A match with purrely tends to be very long. Scoop and find a next match would be much more quicker.

People just don't enjoy playing against Purrely, it's a deck that takes forever to do things because it has a lot of prompts just to end on a tower and/or Draco Future + Nightingale, and the latter becomes a huge problem as it does nothing but stall the game even more. Dueling against decks that abuse non-OPT effects is also highly obnoxious.
I built Purrely simply because I enjoyed the art, but I'm highly considering dusting the deck because the gamestyle bores me to death.

At least I can immediately end game with a well placed golem against most combo decks, dealing with purr is awful.
That's the problem with a deck that is usually played as consistently as possible, people know what's going to happen and if they don't have what they need in hand they might as well skip to the next part, which is defeat
I don't have a full purrely deck but I'm going to see if I can procure the title by pretending I'm lagging and using the cards I do have, stuffing the rest with handtraps
Not even that, recovery is stupid strong and usual methods of breaking board don't work, kaiju give back gas for another turn, and bird prevents OTK, you absolutely need herald and baiting is out of question because send effect isn't OPT at all.
so board-breaking is out of the question, what about handtraps? which ones would work to stop purrely from reaching that state? imperm, gamma, ash, crow, shifter, etc?
Here’s my ideas for an archetype: Alphabet letters. 26 cards with the letters A to Z. All have the same floating effect of “if there is a card that starts with this letter, you can return any cards whose name is that letter only from your field or graveyard to your hand.” And you can only do this to 1 letter per turn, then you use the cards in your hand to spell out words to give you various effects, like if you spell out NO, you can discard those card to negate and effect, but if you spell out NOT, you can negate and destroy. X can sub for any letters, Y can sub for any vowels, and if you can spell out a word from an opponent’s monster, you can copy that monster for a turn. Field card allows you to change its name into any letters so you can recycle key cards if there’s no card with that letter on the field.

I think I only wanna build Magikey and Abyss Actors, both of which I'm like, 2 URs away from finishing... Everything else is something that's upcoming: Horus / Centur-ion / Voiceless / Melodious / Ritual Beasts / White Woods, I don't quite know what I'm gonna do with my overflowing stash of gemmies past this point.

I have like 7k gems stored up and 120urcp and NOTHING this coming month interesses me, I'll hold regardless because like, I know they're gonna make centurion / voiceless extremely expensive but that's kind of it
The purely guy here. I can’t believe I played the deck finally and I timed myself out. Why is there so much shit going on? My poor opponent just had to sit there and watch me fumble my cards around for 5 minutes.
Free to play player here. Here’s my experiences so far >mill deck
About 40 percent win rate. Soul levy is great in this format, and that combined with morphing jar 2 gets me a decent mill, most duels end up with the opponent down to 5-7 cards before I run out of attack blockers and eat a big one, but fun to play and definitely need some patch-ups >pure watt deck
About a 30 percent win rate. Just gotta black enough time and then it’s a dps race. Needs more support though. Thinking of adding some battery man to beef up my monsters, but I really want the pure archetype >madolche
About a 60 percent win rate. The monster attacks are low but it’s got decent removal and is pretty consistent with getting the boss monster out. Problem is I’m not quite sure how to use the teacher, and juggling cards in graveyard to use their effects can be weird sometimes >toon deck
Measly 10 percent win rate. Too slow to do anything, and the few times iI win is because of a Relinquished I snuck in there in hopes of rebuilding Pegasus’ deck. Definitely needs some support and retooling.
No im thinking of building an exodia deck, but a classic stall and not the meta library draw deck.
I’m too poor to afford the fancy cards. When I play cards that combos heavily, it’s like every card is a UR. How do they get so much UR? I save my gems for pulls and I get like maybe a single UR per 10 pull. Not even enough to convert gems for a single card. So I generally see what UR’s I already have and work around those.
Also, how should I be doing my pulls? Should I just do singles until I get a secret pack I need? Otherwise I feel like my gems are wasted on the generic packs since by the time I get a secret pack I need, I’m out of gems and by the time I get a bough to do another 10 pulls the pack I need is gone. Help.
You can choose which packs to unlock by crafting? Have I just been wasting my gems all this time?

Game even have a tab to see which packs you can get the card.
No singles, you're not guaranteed to get anything good. Decide on a deck, save dust until you can spend at least on 3 of the 10 pack pulls, because if one comes with no UR you want to try again, if you don't have for a second pull the guaranteed UR chance resets after a while. Always get the secret packs crafting an SR you want 3 of if possible in case you pull it again. No master packs, dust everything you don't want to use until you have a complete deck, and always prioritize engine and archetypal cards to staples

Tistina is a garbage deck (The XYZ can be used in rank 10 decks tho) and the UR dino sees no play anywhere.
Keep unicorn since it MIGHT go to 1.

Daily reminder that nobody truly knows what a meta will look like with absolute certainty in MD because:
1. MD, as a digital client that hosts millions of matches a day, can gather real data and at a speed paper could never keep up with
2. A unique banlist to MD so there are intricacies that don't apply to the other formats
3. Best of 1 is how Yugioh was meant to be played.

I think the game should reward good decision making/ mind games to play around nib. My deck could make an ok, but not ideal, play under nib where I special summon 4 times and use my normal summon to make an ok board. Instead Nib just creates a haves vs have not situation where my deck is gated out while all Baronne and Apollo turbo decks get to negate it in 4 special summons, then they get to combo off like nothing happened.

