Please... leave it alone...
Give me that fricking mobile game, Sega. I don't care that it was on fricking phones, it picked up after the original games. I WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED, SEGA. TELLLL MEEEEEEEEEE
Here's to it possibly brought back under this now and good my friend, and that Tony stays 100 miles away from it
at least camelot still makes games
please dear god don't give us a new gunstar heroes, all the original developers who made it great left the industry a long time ago
I would suck every dick itt for another Shining Resonance game, can't believe SEGA made the best Tales game
At this point, I would just want closure.
Just have SEGA release the rest of Shining Force III outside of Japan, and/or a Shining Anthology of EVERYTHING made by Camelot.
After that, they can be done with Shining forever, and we can pretend that the last 25 years never happened. ;_;
With the way some of the games seem like complete reworks to the game's gameplay style(golden axe and streets of rage are 3D brawlers now), would they even make shining force like the original game? It'd honestly be funny if they took the game that'd have the easiest lay up(literally just make it fire emblem) and still decided to go in some completely different direction.
There are so many Shining games and all of them are a different game format.
>Force
>in the Darkness
>Soul and Tears
>Resonance
I could see them fricking resurrect the name and make Shining Kart.
if they're going for the nostalgia angle, like they're going for here though, if they were to try and bring shining back, they would go with Force.
I used to fap to May from SF2
God I loved Burning Rangers
Give me Outrun 3.
Best part of the night just for jet set alone.
What are the chances that even just one (1) of these ends up being good
I don't trust shit from nuSega
The new shinobu is obviously being made by Dotemu so it'll be good
If Dotemu is in charge of Shinobi it will be a day 1 pirating and buying on sale for me.
Yeah I'm cautiously hopeful for the others but Shinobi is pretty much guaranteed to be good. Dotemu simply have an unparalleled understanding on how to reboot classic franchises at this point.
A good Shinobi game is all I need. Arigato, SEGA.
All these games have always been jank even back then but they were fun jank. I don't expect these new games to be high quality but at least they should be fun.
>Streets of Rage, Golden Axe, and Shinobi
>Jank
I could understand Crazy Taxi and even JSR to an extent but to say that of the other three is just wrong.
This board is full of zoomers. They don't know shit about 90s Sega
Golden Axe was jank as frick.
No it wasn't.
Golden Axe set a standard in fantasy beat 'em ups that was so high, the genre died.
The Capcom DnD games are better.
Mate are you kidding, these are 1mb 16 roms from 1992, don't get me wrong they were fun as frick when you were a kid back in the day but thisb shit is gonna have to be fleshed out by some nu Sega moron who can barely dress themselves. Proceed with caution....
I don't think there's any better proof of what a nebulous buzzword "jank" is than for someone to use it to describe Streets of Rage 2
>Streets 2
>Golden Axe 3
>Shinobi 3
Some of the tightest gameplay and finest coding of all time, the only jank sega games were in the Saturn/Dreamcast era. The Golden Axe reboot on PS3/360 sucked, though.
SoR2 was a buggy unfinished mess with notably worse gameplay than the other games in the series and only gets a pass because of its music (mostly plagiarised)
Nice bait
Nice being a moron
And that makes it bad how? Need I remind you of the Final Fight stun lock infinite?
>Some of the tightest gameplay and finest coding of all time
I proved you wrong, now you are trying to move goalposts.
>Final Fight 1
>Tight
Get the frick out of here. What's next, you're gonna tell me that SNES Final Fight 1 was better than SoR1?
now you try to straw man after getting BTFO
Strawman? homosexual, you're the one who came in here with your bullshit.
You said something fricking stupid, got BTFO and proven wrong, now you are trying to strawman and project.
get fricking reckt homosexual.
Just because one autist played the game for 30 years until he could catalogize every single possible glitch, does not mean the game is a broken mess. Most of those glitches can't even really be pulled out during normal play, the only ones I managed to do was the slow jump and the delayed hit (and those two just add to the gameplay).
I can trust Sega, i just don't trust Sonic Team
SoR4 fricks
SOR4 was made by a bunch of perverted french mad lads who were so big fans of the series that they made their own beat'em up a few years prior. It was basically the best possible team to hand out development to. You won't get that lucky twice in a row, and the teaser we got so far looks horrible.
They're making the Shinobi game.
The new JSR looks fricking awful already, but maybe the Shinobi game will be good
Chances are zero. Nu-segay can't make games at all and should go bankrupt for good this time. They make money only because of brainless mobile slot casino audience.
Can gays on Ganker ever stop being wrong?
Does this look like their slot machines ?!
They are making hand over fist cash now
Ganker is always wrong about Sega
>Ganker is always wrong
Fixed that for ya
>tendie-owned board
>SEGA has been cool to hate for two decades now
Ganker would have you believe Mania sucked for no reason other than starring the blue rat
Wrong about it being a colossal failure but it was still raped by Mario in the box office. It's pretty sad, both for Sega's endless cycle of Nintendo's floppy seconds and the low standards Mario fans have.
*sloppy
this is a sega thread tendie. go cope about zelda sucking bg3's dick somewhere else
Imagine the cope when your 100x more popular IP has to throw the movie back into production and push the release date because your inferior rivals movie literally pushed the entir industries shit in and revived movies.
The Mario movie and the sonic movie can both make money anon. What was your point ? Mario the more popular IP made more money? Everyone expected sega to bomb the movie and die. Instead they’re considering expanding their cinematic universe
It got pushed back because Miyamoto was a sperg. Not because of some fear over Sonic.
Lmao the cope. The sonic movie had just released and was rave reviews and test screens of the Mario movie showed people disliked it and they pushed release back going into production. Imagining Miyamota had any say, or for that matter has any faculties left aside from grinning like a fricking idiot and keeping the maturity level of the platform at prepubescent levels
The Shinobi game looks interesting in a "Obviously a shitty idnie roguelite paltformer" thing.
I just can't imagine the other shit being good. It's the most generic looking stuff I've seen. Godlen axe just straight up looks like some shovelware hack n slash from the ps2.
>What are the chances that even just one (1) of these ends up being good
Shinobi looks like it is being done by the team who did Streets of Rage 4 (the art style is extremely similar) so it might be cool.
I don't expect the rest to be any good.
