Impossible, there are too many restrictions
ChatGPT can't be used for fantasy reliably due to all the censors against anything over PG

But, you could use something similar to generate tens of thousands of dialog chains, store them in a database, to emulate the lively feeling. Using it directly is just asking for something crazy.

nta but sorry that was the most souless and sad excuse of dialogue that I have ever had the displeasure of reading. There is no character expression anywhere to be found in these 'characters'. I doubt the villainous bandits would ever be allowed to swear without the AI melting its processors over it. Putting this in games would turn the game into the most mild mush of processed 'entertainment' ever.

In the short term, the goal of AI automization isn't to eliminate every artist or writer. It's to have one artist or writer be able to do the work of 10 by accelerating their workflow.

NTA but that's not accurate. Just replace the AI with a human in that scenario and realize how that sounds to others.

If I direct another human to perform research and draft a document based on that research, and then I take the draft and edit it, am I the only person who did work in that scenario? By what logic did the person who drafted the document to begin with not contribute a vital part of the work themselves, even if I, as the editor, am the person overseeing them?

If I ask an artist to draw me something and they do it, in what fricking world would I BE the actual artist in that situation and not the person that generated the actual content? This is literally that "I made this", "You made this?" comic coming to life. Holy shit.

Its also the idea that once all content is eventually being generated by this thing that some nameless faceless obscenely rich stakeholder could on a whim decide to change how AI behaves and shut out a whole dimension of what the AI will decide to generate.

The shitty ones are out of a job. Anyone who makes anything transcendent is fine. Its the $20 YCH "artists" raking in $500 a year who should be worried.

                Anonymous

That's eventually happening to every job and artists aren't the first.
Another recent example was AI-powered vehicles. Truckers worried that they'd be out of work, and the answer given to them was "learn to code". But now, we are already seeing software companies laying off coders because AI can replace them too.

I look at it optimistically. We're on the threshold of the next great age of humanity, one where all basic needs (shelter, food/water, energy) are met by automation. Despite all the talk of war, virus, glowie shit, political corruption, whatever, there is a real golden age coming where we can all be free to pursue happiness without economic worry, whether that happiness is by sitting in a comfy dark room with vidya or going out into the wilderness to climb mountains. It will still be a world with challenges, but these will be challenges we deliberately create to test ourselves and push ourselves further.

I don't doubt there will be certain parties trying to stop this and keep control for themselves, but I honestly think we'll get there easily before the end of this century. Probably the current middle generation will live to see it. We're all gonna make it, bros.

Those are all already met in countries that aren't third world shitholes. We didn't even need automatization for that. You're delusional if magically AI will make it happen on a global scale.

                >magically
It's not magic. It's technology. I'm not saying the road there will be that simple, but I do think it's inevitable.

Sex mmorpg. Think about it. Roaming bandits and goblins have ai generated rapes AND art of your character (getting raped). You can also rape other characters and the ai generates the art based on your actions. The ultimate sex game.

AI has no knowledge of context. Eventually it will say some off kilter bullshit and shatter the illusion harder than “not enough NPCs” will. Plus, knowing it’s written by a shamelessly trained content amalgamation and not real humans who can know and care about a fictional world they write for instantly shatters the illusion before it begins.

Uh, buddy, do you know what language is? Are you asking for dialogue in a madeup language? Whether it was made by AI or a human, it's a mere regurgitation of preexisting symbols put together, if it consists of comprehendbale words in a preexisting language.

                Anonymous

But the symbols have meaning to a person, they are tools used to describe a thought. That is literally not happening with AI. Something tells me you are a mathlet.

                Anonymous

They have a variable meaning from person to person. If you talk to a cow it won't find any meaning in those words, because it's not the words that have meaning but your ability to recognize their use in patterns you've absorbed throughout your life, which is exactly what the AI does.

                Anonymous

But the words describe something external to the person. Your idea of words solely existing in the mind of a person is primitive solipsism.

Funny, as soon as geared machinery really took off, imaginations were captured by it. Many of the smartest people at the time were convinced by a new idea that the universe is best understood as a series of gears, perfectly arranged, driving the universe forward, and if we could just understand or replicate that model, we could understand reality.

Good thing us modern folk are totally not capable of being fooled into such traps today. No sir.

What matters is the end result, which is NPC dialogue. Considering you can't prove that any other person in the world is not an unthinking P-zombie that is merely doing the same as the AI, your point is totally irrelevant.

