to frick
learned a long time ago if you want a super boss in a D&D session it has to have multiple health bars and multiple initiative counts
Yeah, they essentially have to play like multiple monsters at once. Combat arena effects also go a long way.
Because it is, I was killing every single boss in a single turn to the point it killed my plans of doing more runs after I finished it.
Same. The game is too easy, so I don't feel like replaying it. It's a shame, since the fights aren't even badly designed, just badly balanced. Enemies desperately need more health, AC, saving throw, spell DC and attack bonuses.
The worst was the giant skeleton
>oh shit that wasn't the boss frick yeah
>dies faster than the phase 1 boss
>Expected the other chosen to have a sweet phase 2
>Neither one does
Seriously what the frick
The game THROWS bombs, elixirs, special arrows, scroll,s and items at you early on.
If you refuse to use them it will be hard but if you are using them it makes the game a joke.
Fricking infinite next to 0 cost hill giant elixirs
hill giant isn't even that good, your melee characters should have 20 STR and 21 is mechanically identical to it
bloodlust is where it's at for melee
Its good at level 2 when you get them.
God, bloodlust is so dumb. My wifes Assasin/Gloom stalker just MELTS shit on the suprise rounds. Xbows OP
It's good for my MAD monk
>why does everyone keep saying this game is sOoOooOOooO easy?
Usually because people complaining about it let slip that they're brainlets. That said, if you're not familiar with D&D 5e or with turn based games in general, I can see the game giving you trouble.
What kind of party composition do you have?
bard oc that i kind of need to reroll since i went too hard into social skills and ended up useless in combat half the time. usually use lae, karlach, and rotate the 4th slot depending on whats going on storywise but gale seems the most useful
>Bard
>Useless in combat
How? You have the most versatile spell list in the game, a really good buff and a decent set of weapon proficiencies.
i prioritized stuff like speak with animals and detect thoughts and lorecheck feats
it automatically triggers the conversation when you get too close. unless you sneak which not everyone is good at
the only game I've played that's remotely similar was xcom and I'm rolling through it on tactician
either I lucked into an OP comp or you're not playing right
.t Kar/Lea/Sha/Monk(Durge) enjoyer
Most of these other anons are gays. The real reason is simple: Larian treats combat as a challenge to be "solved", and not as a role playing opportunity. If you approach combat in Divinity OS or BG3 with characters that are in the default classes, use an unoptimized build, and don't savescum when bad RNG hits, then their combats are really difficult. If you change companion builds, use an optimized build for your character, and savescum, then the combat becomes trivially easy. A lot of other RPGs treat combat as just another opportunity to role play your character, so they make the challenge suitable for less optimized builds. 5e D&D is normally designed this way, but Larian's souped-up version in BG3 is more similar to Divinity OS, where there is a noticeably increased challenge for builds with unoptimized action economy and damage output. The expectation from Larian is that players should either play on Explorer/Easy mode or be prepared to change character classes and items to optimize, at least to some degree.
BG3 is significantly fricking easier than D:OS thanks to the simplified action economy and you can very easily beat the game with base classes as long as you don't have a moronic comp. The game literally hands you a completely functional party in the first 15 minutes of the game with Lae'zel, Shart, Gale and Astarion. All you have to do is leave out the one most similar to your own character and not pick moronic specializations.
Wtf are you even talking about? All you need to break the game is cast haste on a fighter, paladin or barbarian.
All you need to do is make any build around Tavern Brawler.
The other anon was complaining about optimized builds, which tavern brawler could be thought of as, since it's Larian's homebrew shit, combined with their overbuff of monk. Basic martial will beat the game for anyone, without needing to care about anything else, in addition to being very intuitive.
Are you reading what potions and items do? Because that’s where the game breaks. You can have character go from 8 str to 21 and stay there for about 130 gold a long rest, you can have 4 dice worth of extra damage on your weapons at all times, and if you duel wield hand crossbows the game becomes a joke, more so if you get Yurgir’s and the act 2 vendor shop at moonrise. You’ll be dishing out 20~60 dmg a shot far ranged with low risk of getting hit back.
Game is piss easy, on balanced for my first playthrough I did the last boss of act 2 in 3 turns, then when I played through again on tact it took 5 turns.
The only hard fight is final fight, those squidward spamming magic missile is a total pain
If you come into this game experienced with DnD as a system it isn't that hard.