It's just outsourced to the same art company (in france is it?) And supposedly not done by dotemu/lizard cube
Shinobi is by Lizardcube, its already good by default
the better question is "what are the chances that even of them actually comes out"
>the
0% they all look like cheap UE projects
Crazy Taxi has that distinct stock UE4 look so my hopes for that one are low.
We already reached rock bottom with those awful HoSD and Panzer Dragoon remakes anyways.
Good? Likely only Crazy Taxi, it's not really such a hard game to frick up
Great? None of them, modern Sonic has shit everything and wastes most of it on Yakuza at this point.
Golden Axe is going to be the shitties one for sure, and JSR will literally be so mid it makes people troon out and cope back to Bomb Rush Cyberfunk
F-ZERO GX?!?!?!?!?
Literally none of these
Virtua Fighter
Golden Axe
need a new version of jsr that runs higher than slow motion 30fps
We need JSRF with right stick camera controls
Imagine a NiGHTS game with modern graphics and a new soundtrack holy fug
It will not happen, because it would drag homosexuals and degenerates alike to the sega side which sega disapprove
lol?
japan is such a shit hole
>clown girl from ace attorney
>pomni
>trans bullshit
I know NiGHTS has soul but holy hell, this new generation of uber normalgays is going to make me hate the fandom
NiGHTS was never good, let it rest
>still seething we didn't get a mainline 2d sonic on saturn
Man, it's tough, because I had both a saturn and eventually a ps1, and the last thing kid me wanted was a 2d game.
But I would have bought a good 2d sonic in an instant. Sonic 1-3nK is one of the best gaming runs I've ever experienced as far as peak experience.
For a system that was built around high end 2d supposedly, how were there no plans at least for a 2d sonic? Release Nights and a 2d sonic and you're straight. Hell, a 2d streets of rage too.
2D was seen as old and outdated. It didn't help that Playstation was pushing for polygons, reshaping the public's perception. And THEN Sega went and hired the same guy who hated 2D at Sony, so he refused to release any of the good 2D games that did exist.
Sonic, Nights, Ristar, It's all the same thing. All have assholish level design, jank out the ass and require memorization to beat the levels. I've even heard that the original Phantasy Star games become ballbustingly difficult with the mazes out of nowhere. Sonic Team's games really were always overrated.
I could see a new Border Break. Mech games seem to be having a revival.
Ranger X is on my never ever list
Its NiGHTS, Panzer Dragoon, Virtua Fighter and Burning Rangers
Skies Of Arcadia...anything? New entry, remake, remaster, heck even a simple re-release would do wonders at this point
Just want a widescreen port with Legends QoL and Dreamcast's music
Unlikely. Sega's totally just gonna port over the GameCube version without including any of the original Dreamcast's advantages
Yeah agreed, at this point they need to just TRY and port over what exists while doing the least amount of damage as possible, which will be hard for them.
If they tried making anything new it would be a disaster, it would flop and we'd be in an even worse position
Skies of Arcadia is a one and done game. If you want widescreen just use the dolphin patch
I think they're gonna remake it. I truly think that amongst the "And More!" we'll see Virtual FIghter 6, Outrun 3 and Skies of Arcade Remake
Granblue Fantasy Relink could've been a new Skies of Arcadia, sadly they decided to design it like a Monster Hunter game with no navigation between floating islands.
I need new vectorman
No Sonic Adventure ?
They had the fricking ring sound effect in the trailer but then nothing ?
Why would they announce a new sonic adventure when sonic team released frontiers like last week
>new sor
>more koshiro songs
gonna NUT
That was the first thing I thought of too when they said SoR. They HAVE to have Koshiro on to do the music for it, right?

There was a """leak""" on here that said the new sonic lego sets with the mechs were actually a promo for a mech fighting game called sonic scrappers.
qrd on these Lego sets? google is only givihng me whatever the frick this is.
I honestly think this is real given the weird behavior and how everyone is ignoring it
Shadow the Hedgehog 2 confirmed holy shit. The Lego set has the rejuvenation tank from Heroes and the Motorcycle. It's so fricking kino.
>Shadow the Hedgehog 2 confirmed holy shit.
No, it's just a tie in for the 3rd Sonic Movie which will feature Shadow.
And you don't think Shadow 2 wouldn't be the perfect tie in game?
No because
1. they already have a new Sonic game announced for next year, which is centered around being playable with every different character. Shadow can be made a timed DLC for that, without them having to develop an entire new fricking game in less than a year.
2. they never made a tie-in game for the other two movies either
3. the Shadow game fricking sucked so it's unlikely they'll touch it again
But it would be Kino.
Dream Team is apple arcade exclusive
Is this a leak
No that's a logo, leaks are in pipes.
sega filed a few new sakura wars trademarks back in 2020, wouldn't be surprised if a sequel to the ps4 game or a remake of the saturn original is in the works
https://www.animeherald.com/2020/05/11/sega-japan-files-trademarks-for-sakura-wars-black-3-more/
It's a shame the PS4 game bombed, I liked it.
Alex Kidd
Came for Crazy Taxi, but I'm glad they did all these others. Streets of Rage will be cool as frick, wonder if it'll overshadow Golden Axe just like it did on the genesis.
If the streets of rage plays a bit like die hard arcade/dynamite deka and is a multiplayer game - it will be awesome! Hopefully they are all on game pass.
It's gonna be part of the super game. 100 dollars for 6 games.
I hope we get soul like this
?si=c-UZrMuX7ImBZR7Q
Honestly I just want a new Shinobi game again. 3 was excellent, and I never got to try the 3DS one but I hear it was good so long as you didn't rely on the Circle Pad and were ready for unskippable cutscenes. The 3D Streets of Rage on the other hand.. it has shit to prove after SoR4 was so good while sticking to 2D.
Hopefully they brought back Guard Crush to work on the combat for the new SoR. It's pretty clear Lizardcube is working on the new Shinobi.
3ds is ok. Way better than the Saturn game anyway. It's nothing when compared to Revenge of Shinobi or Shinobi 3 though. I remember the 3ds game having some really boring vehicle parts that were probably meant to mimic the horse & ski stages from S3, but it was really slow, boring & the stages took too long to finish.
Shinobi on 3ds is one of my all time favorites

>Hyenas (AAA budget, cancelled during OBT)
Does their soccer game really make that much money?
