Kind of. VS has the tagging out but there's a focus on having 3 Attributes in hand (Fire, Earth, Dark) to activate various effects. You should pick it up regardless, VS is probably the most fun deck in the format right now and probably the most "honest" if you actually care about that kind of shit.
Thanks for the recommendation anon. Does it seem like it will be good in the future as well? Or is it one of those decks that are just good because it plays well against the current other meta decks?

You'll hear a couple people here swear up and down that it "drops off" because it became less popular in the OCG, but that's not assured in MD because it assumes Fenrir gets banned like it did in OCG or limited. Fenrir is really fricking good for this deck not just because it is Fenrir, but it's an Earth and can search itself or a copy of Riseheart which is a Fire. VS is also good right now despite a shit Branded matchup and shit Lab matchup going second. It's also tied to the handtraps that are popular at the moment. When the Earth, Fire, and Dark handtraps are good, VS is good. When board breakers and Wind and Light handtraps are good, they're not as good just because of the way the deck ratios work.

Can't post a list right now but most lists are fairly similar outside of what handtraps they run and if you run Desires or not. Something I would suggest that I don't see a lot of people do in their lists is in addition to the typical handtraps, play Veiler over Imperm. Imperm is common to play in VS despite not being a monster but Veiler (also despite being a Light) has the benefit of not being a dead draw off of Heavy Borger on the opponent's turn. Also don't run TCBOO, no one actually runs that in VS because MD has no side deck and the deck doesn't need help going first, at all. Yet people seem to be under the impression it is standard.

That card was so fricking annoying in the GBA game. You were restricted to one heavy storm and you probably had one MST so you had to keep them around when the CPU threw that down.
Yeah, for enabling Life Equalizer OTKs. Anyone talking about it's use as a floodgate is wrong, the card was restricted because it's a really easy way to put yourself at low LP without killing yourself. It could read "Pay any multiple of 1000 LP: Send this card to the GY", and it still would have been hit.
After a year or so hiatus and getting back into the groove of things again and getting to Plat feels good. Kinda.

You should know the answer to that question if you know each deck's gameplan, I do agree that Droll can be a bigger impact handtrap but it depends on their deck whereas Ash is a lot more generally useful on top of countering Maxx C.

Helpful rule of thumb: Any extra deck monster that interacts with the main deck is very strong, and usually worth Ashing. Main exception: never ash Balelynx

I hate the Yu-Gi-Oh artstyle so much. Any other CG has an established world and lore, and all of the cards' arts and themes are, for the most part, internally consistent and synergistic enough to feel like it's all in the same world. Yu-Gi-Oh shit on the other hand has so many different themes that are barely related to each other, there's fairies, demons, cybernetic warriors, smiling jars and so many other things that just don't mesh well enough for me to ever be attracted to the game.
I guess this stems from the game literally just being a game in the universe, unlike other card games. Yu-Gi-Oh's lore is about people playing Yu-Gi-Oh through cooler mediums than you, while in stuff like Magic or Pokémon, the game is an abstraction for wizards subjugating reality and using it to do battle, or trainers gathering resources, connections and magical monsters to do battle, respectively. Something about Magic and Pokémon feels authentic, while Yu-Gi-Oh doesn't have that
Drastic Draw literally has Yusaku on the card. Or if you count cards not out yet, the new Ancient Gear Commander they revealed that's just Crowler if he Ancient Gear.
In most other ones you have them all take place in the same world. YGO's take place across several different ones and within those it's generally similar.
Although I will say if you really think "any other CG" is consistent, you're dead fricking wrong.
More card games, alive or dead, have varying styles.
Pokemon's varies heavily, Vanguard's varies heavily, the dead FE Cipher one varied heavily, the Digimon one varies.
Moreover, in games like Vanguard you have giant divine dragons alongside gun nuns with cute faces and their giant breasts barely being held by the edge of their clothes. Even Duel Masters does this.

