>action "RPG"
>it's actually a fully linear action game with diablo stats crammed in with not so much as a single dialogue choice
>and all the diablo-like equipment stats do is unbalance the game and add endless submenus to trudge through
>fully linear action game with diablo stats crammed in with not so much as a single dialogue choice
U mean its same as other action RPGs, ie. mentioned by you Diablo? Thats crazy anon, didnt think about it from that angle before
no, diablo doesn't have actual combat. it is entirely about stats. you take the stats out of diablo you're left with nothing. you take the stats out of nioh you still have a competent game.
You would have an unironically better game
you have a much shorter game is what you have. Without loot and stat grinding the game will be like 100 hours with NG+, if that. I agree the equipment sprawl is just a timesink and akin to gambling really, but it can also be engaging in the same way Euro Truck Sim can be engaging. I don't think the game would be improved as much as you people tend to insinuate, but I'll welcome your single-sentence reply just don't @ me because idgaf
>but I'll welcome your single-sentence reply
>just don't @ me because idgaf
Is it really that hard to avoid contradicting yourself in the very same sentence? Do you have a mental illness?
I wish Diablo was more like Nioh with actual gameplay. Fun combat elevates the RPG elements, they're not mutually exclusive.
>not so much as a single dialogue choice
You can choose between Aquaman and Shibata Katsuie
You can use gestures a few times to elicit reactions
>balance
what is meant by this term, in this context ? You become stronger or weaker based on your stat allotment and equipment choices. That's RPG mechanics; dialogue and specifically dialogue choices are not a requirement for RPGs, it's just a "mechanic" that's often shoehorned into an otherwise gameplay-deficient title to make it seem like more game than it is
>RPG
So it might comes as a bit of a surprise to newfriends getting into gaming but we only use the term RPG wrongly as a joke.
There's actually little roleplaying! It's about stat increasing mechanics to make character strongers. Hope that clears it up.
homosexual Filter still works, good
This is the whole souls ""genre""
who cares I can do funny gestures at yokai and pet yokai cats and get in hot springs with the boys that's enough for me im satisfied
Great, looks like a kino game. Frick RPG trannies, frick turn-based RNG soulless movie games. have a nice day

Maybe it was pure chance that Nioh 2 is as good as it is.
>pic unrelated
Nioh 2 was a fluke. They must've had someone else calling the shots who is gone now or something.
How do I get good with fists
I dont fully get this Unbroken mechanic, it seems to be working kinda randomly sometimes where I technically use 4-5 skills but I only get one stack apparently
>How do I get good with fists

boring game 2bh. maps are dogshit. the 'diablo loot' is awful. itemization is literally worse than D3. But hey, if you're having fun that's all that matters
git gud Black person
>'diablo loot'
Simply equip the weapon of the type you like with the highest number.
>how did this shitty dev somehow miraculously make a great game??
It didn't, Nioh echochamber is just wrong. Nioh 2 is average at best.
They are all the same game but Nioh has more pointless bloat of skill choice tied to fightan inputs instead of simple slots which gives the facade of it being a better game
Is Nioh 2 better than 1? I've finished 1 on release and I hated how regular enemies were either stronger or more annoying to deal with than bosses.
it's better than 1 but that's not saying much, it still suffers from all of the same core problems as the first game
enemy variety is improved but they reuse so many enemies that you will still feel fricking worn out on fighting them by the end, the bosses are mostly fun because they withhold double boss fights that are cancer, the loot system is still dogshit, there are more weapon types but the existing ones are practically the same, the story is still nonsense dogshit nobody cares about and is impossible to follow without an education in japanese history, the mission structure still runs counter to unlocking shortcuts that go away as soon as the mission ends
dropped it at the first DLC when it pulled out two new enemy types and one was annoying to deal with and the other was a reskin that functioned mostly the same as an existing enemy. i could not tolerate another 40 hours of spamming the same highly effective combo strings on things
Both are pretty mediocre game 5/10 maybe a 6 if you're a hardcore tn fan, don't waste you time play sekiro instead
filtered
yes
its pretty much the same game but
new content, better balance, better skill system, 2 new weapons, character creator instead of William
was shit. Only good thing was the job system
It's a significant improvement that moves it away from Souls-like and more towards an action game. The burst counter mechanic in 2 alone is a major element that significantly changes how you approach fights which is best seen with the annoying as frick enemies from 1 like the tengu or wheelmonks which forced you to fight defensively in 1 but in 2 the burst counter allows you to fight them far more aggressively.
The story is worse but that's really the only downside.
>Nioh 2 is a completely different game from Nioh 1
Why is Ganker so dishonest when it comes to games?
it’s nioh 1.5
some new mechanics like yokai burst to deal with yokai chimping out, the addition of yokai abilities that act as a spender to allow you to keep up pressure even when your ki is depleted and new weapon skills and weapons
overall it’s just more of the same but better
I thought people were enjoying rise of ronin? Just from what I've heard of it. which is very little because it's PS5 timed exclusive and completely overshadowed by DD2
>I thought people were enjoying rise of the ronin?