If you don't know the classes, and don't know how to exploit their strengths the best, you will find yourself challenged. A lot of classes require you to spend some time experimenting to figure out the ideal way to use them. And the game doesn't really give you a lot of suggestions on how to do that.
A lot of people complaining about the easiness of BG3 come from games like Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, which is a far more difficult game all around, regardless of whether you're a master of the system or not.
Compared to that, BG3 is an easy game. But that is like complaining that the new DOOM games are too easy because you come from playing Devil Daggers.
I played a lot of crpgs before bg3 and this one is one of the easiest I've played.
>make cute girl
>wont let me FRICK HER PUSSY
what the frick dude...
I heroically saved the squirrels from this woman.
And then I made sure she will not bother them again.
She's so ugly lmao why does everyone go crazy for her
why is everyone so mean to her? 🙁
Because all that b***h gave me for saving her ass again and again WAS A REGULAR CHEAP LUTE!!!
And if you go evil durge, you can get at least THREE lutes from her!
She gives you one of the best warlock robes in the game.
Its THE best robe in the game in general. Its bonkers.
FRICK she got killed at last light and I'm way too far to go back. My warlock will never reach greatness now
>HE best robe in the game in general.
Not really, Robe of the weave is better for most casters.
Who the frick uses warlocks.
Unless you are a dip munchkin.
Pallock is a lot of fun, especially if you switch to warlock once you inevitably break your oath to make it part of your character arc.
Not my fault locks get frick all worth a damn past level 4 (arguably two, but feats tho.)
why is warlock so popular to dip into?
Eldritch Blast gets it's extra beams regardless of Warlock level. Its overall level. Take 2 levels in lock and you have a triple attack that adds charisma and pushes. It also has a laundry list of synergies.
Potent robe+Agonising blast = big deeps for very little cost. I add it to my support character's so they can keep up with the rest of the party. Add the ring that gives the light debuff and you're gravy.
Nope, gotta divert resources to making goddamn Halsin a full party member. You know, another druid, so you have two now and Jaheira is just better in every way and intimately tied to the events of Act III while Halsin is just standing there waiting to be kidnapped by Orin because of course he's gonna be in the fricking camp.
Special edition, two years down the line. Get to it, Larian.
Yeah, I don't really see why they added Halsin.Did people really want him in that badly? Probably didn't help people didn't know we were getting a druid in Act 2 already.
Cut content.
Here's more.
https://steamcommunity.com/app/1086940/discussions/0/3812913565885064204/
Looking at the patches they might actually add at least some of the stuff from this list to the game.
It pisses me off so fricking much that a lot of the content IS in the game but they just removed the triggers for it.
No one gives a frick about the bard dyke, give me Helia the werewolf bard that got scrapped.
>no pomf =3
To the anon having issues. Something you may be missing. Have someone with counterspell. Its stupid good. It essentially makes boss characters skip a turn.
>Have someone with counterspell
I fricking love counterspell. Especially having 2 casters with it. Gives me a maniacal laugh everytime.
divination is even funnier because it applies to attacks too
so we're adding israel to the schizo larian china/india/ belgium shill bot cabal?
I was in six different threads before, during, and after the attack and internet shutoff. Take your meds buddy.
mfw
I WANT TO FRICK THIS TIEFLING GIRL OR WHATEVE, SHE CUTE!!? DOES THE PLAY THE UKULELE?? CAN I SHOVE IT IN HER ASS/PUSSY IN THE GAME?? THAT WOULD BE SOOO HOT!! UHNG!!
>gets killed in invasion of last light
>can't res
FRICK
She's the cringiest character in the whole game, she speaks like a current century basic b***h and would feel right at home in forspoken
What do you want Larian to add in the Definitive Edition?
>t. NotaLarianEmployee
more dating sim elements and sexo
threesome with Aylin and Isobel
halfing sexo companions
They need to add at least one small race companion. Not having one in the base game was glaring.
Hoping for gobbos...but a gnome, hafling or dwarf is also fine.