You create your own meaning when you read it. This goes for all communication.

It's no different than me telling you cat, and you think of a white cat and I think of a black cat, which are two different things.
In fact it's the same with the AI, what it spat out has meaning to the AI, but of course not in the same sense that it has meaning to us.

It's not perfect but considering it's early tech it's quite impressive, and there's no video game on Earth with as much text as WoW that is fully voice acted, it's not possible to pay people to record that much audio. It's not viable.
AI makes what was previously impossible, possible. Regardless of quality that alone is something.
People don't need to stand and read quests now, they can accept it and listen to the dialogue as the run to where they need to go. Visually impaired players have an easier time too.

I know it sounds great and all, but this sort of thread shows once again how technologically moronic (and economically too, in this case) Ganker truly is

Using AI to control characters isn't happening in the next two decades, if not three, due to costs and efficiency, you homosexuals don't realize how much money it costs the israelites to have chatgpt running on their servers, let alone whatever AI will come next, until the users' GPU and/or CPU wil be capable enough of running said AI without impacting the performances too much, and that hardware is mainstream, then nothing's going to fricking change and you're moronic for even hoping otherwise

Now tho, AI WILL cause a huge shakedown on the industry, and devs (the smart ones, at least) will fricking use and abuse AI to hell and back to easily create content, no more having to spend a week to write a couple quest lines, now all you have to do is 'review' what the AI shits out, meaning one of two things (or both to some extend); the israelites will simply reduce the effective number of devs (devs as in, 'anyone working on the production of said video game', including artists and writers, not just engineers), because less will be needed to produce more, OR, and that's going to be the big question mark, some studios (and maybe all) will simply push out games with a HUGE boost in the amount of content you can have in them, this is a bit too optimistic to think about for my tastes, the israelites won't want that to happen, but indies can and indies will, and that means the indie market might end up becoming an actual threat to triple A studios, and that means said studios will have to step their game up, or... buy the indie studios themselves :^)

Either way, MMOs suck ass and I can't wait for AI to make video games better and hurt/sink the worst parts of the vidya industry we have right now

The idea would be we create a general language learning model (what you cucks are calling an AI) then train it for specific use cases. So in an mmo we'd have a "guard" training set with specific information to guards. Main characters would have specific information to them. Players would be sharing what they talked about with their characters since everyone's experience would be slightly different. Could be dope. I'm picturing this in a skyrim type game

tbh I hope ai/chat models just keep getting bigger and better, maybe it is all just a psyop but I've come around to really loving chatgpt, when it first came out I was put off because I saw it as a glorified chat bot (which it is), and I had already played around with NAI and AID which were both shitty and random, the first few times I used chatgpt I thought it was coherent but too samey then after reading a bunch of threads I tried it again and instead of having it write things for me I started asking it it's opinion on some of my own writing and worldbuilding which I had burned out on and it started giving me better feedback than any Ganker contrarian ever had and now I'm back in to the groove of writing and having fun, it was like when I was younger and forums were a thing and people would have actual discussions, it's all made up shit by a bot sure but it feels closer to real human interaction than Ganker does these days, I can just pop in and ask it random shit throughout the day and it will at least attempt to have a real discussion with me

Any writing task including coding. It can create art and SEE images or videos now too.

Prove it. Let's hear some excerpts from its poetry, its prose. A musical composition.
        Etc.

You're free to look into this yourself you ignorant bastard. There is countless coverage of it and you can use it personally.

It's more about what you want to get out of it than proving anything to others, when I want help with writing I give it some lore and context for my world and ask what some good ideas for this or that would be and it gives me ideas and feedback, if I don't like the ideas I have it regenerate it or just outright tell it that's a bad idea

I'm not going to post my autism out in the open but a good example is I gave it a fantasy religion and asked it to generate a few order of knights, I chose one and asked it to tell me about their history and traditions and it spit out something pretty original, I came up with some different rituals they perform, feast days, etc and then asked for some additional details and flavor for them that it filled in, after that I did a bit of writing on my own changed some details and asked it for any improvements, it complimented me and gave some decent story beats I could go on if I was stuck

In the end it's not always going to be super useful and sometimes it will just fluff your ego but you could say the same for most real conversations, outside of writing help as well you can ask it just about anything and it will at least attempt to talk to you authentically, it can do basic coding as well, I asked it to help me fix up an old webpage I used to maintain for my projects years ago and it basically rewrote the whole thing and it actually works (locally at least)

