If Konami was being serious they could probably bring every ruler back. Only Tidal has an actual good effect and you need to be playing a critical mass of water monsters for it to be accessible. The Rulers as cards are the most abusable in Dragon Link strategies as extenders, but that deck already has more accessible and better extenders in every Bystial, the Rokkets/Quick Launch, and a ton of generic link monsters. As a dedicated strategy they're crippled by Rank 7 cards being about as shitty as they were in 2014. Imagine how Dracossack pass would go over in 2023. If they pivoted to a link strategy they'd just be outdone by existing Dragon Link decks.

Even if their board is empty they could have something like Effect Veiler, and if they don't toggle on fast enough you can get some pops off before they negate it.

You need to go into your settings and switch chain activation order to manual or something like that. I don't know why it's not manual by default as if THAT'S the one thing that's too complicated for new players.
Monsters with negates/floodgates shouldn't have 3000(+) atk, I think this is really bad design. They really have the best of both worlds, having huge attack AND the ability to stop your opponent from even attempting to challenge your attack in battle phase. I believe that YuGiOh should be about monsters battling monsters. If negates/floodgate effects are going to exist on monsters, they should be more passive (attack in the 2000's OR super high defense stat)

analyzer's cydra effect wasn't important to adamancipator either, but without it the deck's going second capacity is made markedly worse. dragite having non-targeting non-destruction removal wasn't what made the deck either, but your board breaking is made significantly worse without it. just because something isn't integral doesn't mean it has no impact. albaz being a super poly makes going into cartesia after doing all your branded fusion stuff an additional interruption by way of granguignol. that's an actually important line of play you go into often.

No, if Albaz were a normal monster then we can assume Rindbrum's GY effect which is all his effect matters for would've been designed to do more than just summon a vanilla. But even IF Rindbrum's GY effect only summoned a vanilla it's not like that would matter much for the deck.

i'm talkin from experience playing it in chimera, were rindbrum is the whole reason to play branded stuff. albaz is also genuinely one of the best things to draw off guardian chimera since swordknight has nothing else to do turn 3 so you can really use him as a board breaker before committing to chimera fusion, if he was a dogshit vanilla i wouldn't even consider playing more than the 1 minimum.

That said, right now they're really missing a S/T searcher, without which they can't really be played by themselves. I've seen an Infernoid deck that made pretty good use of the monsters due to the level 1 fire synergies.

Yeah, the newest Ogdoadic card lets them do a lot of link plays, but still pretty reliant on getting Snake Rain or drawing both the level 4 guys.
If Snake-Eye just gets a level 1 that searches a "Snake-Eye" card or S/T then they'd have 9+ starters for a monster steal on the opponent's turn with infinite follow-up off of just 1 card. Not really a crazy interaction compared to a lot of modern stuff, but still a lot easier to play than the reptile pile.

If Konami was being serious they could probably bring every ruler back. Only Tidal has an actual good effect and you need to be playing a critical mass of water monsters for it to be accessible. The Rulers as cards are the most abusable in Dragon Link strategies as extenders, but that deck already has more accessible and better extenders in every Bystial, the Rokkets/Quick Launch, and a ton of generic link monsters. As a dedicated strategy they're crippled by Rank 7 cards being about as shitty as they were in 2014. Imagine how Dracossack pass would go over in 2023. If they pivoted to a link strategy they'd just be outdone by existing Dragon Link decks.

They're not allowed to chain to it, but if you put it as chain link 1 then chain something else to it they can then chain to that other effect. Even if their board is empty they could have something like Effect Veiler, and if they don't toggle on fast enough you can get some pops off before they negate it.

You need to go into your settings and switch chain activation order to manual or something like that. I don't know why it's not manual by default as if THAT'S the one thing that's too complicated for new players.

Monsters with negates/floodgates shouldn't have 3000(+) atk, I think this is really bad design. They really have the best of both worlds, having huge attack AND the ability to stop your opponent from even attempting to challenge your attack in battle phase. I believe that YuGiOh should be about monsters battling monsters. If negates/floodgate effects are going to exist on monsters, they should be more passive (attack in the 2000's OR super high defense stat)

i'm talkin from experience playing it in chimera, were rindbrum is the whole reason to play branded stuff. albaz is also genuinely one of the best things to draw off guardian chimera since swordknight has nothing else to do turn 3 so you can really use him as a board breaker before committing to chimera fusion, if he was a dogshit vanilla i wouldn't even consider playing more than the 1 minimum.

Yeah, the newest Ogdoadic card lets them do a lot of link plays, but still pretty reliant on getting Snake Rain or drawing both the level 4 guys.
If Snake-Eye just gets a level 1 that searches a "Snake-Eye" card or S/T then they'd have 9+ starters for a monster steal on the opponent's turn with infinite follow-up off of just 1 card. Not really a crazy interaction compared to a lot of modern stuff, but still a lot easier to play than the reptile pile.