Is this game worth playing if I'm just starting out? Mtg arena's mobile port is fricking atrocious and I need something to kill time at my do-nothing night shift security job.
the game has a very steep learning curve with a tutorial that doesn't really teach about high level play very much so expect to do a lot of outside reading and research
If you are just looking to kill time it's not the worst I guess. If you want to actually have fun with yugioh I'd recommend one of the tagforce games instead. .
I grew up watching the gx anime and recently started on playing yugioh cause of master duel, I'd say it's somewhat worth it. I've only been playing for 2 ish months and I'm having fun. The game's complicated and sweaty as frick though, you need to learn a lot of shit to have fun. It's a pretty good time waster.

That Shifter sucks this format because it's dead on too many relevant matchups and you really need the non-engine to beat those matchups (Kash and VS), you can't afford to start the game 1 card down.
Started seeing a bunch of Nibs suddenly in the middle of Master so I started running 1 Carpedivem to counter them.
VS gay here, I almost cut shifter on my M1 run too but the amount of Dragon Link I saw was insane. That said it's still useful as a reveal in my deck so it's never fully dead like in others.
Really? I always really battle in the DLink matchup, what am I missing? If they go first, how do you get through Dis Pater + Branded Beast + Borreload Savage/Borrelend?

You can't beat anything going second if you draw 0 non-engine. In your scenario you drew no handtraps so either you have board breakers in hand or you lose because you drew 6 engine cards in Exosister.

I think I'm almost done tweaking this mill slop deck. If I get 4s, I go Minerva and mill 5. Two 8s is Zombie Vamp and mill 5. Two 6 and I go mill with Pilgrim Reaper. Chaos Ruler for more mills and Kitkal situationally. I've added as many mill cards as possible as well as generic targets I found online. I've noticed I don't have enough links to generically dispose of field fodder and I have no good rank 7. Do you guys think I should ditch hot red archfiend for something else? Any other generic good mill targets I missed? I've been doing really well with this in ranked and I wanna see if I can get to Master 1 with an improved version.

VS can just summon Razen or Mad Love and pass. Sometimes it’s worth giving a draw to summon wiener if the Vanquisher

Because everyone is always complaining about it here when the deck comes up, I decided to do the funny double Enterblathnir into UDF option with Generaider instead of actually summoning good monsters, and it turned out my opponent was a non-bot playing Destruct Potion FTK so I hope it annoyed him a lot.
Trap cards are only good if you can cheat them out turn one ala remove their entire mechanic or say kill your opponent in real life, and the trap has to be searchable otherwise it's not worth it anyway

Ash is 90% useless in the current meta, and only serves to stop the roach. Pretty much every fricking deck in the meta can easily play past Ash.
So what's the defense for Maxx C when someone has the counter to your counters during turn 1 and then they get to Maxx C you on turn 2 but now you have nothing and they have a full board.

I hate the Yu-Gi-Oh artstyle so much. Any other CG has an established world and lore, and all of the cards' arts and themes are, for the most part, internally consistent and synergistic enough to feel like it's all in the same world. Yu-Gi-Oh shit on the other hand has so many different themes that are barely related to each other, there's fairies, demons, cybernetic warriors, smiling jars and so many other things that just don't mesh well enough for me to ever be attracted to the game.
I guess this stems from the game literally just being a game in the universe, unlike other card games. Yu-Gi-Oh's lore is about people playing Yu-Gi-Oh through cooler mediums than you, while in stuff like Magic or Pokémon, the game is an abstraction for wizards subjugating reality and using it to do battle, or trainers gathering resources, connections and magical monsters to do battle, respectively. Something about Magic and Pokémon feels authentic, while Yu-Gi-Oh doesn't have that

I grew up watching the gx anime and recently started on playing yugioh cause of master duel, I'd say it's somewhat worth it. I've only been playing for 2 ish months and I'm having fun. The game's complicated and sweaty as frick though, you need to learn a lot of shit to have fun. It's a pretty good time waster.

Trap cards are only good if you can cheat them out turn one ala remove their entire mechanic or say kill your opponent in real life, and the trap has to be searchable otherwise it's not worth it anyway

Ash is 90% useless in the current meta, and only serves to stop the roach. Pretty much every fricking deck in the meta can easily play past Ash.
