? Everyone knows Amoongus is the best grass type anytime it's available, the fricker has won worlds almost every time since gen 5

The point is that he flexed on everyone by making a video objectively stating Amoongus was the best grass type. And proceed to 1# it with. The fact that this dude can simply make thoughtful videos and back it up with genuine experience right afterwards just proves he's the only person in the field worth giving a shit about. No shit Amoongus is strong, but his video holds more weight since he raped everyone with it yesterday.

Bro he got far because no one prepares for dumb strats like that. Its like being a high elo player on showdown and getting beat by a sub 1200 player that has moronic movesets and just makes the worst moves possible at every turn. Tbh hes kind if a homosexual for doing that to people

          Anonymous

He's doing what it takes to win. If you're competing for actual cash prize pools, you'll pull all the stops to win a world tournament. He has an expansive understanding of the meta game and using niche picks alongside strong meta picks allows him to subvert expectations. Knowing what can counter what's popular or gamestyles that can overcome what's dominating the meta is part of that.
Someone won a regional with Articuno this year specifically because they knew how the playing field was like, and made a team that played around the special quirks that were exploitable for that specific regional. Is he a homosexual too by being smart and doing what it takes to win? People like you wouldn't survive 1 fricking day in a VGC environment and it shows. Either find ways to adapt or circumvent it by finding weaknesses to the general staples and team comps.

          Anonymous

While you're right he's a massive homosexual, what he did is just make his team/mon anti-meta. This meta is so much solved than something most people would consider stupid or moronic can be a legit thing because no one prepares for it.

Injecting and modifying pokemon for comp made sense when it would take a person months to grind the mons through breeding and being at the mercy of RNG, but anyone crying about legality checks when you can make perfect IV battle ready mons with in game items is just ridiculous. It has never been easier to get competitively viable pokemon and I'm convinced that players are just lazy homosexuals now.

Are regionals actually serious? In most other competitive games, winning regionals is like okay but not that impressive

      Anonymous

Regionals are fairly huge events - this one had about 900 players for VGC alone, and even more with TCG players. You need to do well at regionals to get invitations for the higher-ranked events, as well.

        Anonymous

I was told there was something like 2000 TCG players this time, it was absolutely insane.

Are regionals actually serious? In most other competitive games, winning regionals is like okay but not that impressive

Regionals are very serious, I was actually at the one in Orlando and I only went 5-4, I had bad luck but also didn't play optimally against some players who made better plays. The prize pool is also pretty huge.

          >2000 TCG players this time

Consider the fact that if you have a 90% win rate over the course of your career is basically impossible. You NEED to win 7/9 games day one then 4-5 games in a row. Ignoring day one if you magically had a 80% win rate would still only be a 32% chance to win. Wolfe has won 2 regionals this season

      Anonymous

All in person tournaments are serious. It doesn't matter if it's a regional, international, or worlds; people there are trying their best to win. No one is saying "well this tournament only pays $5k and not $20k so I'm just going to sandbag." In that regard it's safe to say Wolfe is the best player of all time. Has he won the most Worlds? No. Has he won the most overall tournaments, across five different gens, each with completely different gameplay? Yes. If I had to bet on a single player to win a single event, with no other context, including the gen, or team restrictions, I'd bet on him because he has such a broad list of wins he has the best overall knowledge and skill to do it.

I thought Amoongus being disgustingly good was common knowledge. It's been everywhere since its introduction.
Hell, Amoongus being so good is precisely why the 2014 Pachirisu meme exists in the first place; Pachirisu was used to do Amoongus' job because literally everyone was expecting Amoongus.

Reg D will at least let Miraidon teams have an easy time with them. Chances are you aren't carrying Rillaboom and Amoongus on the same team, and the only other common terrain setter is Indeedee, so as long as you don't see one with an Amoongus you can just turn off Spore. I guess Terapogos would be the biggest threat there.

It just stays on the field forever and after one Iron Defense (trivial to setup even without support, much less fake out) it can chunk non restricted Pokemon for 80-100% of their HP. So far I like Groudon, Caly S, and Miraidon. I havent done testing with much else, though I have high hopes for Origin Dialga. I want to run Palkia on a reg F team replacing a Walking Wake, pic rel, but the b***h
      >doesnt get Snarl
      >doesnt get the free protosynth boost in sun, which torn is made to do
      >his best water attack is Hydro Pump
Plus, two dragons on a team like that seems unecessary
I'd entertain the idea of Wide Lense on Palkia but that just seems to bite compared to how Palkia felt last gen. Plus people actually run Dragon attacks on everything now, so Dialga's time to shine might be now while Palkia takes to the bench. Also spitballing how to use HoOh.

        Anonymous

From my experience, Incin is ever-present. A turn you spend setting up with a Howl can be neutralized immediately. Meanwhile, almost nothing is running Haze or Screech so Iron Defenses last forever, while alsogiving a +2 instead of a +1. Maybe a Howl set would do better in a double restricted format where passing a +1 to something like Calyrex or Groudon would be all it takes for them to run wild turn one. I've been running Body Press, Snarl, Iron Defense Protect.
        >but what about Flutter Mane and ghosts
Rillaboom, Ogerpon Heartflame w/ Glide, and Incin deal with those easy enough. Zamazenta isn't there to solo everything, it's there to solo everything after you get rid of its one or two counters.