>Every large project they make fails
Yes, they've finally learned. Now they're making small projects.
sega is being kept aflot by 37 year old sonic furry coomers
Atlus is keeping them alive.
Despite PSO2NGS being an absolute shitshow, it still stays afloat with whale money.
They're making a new one
Funny how PSOs gimmick is what's killing the series. But I guess "Online" back when online wasn't even a thing is very different from todays shitty MMO. Hell I even liked Universe.

Actual potential kino, from what little gameplay there is it looks well polished. Hopefully the devteam took notes from Bomb Rush

>Crazy Taxi
Looks like a F2P competitive driving game of taxis vs cops, not gonna be kino
>ps2 era brawler

>brawlers" from the PS2 era,
I'll take 5.
PLEASE GOD bring back Shining Force with Camelot working on it...it won't be the same because the original artist died recently, but dammit, do it for him.
>not even a banana splitz remake
Well Monkey Ball is fricked. What now
Banana Mania is only two years old, anon.
I thought for years sega should farm out their old dormant IP's to competent indie studios to make something small scale, interesting and budget friendly
They've already been doing that, that's what led to games like SOR4 and a couple of the remakes like Dragon's Trap and Panzer Dragoon.

I've played Shinobi arcade/PS2, Revenge, Shadow Dancer (Gen), and Shinobi 3. If it isn't a Metriodvania I'll be happy. Otherwise from that one part gives notions of one.
I hope its a metroidvania because I like them and it pisses you off.
It's probably going to be like Shinobi 2 where the levels weren't entirely linear
Not Virtua Fighter, that's for certain.

Uh, yes sir.
Those games were pretty neat. Its a pity 3DO milked them to death.
The "AND MORE" is VF, Altered Beast, PSO and Comix Zone
Taxi is still in testing, might be GaaS
New Sonic and Jet Set are targeting 2024
>might be GaaS
If so, my interest plummets to negative numbers.
PSO needs to frick off already in favor of PS1 and PS2 remakes.
Frick that, I want a PS3 remake that makes the game as good as it should've been.
Why are they opposed to Skies of Arcadia and their other RPG franchises. I know they already got Yakuza and Persona but more RPGs never hurts
I disagree, there can be too many. RPGs are huge games and they take a lot of resources to make, so them bringing back a bunch of their dormant smaller IPs was the right move.
Plus, Persona and Yakuza are good. They aren't wanting for quality RPGs.
Maybe Skies of Arcadia HD would be a good idea to test the market
>Comix Zone
Please be true and please be 2D and firmly 90s. I don't want shit like that proposed movie with the queer POC or whatever.
What happend to Virtua Fighter 6 you guys were talking about?

PSO remake or remaster please
Are we finally getting current gen centaur girls?
I want a new Sonic game
Can't wait for JSR even of the game turns out to be mediocre we will still be getting a banger hideki soundtrack anyways.
Virtua fighter
Crazy taxi looks like some 360 era/phone soulless shit,
Sega IPs suck. There is a reason they never became mainstays like Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, etc.
Sega IPs are beloved and are awesome. The reason they never became as popular is sega doesn’t have the fanbase Nintendo did. And sega didn’t popularize or immortalized their IP by trying to sell you the same game over and over and over. They always tried different shit. How many remakes and re-releases are you buying over in Nintendo land
The 'and more' will be a model 3 90s collection consisting of the yakuza mini games, daytona 2,fighting vipers 2 and vf3. They obviously didn't want to say it on the that list because everyone knows they are just 'ports' (emulated roms lol) they've already done/working on for the yakuza arcades
Dotemu/lizardcube on Shinobi makes me happy, their SoR 4 and Wonderboy games were great.
Extremely happy for the new Shinobi.
Extremely disappointed that for the new Golden Axe they immediately went for a 3D game (that will most likely suck) instead of another 2D beat em up throwback like SoR4.
I csn't believe they made a "We finally remembered we have games besides Sonic!" trailer.
>bmaw couple
Funnily enough, it's actually common where I live(New Malden). Korean girls will frick arabs and blacks before going with a korean.
Shinobi games rely on level design and gimmicky levels. I don't see modern devs capable of doing such a thing, but Ghosts 'n Goblins Resurrection proved me wrong, I'll give them a chance.
Lizardcube are allegedly doing Shinobi, they did Streets of Rage 4 before. Apparently they love Shinobi and even wanted to put the MC into SoR4, but clearly they let them do their own game
Good call.
I guess giving the old franchises to Frenchies is the best outcome we could asl for.
>French drawgays in charge of a new Story of Thor
A man can dream. A man can dream.
It's common sense for a lot of these big Japanese IP holding companies like Capcom, Konami, Sega, Namco, even Nintendo. They can collab with smaller developers/indie devs to make new games in their dormant IPs like they did with Metroid Dread or Streets of Rage 4
Will my wife Hibana be in the new Shinobi?
>no arcade racing collection
>no skies of arcadia anything
>no Sega rally
>no virtua fighter
>no saturn or Dreamcast mini
Goodbye everyone.
Why would you want a Dreamcast mini when you can literally emulate anything you'd want on your phone, Steam Deck, hacked Switch, PC
I also just realized that Jet Set is still cel shaded, it's just a unique style of cel shading I've never seen. It's more obvious when you look at npcs in the bottom left of this pic
We'll see how it goes but I'm all for more JSR. As long as it isn't a flat shithole like Bomb Rush, they win.
me in the bottom left pondering this radical grind
That's not cel-shaded though.
Now please release a fricking collection with all the Shinobi games.
This. And can we get Thunder Force 7?
>And can we get Thunder Force 7?
Given how horrible Thunder Force 6 was, I'd rather not. Unless they can get the old Techno Soft team back to make it. The closest we got to a decent Thunder Force game after Techno Soft disbanded was the shooting section in Segagaga.
Lunar 3
Don't do that. Don't make them troon this up too. It's fine where it is.
>NiGHTS (likely by Arzest)
>sonic Adventure remake (sonic movie 3 adapting SA2 is coming out next year)
>the only way Sega can make good games nowadays is by farming development to western indie devs
How the mighty have fallen...
It's awful because they keep seething over westerners doing their jobs and wondering why they can't do anything in-house meanwhile guys like the Billy Hatcher director is probably stuck cleaning out the toilets.
Weird how this business model backfired for Capcom a decade ago but now works for games with a smaller scope.
