I like the ghoti deck but have discovered I'm a fricking moron who pulls the trigger on the field wipe fish way too early and loses immediately afterwards. It also feels like I'm swimming in tuners half the time - is this just because I'm comboing incorrectly and can't win before it's a problem or is that common with Synchro decks?
For the loaner, i usually get the jellyfish looking fish to special summon a leaffish then leaffish mills the fish that can banish itself to give atk. This is pretty much the full combo.
I played VW enough to grab the gems for 5500 and do the synchro summon missions, then fricked off and haven't touched it again. FRICK Synchro Fest.
Anthology has been fun though, I'll miss it when it's gone again.
Does being returned to the hand/deck bypass "leaves the field" effects?
Duel replay gave me a Branded vs Swordsoul duel where Mirrorjade and Quaeritis kept getting bounced by Baxia multiple times over 3 turns for no effect.
Bouncing/Spinning cards prevents those effects from happening because cards in the hand/deck can't activate their effects(except for when they can lol)
Cards can't activate effects in the deck or extra deck. Bouncing Mirrorjade can bypass its effect because it returns to the Extra Deck.
This is especially funny/frustrating for Krawlers, who have an in-archetype card that can change an opponent's monster effect to "return 1 opponent's monster to the hand", which is meant to activate the effects of your main deck Krawlers when they leave the field. However, if this gets used on your Link monsters, which have the same leaves-the-field effects, you instead get nothing out of it because the Links cant trigger their effects if sent back to the Extra Deck, so you're essentially just giving your opponent free removal while getting nothing out of it yourself.

any card that says "This card's name is always treated as" is treated as that card name at all times, even outside of a duel, and since you can only have 3 copies of a card's name in your deck, you can't have 3 "a legendary ocean" and then add the original umi since technically a legendary ocean doesn't exist, since it's always considered umi. this happened with the harpies before but it never created an issue like it did with warrior of atlantis who they wanted to only be able to search a legendary ocean and not just every card that is treated as umi card, so they had to come out and specifically state that it just works despite it breaking game rules.

The card's name is Umi while it's in your deck. If you look through your deck for a card to add, you will find 3 copies of Umi and 0 cards named A Legendary Ocean.

I see it you are new to the game. Floodgate decks can get away with card of demise despite special summoning monsters because getting to floodgates is more important than getting the runick engine in play, at least for the first turns.
Dispelling is actually a good card to resolve, and not just a Runick name. Worrying about the potential to combo the two of them together is silly when everyone you face will search something at some point.

Pyro clock only works on cards that specifically count turns, blockman doesn't fit the critera as its effect happens when it hits the field.

1) Tearlaments are not Tier 0 in MD, and never have been, thus it's not necessary to make banlist hits as heavy as the paper formats, so Kit can stay.
2) Tearlaments were Tier 0 in Master Duel, but the hits made to the deck helped reel it back into a more reasonable power level. Given the fact that Sulliek is down to 1, and you can still hit Kelbek down to 1 if you need another hit to fine tune them, given where they currently are in power, it's not really necessary to do something as drastic as banning Kit to balance them.
Remember kids, Master Duel is its own format and a higher power level. Paper cucks mindbroken by the use of a banlist for pseudo set rotation will have to cope.
Then don't share your idiotic opinions. No one cares.
If Tears were Tier 0, then they're clearly not anymore, and don't need harsh hits.

I'd love for something like untapped.gg like MtGA has, where the decks exact winrates and matchups are tracked collectively and automatically among users. But MDM os the best we got.

I played Counter Fairies in the first Xyz event just to stop you people from killing yourself and to cause frustration and waste your time like you were wasting mine.
I wouldn't say battle phase interactions are that irrelevant, but you're mostly right. It's really battle traps that are 99% bad. A well timed interruption in the battle phase depending on what it is can literally save you from lethal and give you the turn you need to win on the clapback next turn.
replays don't show the full hilarity of the situation. Running one of these cards and having the opponent stuck in the main phase, then thinking why they can't go to the end phase, then moving to the battle phase, then unable to move to the end phase again because they haven't attacked... That's where the humor comes from. Replays just skip to the scoop.
I touched Master 3 yesterday one game from Master 2 and immediately proceeded to a losing streak of ranking down to Master 4 for the entire fricking day yesterday. Made it back to Master 3 in a half hour today, totally not some kind of W/L ratio shaping going here.
So for you guys who aren't in the mickey mouse ranks, what's your opinion on the best decks right now? I think it's this order at the moment. Not talking about just pure power level otherwise Tear would still be the top, but mostly perceived win rate/consistency >Spright and Runick Spright >PUNK Bystial and Bystial Synchro >Branded >Dragon Link >Tearlaments or Branded Tear >Rikka and Naturia
Bystial Synchro is extremely underrated at the moment, and I'm shocked I don't see it more, it's like everyone forgot we have Assault Synchron, ASS, and Chaos Ruler all legal at the same time earlier than they were supposed to be out.