Larian is incapable of pulling off the based manlet type
Upper city and just more stuff in general. Maybe split act 3, give Gortash more time to shine.
drusilla sexo
let us frick a dwarf
Here's what I want them to add in NEXT FEW PATCHES:
>Upper city
>re-add Karlach good ending, Minthara pregnancy, and other cut lines / character moments
>epilogues
>crafting
>add more content to Act 2 (especially to the Creche)
>fix memory leaks
>add belts
Now for the definitive edition
>new origin / story path focused on Daisy
>some more armor variety
>Avernus as an explorable location
>endings more influenced by choices through the game
>more segs idk
Orin companion for Durge.
Playable goblin origin.
Add at least 3 new companions.
At least 2 evil companions added.
Dragonborn (Durge as a full companion)
Goblin
Dwarf or Orc
Make them 3 classes the other companions aren't
Bard
Monk
Paladin
More companions in general, some locked to evil path so you don't get stuck with just Astarion, Minthara and Shart/Laezel
change the appearance of the hirelings.
- create your own hireling !
>change the appearance of the hirelings.
Latest update allows you to do that, can't change their race though.
Just add back the cut content you fricks
PLAYABLE
GOBLINS
Helia being finished. she was a grandma halfling werewolf bard that apparently was very far into development, there were datamined leaks of her until like 3 months before launch
upper city and the final act being overhauled.
thats about it really, some minor changes to encounters here and there maybe an extra difficulty mode.
An ending that doesn't feel like a shitty asspull.
explicit sex scenes LIKE WE WERE PROMISED MOTHERFRICKER. option to trigger explicit sex scenes in camp. lvl 20 cap, more feats
The ability to actually get a hireling that I want. They added the ability to change their looks, but you can't change their sex or race so I can't do a Dwarf/Duegar team because the only Dwarf hirelings are both female. There isn't even a Dragonborn, it's ridiculous.
Give some content to the "evil" path.
As it stands its a fricking joke
Sazza companion with sweaty goblin sex.
i was fricking a not so pretty ukrainian bawd for two months around the time bg3 dropped then i pirated the game and saw this npc. dropped her because the resemblance was uncanny for me
being able to recruit the chosen and the Minthara pregnancy that alone would make the evil path worth doing also hag sex
>reminder that a Jaheira one night stand was among the cut content according to that one steam thread
I want HIM at camp.
>Dialogue options to let you semi-craft your own backstory with companion reactions/opinions
>Option to take Arabella on as an apprentice if you're a druid
>Way to fix Karlach's engine
>Final goodbyes and epilogues
>A "this could be our last night" scene with whoever you romanced
>Cooking (increase camping supply value from combining ingredients)
>Dates in the city
>Random encounters to spice up multiple play throughs
>Companion to companion interactions at camp
And I have no idea how this would work but...
>Raphael as your patron if you're a warlock
More Tav dialog options for roleplay would be a lot better.
I find the game drives you way to much towards passivity if you're not being a total butthole.
More Astarion :3
Two more evil exclusive companions for when Karlach and Wyl frick off.
Maybe that Nere guy in the Grymforge to replace Wyl as a caster and the big half orc b***h from Moonrise Towers to be Karlach's unga bunga replacement.
An actual evil path
>Make an accord with the netherbrain in act 2 when you get to the tower
>Most of the game is the same, Emperor fricks off after you betray him
>Final battle will be defending the netherbrain from legion of heroes and good guys
Add some evil path companions like the shadow druid chick and Nere.
Plenty of people in the absolute camp you can get in this without too much work.
Nere and the orc lady serving Ketheric could literally be companions the chosen could also be persuaded to serve you and be companions
Sazza who you save multiple times and you literally recruit as your minion had no reason to not be a companion.
The hobgoblin champ in the goblin camp.
Goblin priestess chick.
Could add Barcus and artificers.
I don’t even care if they are companions, I’ll take them as vendors with new items for sale or temp allies that show up later.
Siding with the absolute cult wouldn't make you any more evil than it would make you moronic.
Its selfish which is evil.
You are fricked from mind parasites which in act 2 you have a choice of
You either trust a fricking mind flayer
Raphael who as it turns out giving him the crown would do more damage than the goddamn netherbrain
Or a netherbrain
(Technically you could just pay a cleric to rez you and cut your head off too but the game refuses to treat this simple ass thing as an option)
Siding with the netherbrain is the same as siding with the goblins, its taking the guaranteed way to save your life as opposed to playing a hero and just hoping shit works out
It's not selfish, it's just completely stupid to trust a netherbrain to not instantly enslave you the moment it gets the opportunity. What's the point in being alive if you;re now mind controlled illithid cattle.
