Yeah, Salamangreat is only good enough to top a YCS, it'll never stand up to the unforgiving meta of Master Duel's Gold III. Spending 1500 gems and 30 UR dust will absolutely BRICK a new player's account irrecoverably, and they should instead be spending 25k gems on Master Packs to craft an optimized Spright deck before realizing that they find it boring.

My problem is I quit playing right around the time Synchro became a thing so I'm really behind. The solo gates are helping but not by much. I guess if I had the patience to go through every card in every pack I'd know what I was after but they only give you 24 hours on secret packs which is pointless and sucks total ass.
Secret packs can be unlocked by just crafting an SR in that pack, and you even get 1 free pack when you do that the first time. Don't worry about them expiring. SR points stop being valuable after playing for a while, and URs are the only thing that really matters.

What? 4 URs from a 10 pull is nearly double the average, and master packs are SHIT for getting actually good ones, so 1 Judgement is great. Visas is also kinda good.
Usually people just screenshot the endscreen after the 10 pulls, or go to deck edit and filter by UR and sort by recent to show their pulls.
Its faster than trying to string together some screenshots.
Overall the pulls are sort of bleh. Judgement is pretty cool if you wanna play trap decks, and can be an okay backrow for the time being in low ranks.
Usually the only thing we look at is the URs. Everything else is extremely easy to craft, so usually that isnt a consideration at all.
Of those Secret Packs, Number Recall is the one which actually have a meta relevant deck in Numerons, but that deck is.... something else. I heavily advise against pulling that.

For the 24 hour limit, it really isnt an issue, its just bait for new players tbh. Just craft a relevant sr and it comes back, no problem.
If you really do want to dive on ranked immediately, try watching some exordio lists on the structures. He is often recommended because his lists is pretty solid and even gives budget options. While not the most heavy hitting, for 1500 gems its good enough to learn the game

I love swordsoul events. They always show the most interesting and fun swordsouls that the playerbase is well known for. I mean, just look at the decks people bring. Theres combo swordsoul, control swordsoul, midrange swordsoul. Hell theres even some spicy going second swordsoul ive seen.
Its events like these which really brings me out of the frustrations of ranked and remind me how yugioh can be a fun game

Im sorry to say this guys but: Yugioh dragons are shit.

Create more semi-generics like Dragite. Ban Baronne and create a Baronne that requires a fire monster as material, or requires you to control a zombie or some shit. Make an Xyz that is comparable in strength that requires you to banish a fiend from your GY as cost. Stuff like that.
All this does is create a lop-sided meta where instead of just having only a small set of meta-viable decks, you also render the majority of the decks in the game completely unplayable as a result.
Release cards that lock the players but are also able to get to the point of their plays faster. You cannot un-do the Generic issue, all you can do is entice people to play newer cards that have fewer moving parts for similar payoffs.
You don't, because if you kill generic boss monsters then decks which Konami designs to be good will end up with overly oppressive in-archetype boss monsters which make everything else not worth playing >but the good decks can make generic too!

TL;DR Top and Good are battle ready. Everything else isn't.
Zombies need far more than little to no investment if you want the deck to be halfway towards almost decent. Blackwings needs 1(one) archetypal UR that's not in the SD not counting the one that they gave us all for free, and everyone cares about Ninjas.
They were in the game on release alongside Pend Mages so they were made just to convince people to spend on the secret packs. It's only with the Dragonmaid Structure Deck that they started actually making them really good bang for your buck.

Branded is the most coddled archetype that konami ever printed even with all the meaningless semi limits. The deck is barely a year old and already it has enough support to build an entire 60 card main deck and 15 card extra deck of purely good archetypal cards.

Consistency hits are so lame. It doesn’t change the ceiling of the deck. The ceiling of the deck is still as high as it was 1 month ago. All it does it make so duels are incredibly swinging. They either open their 1 offs or 2 offs and they roll you over or they brick and you roll over them. All it does is make the game less interactive
The only unplayers are those taking a bo1 gatcha format seriously. MD is to casually log in from time to time and play some duels, and not bother with ranking up or anything like that.

I didn't want to go into the festival with my Swordsoul deck and I realized I had all the pieces of Ghoti just from getting lucky with my 2k gems I spent on the pack when it released. So I built a Ghoti deck for the synchro festival. I've got a pretty good understanding of what the deck is trying to do and how to play it but it's so mediocre that I kind of hate that I'm now familiar with how to play this deck.

Technically you can add the /Assault Mode version of him from your main deck to your hand, but yes it's for the main deck support for the card instead of putting him back in your extra deck from the graveyard.
It sends him from grave to extra deck which is good with their new card thats meant to replace chaos ruler that tags out into him after you synchro with it so you can synchro again.

