Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope

Anybody try this out yet?

How does it stack up against the other Mario RPGs?

Really excited to hear it, been fucking starving for a good one. Hoping it can scratch the itch because the only game to come close in recent memory was Bug Fables and that's really more of its own thing.

Not gonna get this until the inevitable definitive edition with all DLC goes on sale for $20, but I enjoyed the first one.

      Are Rabbids optional?

Yep, completely optional outside of whatever missions introduce the new characters and the tutorial

Luigi continues to do Luigi things
      >BIG damage at fuck you ranges
      >Steely Stare got buffed to go through walls
      >he can get guaranteed crits if he has high ground
      >he can dash again after a team jump (more of a side thing if you don’t want a dedicated dasher)
Basically as long as he’s not dealing with a ton of fodder enemies he can put in work

        Anonymous

        Speaking of dedicated dashers
        >Edge
        >gets four dashes maximum
        >her movement range can increase with each dash so she’s kinda like a dash Mario
        >every dash makes her next dash a bit stronger
        >her weapon can also get stronger with every hit and get wider
She’s basically a fodder cleanup flanker

    >Only Beep-0 and Jeanie are fully voice acted
    >Rabbids are only partially voice acted
    >Mario and co just use voice clips
    Huh?

      >mfw the mario/rabbids crossover looks better than any of the mario/sonic games
what the fuck is happening and how did we get here

This, if they were given the green-light to have voice acting in the game, you'd think they'd go all in.

Tanabe is the worst person to ever work at Nintendo.

You say that, but the guy that thought the Twerkey was a good idea is out there somewhere.

It’s better than every single other Mario RPG. Better than the Paper Marios, and just above the Mario and Luigis and RPG.

    >make a rabbid of
    >make it's design something straight out from a 2000's teenager DeviantArt page
    >Name her edge
    >Make her act like it
Well at least they are honest about it

I hated the design at first too when it was first revealed but it’s pretty clearly a riff on that stuff with the hairdo and buster sword ass weapon. It’s a little on the nose but honestly I kind of appreciate the goofy homage.

Mario and rabbid peach have a better chemistry than Mario and real peach in this game

Rabbid Peach somehow ended up being my favorite character from the first game, they have a lot of great moments in the base game and DLC. It seems like they mellowed them out for this game too which is nice.

      Why

Gameplay is better than the first but the new voiced dialogue is off putting. Beep-O sounds like C-3PO and Rabbid Luigi lost his child-like charm with the teenaged sounding voice.

      >Beep-O sounds like C-3PO
No big shock to me there, I always imagined him sounding like that.

I always equated him with R2-D2 myself since all he did was beep in the first game.

      >Beep-O sounds like C-3PO
Honestly that’s kind of a perfect voice with how they were written in the first game. I agree with Rabbid Luigi though, maybe they were trying to have some sort of progression from child to teen though? I think they did a good job with the other rabbids at least.