The game already has an "I am completely irredeemably evil and I will frick over every else for my own benefit" path and it's called Dark Urge, specifically where you full embrace your urges
Its also completely fricking stupid to trust a mind flayer.
Yet thats the plot of the game
You do not ever need to actually trust the emperor or even act in his interest. He is completely reliant on you, and you are completely free to betray him the second another way to protect you from ceremorphosis is presented.
If they were to let you replace his protection with that of the elder brain's, the power dynamic completely flips and you are effectively a pawn forced to do its bidding. If you refuse or fail, it can just instantly enslave or kill you. If you succeed in freeing it, it no longer has any need for you so it will just enslave or kill you. The game goes out of it's way to stress that illithids, and especially elder brains, are completely alien, soulless beings with barely even a concept of "bargaining" or "repaying a debt".
>trusting a mindflayer
this game has exposed just how broken the average zoomer is. how decades of conditioning people to embrace diversity has trained an entire generation of people to blindly trust and sympathize with monsters who blantantly and objectively want nothing more than to use and destroy them.
>oh i love the emperor
>you can trust him, he needs you uwu
>haha so what if they dont have souls, what does that matter 😀
>hey, just because every other mindflayer we meet wants to kill us and tadpoles literally eat your brain that doesnt mean OURS will. This one is SPECIAL, its going to be DOCTOR or an ENGINEER
it's absolutely mind boggling to watch.
Because the game treats you and your parasite as technically being one and the same, which makes it so that being revived brings the tadpole back as well. You see this with Gale's resurrection sidequest, where holo gale states that he has a scroll of true resurrection, and using it brings back Gale with his parasite.
Which is dumb and literally not how mindflayers work.
The only reason why rez spells cant save people is the parasite eats your soul.
Beheading someone who gets infected nearly immediately would save them
There is literally nothing wrong with giving the crown to raphael
Let me be good friends with my party members without it turning sexual. I don't care if that's all women know, it's a fantasy game so they can have the fantasy where that shit doesn't happen.
Upper City, Avernus, more underdark areas. More companions that aren't elfs or humans, bard companion and monk.
A way to get Minthara without killing the tieflings.
>i want evil characters without suffering consequences of being evil
You should have just asked for more evil companions.
I more just want the tieflings alive for the vendors.
Kobold companion
Make more people in the first area react to the giant cephalopod ship that just nuked half the landscape nearby.
At least add a bunch of basic, "Whoa dude, did you see that crashed ship", type dialog.
Playable goblins. Frickable goblins. Playable grung. Dodge action for all classes, ready action.
Deities for classes other than Cleric. Add Shar as deity, why the frick did you delete her in the first place?
Actual gameplay and narrative consequences for using illithid powers and dialogue, like you promised.
Alternative ways to get items like Potent Robe and Armor of Persistence. So far they are only available for 'good' playthrough.
Remove the Emperor and give me Daisy back. He is a boring ass-pulled character that has absolutely zero reason to exist in the story.
Add more content to Act 2. It feels extremely short compared to the other two. Felt like Rivington was supposed to be a part of Act 2 but was restructured and shoved into Act 3.
GIVE US BACK MINTHARA PREGNANCY SVEN!
THE UPPER FRICKING CITY. LET ME SEE THE BELOVED RANGER STATUE IN THE WIDE
I DID MY WAITING! FOUR YEARS OF IT!
I got a "dark urge" in my pants right now, if you are picking up what I am putting down....haha alllllright
be honest bros
is killing the tieflings and losing out on 3 companions worth it for minthara? no, I won't be a fence-sitting gay and ignore the conflict and move to act 2
If you've already finished their quests in a previous playthrough and don't really care about Wyll, Halsin and Karlach...maybe. She's very entertaining to interact with and genuinely well written but she has no content whatsoever. She doesn't have a single sidequest. Wait for the Definitive Edition if you really want Minthy goodness.
I already killed Karlach and don't care about Wyll or Halsin, so I guess i have no reason not to do it.
yes, she is second best girl after lae'zel
The player character is supposed to be a bard. Didn't you see the movie?
