Do you just eventually learn how to parse what your opponent is doing in real time? When the opponent does combos it all happens so fast and just kinda blurs together and I have to spend 5 minutes reading the duel log to find out what happened
A lot of the time you don't need to know what 90% of an opponent's cards do, you're better off just learning what the common choke points are to interrupt.
You read the cards on their end board looking for the text "quick effect". If it's there, then pay attention, if not, then do whatever. If your opponent stops your play with a card in the GY, Banish Zone or hand, then you just try to remember what they are for next time and take the loss.
Its mostly when they flip face-down spells/traps and then suddenly there's monsters flying on and off the field and when its all said and done 5 2000+ monsters are on the opponent's field.
You only need to learn what meta decks do because you are going to be facing them on the regular. Nobody knows what every single rogue deck #11241 does. Just look at the endboard.

Yes it takes a while though. Popular decks you'll just learn what they do from seeing them enough, to the point where you could play them at least somewhat competently yourself, and rare decks you'll get better at figuring out what they're trying to do from just knowing the game more in general.
Stuff like "oh they have a lvl x and lvl y and one's a tuner so they're probably trying to go into this synchro" or "They used up their normal summon already and they have few cards in hand so if I interrupt here I'm pretty sure they'd need a great hand to keep going" will come more naturally as you get more familiar with the game.
Even the best players get thrown off by stuff though. You can watch the world champion stream against some deck that you know about but he doesn't and be screaming to yourself "NOOO IF YOU LET THAT INNOCUOUS SOUNDING EFFECT RESOLVE YOU'LL LOSE" and then it turns out you were right and he loses a winnable game.

People posted their pulls and now there is nothing to do. What am I supposed to do now? I spent 12,000 gems for 3 ash and the blue eyes stuff. Everything I get now I’m throwing at the apollousa pack for her alt then I’m back saving. I’m broke on both URs and gems. I hard crafted the entire snake eyes deck from the pulls from ash and blue eyes. There is nothing left to discuss in the game.

If you ash oak as the second summon they still make promethean amblo. You can probably find lethal still but they immediately get to promethean ash back if you fail to lethal due to handtraps.
Lab and snake eyes can play into it. Even decks that technically autolose to droll like shs can play into it from using wakaushi’s pendulum effect normaling a 4 then going into bagooska

It's completely obsoleted by diabellstar of course since that's a way better engine that also doesn't use your normal, but for a few months it was very playable.

What normal summon do you prefer? I find The Calculator to be better sometimes than Gren Maju, and sometimes a Vanity monster is fine but I'm packing the two tribute one. Mega Zaborg takes too much resources.

Frankly Blue-Eyes is not good, but yeah that gives you most of what you need for a basic BEWD deck. Which will probably be good enough for the event since all the actually good decks are banned in it.

Nah, there's nothing to stop you from playing Blue-Eyes unless you're a hypercompetitive person who wants to get the the high ranks ASAP(which there's really no reward for doing).
And 1500 gems is basically nothing, so getting a whole deck for that is good even if it's not competitive.

No one seriously uses Wanghu in stun decks. If they do it's as a funny gimmick to occasionally get a favorable matchup where your opponent doesn't read him and has all their monsters blow up. He's nowhere near the radar on what makes stun decks viable.

TG's version of Junk Speeder locks you into TG monsters only. At least Speeder lets you summon any Synchros. It's more complicated since you need to summon Crimson Dragon on your opponent's turn and then have a level 12 TG Synchro monster to summon Calamity from.
Synchron dies to Imperm, Veiler even if you chain block. That's why you should summon Accel Synchro Stardust for Immune Speeder or summoning Baronne first before Speeder.