It's free to try I would recommend at least giving it a go anon, here's literally a bare minimum prompt and part of what it generated, if you ask it details from there it will fill them in, I don't know what the exact context limit is but I've gotten 40-50 questions in and it will still pull stuff from the original prompt on some of my conversations with it

As another example when I asked it to fill in details from my order of knights it came up with a winter festival where on the longest night of winter the order is split up in to small groups and sat around fires, they then take turns telling stories in a row with minor punishment games if they can't come up with anything until the fires burn out, at which point all of that years new recruits are lined up and senior knight smears ashes from the fires across their face in the symbol of their goddess, very clearly christian ash wednesday inspired but also it's own unique spin that works in the context I gave it

Watched an old school runescape video that talked about it. That's the kind of game where they can 100% get bots that resemble players. They already show them talking to a runescape bot and it basically passes already. With how simple the game is, you could be the only real person there and never know.

      >With how simple the game is, you could be the only real person there and never know.
Not going to watch the video but this is far more a result of mmos being glorified single player games these days than anything else, runescape requires no interaction with other players, if the grand exchange was set up to just refill every item at a set rate (which I'm already convinced it does) you could play 100% offline and not notice at all aside from the chat spam being gone, you also have games like wow where the players don't even want to interact with each other and get offended if someone tries to talk to them at all or if blizz implements something new that requires social interaction, xiv is going the same route at this point with solo npc dungeons even being made canon in the story over "gather a group of adventurers/friends/mercenaries" if bots take over mmos it will be because players want them to

AI language models have the potential to greatly impact the MMORPG landscape by allowing for more interactive and immersive experiences. Here are a few ways that AI language models could affect MMORPGs:

Improved NPC Interactions: Non-Player Characters (NPCs) are an important part of MMORPGs, but their interactions with players are often limited to pre-scripted dialogue options. With AI language models, NPCs could be programmed to respond to a wider range of player inputs, allowing for more dynamic and engaging interactions.

Enhanced Questing: Questing is a core component of MMORPGs, but the process can become repetitive and boring after a while. AI language models could be used to generate more complex and personalized quests that respond to the actions and choices of individual players, keeping the game fresh and exciting.

Realistic Roleplaying: MMORPGs are often used as a platform for roleplaying, but the experience can be limited by the rigid dialogue options available to players. With AI language models, players could engage in more realistic and nuanced roleplaying by responding to each other's inputs in a natural and spontaneous way.

Improved Chatbot Customer Support: Many MMORPGs offer customer support through chatbots, but these chatbots can be frustrating to interact with due to their limited responses. AI language models could be used to create more sophisticated chatbots that can understand and respond to a wider range of customer inquiries, leading to more satisfied players.

Overall, AI language models have the potential to greatly enhance the MMORPG landscape by allowing for more interactive and immersive experiences. However, it will be important for game developers to ensure that these technologies are used in a responsible and ethical manner to protect player privacy and promote a positive gaming culture.

If someone were to dismiss my opinions as being generated by ChatGPT, I would try to clarify that while I am using an AI language model to assist in my responses, my opinions are my own and based on my knowledge and understanding. I would explain that ChatGPT is designed to assist in generating responses and providing information, but it does not have personal beliefs or opinions of its own.

To demonstrate that my opinions are not simply regurgitated responses from ChatGPT, I would provide specific examples of my thought process and reasoning behind my opinions. If the conversation is in a professional or academic setting, I would also point to any relevant credentials or qualifications I have that demonstrate my expertise in the subject matter.

I would keep in mind that not everyone will be receptive to new or different ideas, and it is okay to respectfully disagree and move on from the conversation if necessary.

While this woman is attractive (albeit with the generic south korean plastic surgery face which would result in you having an ugly freakish alien child who looks nothing like the mother), you can tell this is a photoshop because no one carries weight like this without having saggy triceps. The saggy thighs, the saggy lats, those are at least consistent with each other and she probably carries her fat quite nicely even without photoshop. But you KNOW she's shopped because women with this figure get chunky triceps as well and her arms aren't saggy. You aren't getting thighs and lats that carry fat in that manner without having triceps doing it too. She has left in the hourglass shape while removing the parts that make her a rectangle.