I watched the movie last weekend, I thought it was pretty fun. I was very annoyed that the bard doesn't do magic though. What the frick were they thinking? Not even some basic prestidigitation or anything.
How is this game this full of donut steels? I am so glad I never finished the game. I staked the vampire homosexual, killed the frog, and never looked back.
Cuz its swordcoast, everyones flamboyant
never played a CRPG before?
Larian and their origin obsession. Since most of your party member can also be the protagonist, they need some special backstory to justify their protagonist-ness. Hence instead of being just a gifted wizard you run into along the way Gale needs to be le Archmage and Goddess fricker.
Gale's backstory is the biggest piece of dogshit in the entire game. He's a very likeable character (post-patch) but Larian can go frick themselves if they think his backstory does the game any good. Everyone else is just a small-time player in this world by the time you start the game which gives you that nice character arc but fricking Gale is practically a demi-god pre-tadpole.It fricking reeks of first time 14y/o DnD player OC donut steel.
makes me wonder whether someone at larian looks like him
Then its pretty standard for a dnd character
This is more annoying when you know that EA testers constantly asked them to make her a follower, so much so that they had to respond. We still didn't get her.
>"Oh potion of speed, probably just gives you more distance, meh."
>read Potion of Speed's effects
wtf
A caster's best friend.
Mods fix everything.
>Spitting on the food your buttler brought you
Why shit on Sceleritas like that? He's such a chill helper.
>moronic half devil freak who can't write songs
Yeah i'll pass
you can thank WotC for her rewrites, there are rumors that WotC had their hand in making her and the aasimar dykes
We hating on super hot lesbians? 2023 Ganker is fricking gay.
When it feels so fricking forced i do hate it. You can feel the quality in writing nosedive with those characters. Compared to Bex and her husband or the tiefling siblings the writing for the dykes was horrible. It's obvious whomever was writing the dykes did not want to write them.
>WotC mandated homosexualry and diversity
>affects the writing
shocker
You want to autistically screech about the stereotypical jobber paladin woman acting lawful stupid all the time that's your business.
Alfira's story is completely fine and her GF is an absolute bro. There is nothing even vaguely bad about either one of the tieflings and you just want to be mad about idpol bs on the internet.
kys troon, the only well written gay in the game is Astarion
>No argument
>Only tears
Many such cases.
>muh arguments
>literal devil touched magical beings escaping from a word descended into hell
Okay thats cool
>they happen to be gay
FRICKIN WOKE FORCED BULLSHIT I CANT TAKE THIS UNBELIEVABLE SHIT REEEEEE
pretty happy we didn't get a tief bard companion tbh
one can only handle so much homosexualry
speaking of reddit, what happened to the halfling werewolf? that didn't seem to remotely surface in the released game
Larian are bard wiener suckers. Bards get unique dialogue options in like every conversation it's total BS.
This fricking b***h has the exact same face model as Shadowheart's troony friend. Frick you and frick the redditgays that try to push this stupid b***h into being an actual member of the party.
Swen has already implied she will be a companion in the definitive update next year.
Source? She's a charisma vacuum, I doubt that they'd add her to the party, especially since she's a dyke.
She was already supposed to be a party member, she got cut from the game.
That's not a source though. She might be cut content but it doesn't mean that they will bring her back
Okay, my final party is gonna be
>sword bard (me)
>Karlach
>Gale
>Frog
Hope I won't get fricked because of noheals by benching shart but she's boring.
If you are a bard you get 3 short rests a day.
You won't need healing.
Clerics dont really heal much anyway
Not that it matters since you have infinite long rests for 99% of the game
Who gives a shit about her.
Why the hell wasn't he a companion after act 2?
Black person just disappears then shows up in the final battle.
ENOUGH WITH THE TIEFLINGS
Issue is unless you want to add more characters you mostly interact with tieflings.
I GO TO BALDUR'S GATE
>Big dick Zevlor and posse
>Smite dragon to ashes
>Completely Mog demigoddess call in
>Eat thousands of magic missiles from ilithids, laugh
>Goblins were more terrifying than this
The lack of a tiefling round up in act 3 suck so much shit. You invest into them so much in Act 1 and 2 and they do frick all after.
how do i make shart useful outside of being a bless/spirit guardians totem?
Turn her into a light domain cleric.
