Ukobak and Indulged are kind of shit for a normal summon.
They weren't the best decks, they were just people experimenting with Ishizus as an engine because we've never had a format that had them before Tearlaments until MD. They would have fallen off over time even if Tears didn't release.

If you're talking about the Event legacy tickets those at least are useful if you still need something like Penguin brave, which I did and got from it.

Infernity is probably one of the most soulless decks of all time. It's like Pend Magicians where they just use it as an engine for generic extra deck payoffs, but they can also pivot into OTKs, handloops, lingering locks, etc. Really sad to see. Thankfully if you interrupt Launcher or Archfiend in any way they have zero fallback plays so most just scoop. I remember facing an Infernity player recently and they tried to send something (as cost ofc) to grave, which triggered a special summon if they had no cards in hand, but I bounced a random card and they scooped instantly. I get hating meta decks for being too strong but there's a lot of degenerate rogue strategies out there too.

That checks out. I've been maining a combo deck since release and while I still enjoy the deck I wanted a change of pace and want something that doesn't fear Maxx C as much. Was probably going to build a trap deck, Traptricks or Labrynth, depending on if we finally get that Labrynth support next pack.

I'm the same, I built it months ago and I even crafted Grass for it but I have rarely used it, that's why I keep asking for decklists to see how are people playing the deck since there's nothing in MDM or YGOPro. I'm hoping Cartesia comes next month since it seems she helps a lot with putting Vice Master on the field.

I wish Fur Hires had something in-archetype to do with all that advantage besides fuel underpowered negates. I played in TCG when Maxx "C" was at 3 to 2 to 1 to 0, and I am currently playing in the OCG where Maxx "C" is at 3.
For me, Maxx "C" is actually a very well designed card and is not degenerate at all. I think Ash Blossom and Ghost Ogre are better designed, and that when Maxx "C" was at 1 it felt like it was better at 3 or 0, but overall I really do enjoy the game with Maxx "C."
The reason for this, is because Maxx "C" is a card that doesn't prevent gameplay. It's not a floodgate like Emptiness, so it doesn't make the game un-fun. It provides an opportunity to balance your play, calculate advantage over development, and a way for a deeper gameplay.
Maxx "C" is healthy too because it punishes decks who develop too deeply, and are too focused on developing turn 1. It promotes a more diverse style of game play, and forces people to build decks with some sort of concession that Maxx "C" is in the format. What I mean is that people need to build such that if they are met with Maxx "C" in turn one, then they need a back-up plan in some sort of back row or Maxx "C" of their own. I remember when I was playing with 0 Maxx "C" and I always just felt so safe going first, like I was never going to get punished for playing a linear-board building deck. At most I was just going to get 1 for 1'd with Ash or something.
In terms of why OCG have it at 3, and why TCG has it at 0? I really don't know other than OCG just has the more extreme versions of any format, and TCG just has the more tame versions. I feel like the existence of stronger traps in the OCG means Maxx "C" can exist in a more tame environment.

Infernity is probably one of the most soulless decks of all time. It's like Pend Magicians where they just use it as an engine for generic extra deck payoffs, but they can also pivot into OTKs, handloops, lingering locks, etc. Really sad to see. Thankfully if you interrupt Launcher or Archfiend in any way they have zero fallback plays so most just scoop. I remember facing an Infernity player recently and they tried to send something (as cost ofc) to grave, which triggered a special summon if they had no cards in hand, but I bounced a random card and they scooped instantly. I get hating meta decks for being too strong but there's a lot of degenerate rogue strategies out there too.

That checks out. I've been maining a combo deck since release and while I still enjoy the deck I wanted a change of pace and want something that doesn't fear Maxx C as much. Was probably going to build a trap deck, Traptricks or Labrynth, depending on if we finally get that Labrynth support next pack.

This is it for me today. Let's look at some of the past formats. Against Swordsoul, you bounce Longyuan, which is super strong. Against Branded, you bounce Albion/Lubellion, so they are now forced to fusion something else instead of Mirrorjade. When you make a videogame your job, you need to perform relatively well most of the time, or make your identity "dumbass who sucks at the game and people show up to laugh at him". Otherwise you don't make money. Most people are not willing to do the latter, so they feel obligated to do the first and start foaming at the mouth when they fail.

I wish Fur Hires had something in-archetype to do with all that advantage besides fuel underpowered negates. It's a rare example of an archetype that they actually attempted to balance, so you're stuck with running a small Fur Hire package in Spright/Runick decks as a way to get extra draw power instead of going for generic Rank 2 plays.

I played in TCG when Maxx "C" was at 3 to 2 to 1 to 0, and I am currently playing in the OCG where Maxx "C" is at 3.
For me, Maxx "C" is actually a very well designed card and is not degenerate at all. I think Ash Blossom and Ghost Ogre are better designed, and that when Maxx "C" was at 1 it felt like it was better at 3 or 0, but overall I really do enjoy the game with Maxx "C."
The reason for this, is because Maxx "C" is a card that doesn't prevent gameplay. It's not a floodgate like Emptiness, so it doesn't make the game un-fun. It provides an opportunity to balance your play, calculate advantage over development, and a way for a deeper gameplay.
Maxx "C" is healthy too because it punishes decks who develop too deeply, and are too focused on developing turn 1. It promotes a more diverse style of game play, and forces people to build decks with some sort of concession that Maxx "C" is in the format. What I mean is that people need to build such that if they are met with Maxx "C" in turn one, then they need a back-up plan in some sort of back row or Maxx "C" of their own. I remember when I was playing with 0 Maxx "C" and I always just felt so safe going first, like I was never going to get punished for playing a linear-board building deck. At most I was just going to get 1 for 1'd with Ash or something.
In terms of why OCG have it at 3, and why TCG has it at 0? I really don't know other than OCG just has the more extreme versions of any format, and TCG just has the more tame versions. I feel like the existence of stronger traps in the OCG means Maxx "C" can exist in a more tame environment.