Haven't seen this yet, sounds like obnoxious solitaire cancer reliant on Chaos Ruler though. Ergo, extremely dependent on winning the coinflip and nit getting interrupted to be a total douche bag. Likely dies to Tears I'd say. Like most combo decks.

Absolute Copium decks. Even Swordsoul is better.

What's really getting to me about Spright right now is how the current builds double the frick down on Nimbles and Frogs. Makes playing Bystials feel like a waste of time. This is also why I don't feel like Rikka and Naturia are meme decks, both give no fricks about Bystials and that's huge. Every top deck right now gets fricked by Maxx C except Tear and Branded, kind of so I don't really see that as a strong argument for them being memes.
Also, don't count out D-Link. The deck is hard to play well, but the deck is so hard to interrupt sometimes and has tons of lines to get through interruption. Bad D-Link players get farmed though, for sure. One thing I will say though, if you're playing D-Link and you see your opponent set 1, that strikes fear into their hearts that they just matched up with a Branded player who drew Albaz and their entire board is about to be wiped. That for sure is keeping them from being a top 3 deck.

This list got me to master 5. Levianeer is a must and Magnamut can easily search it for you. You only need 1 baby dragon each (bystials do their job but better), Just recycle them with regained/choas space. The best combo starter is normal Seifert pitch a bystial, search Magnamut/Saronir. I put in 3 super poly because the new endboards spright can make with sprind are bullshit. The 2 regained are because everyone is running bystials and regained gets you so much advantage.
Caring about summoning types is moronic. It's archetypes and boss monsters that are problems. When MD released the scariest fusion deck was fricking Invoked. They just happened to make a few overpowered fusions to change that, and they could just as easily make an overpowered deck/engine for any summoning type.
Because it's going to defacto be immune to at least 2/3 of the card types in the game and it has obvious synergy with floodgates. Master Peace has gotten better with age, not worse.

Duel replay gave me a Branded vs Swordsoul duel where Mirrorjade and Quaeritis kept getting bounced by Baxia multiple times over 3 turns for no effect.

Bouncing/Spinning cards prevents those effects from happening because cards in the hand/deck can't activate their effects(except for when they can lol)

Cards can't activate effects in the deck or extra deck. Bouncing Mirrorjade can bypass its effect because it returns to the Extra Deck.
This is especially funny/frustrating for Krawlers, who have an in-archetype card that can change an opponent's monster effect to "return 1 opponent's monster to the hand", which is meant to activate the effects of your main deck Krawlers when they leave the field. However, if this gets used on your Link monsters, which have the same leaves-the-field effects, you instead get nothing out of it because the Links cant trigger their effects if sent back to the Extra Deck, so you're essentially just giving your opponent free removal while getting nothing out of it yourself.
Card is then considered face down. My guess is that a leave the field effect resolves only if the monster is face-up elsewhere but the field.

1) Tearlaments are not Tier 0 in MD, and never have been, thus it's not necessary to make banlist hits as heavy as the paper formats, so Kit can stay.
2) Tearlaments were Tier 0 in Master Duel, but the hits made to the deck helped reel it back into a more reasonable power level. Given the fact that Sulliek is down to 1, and you can still hit Kelbek down to 1 if you need another hit to fine tune them, given where they currently are in power, it's not really necessary to do something as drastic as banning Kit to balance them.
Remember kids, Master Duel is its own format and a higher power level. Paper cucks mindbroken by the use of a banlist for pseudo set rotation will have to cope.