There's just no counter play to dumb shit like Zeus and it's clear they aren't interested in banning so let's power creep some more. How about this: On either turn when your opponent activates a quick effect from a special summoned monster, discard this card and negate that effect. It's interactive, fair and has a few gaps.

Still somewhat big investment given that cards need be coded by scratch, guaranteed, most card games are ridiculous simple compared to ruling nightmare that YGO can bring.
But people see more value on 30-60 bux game with then current rotation than buying whatever sets, ygo don't rotate but format changes making updates harder but retain card value for casuals.

Their focus on the actual card stories is a good idea because it makes people care about archetypes. They started with a self contained story (Sky striker) which was a safe bet and then moved to one that could be its own thing but touched into more stories from there (Magistus). I guess it could also help measure popularity and thus support for the actual game

There's no skill involved, just handtraps and extenders check
Boardbreaker isn't really viable too because they just have so many follow-up if you don't completely stop them from playing
I almost made it to diamond 1 and fell all the way back down to 5. I'm never doing this again until snake eyes gets nerfed to the ground. Going through diamond is only like 5 days worth of dailies anyway, not fricking worth the headache.

People just don't enjoy playing against Purrely, it's a deck that takes forever to do things because it has a lot of prompts just to end on a tower and/or Draco Future + Nightingale, and the latter becomes a huge problem as it does nothing but stall the game even more. Dueling against decks that abuse non-OPT effects is also highly obnoxious.
I built Purrely simply because I enjoyed the art, but I'm highly considering dusting the deck because the gamestyle bores me to death.
It is slow even by paper standards, and was susceptible to a lot of timeout tactics on game 3

All that and in the time it takes to finish a single game against Purrely I can play 3 others each of which might be fun. Here’s my ideas for an archetype: Alphabet letters. 26 cards with the letters A to Z. All have the same floating effect of “if there is a card that starts with this letter, you can return any cards whose name is that letter only from your field or graveyard to your hand.” And you can only do this to 1 letter per turn, then you use the cards in your hand to spell out words to give you various effects, like if you spell out NO, you can discard those card to negate and effect, but if you spell out NOT, you can negate and destroy. X can sub for any letters, Y can sub for any vowels, and if you can spell out a word from an opponent’s monster, you can copy that monster for a turn. Field card allows you to change its name into any letters so you can recycle key cards if there’s no card with that letter on the field.

About 40 percent win rate. Soul levy is great in this format, and that combined with morphing jar 2 gets me a decent mill, most duels end up with the opponent down to 5-7 cards before I run out of attack blockers and eat a big one, but fun to play and definitely need some patch-ups

About a 30 percent win rate. Just gotta black enough time and then it’s a dps race. Needs more support though. Thinking of adding some battery man to beef up my monsters, but I really want the pure archetype

About a 60 percent win rate. The monster attacks are low but it’s got decent removal and is pretty consistent with getting the boss monster out. Problem is I’m not quite sure how to use the teacher, and juggling cards in graveyard to use their effects can be weird sometimes

I’m too poor to afford the fancy cards. When I play cards that combos heavily, it’s like every card is a UR. How do they get so much UR? I save my gems for pulls and I get like maybe a single UR per 10 pull. Not even enough to convert gems for a single card. So I generally see what UR’s I already have and work around those.
Also, how should I be doing my pulls? Should I just do singles until I get a secret pack I need? Otherwise I feel like my gems are wasted on the generic packs since by the time I get a secret pack I need, I’m out of gems and by the time I get a bough to do another 10 pulls the pack I need is gone. Help.

No singles, you're not guaranteed to get anything good. Decide on a deck, save dust until you can spend at least on 3 of the 10 pack pulls, because if one comes with no UR you want to try again, if you don't have for a second pull the guaranteed UR chance resets after a while. Always get the secret packs crafting an SR you want 3 of if possible in case you pull it again. No master packs, dust everything you don't want to use until you have a complete deck, and always prioritize engine and archetypal cards to staples

I think the game should reward good decision making/ mind games to play around nib. My deck could make an ok, but not ideal, play under nib where I special summon 4 times and use my normal summon to make an ok board. Instead Nib just creates a haves vs have not situation where my deck is gated out while all Baronne and Apollo turbo decks get to negate it in 4 special summons, then they get to combo off like nothing happened.

MD had the luck that it launched on the meta it did, because it still worked as a promotion device for cardboard, but imagine someone really getting into it and checking the actual game's meta only to refuse to actually invest because the game is in a constant state of stagnation. I think that's why Konami is pushing the mangas and the animated stuff now, they realized if they want people to whale on a pretty free to play game they need to hit them in their love of archetypes, like the people that have al royal decks

Their focus on the actual card stories is a good idea because it makes people care about archetypes. They started with a self contained story (Sky striker) which was a safe bet and then moved to one that could be its own thing but touched into more stories from there (Magistus). I guess it could also help measure popularity and thus support for the actual game

Now you can't do either
Snake-Eyes is really annoying to go against because you either draw enough handtraps to stop them or they draw enough extenders to play through your handtraps
There's no skill involved, just handtraps and extenders check
Boardbreaker isn't really viable too because they just have so many follow-up if you don't completely stop them from playing
I almost made it to diamond 1 and fell all the way back down to 5. I'm never doing this again until snake eyes gets nerfed to the ground. Going through diamond is only like 5 days worth of dailies anyway, not fricking worth the headache.