PUNK is like rogue rn, definitely playable but you're a deck that searches and specials a lot in Maxx C & Droll format. Your endboard also usually features no omninegates unless you open a random extender for Baron so there's the possibility of getting BTFO by a single evenly or something.
Otherwise, pretty fun and bouncing 4 backrow or suiciding your way to a 8000+atk PEP is addictive.
PUNK doesn't do well vs droll. You can end on like dragite + sharakusai or the gold pride trap depending on which way you started, but that's like 1/5th of your usual endboard.
You know, I get the people who like using the Runick cards for actually playing the game, but I have to agree with those that want the cards limited and banned. Runick cards are too good at enabling shitty stun decks to be left untouched.
roonick is turbohomosexual and should have every card at 0 for 2 reasons
1. built in quick-speed protection by just making hugin whenever you want
2. it turns quickplay spells into handtraps and draws you 3 of them per turn, that's unfair. imagine if you could activate called by or crossout from the hand on your opponent's turn?

The best way to counter opponents is to know how to play their deck. Even if you don't want to play stuff like Branded, Labrynth, etc. that's common on ladder it's worthwhile to watch some combo line videos on them to know where to stop them.
Yes it takes a while though. Popular decks you'll just learn what they do from seeing them enough, to the point where you could play them at least somewhat competently yourself, and rare decks you'll get better at figuring out what they're trying to do from just knowing the game more in general.
Stuff like "oh they have a lvl x and lvl y and one's a tuner so they're probably trying to go into this synchro" or "They used up their normal summon already and they have few cards in hand so if I interrupt here I'm pretty sure they'd need a great hand to keep going" will come more naturally as you get more familiar with the game.
Even the best players get thrown off by stuff though. You can watch the world champion stream against some deck that you know about but he doesn't and be screaming to yourself "NOOO IF YOU LET THAT INNOCUOUS SOUNDING EFFECT RESOLVE YOU'LL LOSE" and then it turns out you were right and he loses a winnable game.

Nem is legitimately not a bad deck. It just gets memed on because people try and build awful gren maju piles with it and expect that to compete with snake eye ash or branded fusion.

Nah, there's nothing to stop you from playing Blue-Eyes unless you're a hypercompetitive person who wants to get the the high ranks ASAP(which there's really no reward for doing).
And 1500 gems is basically nothing, so getting a whole deck for that is good even if it's not competitive.

TG's version of Junk Speeder locks you into TG monsters only. At least Speeder lets you summon any Synchros. It's more complicated since you need to summon Crimson Dragon on your opponent's turn and then have a level 12 TG Synchro monster to summon Calamity from.
Synchron dies to Imperm, Veiler even if you chain block. That's why you should summon Accel Synchro Stardust for Immune Speeder or summoning Baronne first before Speeder.

Yikes. There's a bunch of ways to make an immune Speeder but yeah, if you opened like shit, it's hopeless.
PUNK is like rogue rn, definitely playable but you're a deck that searches and specials a lot in Maxx C & Droll format. Your endboard also usually features no omninegates unless you open a random extender for Baron so there's the possibility of getting BTFO by a single evenly or something.
Otherwise, pretty fun and bouncing 4 backrow or suiciding your way to a 8000+atk PEP is addictive.
PUNK doesn't do well vs droll. You can end on like dragite + sharakusai or the gold pride trap depending on which way you started, but that's like 1/5th of your usual endboard.
You know, I get the people who like using the Runick cards for actually playing the game, but I have to agree with those that want the cards limited and banned. Runick cards are too good at enabling shitty stun decks to be left untouched.
roonick is turbohomosexual and should have every card at 0 for 2 reasons
1. built in quick-speed protection by just making hugin whenever you want
2. it turns quickplay spells into handtraps and draws you 3 of them per turn, that's unfair. imagine if you could activate called by or crossout from the hand on your opponent's turn?

You don't run bagooska. The alien link 3 Zer'oll when you have their trap (which you search with him) is just basically bagooska.
Reptiles' only competent option is Ogdoadic because they never get archetypes really. I guess Reptilianne could be neat in a low power format like an event. In the future they get Raika which is a really neat reptile/plant/insect link engine.
Warriors have Infernoble whose brand new support is pretty great, though you're playing an objectively worse combo deck than SHS.

They're never going to ban cards in the Diabellstar package, it's been meta in the OCG for 6 months untouched and is also the current lore archetype. At best you might see a WANTED limit or something.