It's hard and it looks ugly, so normies hate it.
>its hard
Didnt they giga further dumb down the combat even from Wo Long?
How bad are people at these games jfk
I read a while ago that they intended to make 3 in Bakumatsu shit
they'll ez asset flip a ton of shit (again) from Ronin once their open world boner simmers down
Stranger of Paradise was good.
is it worth getting the humbo bundo for 12$ and never playing it?
the only good game in that bundle is citizen sleeper
100% go for it, i would've bought this but my paypal doesn't work and on steam its to expensive
I pirated nioh 2 and have 100+ hr, stopped because my saves got corrupted
I only ever played through Dark Souls back on the 360 and thoroughly enjoyed it. I did try Wo Long an Gaypass for a few hours and I got whooped pretty hard but I thought it was pretty fun. I think I'm gonna have to download Nioh 1 that was given free on Epic to try it out first. Opinions are so mixed on games like these. Love it or hate it fare.
1 is good but 2 has more mechanics
Try both because i love them all, also learn and practice stance switching and fluxing
I THINK (hope) that they are just cooking NiOh 3 and that is why Ronin and to a MUCH lesser extent Wolong are dogshitass
I feel like Nioh 3 will remain a dream at this point. I don't think TN will recover after ronin. Literally barely anyone is talking about. Gankerermin are shitposting about how DD2 supposedly "flopped" but if that's a flop we need a new name for what happens to games like Ronin.
Do u mod ur nioh
the gameplay mod that allows more skills to be used. forgot the name of it but required cheat engine.

Nioh 1 & 2 was lightening in a bottle. Even 2 was on a decline when it came to everything besides combat. Most of what made it great was reused from the first game which is why Nioh 2 comes off more as an expansion than a sequel.
Level design is better in 2. Still average.
>recycles entire stages from 1
>better level design
1 was cool, 2 was a shameless cash grab. morons will claim it improved mechanics over 1 but the reality is they just removed weapon wall-clashing. You no longer have to pick your weapon/stance to suit your environment and can plow through without a thought. That + character creator (troon shit) = illusion of superior sequel. Based William wins.
Thanks, I thought I was the only one who thought that the base combat mechanics in 1 felt better.
It also ironically had better graphics that weren't saturated in horrible amounts of bloom, and the levels both looked better and felt more interesting to navigate, especially in the DLC.
The yokai abilities though, they make the combat in 2 something else entirely. They slap the shit out of the half baked spirit weapon mechanic from 1.
Nioh 2 is better than 1 in literally every single way. In fact I like to pretend Nioh 1 doesn't exist
You can also pretend you actually made an argument, you slop addicted husk.
>Level design is better in 2
Levels in Nioh 2 consist of nothing more than dilapidated towns/castles and caves.
Tips for this game pls, I keep getting killed by the 2nd boss and everything does so much damage
remove the cancerous diablo item shit and it's perfect
having to sort through so much garbage actively hurts the game so hard
There is a loot filter. Just filter all white and grey. You wont even see it.
there's still higher tier garbage that fills up pretty fast
they should just copy the dark souls items and call it a day
>rpg
It's a good game anom but come on.
Started playing yesterday and I'm getting my ass kicked by the first level. but so far I really like it. If it didn't have the shitty diablo loot and had interconnected levels it would be perfect. I wish From would copy the stance mechanic. Also, are there any lewd armor sets?
>Also, are there any lewd armor sets?
There's one with hip cutouts but that's about it.
Theres lots of mods, both for player and enemies
>mod that makes her less sexy than her default appearance
Oh my god sexo
The only lewd armor mod I used was the scarf remover from Shinobi chespiece since it looks dumb and covers up the fishnet cleavage
>Ass kicked by first level
I dunno which one you're playing but god help you when you get to the filter boss
I wish they put this game on 80% on steam someday
You can get it from humble choice for like $12
I know but i only have a debit card and it doesn't work with paypal 🙁
I got filtered by Hino-Enma in Nioh 1, should I try 2 or is it even harder?
It gives you more tools to use so it's easier if you use those tools and harder if you try to roll + attack through everything
They haven't made another game since then? Different teams.
I don't understand how did they achieved to make so many weapons and moves to make such repetetive game. Just boggles my mind. Maybe it is because of the same levels over and over again, same bosses. Main+DLC campaings are moronic long for a game so much focused on minmaxing. I mean, I don't see any fricking reason to reuse levels so much, you can replay them if you want anyway.
Action RPGs are the worst genre to ever exist. RPG elements have no place in real-time combat.
Turn based games are fricking boring man
You're both moronic in different ways.
Can I make a gimmicky frost/ice warrior dude in this game? A few of my friends have been telling me to play this for ages now.
Somewhat. There is water and ice magic and ninjutsu, plus weapons with elemental damage on them.
water maybe. not frost ice
if I remember right water attacks slow Ki regen and/or slow movement. Something like that. Each element has a passive effect along with its damage bonus if I remember right
That's Wo Long
Am I wrong or is Water basically a damage multiplier? Like, if the enemy is Saturated, you just deal more damage to then, right?