Test
>play as wyll
>recruit minthara
>play as karlach
>recruit minthara
>play as OC
>recruit minthara
>wyll and karlach leave
how does this make sense?
The origin system doesn't make sense, it should have been dropped in DOS2. Dark Urge should be the only playable character.
But what if I want to rp as a good buy Paladin?
Rejecting your urge is the coolest Dark Urge path anyway.
But my Paladin doesn't have to fight his thoughts.
He's just good.
Dark Urge is the best origin path to play as the good guy, moron.
Resist the urge. It's a path that's explicitly laid out for you, and it's arguably the more fleshed out one.
Can you kill Wyll and Karlach, raid the grove, then revive them after the camp celebration to bypass them leaving?
Unless they patched it: If you kill them before they were ever a party member yes, but you’ll need to leave for act two and then come back to raise their corpses. They glitch hard however in interesting ways, like Wyll and Mizora will act like Khar is dead and Khar still thinks the blacksmith is alive.
There's too many elves. Like half of the team is elves. The other half are humans or tainted humans like Karlach and Wyll. The only companion who is neither is fricking Lae'zel. I guess the other races are too ugly to be added.
Wyll, Gale and Halsin are a waste of party slots. Every fantasy party needs a dwarf and an orc
Straight women would complain about their romance options being manlets and literal ogres
Literally EVERY SINGLE CHICK playing BG3 romances the gay vampire. They couldn't give two fricks about the bear. Only gay middle aged men care about him.
True. The boring cast of companions could benefit greatly from having a chaotic evil jerk of a dwarf arguing and fighting with them all the time
>LOL IT'S FUNNY BECAUSE THE DWARF IS ANGRY
cringe
The bullying on homosexual Astarion and rapist Gale could be fun
Yeah, grumpy dwarf dabbing on Larian snowflakes would bring a frickload of kino drama.
This game is one of the few RPGs where the whole cast I find boring. I never want to talk to them and I feel they just say the dumbest shit. I have been doing 4 man OC runs since September and have never regretted it.
Why isn't there an option to buy the Kobold and have it as a pet at camp?
Does ANYONE know what happens if you totally ignore the Hag in Act 1, will she still appear at Balder's Gate in Act 3?
Yes.
Yeah but Mayrina is fricked and I don't think you get the hag hair.
Yes, it’s scripted like you took the deal for the hair but removes lines that you ever met.
Does Durge always kill Alfira, even if you're trying to play good?
yes
Can't you just tell her to frick off?
Killing Alfira is pretty much one of the earliest Durge acts in the game, and is completely out of your control. You can "save" her by knocking her out at the grove, which causes her to be replaced by a dragonborn bard instead, but for all intents and purposes she's gone from the game.
Are there other required evil acts?
Alfira/Quil and the squirrel are the only kills that you can't avoid.
>and the squirrel
Even if you have speak with animals?
TOTAL SQUIRREL DEATH
Especially.
kek. What does Durge say to the squirrel before killing him?
Can't you just avoid going to the grove altogether to avoid killing them?
I laughed too hard when I got this, holy frick. Everything about it was hilarious.
Required no. But you will get a challenge to pass if you refuse the act 2 request. After that it’s just like Tav short of flavor.
Fun note, if you knock her and save the grove and then move on to act two before that long rest, it moves her to lost light inn and goes on as normal.
Mind you that’s an awkward game for hours of no long rest but it’s doable.
Anon you just need to save before the Alfira event happens, knock her out, then go to camp.
>which causes her to be replaced by a dragonborn bard instead
this is such a better way to implement essential NPCs instead of the bethesda way of bullshit undying NPCs
There are a surprising number of redundancies for different characters early on.
is warlock just shit at higher levels? I don't feel like i've gotten anything good from level 5-8. should I multiclass into sorcerer?
What pack you pick and have you tried hunger of hader?
I blame Halsin for everything that went wrong.
First playthrough, planning on being a goody-goody GWF Paladin. A few questions:
- can I properly crit fish and smite after knowing I got a crit?
- is there any particularly noteworthy gear for a Paladin early on?
- am I gonna piss off any party members by trusting/helping basically everyone
1st: No.
2nd: There's a few greatswords but they can be tricky to earn. Other two-handed magic weapons are plentiful.