I don't know if it is because of the restrictions the guys imposed on the tool or if it is because of the nature of it which tries to reproduce a natural conversation (in other words, behave like a normalgay), but the result I got is as if some "normal person" was giving me suggestions for scenes, not some genius with crazy ideas. If you are not one of the hobby artists putting up ludicrous prices for your barf on a canvas tier art then this doesn't affect you what so ever. Hell, you might even stand to learn a thing or two at some point. As the person receiving art, you clearly benefit from AI art existing, even if you do not care for it since it will raise the bar to a more respectable level. Artists will either have to try to be better than the AI, which is very possible since the AI art is only somewhat mediocre, or just fade away for being awful. As the person having to actually look at the art, this is an absolute win/win situation that will only mean that the average art posted will have a higher standard than before.

                Anonymous

AI art is very specific. It does some specific tasks reasonably well. For example, making rather detailed-looking generic anime girls, except with wonky details. It's not really about "topping" it since the AI succeeds in things like shading but fails at basic logical things like the number of fingers in a hand. An artist who is already capable of that level of shading would never make these illogical mistakes that a machine learning algo makes. AI art is cool in its own right but it's hardly taking artists' jobs. The issue people tend to have with AI art is that it gets spammed onto boorus, twitter, pixiv, you name it, and the generators often attempt to pass it as actual art by mislabeling it as such. And it's plain to see too.

                Anonymous

You're comparing 1 pass of the AI with no inpainting or img2img to weeks worth of an artist on a single job. 1 AI job takes 20 seconds and then you can spend however much time you want on the image.

You should stop talking about things you've never used, it's painful to see.

                Anonymous

Yes, you are right. The speed at which AI art is generated is impressive. And it ties into the issue of generators dumping shitloads of this type of content into places where people go to see actual art, and mislabeling it so that even if people try to filter it out it still gets into their feed.

A twitter artist will frick up the way joints might work, or rarely add an extra finger. Mitten hands if they just don't give a shit or if they're taking shortcuts (Chris Armin does this a lot and he can draw hands just fine). AI hands are basically an alien trying to make sense of human biology and fricking it up in way people don't do even by accident. They're not the same, anyone who isn't being disingenuous on purpose can immediately tell you that.
Fricking hell I actually don't mind AI art, but this moronic stance of "must defend it no matter the cost" really gets on my nerves.

Yes, I think that it's possible for ChatGPT and other similar language models to be used in video games in the future. One potential use case for language models in gaming is to create more immersive and interactive game experiences. For example, a game could use a language model to generate dialogue for non-playable characters (NPCs), allowing them to respond to player actions and create a more dynamic and engaging game world. Language models could also be used to generate game narratives and quests, or to provide personalized feedback to players based on their in-game actions and choices. Overall, I think that there is a lot of potential for language models to be used in gaming, and I'm excited to see how developers will incorporate these technologies in the future.

I'm not aware of specific video games that have used language models like me for generating in-game content or dialogue. However, there are some game studios that are known for using AI and machine learning technologies to create game content, such as Ubisoft's La Forge AI research lab and the game studio Spirit AI. These studios are focused on using AI to improve game experiences, particularly in areas like dialogue systems, player behavior modeling, and game testing. It's possible that these studios and others have experimented with using language models like me for game development, although I don't have specific information about their use cases.

    Hold up.

Why couldnt the AI create dynamic fetch quests on the fly, the outcomes of which would change the world? If you save a kidnapped stableboy, the AI later gets him married, and their son might one day want to join you in an adventure. He might die on it, or you might refuse and buy a horse off him later. Why not? The AI just needs to be hooked to the game functions. Im sure nothing bad would happen.

The main issue with all that is getting the AI to remember all that. It can generate stuff on the fly but each detail it has to remember makes the process exponentially more taxing. That's why most AI you see these days are incredibly forgetful: it only keeps a few details in memory, and most of them come from the immediate prompt or details built directly into the model.

Right. Im sure it could be designed to work around the limitations though. Like instead of representing actual humans, the characters that the AI controls are a sort of forgetful fantasy creature that only cares about the immediate things.
        >I will join you as a squire in your adventure!
        >This forest is too scary, Im going home now!
        >Im back! Huh? I cant remember being your squire, I'm not gonna derust your mail.

It's not, hard you probably just have skill issues.

Yes, you are right. The speed at which AI art is generated is impressive. And it ties into the issue of generators dumping shitloads of this type of content into places where people go to see actual art, and mislabeling it so that even if people try to filter it out it still gets into their feed.

I would have thought AI art would be something people could work together on and make nice things, but it just immediately devolved into the same thing they complained artists are doing, except they do it in 1/100 the time.