Yes, but less if you get them in Confused and that's when you trigger 2 elemental status effects at the same time. Most of the later difficulties is finding ways to cheese everything into Confused status with the least amount of work to just nuke them.
As reference, Saturated is -20% DEF, though Confused is -50% along with no Ki regeneration.
Water reduces enemy's defense by 20%.
Nioh 2 isn’t that good
>didn't install chest wrap removal mod
what is going on in this thread? every other nioh2 thread I've seen praises the game to high heaven, here it's constant negging
You can either take the redpill that the thread is full of some schizo samegay who hates it, or the bluepill that Ganker is not one person and you just happened to find a rare thread with people who aren't as positive about the game.
DD2 troons seething about a real game
It's usually Fromsoft fans who don't like admitting that the combat is much better that in their games.
It is though
Less is more
>Less is more
You're both mentally ill
Wo Lo g was better
Purity is the way to go
Ki pulse on block is great.
I gave Corruption a try and leeching KI from attacking someone is so goddman nice that I'm addicted to it now. You can extend your combos much longer before needing to pulse.
Purity, Elemental, Corruption. Alternate between Purity and Corruption after inflicting confusion to keep it going.
Also is it just me or was it vastly easier to upgrade/enhance gear in 2 vs 1?
am I really the only person that thinks these games are unplayable solely due to the movement? your character feels like its made from cardboard. theres absolutely no weight at all, shit feels awful to me
I hate to pit this against fromsoft but just look at how more fluid bloodborne sidesteps are, or just the general walking and running amimations in sekiro.
even ninja gaiden had better movement, especially 3. it wasnt the best game or had the best combat, but the movement was so fluid, they really nailed it
I love that actually
I can't stand action games where it feels like you're controling a boulder like Monster Hunter
You like moving around like some fat moron than thats you
Gramps can't into speed
Nioh 2 was fun but the diablo loot was terrible. Same with strangers
This. The combat feels great. It's the lame loot and dealing with inventory management that just ruins the pacing. That shit got old fast 2 decades ago.
Its a really overblown complaint since Nioh 1, you don't need to engage with for more than 5 seconds an hour until ng+++
>ng+++
That's another issue. Redundant difficulty playthroughs until we can access the underworld. Normal and Hard would've been perfect.
They launched with just one extra difficulty and the dlc add more that get legitimate changes and spread dlc enemies into the old maps. You also only have to play a pretty small percentage of maps to progress to a higher difficulty, so you don't need to do the same ones in each difficulty level
It deters many players from even trying the underworld content, and most people bought the already complete version of the game on sale.
If the two states your system can exist in are pointless or a huge chore that drags down the game, it's probably a terrible system. You could have the exact same fun build creation without sifting through hundreds of redundant garbage. Granted its a bigger issue in Strangers where a lot of the most gameplay is locked behind certain builds but its still shit in Nioh.
Its just of so little importance
I'd be very slightly happier if they turned off the modifiers on junk in the first couple of difficulty cycles before dumping it all on you to play with, aside from unchanging armor set stuff maybe, but it's so marginal it's ludicrous to hear it trotted out endlessly by people that obviously just don't like the game for unrelated reasons.
It was pure luck, they didn't actually know what they were doing
This thread is closed to all soulsgays
Too late. I'm a soulsgay and I'm playing Nioh 2. What are you gonna do about it?
I brute forced my way through all of nioh 2 spamming that one fists move that was light attack into heavy to instantly drain boss stamina and it was more braindead than any souls game except demon's souls
>but you CAN do all these com-
don't care, this was the most efficient way to win and the game should have been designed better
You didn't beat the game. Simple as.
I got credits so I am pretty sure I beat it, sorry your game was not thought out
You beat DOTN and the underworld like that?
Don't move the goalpost. Anyone reasonable would put beating the game as clearing normal difficulty campaign + 3 dlcs.
Personally I've had a terrible time learning nioh and I did play with fists on my first time. It took me a good 100hrs to clear and unlike the poster you replied to I used almost every move fist had to keep my unbreakable combo going.
My biggest mistake was playing with light armor because I played soulsshit like that and thought I could dodge roll to victory.
