You can't, but Withers has 1-2 Hirelings for each race. I think there's only a single female Gith, but you can change her gender, customize her, and change her name. You can also respec their classes and customize their equipment like normal companions. My Dryad in pic related is just using one of the normal hireling elves to customize over.

All you'll have if you take one of the male tieflings and change him to "female" is having a man who identifies as a woman (but sounds and looks like a man) in your party. Though you can remove his penis, which I guess is very authentic to the experience.

They said that comes after they're satisfied with finishing the game patches. It makes sense, since releasing it early would divert attention from patches/updates and constantly break mods made under it.
Well ideally only MAJOR patches would frick up mods with proper tools. A random patch for Skyrim doesn't break all mods, major ones with significant exe changes do. Its why the Fallout 4 mods broke, cause the next--gen patch came out of nowhere and broke stuff. Like if WC3 Reforged gets a minor patch the entirely custom scene isn't dead for a day, but in Dota 2 every patch kills customs and some are never fixed.
The issue is that they could always rework something that interferes with mods in ways unintended. Skyrim and Fallout patches frick things up because those games are programmed like shit and everything requires drastic changes, on top of the fact that the studios don't care. The point of an official modding tool is to not only make modding much easier, but avoid patches messing things up. Just wait.

What I mean is you can't really make her change her mind about anything, there's no character development, all she wants to do is kill and conquer, conquer and kill, the only difference with the romance is that she wants to share it with you for the sole reason that you have power, and power is the only thing she respects. Lae'zel and Shadowheart are more genuinely evil than darwin-brained Minthara, and much more complex. It's a shame, because her diegetic dialogue is some of the best around, but it has no bearings whatsoever on her relationships which are totally, mind-numbingly, ruthlessly mercenary, the same way a metagaming autist on /tg/ worships spreadsheets.

Larian in general didn't focus much on evil content. Minthara, at least at start, was evil path only, meaning her content didn't get much needed development time. It's pretty sad, but it clearly worked for them, as most people just play heckin' good people. Tards even cried so much that Minthara is no longer a evil only companion.
I really want to play this game already but it honestly seems daunting to even start and get into.
If you aren't willing to invest 300 hours in a game, don't play it. It's more overwhelming than Skyrim because the quest solutions are so fricking arcane. I love it, but this is the kind of game you can only play once a decade, if you're up to it.
To be far I've taken shits that are more complex than Skyrim- maybe over the summer if I can make the time, God knows I want to.
