There's really not a single reason to play it outside of sunk cost at this point. At least before it was a nostalgia format.

Konami realized anime decks were too bad to be good even in DL so they gave every one a skill that does everything for you to keep up. Making decks rely on skills also makes it so they can kill a deck you spend $$$ on without having to touch the cards, because there's no compensation for skill nerfs.
For example Galaxy Eyes had a skill that put Number 90 in their ED, the skill later got nerfedx to not add No90. SO they basically got to ban a UR and kill a deck with no paybacks.
They realized they can just modify overpowered bait skills a few months down the line to destroy an entire deck and there's nothing the playerbase can do about it but seethe.
I called duel links a more volatile time bomb back when it launched and i feel vindicated, having less zones inherently hinders horizontal development of the game; meaning the game can do less so powercreep has to go faster.

The most played decks right now are either forced to use effects or always do so for Sleepy draws, and nobody is choosing not to use Maxx C/Ash to play around Thrust. If your oppponent builds a non Purrely/Kash board and chooses not to interact with you multiple times, that's just Thrust exerting pressure to let you play.
it depends on your deck, for example let's say you play a gy dependant deck and your opponent summons arise-heart. You are going to wish you could search an out with thrust.

People aren't doing that, though, which is the entire point. Everyone who has Maxx "C" uses it anyway.
If you go second, most interaction your opponent has on your turn is monster effect related unless you're facing something like Sky Striker or Lab, and both of those decks can turn on Thrust as well.
The ladder's not intelligent enough 90% of the time to hold Ash either for their own turn or for your Thrust.

They're still selling King Calamity in a structure deck in stores, banning card when the product is out in market is bad in multiple ways. Master Duel won't have this issue.

Centurion has 3 different two card combos to bring it out and can slot into almost any deck. Only reason it's not seeing more play is that Diabellstar is unbelievably busted.

Is there any link-1 or link-2 monster that can tribute itself or otherwise get rid of itself somehow?
I want to normal summon Resonance Insect and link it off to send it from field to GY, so I can search Mother Spider Splitter. However, Mother Spider Splitter requires an empty field.
One way I can think of is making Time Thief Redoer with another level 4 monster, then using its effect to send Resonance Insect to GY. Since it banishes itself I would have an empty field afterwards.
However, if let's say I don't draw too well and the only playable card I have is Resonance Insect to be normal summoned. I could link it off for Salamangreat Almiraj for example and grab a Level 5 or higher Insect, but then I'm not sure what to do since I can't summon Mother Spider Splitter (Almiraj is still on the field)

But you'd have to use her interaction after I:P or you get fire locked out of avramax/unicorn/goddess.

Konami realized anime decks were too bad to be good even in DL so they gave every one a skill that does everything for you to keep up. Making decks rely on skills also makes it so they can kill a deck you spend $$$ on without having to touch the cards, because there's no compensation for skill nerfs.
For example Galaxy Eyes had a skill that put Number 90 in their ED, the skill later got nerfedx to not add No90. SO they basically got to ban a UR and kill a deck with no paybacks.
They realized they can just modify overpowered bait skills a few months down the line to destroy an entire deck and there's nothing the playerbase can do about it but seethe.

The most played decks right now are either forced to use effects or always do so for Sleepy draws, and nobody is choosing not to use Maxx C/Ash to play around Thrust. If your oppponent builds a non Purrely/Kash board and chooses not to interact with you multiple times, that's just Thrust exerting pressure to let you play.

it depends on your deck, for example let's say you play a gy dependant deck and your opponent summons arise-heart. You are going to wish you could search an out with thrust.

People aren't doing that, though, which is the entire point. Everyone who has Maxx "C" uses it anyway.
If you go second, most interaction your opponent has on your turn is monster effect related unless you're facing something like Sky Striker or Lab, and both of those decks can turn on Thrust as well.
The ladder's not intelligent enough 90% of the time to hold Ash either for their own turn or for your Thrust.

I want to normal summon Resonance Insect and link it off to send it from field to GY, so I can search Mother Spider Splitter. However, Mother Spider Splitter requires an empty field.
One way I can think of is making Time Thief Redoer with another level 4 monster, then using its effect to send Resonance Insect to GY. Since it banishes itself I would have an empty field afterwards.
However, if let's say I don't draw too well and the only playable card I have is Resonance Insect to be normal summoned. I could link it off for Salamangreat Almiraj for example and grab a Level 5 or higher Insect, but then I'm not sure what to do since I can't summon Mother Spider Splitter (Almiraj is still on the field)
Make Armorhorn and activate it to tribute summon Mother Spider. Donner would be the other option.

Konami wanted me to play the deck so goddamned bad they gave me 4 CRs and 6 URs in my TAMA boxes (of course not seeing a single Fountain which was what I actually bought the set for).
And then gave me a Secret and the Starlight in one box of DABL as well.
I got Ariane, Labyrinth, and Lovely CR (Arianna was too expensive). My TAMA box didn't have any, it had Runick Tip and regular UR Lovely (and Mamonaka but eh).

Yeah, they're supposed to be like 1 per case but I'm starting to feel like it's just the vendors scalping prices or something because I've gotten a special rarity in every order even if it was just one box since GEIM.
Hell, I only bought 12 random packs of PHHY from Walmart because the set overall didn't interest me much and pulled Mirrorjade.
I think it's accurate, I've never seen people pull more than 1. I usually don't chase the high foils, I just really love Labrynth.
Although I'm pretty sure you also just generally have good luck. In all the years I've spent on this game, I've never pulled any, all of them have been second hand or singles.
Meanwhile I open 5 packs of Digimon and get two Secret Rares with one being an alt art one, and open 1 random BT10 from shartmart and it has fricking alt art Gaiomon inside it. I don't even shop there more than once a year usually because my locals sells stuff for half the price shitmart does.

Are you me? I rolled for lab in MD and got a full runick playset in 6k gems.
I used 10k (f2p) and had gotten so many spare Runick URs that the dust from them alone was enough to complete my Lab deck without even breaking the Runick deck itself (I still have it, never used it but it has all the URs at max copies except Huginn, who's at 2x).
I legitimately can't hate her even though the deck is pure cancer, just the idea of a lonely demon who may or may not be LARPing with living dolls all the servants have cracks in their faces as if they were damaged porcelain dolls, labrynth also made fumos of herself and the knight so it's not a completely crazy assumption and a emotionless/autistic female knight who also plays along is too cute, let alone the fricking artwork, she has bags under her eyes due to spending the entire night setting up traps, and her dress is extremely flashy/revealing because she wants people looking at her breasts rather than her face.

If a card doesn’t say target then it doesn’t target. Target is a specific gameplay designation. Cards with non-targeting removal are good because they get around targeting protection.

I’d rather then release more support for shitty fusions than leave instant fusion around - it’s just a bad card the ruins themes for most decks. It helps strong decks far more than your pet deck, and I am saying that as a Predaplant player.
The thing is that Instant Fusion IS still around as far as card design goes. It's only banned in MD, and they're not designing archetypes with MD's banlist in mind.