Capcom outsourced to trash devs or let them have creative control. Sega is pretty much hands-on, knowing how horrifically this could go if ignored, though that doesn't ensure it'll be great either. It's to the point that you can't even trust Sega themselves to develop in-house most of the time anymore.
Anything not made by RGG studio or DotEmu gives me pause. SEGA just doesn't have a reputation for quality anymore.
>Sega is pretty much hands-on
Pretty sure they aren't. Games like Sonic Mania and SoR4 turned out good because they were made by super autistic fans of those series and would have likely been complete shit if Sega had more input.
If I remember right Iizuka fought hard to keep SEGA out of the Mania Teams way.
Not sure if Mania Team really did go troo frar or Taxman is just an autistic shit who literally can't stop spouting NDA breaking tweets.
Nah. Iizuka tried to get Evening Star back for Superstars, but SEGA waited to long to greenlight another project so Evening Star made their own IP with Take Two. Literally all on SEGA for taking too long to greenlight a Mania followup.
Considering Sega and Iizuka tried to contact them for a Mania 2, AND contracted the Stealth/Headcannon portion of the team for Origins' 3&K port, they never went troo far despite the shitty memes of the asshurt fans. But then Sega fricked them on restrictions and deadlines for Origins like they tend to frick most devs (or Headcannon are grossly incompetent but spoke out to not get thrown under the bus and take all the blame), and the Evening Star folks didn't want to go back. The recurring problem seems to be that Sega management are simply too inept to really do anything proper, and then sub-developers like Sonic Team just piss in the wind with mostly new talent having no idea what they're doing because they get the opportunity to goof off.
>Sonic Mania
You used one of the worst possible examples because both SEGA and Sonic Team heavily limiting design choices and creative control for the Mania team
Mania was forced to have: reused zones, limited number of new ones, no unique story as it needed to tie into Forces, no Fang as a villain or playable so the best they got was a cameo, no super emeralds so no hyper forms etc
Funnily enough, it's because Mania was still really good despite all of it's limitations that Sonic fans so desperately wanted the same dev team to make a Mania 2 without all of SEGA and Sonic Team's limitations which's why it felt like a monkey paw that a sequel finally happened with much more design and creative freedom but it wasn't by the same devs and the quality of the game ended up being lower
I dont trust todays sega with anything.
Streets of rage and golden axe being 3d and a supposed reboot already shows sega dont have a fricking clue.
A few of the others look outsourced to indie devs. So yet again its sega trying to steal credit for other peoples work. Sega had no involvement with:
SOR4
Panzer dragoon remake
Toejam and earl
House of the dead
And various others yet still tried to claim credit for them when they didnt help 1 single bit
I'd rather have new (hopefully good but we'll see) games in these dormant IPs rather than worry about who the devs are. Metroid Dread proved to me that sometimes outsourcing is better when the IP holder have no clue why people love their games
Sonic mania was proof of this long before dread
I know but I haven't played it. I'm mainly a a Nintendo fan just checking out the announcement
Nice to hear you're not suffering with mental illness unlike the rest of us anon. I'm honestly jealous, growing up as a Sega fan is like waking up to coal on Xmas morning for the last 20 years
Cool, don't care
No one asked you mate, off you go
Not really, I suffer with Nintendo a lot room. I'm a fan of Japanese games in general so I just try and take what I can from all of the developers that have games I liked or have liked, like Nintendo (not really loving the Switch era since I owned a Wii U), Sony (or at least used to until they ditched Japanese games, rip Gravity Rush), Namco (weak at the moment imo), Capcom (doing well in some areas, ignoring other series I like though like Megaman, Powerstone etc...)
Meant to say "suffer with Nintendo a lot too"
Fair one, I think anyone who doesn't enjoy soulless slop is suffering it seems.
Same for the football manager stuff that I know isn't everyone's taste but that shit does numbers and people who are into it love it, all sports interactive just with Segas badge on it
i always wanted a 3d streets of rage, i think this kind of beat em all was always made for 3d, but their version will be rushed and shit anyway
Fighting force, there you go.
For me it was DIe Hard arcade.
Die Hard Arcade was very poor, Fighting Force did it a lot better. Unfortunately both were kind of broken crap.
yeah this. the only true 3d streets of rage
you people are just stringing games you know together
die hard arcade wasnt like sor at all shut the frick up
Fun fact, that started life as SoR4. But Sega didn't care about the IP at the time so they just made it a new series.
>duuude muh IP name
Who cares if you call it Outrun if you don't have a studio that can make an Outrun level game? SEGA doesn't have the talent anymore, this is their last attempt to survive after dying in arcades and they won't make it
Virtua Fighter gotta be one of them
New Golden Axe should have looked like Dragon's Crown.
>no horse wives
>no bikini warriors
Yeah let's double down on the generic dwarf guy and the generic conan man.
Shinobi looks like it has air-combo juggling
Not so sure I want that
Golden Axe was never good. The games were more mechanically primitive that beat em ups that preceded them like Double Dragon and they amount of recolored enemies and recycled content between games was ridiculous. Only the music holds up.
Probably why they changed it a lot to make it 3D. Will be interesting to see who develops it and what direction they take it in.
Do you remember what happened the last time they made a 3d golden axe?
Idk who is making it though, hinges on that
no new Comix Zone
no new Vectorman
no new Ecco
no new Ranger X
no new Eternal Champions
at least the new Shinobi looks okay.
Golden Axe was decent for a 1989 game. The fighting wasn't as tight as Final Fight, but it allowed you to cleave in the faces of others with battle axes and swords, ride giant lizards and summon thunderstorms and giant dragons to frick up everything on screen. It was always a game with more flair than gameplay.
3d golden axe and streets of rage looks risky but if the Devs reinvent it right then it could be good. Both seem to be quite early in development compared to Jet Set Radio and Shinobi which look like the closest to completion to me
3d golden axe might be good because it's a hack & slash game.
3d streets of rage will be a giant clusterfrick because SOR4 already proved that the game works best in 2d. Plus the trailer already makes it look like it has shit like cinematic supers, how the frick would that work in a large open 3d world?
The one saving grace to janky 3d SOR would be making it massive multiplayer. Like what one of the devs mentioned a long time ago in an interview, have like 20 players in the same game march down a street like an actual gang, fricking shit up on the way.
