>It’s not in the game, for starters
Why do people even play these new games? Literally no mons. > we now know you don’t even know the most basic stuff about competitive
Imagine following the post gen 8 meta, lmao. Fanfiction indeed.
>illuminate now boost the power of beam like moves by 1.5 >starmie now gets psybeam, charge beam and meteor beam >new item - kaleidoscope: boosts the power of beam like moves by 1.3 with no drawback
>60/75/85/100/85/115 stats
I think it's fricked unless you boost its stats, only its speed is still sorta good. I'd change them to >70/55/85/110/85/125
and give it Regenerator as well instead of Analytic (lmao why does it have it in the first place), some starfishes can regenerate their entire body from one limb so it makes sense. With the +10HP boost on top of that it'd actually make it pretty bulky.
Its moveset is already good, but I'd also give it Volt Switch and Spikes. All in all this should at least give it a good niche as a fast, threatening spiker/spinner with good longevity unlike Samurott
I remember Zam dropped off hard after Gen 6
It's in perma UUBL hell
Gengar also sucks in current OU, the best you can get away with is sash/scarf destiny bond memes
Dragonite didn’t get any good until it got Multiscale, Starmie lasted a long time but has fallen off for a while now, same with Alakazam and Snorlax, Gengar got absolutely gutted when it lost Levitate, and Blissey didn’t exist in gen 1. Hell, Mew’s stats have slowly made it irrelevant due to power creep and even Mewtwo is slowly approaching shitmon status in Ubers because its stat spread is no longer exceptional and mono-Psychic typing just keeps getting worse and worse over time.
Zapdos, meanwhile, remains supreme. Static has single-handedly kept it relevant and even disregarding that Flying/Electric was and still is an incredible type combination, with Zapdos having shockingly little real competition in this space (Thundurus-I doesn’t even fill the same niche, and Thundurus-T is just riskier and less reliable than Zapdos. Maybe if it actually knew Roost…)
Zapdos’ one struggle was in Gen 5 when it went UU, but thats still better than the lowest lows that Dragonite went through. It wasnt even bad in Gen 5 OU, just the lack of Hurricane that really held it back.
It was only really held back in gen 5 by Thundurus-T being strictly better, since he was much better in the weather wars. Thundurus-T’s frailty only really became a problem from gen 6 onward
Bug is resisted by almost half the types in the game, including the two most important ones steel and fairy. It also contributes very little defensively outside of a nice (but still superfluous cause flying exists) resistance to ground moves.
Its saving grace is that it has one of the best movepools in the game nowadays, between big dumb STAB like Megahorn and Bug Buzz, busted setup moves in Quiver Dance and Tail Glow, and useful gimmick/utility stuff like the only 100% trapping attack in the game in Infestation, First Impression, Sticky Web, Rage Powder, etc. And of course U-Turn.
Normal got destroyed with all its move cuts, I’d agree with
Normal.
Bug mons either have Quiver Dance or access to high utility Bug phys STAB. Normal lost Return, boomburst is super exclusive and an normal mon lacking a high BP coverage is fricked.

Really GF only needs to do two things to fix psychic types
>Steel no longer resists it >Fairy no longer is SE against fighting
It can keep getting cucked by dark types, that’s more than enough to keep it in check. It doesn’t need to get walled to death by steel types, especially considering dark and ghost types are no longer resisted by it. As for the latter, psychic previously fulfilled the important role of a special-oriented check to fighting types, a niche it completely lost when fairy showed up and did the exact same thing while being better in other ways. Fairy can keep the fighting resist, but only psychic should be able to dish the damage back to them.
Mewtwo is still fine
It has genwun movepool privilege and being a top 5 shillmon it's got a decent chance at the getting access to cool stuff and is essentially dexitproof
The Ubers speed creep isn't THAT bad yet (ok it kinda is but 130 isn't the the new 95)
Psychic, after Fairy had a decent number of additions, is now (just barely) in that category of types you would like a Pokemon to not be. Countering Fighting was its most important thing, and that was robbed from it. Fairy counters Fighting AND Psychic's own primary counter, Dark.
>Illuminate works like a constant Rapid Spin as long as Starmie is on the field (Starmie is basically a foglamp) >Now has an extra moveslot to use instead of Rapid Spin
Automatic Hazard Removal and prevention would be way too broken as an ability.
It’s be Gen 8 all over again but worse because you need to kill Starmie, which with investment is a lot harder than you’d expect.
>Illuminate is replaced by regenerator >Replace Analytic with Sheer Force >+20 HP >-35 Atk >+10 Def/SpD >+25 SpA >+5 Spe >Learns Take Heart, Iron Defense, Nasty Plot, Flanethrower/Fire Blast, Shadow Ball, Focus Blast/Aura Sphere, Knock Off, Muddy Water, and Energy Ball
regen + any momentum move improves just about any mon that's going to be in a defensive or utility role >b-b-but I want offensive Starmie
not in this climate. Maybe give it tail glow (lol) or some equivalent. Nasty Plot isn't strong enough.
Could maybe play around its energy core lore for the offensive version >ability: unstable energy core >whenever starmie is hit by an electric attack its special attack and speed are raised by two stages, it still takes damage
I uhh guess. Hope you can get a rapid spin in and then they tbolt you and they are running bog standard set and happen to be brining zapdos. Any priority rapes you obviously
What's stopping it, besides people just not using it?
It’s not in the game, for starters
Just like with the poster above, we now know you don’t even know the most basic stuff about competitive: the pokemon that are in the game
>It’s not in the game, for starters
Why do people even play these new games? Literally no mons.
> we now know you don’t even know the most basic stuff about competitive
Imagine following the post gen 8 meta, lmao. Fanfiction indeed.
It's shit
>make it [arbitrary as frick fanfic format again]
why should I care
Hey verlisify
It's the real game
Cry about it VGCuck
Wouldn't you want it in lower tiers? If it's viable in OU and UU, that means it's a well designed Pokemon.
Imagine caring about what Koffing says.
Idk man this dude is pretty based, he's slow and unhealthy but he btfo's bruno and his team of fit gays.
>base 115 speed
>base 100 sp atk
not gonna cut it with modern powercreep lmao
Why does a Starfish not have Regenerator?
Because someone at Gamefreak thought it would be funny to give a Pokemon with base 115 speed the Analytic ability.
+10 Spe, +10 SpA
>illuminate now boost the power of beam like moves by 1.5
>starmie now gets psybeam, charge beam and meteor beam
>new item - kaleidoscope: boosts the power of beam like moves by 1.3 with no drawback

