Fighting games are inherently fricked because rosters for new games will always be worse than previous entries. I just can't get hyped for DLCs of characters that I already have in the previous game and they probably play better in that previous game too.

Those different "styles" have different movesets and mechanics. Those are different characters.

Both, her 5b and j.b are good and so are her rekkas which also let her get around the screen if they whiff. Her speed and range let her do surprisingly ok against high/top tiers, at least in my experience playing really good himes, neros, waras, etc.

Even accounting for how many sprites they re-used the fact a 2002 doujin release has a comparable roster to a game from an established dev almost 20 years later is a little sad. There's 16 squares on that grid and MBTL launched with 14.

only a few of the best characters have a meaningful tradeoff between moons and that's mostly because they're so bullshit even a weird gimmick version of the bullshit is still good
There are good and bad characters in every game.
not really. That describes a few characters but most of them play like three significantly different versions of themselves and they have different strengths and weaknesses, different enough that in another fighting game they would count as entirely separate characters if they had identical mechanics but different animations, like SF having a dozen different kinds of fireball/tatsu/DP guy. There's often a tier or so of difference between the best and worst moon on a character, sometimes even more, but they change a lot more than just losing or gaining one or two gimmicks and it's not uncommon to like a lower tier moon more and play that one instead and not be wrong.