>normal difficulty
>100 hours
>tries to play like it's dark souls
Time after time you people show you've never played actual action games and still try to hold souls up as something special
its hilarious how a well executed 1 button combat is more engaging than all the tekken strings nioh has
in the end its all style with no substance anyways, game still suffers from the same problem NG1 had: just spam UT and izuna drop lol
What exactly makes souls games more engaging when they've played the exact same way for 15 years with the most substance and innovation coming from adding a jump button?
you'd know if you stopped shitposting for once and booted up sekiro. aside from BB (that game was the pinnacle of fromsoft, from combat, to level/enemy/weapon design, to art direction and "story") its the definition of less is more. yes you only press L1, sometimes dodge, forward dodge or jump, but its so well executed, that the overall experience is superb. I actually skipped sekiro when it came out because I was tired of fromsoft's formula, but when I did play it in 2021, I instantly fell in love with the game. I was, funnily enough, going through nioh 2 at the time and after playing sekiro I just couldnt go back to nioh 2. it legit ruined the game for me
You think I shitpost about games I haven't played? Sekiro is even more boring and repetitive than souls games thanks to the braindead parry being a core mechanic, 1 weapon moveset, prosthetic tools having limited slots and mostly being gimmicky win-buttons for specific bosses
All made even more abundantly clear thanks to it releasing right after DMCV
With Nioh 2's demon abilities, you aren't really going to tell me there aren't multiple ways to deal with everything are you?
>input reading
>well executed
alright, souls thread's two doors down. don't let the door hit you on the way out.
>mfw dragon's dogshit 2 flopped and now TN threads will have one less group of invading wienerroaches shitposting in them

How is it? I'm waiting for the PC port.
Does this game have character creation, and if so how does it compare to DD2's?
nioh 2 does, and has really good looking waifus
don’t know or care about DD2 so can’t say
Yes, and it's pretty decent.
>Nioh 2
>Is really easy to make a beautiful woman even without trying
>DD2
>Is extremely hard to make a beautiful woman yet is incredible easy to make la goblina without everything trying
Much better, you're not gonna be straining nearly as hard to contrive a character within the pre-existing parameters of a facescan
it hits a certain realism but at the same time they weren't embarrassed to just let you make anime characters so I'd say it's a bit better
It's nice.
>slow ass charge attack for combo filler
Fist with Reckless Charge is a hundred times better.
it's as if you could create your own Dead of Alive character
>nioh 2
>best action RPG
Is nioh 2 good? It's on humble monthly.
see
i was in the same position as you
I put 800 hours into it. It’s up there as one of my favorite games, but it scratches a certain autism itch that doesn’t appeal to everyone.
Will I like this game if I hated Elden Ring's last third? Everything after Maliketh just felt riddled with artificial difficulty, is Nioh like that?
nioh is actually difficult, nothing is really artificial
depends what you mean, you will continue to fight recurring enemy types but with more stat bloat
What I mean is that whether the bosses are actually difficult by being unique and original rather than just "delayed attack animation 9934398" or "near unnavoidable OHKO attack", that type of stuff.
The only OHKO are grab attacks if you wear light armor. If you play medium to heavy with decent % damage mitigation then you'll never get one shot.
However there's combo strings the bosses do that will catch you off guard and there's a learning curve to everything. My best advice is slap on the heaviest armor you can while staying in B agility range (under 70% weight) and BLOCK all the time to learn enemy patterns. It's the biggest mistake I made when learning the game was not blocking.
You commit to an attack and you get hit back? You'll get hitstun. You'll spam roll to get iframes but it won't work because you'll be hitstuns and die. However you can hold block when getting combo'd by an enemy the this is how you play this game.
most bosses are unique enough but due to how the stamina system works for humans, you will generally feel like you are just doing another fricking fight you've done 3 times already
some attacks will be OHKOs if you do not invest in defense or hp and it sucks
Nioh enemies/bosses do high damage, but they very rarely delay their attacks, the movesets overall are pretty fair, I can pretty much just think of Yasha/Suiki off the top of my head who unnaturally delay
This. Nioh encourage you to play aggresively, and I'm a moron who died over 20 times against most bosses because I play too aggresively. But I'd rather experience than playing safely and still get fricked anyway by false opening because of delayed move.
I really like that DLC 3 Otakemaru is a completely fair but still insanely hard boss because he has a gigantic moveset variety but all of them are very fair moves. He telegraphs a ton of his shit in advance and never tries to gotcha you.
The game is not fair. Most bosses, humans specially are terribly designed fights. The game is not for you. In fact, it's a shit game with no real substance.
Nioh is entirely 100% artificial difficulty
Depends on how willing you are to use Yokai skills or not. Some bosses can legit just punish you for pressing forward for longer then 2 seconds without parring/dodging their wide sweeping attacks that come out pretty quick in turn. Some bosses as well just outright blender pressure you if you let them breathe for all of a second. Yet unlike Elden Ring where spells are slow set up and super armor is rare, you've got a ton of tools to let you push past the foes bullshit with your own via Yokai abilities. If you're going in pure weapons though you will end up having a bad time sooner or later.