But Sega always disappoints, so it won't have cool shit like that, it'll be the most fricking barebones fighting game ever. The trailer already has the characters looking different and doing moves they don't have, it looks more like some SNK fighter.
ALTERED BEAST CHARACTER ACTION BUT NOT GARBAGE THIS TIME LETS FRICKING GOOOOOOO
Where are the webms, don't any of you encode your own?
Looks fricking good, don't know what everyone is doomposting about
They all look like HIRE THIS MAN games with motion blur set to 1000%
I don't like the visual look of the game but the unreal asset criticism has to be the most bad faith and meaningless argument in videogames discussion
>I don't like the visual look of the game but
Sounds valid to me, my point was made.
Motion blur has been a toggle-able setting since 2016
Do you have a relevant criticism?
You delusional if you don't see how cheap this looks. Keep your expectations in check.
Looks absolutely fine to me, but admittedly I'm not a graphics prostitute
It looks good for an alpha build.
fricking cameo looked better than this. What's this mobile slop?
got any new games
>No new IP. Only old IP. That's how we will regain relevenace.
Some SEGA rep thinks he's smart as frick. I would say this is a smart idea if these projects have small budget and realistic expectations, but SEGA is fricking dumb and probably expects this shit to sell full price.
Exactly, these things bare next to no relevance to how the previous games played in some cases. 3D for sor and golden axe is different. Cops on crazy taxi seems bizarre, I'm quite concerned by them. Shinobi and jsr like an evolution of what was before which is promising. Like 99% of everyone in here, I don't trust them to not frick thibgs up
I bet the frickups at Sega of Japan just dumped a bunch of old IPs on SEGA of America and said" We don't need these and Lizardcube didn't frick SoR up, go fricking nuts"
Sega rally - the post.
Sega rally 'revo' or 3 in the arcade was such a joke. Some wierd generic racer but with the Sega rally sound effects, they just have no idea. I'd love to know what the original devs feelings were on that shit show
Yes, that Atlus new Persona clone.
>shinobi
>2d
disappointing
they should have kept it 3d and made it a action game
glad jet set is back still
2D made by Dotemu. Notice the difference.
Yeah because the Shinobi game is the only game that looks to be of any quality out of everything shown.
That's what I'm saying too, frick.
Sega is one of those companies with a very rich heritage of IPs that they either completely ignore, actively take a shit on, or give a completely fricking mediocre treatment that only the hardcore fans will remember (if it even comes out on a mainstream platform). Anyone here remembers Toejam & Earl 3 or Shinobi PS2 or After Burner Climax or Golden Axe Beast Rider or Planet Harriers? Did you know there were something like FOUR new Wonder Boy games in the past half decade?
This is one of the few cases where a company making sequels to existing IPs is fricking sought after. All they've been doing is Yakuza and Sonic, frick both of those, I want a new Comix Zone or Ecco.
Yeah there is a pattern, the only 3rd party stuff that was any good was the stuff that was far along for Dreamcast then ported, stuff like Billy hatcher. If the dc continued I would have been interested to see how they would have ported virtua fighter 4 and outrun 2.
Anything starting new from the 'nu' Sega has been basically garage aside from yakuza (their one team of talent left)
>the only 3rd party stuff that was any good was the stuff that was far along for Dreamcast then ported,
Toejam & Earl 3 was one of those (the DC version has since leaked), and it sucked.
Rent-a-hero No.1 was also on DC then ported to Xbox, however that came out on both consoles, it was only the english port that got unfinished but leaked. From what I heard it was okay.
Sega was decent up to the mid-00s, mostly due to what you said - Dreamcast-era games released as Xbox originals, but from the 360 era onwards they started sucking so hard.
Agreed about toe jam and earl 3 but I'm pretty sure that was really very early and although they had done quite a bit of engine work to get it going on the dc, in terms of what the Frick the game was actually gonna be.. Yeah, it just ended up being a cluster
You do realise that most of the original creators of series like Crazy Taxi, Jet Set Radio and so on still work at Sega? It's just that they've put them on shitty mobile games and Japan only arcade games for the past 12 or so years for some reason.
Not saying it means anything but the talent argument isn't coherent. Sega's issue is a classic case of Japanese business mismanagement
Yeah those few guys who were part of hit maker or whatever in 2002 and were happy to stay on making candy crush clones for 2 decades were top tier devs I'm sure, my mistake
Literally look it up anon. Some people value a stable job, especially in Japan.
I'm sure some are still around, don't get me wrong, my point is that how are they still going to have enough relevant skills or up to date ideas in today's world to make top tier stuff. It's a fricking big ask. A game on series x compared to crazy taxi one is like night and day. I won't shit on it too much but tbh the new crazy taxi looked ropey as frick
They got punished into mobile games after a decade of slop games like pic related
Check Sega's lineup during the PS2 years, its literal cancer done by the same guys who supposedly worked on Saturn and Dreamcast good stuff
Sega published Wonderboy, it doesn’t own it. Wonderboy was always multi platform. And was adventure island on. Nintendo.
>Sega published Wonderboy, it doesn’t own it. Wonderboy was always multi platform. And was adventure island on. Nintendo.
Sega owns Wonderboy, it just doesn't own the game design to the first game, which is how Hudson Soft could license it from the developers to make Adventure Island with the characters changed.
It's irrelevant though since all but one of the recent Wonderboy games were remakes of old titles (Wonder Boy 1, 3 and 4).
I don't like 3D graphics
not saturn games, sega wants to forget it. but man, a new dragon force could be so nice. still a unique game after all these years.
>JSR
Looked alright but kinda soulless
>Shinobi
Neat artstyle
>Golden Axe
Looked like a cheap mobile game
>Streets of Rage
Looked like shit
>Crazy Taxi
Looked like an asset flip
I have extremely low expectations
There is absolutely 0 chance anything they showed off will be good. Most of them already looked like shit. Sega "fans" have brain damage
You didn't think the Shinobi game looked good? Do you not enjoy 2d action games?
Just a tendi butt hurt that a bear fricking simulation beat the immaculate zelda
It looked like a generic 2d indie game. I could barely tell it was Shinobi. The 3d ps2 one they made years back was more interesting on a first glance
ok doomer
I'm usually pretty positive, but I think it's important to be realistic here.
