>4 was amazing
The movement system was great >The challenges were just harder
Nah, it was extremely railroaded in that you had to do challenges that were basically the same as from the trilogy, except you couldn't chain them together. You HAD to do them one at a time, which makes THPS4 feel like the trilogy, except all you had to do was collect the 5 hall passes in school 2 and nothing else.
>THPS3
Alright I got two minutes, Let's get the 3 scores, SKATE, visit 10 countries, and airwalk the escalator on this run >THPS4
Alright, run to this guy to get SKATE, then run to this guy and get the high score, and then run to that guy and race him, then run to that guy and do 3 spine transfers before going to that guy and doing the tricks they say (Hope I get 3 kickflips in a row, that's 2 less tricks!)
>4 >i think i will freeskate around and find some cool places to combo >alright i feel confident to try the highscore challenge now
overlooking why it's a better overall experience, speedrunning troony
>better overall experience means limiting what you can do
No wonder cinematic trash took over. I bet you think RDR2 blocking off the entire world in every mission to railroad you into specific sequences was great design too.
I did miss the Arcadey aspects of the first 3 THPS games and some of the objectives sucked but most of the Pro Challenges and those hard objectives were extremely satisfying to complete.
To me, they're all perfectly playable up through American Wasteland. There's just a difference in quality between 1/2/3/THUG and 4/THUG2/THAW
Project 8 is what Wasteland should've been, though.
Racing franchises all seem to suffer from this. Usually they bring better graphics and slightly improved physics at the cost of a worse single player experience, less cars and tracks, botched multiplayer lobbies and options, etc.
I'm struggling to get into this one after playing 3. Is it worth persevering or should I just go back to 3?
In all honesty, you can skip 4 and just play Underground. But after that, feel free to abandon the series
3>2>THUG>1
THUG2>THUG
What about underground 2? I'm a big jackass fan so I'm expecting to really like that one

3 is the highlight of the series, it never reaches those heights again.

Am I the only one that loved Project 8? easily my fav TH game.
You're in a minority, that's for sure.
i will say that the PS2 version was shit, but the ps3 version was great.
>Massive downgrade overall
that is obscenely false, i refuse to participate in your bait thread
Grab the boxes. You have 2 minutes and you can't do any other objectives at the same time.
oh no! anyway ..

I can literally do that in 3, while also being able to do multiple things at once.
>troony
No, you.

>Forge, Theater Mode but campaign and multiplayer are way worse than 2
GAME OF THE DECADE?
if the sun says it, it's gotta be true.
I love that it was made irrelevant like, 2 months later
THPS4PC>THPS4PS1

gears of war 2. aside from the story being great, everything on paper was MUCH better, but it still felt like a downgrade