In Nioh unlike Souls youre actually expected to be aggressive and oppressive towards the enemy/boss and not let them recover
So take that as you will, but its not roll-roll-roll-r1-roll-roll-roll-r1 gameplay or difficulty
if you walk into it like an autist and refuse to do anything but basic sword shit trying to bash your head against it like soulsgays that want to "git gud" and don't think they beat the game otherwise tend to do then you will hate it
if you recognize what the game is giving you access to and play accordingly then you might be able to have it click, use items and magic, swap stances and learn ki pulse, and stop saving your yokai abilities and yokai form you get them back. there is a shitload of depth to this game and it's so fricking disappointing seeing dudes bounce off it because they expected R1 and rollspam samurai edition
nioh is way more difficult than anything soulsborne has
it has bullshit, but you also get access to bullshit so it balances itself out
you can reach points in the game where you truly just want to switch builds, weapons and strats completely while in soulsborne you can just roll->r1 every single boss and it isn't even a problem
managed to mainly 1 stance no buffs or abilities or items (except the heal pots you get on spawn) until the very final optional of nioh1 dlc with the fox and the samurai in the open stage
had to cheese that with the consumable items that give you living weapon charge
to so long learning some of that shit like fighting the ninja gauntlet missions in the final dlc lol
>artificial difficulty
Dont even bother then, TN's signature desing staple are their bullshit instakill grabs.
>instakill grabs
Only if you're wearing light armor, and at that point it's your fault for wearing light armor and still getting caught.

I'm getting filtered by dream of the wise.
Do I just slap Susano grace and call it a day?
Pls help
Post your stats right now.
I'm pretty low level like 290. I only have 150 on heart but everything else is sub 50
What the frick are you doing in DotW at 290?
Having fun, I really do enjoy taking on challenging bosses and I just sort of was killing everyone with a wooden sword and ended up at DotW
But looks like I have to mess around at the lower difficulties first then?
Yeah. You're just missing levels, I think. I get it, it can be boring having to go through the same missions with tankier enemies, but sometimes you just gotta do it. Sucks getting stomped solely because of your stats.
Might go back and clear all the other difficulties then. Thanks anon
Yeah it sucks but I think the gameplay makes it all worth it at the end.
>1-katana main?
Yes
>Is your equipments reach their max set bonus + yasakani magatama?
Also yes, I'm using 5 pc triumph of tranquility with 3 pc Saika.
maybe sword is hard to have a good damage output going
Aim for horns. High stance running attack is amazing for that, then hit em with a yokai ability and their ki is gone. Katana is great because of how quick on your feet you can be with it, it's not really about piling on big damage.
Guess you are right, although it does feel a bit frustrating when you are fighting against a zero ki enemy and you don't have "that move" to melt their lifebar. Also thank you for the help!
Nice, thanks for the tips I will be sure to look into that. I was trying out fists earlier since I do want to be able to switch weapons as you fight. Going to look up that set too. thanks a lot of the tips!
>light armor set
>1-katana
I think katana is just a shit tier weapon. At DoTW you can still get away with normal set instead of grace.
If you like light armor I'd suggest farming Hayabusa set and play fist. It's 5 and 7 pieces bonus set are great.
If you insist on playing katana try to find medium/heavy armor set. Personally I breezed through DoTW with First of Four Guardian set and play fist. If you hate playing fist, switchglaive is also great weapon in general.
>I think katana is just a shit tier weapon
What makes it bad? I'm currently using fists but I'm looking to switch to something else since im not really digging the playstyle, and i was actually thinking about 1kat
I don't think it's that much of a bad weapon but it's really lacking in some areas. 1kat is a great balanced weapon but it's not great at anything. At least for the new game ( your first play through ) it's going to perform at a good enough level, but at least I do think the problem really begins when you start moving further into the game.
There is certain move sets on other weapons that you can take one look and say "Okay this is going to be my main damaging move". Like limitless for the fists.
I would say to give it a go. All weapons are pretty viable but with some you might have to work a bit more to get more damage out.
Chaining combos doesn't flow as smoothly with katana compared to fist, tonfa, or switchglaive. If you want to spam 1-2 moves I guess katana is okay, and even then I think other weapons have better spammable moves.
Sounds like a skill issue, there are several 1kat abilities designed specifically to serve as a combo filler, more importantly True and Through
>I only have 150 on heart
1-katana main? Is your equipments reach their max set bonus + yasakani magatama?
My biggest filter was dream of the demon when they introduce the curse or w/e it's called and you're forced to ki-break enemies to do damage.
I learned about confusion debuff at about the same time and afterwards I cruised through the difficulties until getting to the underworld.
I hope they do a western fantasy setting next.
This. Getting tired of all the fricking samurai games from the last few years
all the samurai games like demon's souls, dark souls, elden ring, dragon's dogma, baldur's gate, etc
Is there anyway that I can download assets and images of Nioh 1 and 2? I want to fix the wiki (not the fextra)
anyone?
Finally beat this Black person. Next is that horse frick. Should I focus on leveling health and stamina?
>stamina
Just a reminder that the stat called "Stamina" give bonus to equipment weight limit. If you mean Ki then yes, level up Heart to increase max Ki or Courage to increase Ki regen.