I don't think already calling everything shown shit is very "realistic" when all we saw were very short clips of them, and they haven't even shown every game yet. I'm not trusting of SEGA either but I'll at least wait until I've seen more of these games before I give a verdict, instead of being cynical on sight.
>I'm usually pretty positive
(X)
Not everything must be AAA American games with realistic aesthetics.
You're right. I never said that.

Never ever as long as RGG team is profitable, especially after the clusterfrick that was 3
Ristar fricking sucks
Ristar level design goes to shit as soon as you reach the ice planet. But it's fricking Sega so you just expect the level design to go full Jank. I can't count how many times a fricking rail glitched out on me in Sonic Heroes or a roller track dumped my Egg into a abyss in Billy Hatcher.
I don't remember if it was an ice planet but I got up to a level where meteors were constantly falling and it was utter bullshit so I just stopped. But yeah the first few levels were fine
>Dragon Force 3
>Virtua Cop VR/Switch
Do it Sega!
The new Shinobi does have nice art but gameplay wise looks like any modern indie metroidvania. NOT being a metroidvania actually makes it less generic, but from an old IP revival you'd usually expect something with more identity to justify it.
I have hope for the new JSR as the short snippets showed: some good population density, verticality in the environment with keeping the road hills, a new parkour system that could be pretty well if it's not too jank
Need to see what the graffiti mechanics are like, how they handle boost, and then character stats too as if they want to be safe I'm assuming just do future with a couple extras
It's good the aesthetic is back to JSR and not Future as I'm kinda sick of the futuristic theme since it's in so many games nowadays
I'm also interested in whether the new JSR will explore more multiplayer stuff as the multiplayer in future was kino and I'd love for online gamemodes or even just co-op freeroam shit but probably wishful thinking
Also Gum showing off her tummy, thighs, and ass wearing tight dolphin shorts is based
Not worried about Shinobi at all but need to see more of Golden Axe, SoR, and Taxi
I wish it was less realistic. Every looks really boring to me. Even Beat looked kind of weird in JSR and he's just a dude in a T-shirt but he just looks so normal in the new game.
I like how it looks, reminds me of Gravity Rush 2. Anime-ish while also being detailed with cel shading
Wish I liked it but maybe my opinion will change when it actually comes out but I just feel kind of disappointed when I look at it.
I think the aesthetic looks fine so far, that leaked pic has washed out colors but the game looked pretty vibrant in the short snippets and it clearly still has the shibuya-kei aesthetic which has always been one of the main influences of JSR
Your comment about the fashion is likely due to how Harajuku fashion has changed/developed overtime as the original JSR was based off 90s/00s Harajuku fashion with obvious anime and manga influences with the sharp and dynamic posing with cel-shading
If you lookup modern Japanese fashion in their punk cultures, you'll see it's more toned down compared to how explosive and in your face the aesthetic used to be before but that's also likely because the trend has long since faded since peak Shibuya-kei was in the 90s and Japan was already getting sick of it by the time JSR released which's one of the reasons it sold poorly in Japan
We'll see how the rest of the cast looks though and whether or not they'll be costumes or some form of customization in general
The gangs always had more outlandish designs compared to the GGs who're always pretty tame in comparison like compare JSR Beat and Gum to Love Shockers or JSRF Corn and Yo-yo to Rapid 99 or Poison Jam etc
>censored gum
Streets of Rage in 3D *could* work if they make it like Urban Reign's combat or make it like a fleshed out DMC style game but in a more urban city environment. If RGG are put on this especially then it could be good since they have a lot experience with brawling type mechanics
Just make a Def Jam Fight for NY style game set in SoR's world.
Didn't watch
Did they have any sort of announcement with a trailer or anything or just flash this card?
Yeah a bunch of footage of various in progress projects based on the IPs in OPs picture(the jet set radio one had been leaked ages go though). They promised more but I seriously doubt it.
JET SET RADIOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Dragoon?
Regretfully already raped with slavic unityslop. I hope they leave it alone.
reminder that they are still touting a Zwei remake
honestly these devs are pretty fricking terrible
Did anyone make a webm of the Shinobi footage?
>sega finally comes out of nowhere
>drops game kino
>says nothing
>leaves
took them several fan games to gauge this? fricking finally
they dropped what is effectively ai generated trailers.
Those games look so unfinished it's unreal. Shinobi was the only one worth looking at because it is being made by LizardCube, the same devs being SoR4.
Elaborate.
Also, please explain what you actually mean by "ai generated trailers".
Dipshits have been saying "It looks like AI" to mean "Me no like!!!" for a while now, it's so fricking moronic
I'm not that Anon. I just replied because the trailers look like shit. I could def understand when it comes to Crazy Taxi tho. The game looks so fricking flat it reeks of the same shit AI makes.
You’ve never played crazy taxi. It looks exactly like the old one, the old one was low poly cell shaded and that’s essentially what you’re getting with the look.
Crazy taxi looks like it will mix outrun with crazy taxi. Maybe you need to hit cabs until they’re pulled over before they reach the fare spot. I imagine a multiplayer component too which would be fun as a cop with five or six different real players to pull over
>It looks exactly like the old one
NTA, but it doesn't. Crazy Taxi had a very specific look, the same one other Model 2/3/NAOMI arcade games. Deep blue skies, detailed high contrast textures, all of that made the games pop in a very unique way. The new game does look much flatter than that, but to be honest, no one seems to be able to replicate that aesthetic even when they try. At least Jet Set Radio still looks juicy as frick.
>You’ve never played crazy taxi. It looks exactly like the old one,
You can't be serious. New one looks like a Unity fan remake.
Forgetting
Look, I want a Sega comeback as much as the next guy who likes arcade games, but that disclaimer doesn't necessarily mean that the end product is gonna look good.
Some of these games are several years out based of what Geoff said from actually coming out, that Crazy Taxi game might not come out till 2026 for all we know lol.
Let's hope so. Crazy Taxi looked like they just told some intern to whip up a demo so they'd have something to show for TGA.
How many times has that watermark been passed around and the game STILL ends up looking like shit? Wasn't this the exact cope before Frontiers released?
>Unfinished game looks unfinished
Say it aint so
Please actually elaborate on your statement.
Bro only one if the games looks good and that's because it seems to be made by LizardCube/DotEmu.
Sega Rally 3 (for real this time) when
Sega All-Stars Fighters Megamix when
I just want the VO games on PC please
I think you're all being moronic.