I wouldn't say battle phase interactions are that irrelevant, but you're mostly right. It's really battle traps that are 99% bad. A well timed interruption in the battle phase depending on what it is can literally save you from lethal and give you the turn you need to win on the clapback next turn.
replays don't show the full hilarity of the situation. Running one of these cards and having the opponent stuck in the main phase, then thinking why they can't go to the end phase, then moving to the battle phase, then unable to move to the end phase again because they haven't attacked... That's where the humor comes from. Replays just skip to the scoop.

I touched Master 3 yesterday one game from Master 2 and immediately proceeded to a losing streak of ranking down to Master 4 for the entire fricking day yesterday. Made it back to Master 3 in a half hour today, totally not some kind of W/L ratio shaping going here.

So for you guys who aren't in the mickey mouse ranks, what's your opinion on the best decks right now? I think it's this order at the moment. Not talking about just pure power level otherwise Tear would still be the top, but mostly perceived win rate/consistency

Bystial Synchro is extremely underrated at the moment, and I'm shocked I don't see it more, it's like everyone forgot we have Assault Synchron, ASS, and Chaos Ruler all legal at the same time earlier than they were supposed to be out.
Spright (non-Runick) is the best for laddering.

Arguably the strongest deck due to deckbuilding flexibility and overall consistency. Has the best matchup vs Tears.

not a good choice, run Runick cards in Spright, but don't run a pure build like old. Floodgates are no longer reliable.
>PUNK Bystial/Syncro
Haven't seen this yet, sounds like obnoxious solitaire cancer reliant on Chaos Ruler though. Ergo, extremely dependent on winning the coinflip and nit getting interrupted to be a total douche bag. Likely dies to Tears I'd say. Like most combo decks.

Very very good. Very strong matchup vs Tears. It's about 50/50. Struggles more with Spright.

This one I have seen. It's underwhelming since it has nothing to do if interrupted though the Bystials let it trade with Tears.

Ishizu/pure build is much stronger. Struggles with consistency compared to Spright and Branded, but has the best grind game out of all of them.
>Branded Rear
This is a pure Copium build that gets absolutely wrecked by the pure build, as the hits to Tears affect the mill consistency, and the wild nature of the mills means you're likely to often mill away your precious Branded Fusions. This doubles vs. Ishizu Tears.
>Tikka/Naturia
Absolute Copium decks. Even Swordsoul is better.
What's really getting to me about Spright right now is how the current builds double the frick down on Nimbles and Frogs. Makes playing Bystials feel like a waste of time. This is also why I don't feel like Rikka and Naturia are meme decks, both give no fricks about Bystials and that's huge. Every top deck right now gets fricked by Maxx C except Tear and Branded, kind of so I don't really see that as a strong argument for them being memes.
Also, don't count out D-Link. The deck is hard to play well, but the deck is so hard to interrupt sometimes and has tons of lines to get through interruption. Bad D-Link players get farmed though, for sure. One thing I will say though, if you're playing D-Link and you see your opponent set 1, that strikes fear into their hearts that they just matched up with a Branded player who drew Albaz and their entire board is about to be wiped. That for sure is keeping them from being a top 3 deck.
Spright is the most consistent easily

I think Naturia and especially Rikka are inconsistent as hell in Maxx C format. Rikka seems much better in TCG. Rikka's full combo endboard is super strong but it literally can't do anything but hold that L if the roach goes off and it struggles going second
Tear is unironically the least consistent top tier right now. When it gets going, it seriously gets going. But with the hits + bystials it's so easy for them to just completely whiff on mills or even if you get 1 girl she just gets bystialled and then you've got a weak as hell end board. Sulliek to 1 will make this even more of a problem. They're still probably the best deck when they get going

This list got me to master 5. Levianeer is a must and Magnamut can easily search it for you. You only need 1 baby dragon each (bystials do their job but better), Just recycle them with regained/choas space. The best combo starter is normal Seifert pitch a bystial, search Magnamut/Saronir. I put in 3 super poly because the new endboards spright can make with sprind are bullshit. The 2 regained are because everyone is running bystials and regained gets you so much advantage.

Most of the extra deck is flex spots to be fair Baronne comes up like 1 in 10 games. Most decks Neel to Borrellend regained, and baldrake in hand.

They just happened to make a few overpowered fusions to change that, and they could just as easily make an overpowered deck/engine for any summoning type.