Probably not, since you'd have to basically win on the same turn, and I don't really see how three random cards from your deck are gonna help you with that if you lose access to the rest of your deck. Not to mention that the card isn't easily searchable, so you probably won't be able to use it for banish burn shenanigans either.
I can imagine using it along with card of demise to pick and choose the perfect floodgates, but you'd still get decked out 3 turns later so I guess you're right

Easiest example is mirrorjade. Effect activates once mirrorjade leaves field, but only happens during the end phase where it is not counted as activating anything. This destroys the PEP because it is not activated, it simply happens.
It's only immune to things that start chains, and only while that chain is resolving. So you could flip Skill Drain and it'd be negated. You could destroy mirrorjade in battle and it'd be destroyed in the end phase.

Yes, you activate continuous cards to get them going. But as long as they stay on the field, their activation effect (if they have one) is now treated as a continuous effect, if that applies.
Fiendish Chain activates to target a monster, and then apply it's continuous effect to said monster. PEP is not untargetable. The negate on Fiendish Chain is treated as a continuous effect as soon as the activation resolves.
Thus, PEP is affected by cards like Skill Drain. You activate it by paying 1000LP, then after resolving, it's negation effect is now in place as a continuous effect.
Is excavating just worse milling? Like yeah you excavate 5 instead of milling 3, but like if I mill 3 and hit nothing, those nothings won’t be in my deck anymore to continue to cuck me later.

95% of decks these days do a bunch of shit in the grave. There's a difference between a mill deck / a graveyard deck where the majority of your plays take part in it
With the whole adamancipator discussion I'm in solo mode trying it out and as long as I can start with an adamancipator name in hand I can end on elf + baronne + IP pretty much every time, without touching the grave

You can only activate certain things during the damage step. Counter traps, ACTIVATION negations, things that directly alter attack/defense, and things that state you can use them in the damage step.

My problem is I quit playing right around the time Synchro became a thing so I'm really behind. The solo gates are helping but not by much. I guess if I had the patience to go through every card in every pack I'd know what I was after but they only give you 24 hours on secret packs which is pointless and sucks total ass.
Secret packs can be unlocked by just crafting an SR in that pack, and you even get 1 free pack when you do that the first time. Don't worry about them expiring. SR points stop being valuable after playing for a while, and URs are the only thing that really matters.
What? 4 URs from a 10 pull is nearly double the average, and master packs are SHIT for getting actually good ones, so 1 Judgement is great. Visas is also kinda good.

Usually people just screenshot the endscreen after the 10 pulls, or go to deck edit and filter by UR and sort by recent to show their pulls.
Its faster than trying to string together some screenshots.
Overall the pulls are sort of bleh. Judgement is pretty cool if you wanna play trap decks, and can be an okay backrow for the time being in low ranks.
Usually the only thing we look at is the URs. Everything else is extremely easy to craft, so usually that isnt a consideration at all.
Of those Secret Packs, Number Recall is the one which actually have a meta relevant deck in Numerons, but that deck is.... something else. I heavily advise against pulling that.
For the 24 hour limit, it really isnt an issue, its just bait for new players tbh. Just craft a relevant sr and it comes back, no problem.
If you really do want to dive on ranked immediately, try watching some exordio lists on the structures. He is often recommended because his lists is pretty solid and even gives budget options. While not the most heavy hitting, for 1500 gems its good enough to learn the game

The Blackwing structure offers most of the core cards, in fact I remember only crafting 1-2 URs... and Ninjas are definitely pretty fricking good. Rogue tier competitively. It's hard to judge how good the structure will be when we don't have it, though.

Not to mention that the card isn't easily searchable, so you probably won't be able to use it for banish burn shenanigans either.

If it makes a chain and isn't continuous it's activated
Easiest example is mirrorjade. Effect activates once mirrorjade leaves field, but only happens during the end phase where it is not counted as activating anything. This destroys the PEP because it is not activated, it simply happens.
It's only immune to things that start chains, and only while that chain is resolving. So you could flip Skill Drain and it'd be negated. You could destroy mirrorjade in battle and it'd be destroyed in the end phase.

Yes, you activate continuous cards to get them going. But as long as they stay on the field, their activation effect (if they have one) is now treated as a continuous effect, if that applies.
Fiendish Chain activates to target a monster, and then apply it's continuous effect to said monster. PEP is not untargetable. The negate on Fiendish Chain is treated as a continuous effect as soon as the activation resolves.
Thus, PEP is affected by cards like Skill Drain. You activate it by paying 1000LP, then after resolving, it's negation effect is now in place as a continuous effect.

They are very expensive (like, a lot of ultra rares, you'll spend a lot of gems rolling on stuff you only use for dinos) but make really strong boards going first, can go second very well, and can even play cancer FTK shit if you're subhuman

You can only activate certain things during the damage step. Counter traps, ACTIVATION negations, things that directly alter attack/defense, and things that state you can use them in the damage step.