Health and weight limit, a bit of magic and ninja.
early on you want constitution, heart, and courage, then get dex/magic for ninja and onmyo stuff, and put some points into whatever your main damage stat on your weapon is every now and then.
remember that weapons scale with three stats and gear level is more important that the scaling anyway so as long as you hit at least C/C+ scaling you're probably fine. ninjutsu and magic hit capacity cap at 30 so when you get there just leave them for a while, you ultimately want to have everything sitting at least at 15 to 20 later on then dump into your damage stat and whatever you feel like you need a boost in
YOU WILL NEVER BE DARK SOULS! YOU'RE JUST A CRUDE MOCKERY OF GAMING'S PERFECTION!

How do I stop sucking and git gud, Ganker?
I once asked the same of Elden Ring. Anon gave me advice that really stuck. It applies to Nioh as well: Nioh is a game of smoke and mirrors. Once you can see the smoke and mirrors for what they are, the game becomes much easier.
Also, you can repeat levels a couple times. Get a nice bit of gear and level up before moving on. That isn't necessary if you're doing all the missions including side missions in order of their level.
Learn to use iframes, build muscle memory vs enemies, learn ore shift, learn evade cancel and item cancels. Put the time into the game.
Learn pre shift***
Is splitstaff good
I can barely see it mentioned and on paper it seems like its got some nutty dmg with certain skills
Every weapon is good. Except maybe the great axe.
>Except maybe the great axe
The axe is bad? I was thinking about using it on my next character.
Most people just play it boring. You can combo with it just like all of the other weapons. Just don't be boring.
Sword and axe is good if you're a former DS player whose playstyle is hit once or twice then move away until you find the next opening.
Nioh is more fun if you play aggressively.
It has a very limited moveset compared to the rest of the weapons and the most "fun" you can have with it is spin2win which gets old pretty quick.
Yes, it's great. Learn to cancel animations on it by sheating it and then going into the next ability and you'll melt enemies.
it's really easy to get addicted to bapping enemies with roar power from 50 miles away
it's also really easy to get addicted to dragon dance spam and then getting fricked by smaller more mobile bosses/enemies that won't sit around and wait for you to wail on them
You can do some funny shit with it.
Splitstaff flash attack is just insane
Yes, it's good. It was so good they actually nerfed it several times because its skills allowed you to proc Confusion superfast by using elemental imbues.
I love fromsoft game but their fanbase are so miserable, act like children and think every game is worse than their souls game and fromsoft are the only sole good game and have everything better
switchglaive is kino
i would do the low+medium stance switch attack with ki pulse for 4 hits, then finish up with the spinning kick breakdance attack, felt like i was playing a rhythm game every time
Ronin's combat is fricking amazing and easily as good as Nioh 2
I've seen people say it's just spamming 1 button and occasionally doing a parry. Can you elaborate on what makes it amazing?
It's a fusion of Nioh 2, SoP and Wo Long
You have stances (styles) with SoP esque active ability customization within each style. Ki pulse is back. Flash attack is back, but there's also a flash attack between stances to help you chain your skills better. There's an advantage disadvantage system designed to diversify the stance usage, but nothing hard locks you into a specific style, a good player will use whatever he wants. There are Wo Long/SoP esque red attacks but the parry can be used to cancel most melee attacks so you can rapidly react to whatever the enemy is doing.
Then there's the grappling hook, which is just insanely fun to use. You can grapple enemies from above and break their neck, grapple environmental objects to launch them into enemies, launch yourself towards enemies or just slam enemies into walls with it. Sekiro's grappling hook wishes it was nearly as fun.
Instead of magic there are guns which have their own quirks and even melee range finishers. Elemental damage is back too, there's even a fricking flamethrower. Confusion is back as well, you need to apply two elements.
Together with jumping, verticality and flying it all blends into a fantastic combat system.
My only gripe is the dumb semi """realism""" they went for despite making probably the least realistic and most insane game in their lineup. Should've gone with yokai again, or at least full Basilisk/Blade of the Immortal bullshit. But there are still some morbid enemies like those huge claw homosexuals. Final boss is a fricking Sekiro Jetstream Sam and i hope we will get this jet propelling tesla prosthetic in the inevitable sequel too.
I love my Raikou wife!
got this game years ago when it was exclusive but never actually got that far in, went back and picked it up on PC and goddamn the gameplay kicks ass when it clicks, I'm convinced the early stuff and all the different systems and tutorials are just to filter out the weak
if nioh were to be released in todays time you homosexuals would find reasons to piss and shid your skirts. dont kid yourself. ronin is a great fun game btw and wo long was one of the best games of 2023
Someone gift me nioh 2 or humble key, ninja gods will bless you with nioh 3
😉

why is the anti aliasing in this game so dogshit?
I regret ever playing Nioh 1 because the moment I saw Nioh 2 reused all the weapon skills it could from Nioh 1 I lost all interest and still have not regained it to this day.
I even coped during the beta that they'd fix it for full release but nothing changed.
Where do I unsubscribe from your shitty blog
>Masterpiece
>Needs to mod their game
Copefest.
this made me look up mods for nioh 2 and
>it's all nude mods
why are you guys so gay
My fricking dick. Is she modeled after Chiaki Kuriyama?