All things considered, is Zapdos the most consistent Gen 1 mon?
What other Pokémon has consistently been at least decent in OU? Alakazam? Gengar?
gen 1 mon specifically I meant
I remember Zam dropped off hard after Gen 6
It's in perma UUBL hell
Gengar also sucks in current OU, the best you can get away with is sash/scarf destiny bond memes
What about Dragonite?
Dragonite kinda sucked in the first 3 gens. It's only used in gen 4 because better-Dragonite was banned.
100%
Dragonite didn’t get any good until it got Multiscale, Starmie lasted a long time but has fallen off for a while now, same with Alakazam and Snorlax, Gengar got absolutely gutted when it lost Levitate, and Blissey didn’t exist in gen 1. It didn't get Hurricane for a while, I think it wasn't until gen 8.

>Psychic typing just keeps getting worse and worse over time.
Is Psychic the worst typing in the game now?
no, bug is by a significant margin
Bug is really good when it gets Pokemon with real stats.
Bug is resisted by almost half the types in the game, including the two most important ones steel and fairy. It also contributes very little defensively outside of a nice (but still superfluous cause flying exists) resistance to ground moves.

Normal got destroyed with all its move cuts, I’d agree with
that it’s the worst type nowadays
Literally every type is good when it gets Pokemon with real stats.
Yeah. So?
Normal.
Bug mons either have Quiver Dance or access to high utility Bug phys STAB. Normal lost Return, boomburst is super exclusive and an normal mon lacking a high BP coverage is fricked.

do some people not know that Analytic boosts power when they opp switches out to? Starmie has coverage enough to force switches..
Illuminate now increases accuracy by one stage on switch in. It can now spam Blizzards, Thunders, and Hydro Pumps with little worry.
Remove Defog as a move
HA is now Adaptability.
Done.
>psychic
nothing
it's over
Illuminate works like Intimidate, except with Evasion, and unlike Driplin, more than once per battle.
>100% accurate Hydro Pump, Blizzard, Thunder
>Illuminate works like a constant Rapid Spin as long as Starmie is on the field (Starmie is basically a foglamp)
>Now has an extra moveslot to use instead of Rapid Spin
*constant Defog is what I meant
>Just give it a completely broken ability that passively shuts down pretty everything on top of having decent stats!!11
moronic idea
Fits perfectly alongside Gamefreak's other moronic ideas.
how did you even come to type this post without remembering that goldhengo exists
I didn't. Gholdengo's a PITA and we don't need another mon with a shut down everything ability running around.
Automatic Hazard Removal and prevention would be way too broken as an ability.
It’s be Gen 8 all over again but worse because you need to kill Starmie, which with investment is a lot harder than you’d expect.
then use it
Replace Illuminate and Analytic with Protean and Regenerator
I cut every pokemon except Starmie
+10 SpA and make Illuminate a Compound Eyes clone. 100% Acc Hydro Pump spam and 93% Accurate Thunders and Blizzards. Can now wallbreak even easier.
+15 Sp. Def
Bring back Gen 1 crit mechanics
>Illuminate is replaced by regenerator
>Replace Analytic with Sheer Force
>+20 HP
>-35 Atk
>+10 Def/SpD
>+25 SpA
>+5 Spe
>Learns Take Heart, Iron Defense, Nasty Plot, Flanethrower/Fire Blast, Shadow Ball, Focus Blast/Aura Sphere, Knock Off, Muddy Water, and Energy Ball
It gets a gigaton hammer for both water and psychic. Done.
This but also give it an ability were it switches out after it uses a move
Starmie OU Edition
Speed 90
Special Attack 105
Special Def 95
Defense 95
Attack 75
HP 100
Ability: Starfish Regenetion
Starmie regains 1/6 HP per turn in rain
>flip turn
>regenerator
done
regen + any momentum move improves just about any mon that's going to be in a defensive or utility role
>b-b-but I want offensive Starmie
not in this climate. Maybe give it tail glow (lol) or some equivalent. Nasty Plot isn't strong enough.
Could maybe play around its energy core lore for the offensive version
>ability: unstable energy core
>whenever starmie is hit by an electric attack its special attack and speed are raised by two stages, it still takes damage
>take very specific type damage
>dies
Great idea moron
But if it lives it can sweep
sweeper build starmie ain't living a t bolt from anything strong enough to be in OU
not anon but
>assvest
I uhh guess. Hope you can get a rapid spin in and then they tbolt you and they are running bog standard set and happen to be brining zapdos. Any priority rapes you obviously
>shitty gen1 design drops to where it belongs
BASED and stay there till the dawn of time.