There's nothing wrong with how the games look, these are dusty old IPs that are worth almost nothing at the moment, it's obvious that they won't receive state of the art graphics. This is more than enough, they look fine.
The real question is if they'll play well.
There is a different between looking low budget and looking Jank. Most of these games, especially Golden Axe, look jank as frick.
Okay, now elaborate on that statement.
I'd like to understand your viewpoint.
What makes them look "jank"?
The jerky and stiff animations, the terrible lighting, and a lot of them have a very flat look. JSR is the only one seemingly with a budget and Shinboi looks good because it's 2D and being made by LizardCube.
Shinobi looks insane. Hand drawn 2D games are so rare, let alone ones with a Japanese aesthetic
It's Lizard Cube.
Looks so beautiful. They better have a stage in there where it's raining. I would cry man, I love rain in video games.
comix zone remake
>comix zone remake
fricking this
and get Howard Drossin back to do a 90s throwback grunge soundtrack.
Super Monkey ball for sure
Nights maybe???
Vector Man
Sega's too cowardly to being back the canon three-way.
Rieko Kodama died so they're never bringing this back or singleplayer Phantasy Star out of respect.
Old old man Sega fan here, I'm going in with the expectations that more than half will be live service games. So all I want from them is to be at least be good live service games.
I wish Sega had as good a BC team as Microsoft does, I'd love a full library of their past catalogue available. Especially Post-Model 3.
Id love sega to focus on an online store and releasing ALL of their old games through it. Even a japanese corner with all ssaturn games.
i remember the rumor when jsr first got leaked was that it was gonna be an always online service game so im just gonna ignore this shit
It does look like an open world deal that could easily be plugged into the net. The same goes for Crazy Taxi too. It really looks like there's some sort of multiplayer element there and not like something people would queue up for.
I don't have much faith in modern Sega, but Jet Set Radio looks great, they did a good job modernizing the colorful aesthetic of the original (can't say that about Crazy Taxi, that game looks washed out as frick compared to the original).
Also, where the frick is Naganuma? He used to be an insane Twitter addict, but he hasn't tweeted since the 5th of November, and even this news didn't drag him out. So either he's crunching like crazy to make the soundtrack in secret, or he finally got institutionalized.
>Fantasy Zone?
A third installment by M2 would be stellar, unfortunately they have a shit load of projects currently.
Does SEGA even have the manpower to try a resurgance arc? It worked for Capcom because they still had a lot of veterans working there
They do, and considering their recent track record they'll license some of these out. The problem is that they like to rush things out too much.
Of course not. Most/all of these games are outsourced.
Ristar 2 when, should have been on the Wii to be honest
Motherfricker I want Ristar back!
This and Comix Zone. Oh, and Nights.
I suppose Ecco too, but my fond childhood memories of just swimming around and my PTSD from actually trying to finish the games years later are clashing.
>invest billions into super game(tm)
>hyenas fail miserably
>maybe we should go back to basic
why is sega like this
"Bunch of old IP revivals" was probably part of the whole "super game" thing from the start, but they likely all share the same budget that something like Hyenas got all for itself.
I've already forgot Hyenas even existed, and if I was Sega they should too.
Is it just me or did all of the very brief footage they showed of those new games not look good?
To be fair it’s not just you, it seems isolated to just massive homosexuals
because they dont and anyone saying otherwise is massively coping, they look like indie IP shovelware, golden axe looks exactly like the new gauntlet
Shinobi looks alright, wish it was like the PS2 Shinobi game but classic Shinobi is fine too
>JSR
Probably gonna get mogg'd by Bomb Rush
>Crazy Taxi
Looks like an Unreal asset flip. The hell were those cabs?
It's all gonna blow.
Many sorts of old IPs could be coming back, I would like to see them give another try at Afterburner, the last game they had was decent after trying it via emulation.
Also knowing how Sonic Team can be if they don't work on Quest I'm sure there is gonna be a Puyo Puyo thing cause "24" and all that.
I hope they don't frick up the music for Crazy Taxi. Honestly with how expensive licensed music is nowadays, maybe that's why it looks to have the smallest budget for visuals. It looks really basic.
Sega just spent $90m on Hyenas and that didn't even release, hopefully they won't cheap out on the games that actually have a chance of being good
That Streets of Rage looks like a 4 player battle, maybe it's multiplayer. I can see a gap in the market for a 3D multiplayer brawler
>maybe it's multiplayer.
It's Streets of Rage, of course it has multiplayer.
I meant built around multiplayer from the start
I remember when that was one of main selling points SoR1 had over SNES Final Fight 1
If they do a big announcement around Sega Bass Fishing I will lose my shit in the best way possible.
Search your feelings Ganker. You know it be true.
what are the chances literally every one of these games is better than the past decade of mainline sonic games? I'm going to set a conservative estimate at 90%
Not everything is about sonic homie
UP DOWN UP DOWN
CHU CHU CHU
They'd make her wear pants.
They released Space Channel VR in 2020 and she didn't change outfitwise
anon shows us how you can say "I've never played Space Channel 5" without actually saying it
> We have to save our Producer, Reanimated Space Michael
It won't be the same without Space Michael
I want to believe.
Golden Axe would have been best handled by Platinum.
This site was unusable yesterday with all the consoomer homosexuals spazzing out with marketing buzzshit. screaming “LETS GOOOOO” and “WERE SO BACK BREHHSSSS” over and over. What a sight. These games will suck, Sega sucks, nuGaming sucks.
>SEGA says sonic's recent success is what inspired them to revive old franchises like jet set radio and crazy taxi.
Sonic and Sega are entering its renaissance era and they're trying to introduce old IPs to a newer generation, this is such a huge W.
"This is just the start of our initiative". SeamanGODs there's hope!
Wasn't Sonic their ONLY success? Everything else they had to acquire them with money like Atlus and Total War.
Yakuza bro
To think there was a point Yakuza 5 looked like it would never get a western release. Like 3 years wait.
If you told me back then we'd have day one worldwide releases across several platforms, I'd never believe it.
Not only worldwide, but highly anticipated by the industry and even nominated as such.
Yeah and now it's a westernized turn based RPG set in America. Success corrupts.
Hawaii is just Western Japan
Uh huh. See you when the franchise moves to California.