Not sure. Most of Nioh girls' face are modeled after their voice actress, and Raikou/Minamoto Yorimitsu in the OP pic is voiced by Yuko Kaida.
Not all asians look the same anon
What's a good secondary weapon for Tonfa?
Splitstaff, I guess.
To be fair, you need to have a very high IQ to appreciate Nioh 2. The game highlights the difference between the two types of communities that engage with video games : "the creators" and "the consumers".
The creators are the equivalent of those guys who ride a skateboard or go skiing whenever they can, going to different roads, skateparks, rails, mountains or slopes, practicing different tricks and using their imagination to test what they can get away with/pull off. And they'll put numerous hours into it to become their own kinetic artists.
On the other hand, the consumers are those mindless pigs addicted to Netflix, jumping from the newest popular movie to the next popular movie, consooming and regurgitating the same unoriginal opinions over and over, wielding the appearance of a personnality, but ultimately leading very empty lives.
Us Niohchads belong to the former, the true gaming artists who wish to test the limits of game systems and ourselves. The haters, obsessed with "efficiency", simply want to expedite their experience to consoom the next content, and deep within their hearts, they always wonder why they feel such emptiness in their own existence.
Always remember your superiority.
I just over level and steamroll everything.
>those 2axe fat fricks in Ronin
Every post-Nioh TN game is good and you can't convince me otherwise. Having a blast with RotR
Wo Long was complete garbage, I got it for free on gamepass and still felt like I deserved a refund
Unironically skill issue
console exclusive trash, will ejoy pirating it when it actually releases though
same with ghost of tsushima, its finally releasing in a few months
got isn't worth the pirate
>game has denuvo
>UGH WTF SO ANTI-CONSUMER
>game doesn't have denuvo
>AYO DEEZ homieS DON'T HAVE DENUVO LMAO I FINNA STEAL DAT SHIT
>last sliver of red lasts as long as the whole third+ of the bar while its white
nioh2 does that bullshit and its fricking enfuriating
get a boss to near death in like 10 seconds then it just decides to stop taking anything resembling normal damage.
Is Rise of Ronin not good or something? Wo Long wasn't great, Stranger of Paradise was pretty fun though
I checked Rise of Ronin gameplay videos and it looks like Team Ninja trying to make Ghost of Tsushima copycat. High chance to be garbage.
>trying to make Ghost of Tsushima copycat
watch this webm then watch the one I posted here
and tell me how it looks like a copycat. Ronin might've been partially inspired but it didn't take anything from that game that isn't present in other open world games.
t. beat sushi right before ronin came out
Looks kind of fun. Is it short enough to beat in time for the ER DLC if I get it in May?
yeah
the one thing they had to fix for nioh 2 was being able to parry yokai attacks
they fricked up
Odachi parries yokai.
Parries need an entire rework. Some parries have to be humanoids only because of how their animation works while some parries have no reason to not work on everything but work on humans exclusively...
1 kat
>1kat
>Spear
>Tonfa
>Fists
These are the only weapons worth playing. Everything else is too basic imo.
1kat is extremely basic tho
1kat has a ton of skills to use with their own uses + one of the better core movesets.
I don't know what your point is with spear. It's one of the most fun weapons to use because of it's mobility and range.
>OdachI
It's like the defacto "I don't want to try too hard and shit out damage". It's a fun weapon but lets not pretend it has much going on with it. The stance "combo" system was done better by the switchglaive and i'll forever seethe that they didn't make it work the same way
>he doesnt parrygod yokai homosexuals and dunk them all day to prove shiftling supremacy
>instead let me stand 10 feet away and do pokes with a stick, im very smart
parrying is boring
>instead let me stand 10 feet away and do pokes with a stick, im very smart
You're seething very hard and don't seem to understand how to play spear, a lot of it's fun comes from it's mobility
Odachigays are brainless subhumans, don't bother.
>spear, the DSP weapon of choice, not basic
>odachi not on list
yep
you tarded
1kat is the more basic weapon you can pick.
The true samurai pick. Anything else is dishonorable.
Spear is shit, I expected snappy thrusts and what I got is a lot of dancing around. Switchglaive is the king.
>fluid moveset, pairs well with Susanoo grace
>range comparable to spear or odachi
>animation as quick as 1-katana
switchglaive is one of those weapons where you can legit just spam attacks and the enemy can't do anything about it.