3rd: Yes. Lae'zel, Shadowheart, and Astarion all veer "pragmatic" and are less concerned with helping people. They won't like it if you make everyone else's business your business. Of the three, Shadowheart minds the least if you're a goody two-shoes.
Maxing out Lae'zal's approval, even on good mode, is extremely easy once you get to the creche early on.
>Yes, turn it on in the reactions you can even do it for non-crit smites if you need to finish dudes off. It's on a per spell level basis so every time you get a new spell level go into your reactions menu and change that shit
>Not paladin specific but there's gear that interacts with radiant damage and generally good two-handers
>Of the 6 origin companions only 2 of them really hate you going out of your way to help people
>is there any particularly noteworthy gear for a Paladin early on?
there are gloves in act 1 that gives you two or three rounds of heroism when you use your channel oath
Dunno what the frick you mean by crit fishing but the game will automatically ask you if you want to apply divine smite when you crit. In terms of gear, you can get paladin gauntlets and a helmet early on that give you temp HP when you use your paladin abilities which is a nice way to increase your survivability. Not specifically Paladin related but there's a pair of boots that give misty step which is absolutely amazing. For weaponry if you're going sword pally you've got three great options, but it depends on what your team comp/player race is. Firstly there's a greatsword you can get by cheesing the first real combat, which does a bit of extra fire damage. Secondly there's an extremely overpowered greatsword you can get by using the Command spell during an encounter which does a ton of damage, including an extra d6 psychic damage if you're either playing a githyanki or disguised as one. It absolutely breaks the game early on as you're only meant to get it in the last chapter. If that's not broken enough for you there's a special Excaliber-like sword you can pull from a rock in the underdark that has a special ability which makes any damage done to enemies within a certain range do an extra d4 thunder damage. This means your pally won't be doing as much damage as with the other two swords, but if you combine it with a magic user who knows a multi attack like magic missile you can absolutely demolish anything in the first chapter since every single missile gets that extra d4 damage and they are guaranteed to hit. Also the sword is versatile so you can still use a shield with it for extra AC.
It's worth noting that companion approval rating only really matters if you are aiming to romance them. No one is going to up and leave your party because you were "too nice", even if you're constantly seeing "astarion disapproves". Only being really evil can make some companions, namely karlach, wyll, and gale, leave you, and that's only after very specific and obvious in game actions/decisions.
Also worth noting is that as you progress companion's personal quests, they'll start warming up to regardless and you can even influence if they themselves either become more "good" or "evil".
Depending on your actions in Astorian's personal quest he can actually leave you at the end of his quest line in act 3 if you pick certain options and your approval isn't high enough. Caught me off guard when it happened in my playthrough
If you frick him over he'll leave regardless of approval. He might even attack you there and then. Your approval and relationahip is completely irrelevant for his quest, which is moronic because 5 seconds ago he's into handholding and kisses and then tries to shank you. Absolute schizo writing
As someone who did the exact same as you and wanted my first playthrough to be a goody-2-shoes Dwarf Paladin, watch out for which oath you get. I obviously went with Oath of Devotion and after like 2 hours immediately rerolled to Ancients. It is so relatively easy to absentmindedly do something and Suddenly your oath is broken as Devotion lmao
just arrived in act 3 and found out she's a dyke
gonna genocide the tieflings on my next run
THIS is an EVIL WOMAN who has killed MILLIONS
>ywn caress the pointed ears of your evil mommy drow gf
Why even live
>Drow
Don't care. I kill her every time.
Honestly she deserved that
It's pretty telling that there's only one way to actually be nice to her: by doing everything to make her happy. Which makes you fall if you're a Devotion or Ancients paladin.
From memory you go up to the hag's grove via the underdark, kill the hag and then talk to her in the hag's house and she's unaware the hag dies and moves on.
god i love that buff smug dragon
>absolutely suffer through the whole fight due ot being level 3
>don't even get a good ending
Was there a way to save the brothers?
No. They either get killed by the redcaps or you kill them while defending Ethel. Even if you just KO them, they get treated as dead.
The KO mechanic is such a fricking waste.
It was good for XP farming before they patched it.
Other than that, I think it makes a difference in exactly one fight, that one fight being when you beat the shit out of Minsc
It was, were there even any points where it was actually supposed to be used?
I believe there's a very specific set of dialogue options you can do to make them not run to their deaths like complete morons.