Sonic, Yakuza, and Phantasy Star. Phantasy Star did good in its markets.
> Phantasy Star
Yeah like a decade ago. It now makes less money than Miku and Sega Mahjong which already doesnt even chart that high yet PSO2 has higher operating costs due to being console+pc crossplay mmo instead of a unity mobile game.
I kneel
>show gameplay
>every game looks like complete ass that was put together in a day, with the exception of JSR
I'm usually a gameplay trailer kinda guy, but they really should've just kept it to showing logos. Crazy Taxi looked like a gamejam project made in Unity.
Ecco the Dolphin is coming back
I fricking wish. Property is cursed.
Good job Sega. Have a kiss.
I want a shining force, but it needs to be good. I don't want some FE wannabe, I want the 90s Japanese Fantasy Kino brought into the modern day.
Same anon, same I’d love for something to dethrone FE in its own unique way
Shinobi was like Ninja Gaiden if I didn’t wanna play a very hard game at the time. It’s still pretty challenging but just on the level of the average game back then, one of my favorites especially shinobi 3.
Shinobi(Genesis) somewhat eases you in to the bullshit then rips the band-aid off.
I want Afterburner.
Man, I hope they get some Yakuza devs to work on Golden Axe, that's the one series with the biggest potential to be huge.
A new Phantasy Star (not online), they're going to want this to be their Final Fantasy just watch.
Harada asking the important questions
He needs more inspiration to rip off from for Tekken
It must be an inside joke since he's referenced it too many times even to AM2 workers and they didn't deny it
You don't know how actually pumped i am about Sega pouring their everything into making high quality games again shjdksjdksjkfkd
Of course they gotta make sure these games are good otherwise i don't really expect anyone to buy em tbh, they really gotta give their all here
>shjdksjdksjkfkd
What?
If these games do good, along with Sonic, Yakuza and the Atlus games, they're going to be above Capcom and Square Enix for me, hell they might as well have their own console again with all these damn IP's.
I want Phantasy Star JRPG. Not this MMO shit.
Get Atlus on it.
>pass by finnish guy during race
>PERRRKELE FAFFAN SAATANA
>AND MORE
FLOIGAN BROS... IT'S TIME
I knew you came from Ganker to shit up /vr/
Binary Domain sequel when

Moonwalker reboot when?
do you think he diddled Sonic too
Come onnnn NiGHTS.
And Ecco.
And Vectorman.
>New Streets of Rage ost
I hope they don't frick it up because the old osts are godlike
Will Golden Axe be a gore fest?
the answer is they have none of those, the more is there as an easy speculation bait that is never wrong cus obviously they're always making more games (eventually), but the reality is if they had any more in development RIGHT NOW they would've shown, so no, theres nothing else in progress.
RISTAR 2 BABY
Please also bring back powerstone
Thats Capcom, Anon.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/entertainment/video-games/2023/12/08/sega-reboots-crazy-taxi-jet-set-radio/
>Sega also promises to revive even more legacy properties. Fighting game fans have been wondering why the first 3D fighter series Virtua Fighter is so dormant. Utsumi said the company is aware of the game’s niche status.
>“We are evaluating right now. Virtua Fighter doesn’t use so many tricks, special moves like in Street Fighter, it’s very realistic,” Utsumi said. “How can we make it more dramatic? It’s something we’re working on.”
VF confirmed
Interesting. So at least they're aware and trying to think of how to capture an audience for VF, which it totally could have if they pull their cards right and give them time
In the 1990s, Sega marketed itself as being the counterculture. Its TV commercials had a guy screaming the company’s name, representing a “rebel yell” against Nintendo’s dominance of the games industry.
That same yell returned in a trailer at the Game Awards in Los Angeles on Thursday night. The trailer showcases five new games from Sega series that mostly have been dormant for more than a decade: “Crazy Taxi,” “Golden Axe,” “Jet Set Radio,” “Shinobi” and “Streets of Rage.”
“Golden Axe” and “Streets of Rage” are traditionally 2D brawler games now being adapted to 3D. “Crazy Taxi” was an arcade hit centered around time-based street racing that’s getting a modern update. “Shinobi” seems to stay true to its 2D action roots but stylized with colorful flat-shaded animation. And the Tony Hawk-inspired “Jet Set Radio” will get a second chance after amassing a small but loud cult following.
Sega co-chief operating officer and Sega of America CEO Shuji Utsumi said this is a strategy he initiated that’s finally bearing fruit. Utsumi was instrumental in launching Sony’s first PlayStation console and Sega’s last console, the Dreamcast.
“We really want to show edginess and a rebellious mind-set,” said Utsumi, recalling Sega’s cultural impact as the “alternative” game console.
The Dreamcast was Sega’s last console before the company made the historic decision to become just a games publisher and developer, conceding the console market to Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft. Despite its failure, it’s grown a loyal cult following that recognizes how the machine was ahead of its time, including having built-in online connectivity.
Utsumi said when he returned to Sega four years ago, he found a “treasure trove” of intellectual property to revisit. Originally for Dreamcast, “Jet Set Radio” (2000) was an experimental game that mixed extreme sports, 3D platforming and graffiti art, a concept so unique it was only replicated earlier this year by another studio.
Utsumi said these legacy series can find second life now that the games industry has a captive global market large enough to sustain Sega’s weirder concepts. Utsumi has firsthand knowledge of testing strange concepts as co-founder of Q Entertainment, a studio behind games that played with the concept of synesthesia and dance music.
"Shinobi" is a classic Sega console and arcade series, and a new title was announced at Thursday's Game Awards in Los Angeles. (Sega)
“The concept of games like ‘Jet Set Radio’ is advanced. The original creators are involved again, and its time is now,” he said. “It’s a good time where people can appreciate all kinds of concepts.”
Utsumi credited three ongoing Sega franchises for holding up the company in recent years: Sonic the Hedgehog, which has now released two blockbuster Hollywood films; Yakuza, the crime drama (now rebranded as Like a Dragon) that’s grown a large U.S. following; and Persona, the role-playing series about mystery-solving teens.
“We’ve been investing into these three titles the last three years, making these pillars grow, and they grew very well,” he said.
So his argument is that the gaming market is large enough to sustain these weirder games given that it's so huge nowadays. Hopefully they stick the fall, but they're saying the right sounding things. We shall see though, words are words.