I like the SG in theory but whenever I use it just feels like enemies have no idea how to fight against it and just die. tbf this is an issue with fists too but fists don't have frick huge range on all of it's attacks and it has a shit ton of skills.
learning to be relentless is what the game teaches you by having mechanics like ki pulse and stance switch combos, and it rewards you by making you bully bosses that used to rape you early in the gmae
this is me fighting the same boss 30 hrs earlier
>no switchglaive
pleb
>playing with damage numbers on
ngmi
yeah imagine wanting to see when you procced a debuff on the boss letting you do double dmg for 10sec
debuff icons dont disappear if you turn off damage numbers, troonybro
so you hate seeing information about the enemy on the screen yet you have status effects displayed? you sound moronic
if you make console exclusives then your reward is low consumer trust. if you make a good game it will sell itself without making exclusives. so now they will have to make a good game first before i will give them money to prove it, i wont be buying GoT, but if their next game is good after i find GoT good i might
like with IOI, i buy all their games day 0
>so you hate seeing information about the enemy on the screen yet you have status effects displayed? you sound moronic
damage numbers literally give me 0 useful information. unless you're telling me you're calculating the enemy's total HP? lol
they let you see how your build affects your dmg, which i know, is a revolutionary concept in an ARPG. seeing your build working is such pointless information!
Play a record, you're an idiot.
not an argument, you lose
if you don't get that anons reference, you lose. because you missed out on some of the funniest shit ever uttered.
nta but i have damage numbers on for first playthrough because i don't know elemental weaknesses
it's good feedback
I love Yorimitsu so bad bros
Sex with Yorimitsu, simply.
>coolest moveset
>drops the best skils for the sword in the game
>fun to fight against
She is perfect.
>fun to fight against
When I met her in the Depth of The Underworld, I just quit and wait the next day cycle reset.
same. need her to dom me.
Sometimes a project is about having all the right pieces together at the right time and producing something greater than the sum of its parts.
correct, and that's why their latest games are failing. wo long and roshit are just chasing trends that were popular years ago but fans have since moved on, or that style of game just plain got boring and won't be popular today. sekiro > wo long. GoT > ronin.
They thought "oh well nioh was inspired by dark souls and did good so let's try other games" failing to realize that Fromslop themselves had to go back to dark souls formula with elden ring since their other games sol poorly compared to dark souls. cloning ghost of tsushima and then making it sony exclusive was a dumb fricking move when GoT was sony exclusive to begin with. if they went multiplatform at least they might have stole the thunder from GoT when it arrives on PC eventually, but nooo.
Stop pretending wo long and ronin are bad. You literally just want them to make the same game over and over
I loved my time with Nioh2, but it is a game i can never replay. I always lose motivation after the first level
I would like Nioh 2 if it wasn't full of bullshit
Also if the weapon movesets didn't feel so unfocused, I guess. The giga moron skill trees and all the stances make it come off like fricking tekken where you're just supposed to filter out 90% of the movesets and focus on stuff you like, but that's the antithesis of the kind of design that appeals to me
>having options in an action game is bad
Hey kid the souls thread is 2 doors down
Options are great when they mean something, having dozens of moves that do the same thing is just excess
Also souls has the opposite problem, there are so few options that there couldn't be anything unique if they tried
Funny way of saying you're moronic and can't read or even see, apparently. Active skills have videos attached to them showing how they work, plus an explanation bellow it. The rest are passive skills. Lol, lmao even.
>He thinks the only moves are the ones you get from the skill tree of a singular weapon
You're really a moron if you can't tell different skills from trees apart. Holy.
>Has no argument
>Resorts to schizoposting about shit nobody said
Many such cases!
>when the playable model boss has a 1000x cooler unattainable moveset
i hate this shit
I wish we could have a mod to play as the Bosses, like how you can mod Quiet and use her abilities in MGSV
just did some quick research and it turns out theres stuff like that out there. i found 2 modders doing it, this one here which is outdated and then some other dude doing it but its locked to his patreon and since he has no profile on kemono so you cant pirate his shit either. interestingly the finishers and stuff also work on npc enemies lol.
?si=8kdiphVYyPZpp5zz
That actually looks cool... but I guess we aren't going to see the light of the day when it comes to that....
Sadge
i'm pirating an outdated version of the game just to try it out lol
How outdated are we talking?
And where is the download for the swapped models?
theres a cheat table that supposedly only works with 1.28.06 no idea how playable it really is tho
Someone was working on a mod for that but I don't think he ever released it or maybe didn't finish it fully. This man has the keys to Nioh modding that could theoretically explode the modding scene but he kept it to himself...
looks clunky af, really long animations that you seemingly cant cancel and probably no tracking either. i'd still do one run like that for the frick of it though
The point is that if you can mod in fully playable bosses, it might be possible to mod attacks and abilities into weapon movesets.
imagine playing online with this shit like invading homies as a boss
woah that looks really awesome
I got filtered by the difficulty of its japanese the last time I tried.
>start watching that new shogun show
>it's literally about william adams going to japan
>get the immediate urge to replay through nioh 1
never thought i'd replay 1 when i thought that 2 was much better but here i am in the tower of london.
Which weapon is most fun without skills?
1kat or odachi I guess.
Odachi. Stay on high stance, spam low attack.
Why is Wo Long disliked? I played a bit of it and I enjoyed it, it wasn't as complex as Nioh but it felt like a fun Team Ninja take on Sekiro.
wo long plays absolutely nothing like sekiro. you might as well compare mario kart to gran turismo
Main problems are the low enemy variety, and stunted movesets/stats to adjust for pvp