But also I think it doesn't change anything narratively
DoS2 was hard for me.
git good
>omg RTWP is so bad because it makes the games so easy
>that's why turn based is superior!
>heh how do you even struggle with BG3 the game is super easy!
>omg RTWP is so bad
Yes. Good thing no one uses that garbage combat system anymore.
>without bother with trash mobs or buff stacking
But I had to do all that? Buff stack like crazy before fights and then spend 20min fighting a bunch of mobs taking forever to do their turns.
>acting like turn-based games can't be easy
I'm not gonna say DoS2 is the height of tactical prowess, but BG3 is piss-easy even on tactician because 5e is a shit system made for babies
If only you could reclass literally any party member to whatever you want at any point for free*
*it costs 100 gold but you can just steal it back right away with 0 consequence
This game has maintained it's supreme reign on Steam for 2 months, how will other companies even compete at de-throning the new video game king Larian?
>RIP AND TEAR AS DURGE
Gortash...save some ugly for the rest of us
Haven't read the thread. Just wanted to say Drow Pussy is pretty great.
The frog would be cuter if you put a clown nose on her.
I'm in the Trials of Shar in act 2, and I've done everything on the map except the tower. How much more of the game do I have to go?
A whole shitton. There's the tower and then Act III.
Act III is two maps, Wyrm's Crossing and Lower BG (including the sewers and the Temple of Bhaal).
Wyrm's Crossing is fairly simple and straightforward. BG proper has two dozen fricking sidequests and you'll probably be at max level before you're through even a third of them.
Did you guys rename your Dark Urge or did you let him go around introducing himself like an autist?
>1st playthrough: Razim
>2nd: Durge
>3rd: Full on autist, The Dark Urge
REMOVED COMPANIONS
Zevlor and Alfira? Who are the rest?
No idea, but you can see them in this early access trailer.
?si=qAt6unUZsbH9lEMX&t=45
>2 Tieflings
>1 Gith
>1 Elf and Human or another Elf
So you're telling me that if those companions were left in the game there would still be exactly zero gnome, halfling and dwarf, Dragonborn and half-orc companions?
Don't half-orcs have long ears and green skin? It could be that.
what do you get for resisting the dark urge?
>Add like 30 bard-only items
There are like 3 in the game
how many more weeks do we have to deal with these moronic bot posts?
My Durge didn't kick the squirrel
Its okay, theres a monk companion with all the good shit you get for monks right?
You would have to change a companions class to have monk, bard, ranger, sorcerer companions.
You get Minsc as a Ranger.
>He didn't play the OG origin
ngmi
>not making your own custom party
this game has the worst party members I have ever seen in a crpg
Kick them to the curb and go with 3 hirelings instead
Give it to me straight. I'm considering doing durge as 2nd playthrough. Do I resist the urges or do I go full murderhobo and side with the bhaal chosen lady?
go full evil (its a shorter game)
unless you were evil non-durge... which seems unlikely
For my first custom run I turned my halfling rogue into mindflayer so it was good I guess? Not sure.
Both are good but full evil Durge means you'll have like half the available companions.
Redemption Durge is the canon way to play the game, it's the path with the most content and coolest scenes, but evil is based too.
Just remember you're gonna lose the best robe for warlock
The road to redemption is all about the destination. You can have all the fun you want on the way there 🙂
But Bard is the best class for main character.
You DID play a Bard, right Ganker?
Bard/rogue skillmonkey, feels pretty mandatory to have Tav be a face in this game, unless you want someone else to be the main character
oathbreaker paladin Durge is more kino
How deep is the durge story? Is it just like, one quest or is it impactful for the entire game
I've never played DND or Pathfinder and I picked Bard. Initially I thought the class sucked dick but the more I played I saw how moronic broken Lore is because you can make enemies miss every other turn, learn many great spells and pass any charisma check in the game with ease. Oh and you get an extra short rest with even more HP gained lol. Vicious mockery is underrated as well
>How deep is the durge story? Is it just like, one quest or is it impactful for the entire game
You haven't paid attention to anything relevant to it, have you?
>I've never played DND or Pathfinder and I picked Bard
Ah, okay. You're not getting an answer then, normie.
They are not very competent.
Also Tencent owns 30% of Larian.
Remember that time you sperged on a Witcher 3 thread with this? You're never living that down, moron.
