Your opponent didn’t special summon a monster. He activated card or effect that summon a monster. If it says “your opponent summons a monster”, it only refers to summoning that doesn’t start a chain eg. link, synchro, etc.

Ojama tokens lock zones because they can't be tributed for tribute summon. Back in GX era there weren't many fusions that could use those tokens, and dropping Dark Hole burned you.
Even as far as ZeXal era, Ojama tokens still had value as clogging zones because they blocked XYZs and in rarer cases Pendulum. Links obsoleted the archetype completely.

Not convinced Trias Hierarchica is worth it, even if it does become a funny hand trap by tributing 2 tokens. People usually run it for Herald. If you don't want to make Diviners, then why not run the normal summon man?

I've seen people attempt it but it's always negated.

personaly might consider hop ear for synchro on opponent turn using token or lv9 into PEP
So, there's three that I've found. You either use diviner to send trias and then summon a level 1 tuner. assuming you have boss stage, you have a baronne pop, an omni negate, an additional pop/PoG from the yard all off a single normal.
The second line is not as good because MD doesn't have sleipnir, but in Runick variants of Generaiders (or if you are under floodgates you also just do this in general), you send elder entity N'tss to get a pop, then you either play Hugin for a synchro 8 or Geri for Baronne/Swordsoul Grandmaster.
The third, and your less common play will be to send Vala off of diviner so you can unbrick the Generaiders in your hand.
Overall Diviner and trias is probably the best package you can have in Generaiders, even if all you do with it is summon Trias/Vala.
Pretty nice overall.
First combo seems the most highroll of the bunch. Running 2 bricks feels fricking awful even in a deck with as small a core as genes although trias also serving as a handtrap is based.
Second combo is decent in that deck but I don't really feel like generaider runick is a real deck since both play off field spells that you want up during the opp's turn.
Last one seems the most practical, as vala is a really damn good card enough to warrant running 9 copies of it but I guess in that case you lose out on a lot of tech slots and in this case, 3 mardel would be mandatory.
Why aren't you playing Dragon Link, the most high-skill and rewarding combo deck in the history of Yu-Gi-Oh?
ada is more skillful. if I wanted to play a deck that could use chaos ruler I'd just play a chaos thunder pile which would also be more skillful. d-link is baby's first non-linear combo deck.
Adamancipators are a lot of fun but they're NOT more skillful, or even skillfull at all I'd argue, simply because once you resolve Block Dragon you acquire so much resources that it's nigh impossible to frick up your combo beyond that point unless you have no idea what you're doing. I would honestly recommend Adamancipators to someone who wants to learn combo but has never played a combo deck before, it's that easy to play. With Dragon Link you actually have to understand how your cards work and interact with each other and you're rewarded for knowing obscure and nonstandard combos.
the only thing that's even remotely skillful about d-link is not dark locking yourself before you make rom/spheres and even then that's a stretch to call a skill. managing deck ordering and maximizing the chance your excavators hit is already infinitely more skill-intensive.

Kaz wanted to make a compelling story but he was no card designer not a competitive player of any sort, so if the MC was in an impossible situation and he has to win then by the power of friendship he is gonna draw that One card that’s gonna win him the game no matter how hard is losing at the moment. Kaz had a great impact in the community that he created but at some point it when out of his hand, Konami was trying to make a card game with some sort of rules and cards from those Impossible winning duels from the Manga and later the Anime and logically those cards had to be nerfed since first the text was too long and second they would be OP for a competitive standpoint (and we should not forget that this game was made for children so the rules needed to be easy to follow).
Yeah Kaz continued making some contributions to the card game like drawing several artworks for the cards, creating the synchro mechanic and so on but he didn’t created ALL 11K CARDS in the game. Konami was the one that pushed the game to its limits innovating: mechanics, archetypes and support to the current times. Is like building a Skyscraper in fragile foundations, Konami first of all is a company and companies work is to make money, so they created broken cards to be faster and stronger that old cards but to stop those new broken cards you need more broken cards which at the end sell more broken cards.
I personally disagreed with the part that the game is supposed to be broken since there is a difference between doing broken things and stop your opponent from playing entirely, but it wasn’t Kaz’s fault it was Konami’s.
I agree 100%. Every since Spright, Tears dropped I've been having the easiest climb with labs since I run the Sphere Modes, Soul Drains and Necrovalley. Combo players build to fight against combo players but once their main engine is disabled it's all over for them. Ash does nothing to me because most brain dead players will ash pots which makes welcome able to resolve. Maxx "C" as best will get them only 1 draw. Call does nothing until a monster it's my GY. Crossout ain't going to hit anything most of the time.
I know what the game is and I am having a blast much more when I'm winning games going second. There is no greater feeling. Kash ain't got shit on me.

It depends on their hand if they can afford on a ash pot and what's already on the board if they're going first. Of course in top deck situation you 100% the pot but that goes without saying.
If you are a combo player, Ash and Maxx "C" are generically more threatening than any board the opponent can throw out. Against Ash there are exactly 3 outs, so if your turn is stopped by Ash, it is smart to aggressively deny random draws while trying to bait the ash with the likes of Maxx "C".
Even against Spright going second, I am more afraid of Ash than I am of Carrot or Red which can be easily baited.
The thing is, that when your opponent activates Extrav, there's a 50% chance that they're on a stun deck, and if you don't ash that, then you have a brick in hand, and they just drew two extra floodgates. Blind ashing Extrav is the safe choice.
It's less safe than it was a couple months ago now that Lab is around, but it's still an effective 2 for 1.
If you're in low ranks then you should probably save it to try and chokepoint them since they could be on something random like Ancient Warriors.

Honestly avarice really could be a one off in a lot of decks, but if you can dump 5 monsters in your gy, you probably are already have the ball rolling and dont need more draws
Avarice is a brick unless you specifically have everything ready
So you need deck that has a lot of starters and few extenders, that also puts five bodies in GY without actually needing them there

SJ and Heavy Storm had the same dynamic Maxx "C" and Ash do today, Heavy Storm discouraged set 5 pass while Solemn countered Heavy and let you set 5 pass if you opened SJ.
However, Solemn also stopped everything else, and was oppressive to drop after combo, so it got banned first.
Heavy was banned shortly into the Pendulum era because it was a massive combo piece with Pends, on top of clearing the board.
Solemn is alright today because it isn't nearly as turn stopping by itself. Normal Traps are generally bad and doing anything but annoying modern decks, and Solemn can't stop Monster Effect summons meaning decks like Tears can bypass it.

I'm thinking about doing the push to Master I this season, I just rushed from Gold V to Gold II with the intention of reaching Plat before today's reset and even if I got a 9 win streak with my last victory outgrinding Tears, I'm already tired. How do people find the motivation to grind all the way to Master I especially when Gold to Diamond requires 4 wins per tier?
Also I really need to add Ishizu and Bystials to Lab, I think I have only used Evenly Matched once even if it won me the duel.

I'd have argued that Tears wasn't as broken as before after the several consistency hits it received, but still having access to five Ishizu cards and Bystials, then receiving extra indirect support via Grapha and now having access to Kashtira in the next pack has allowed them to recover that stupid consistency they lost a few months ago. Sprights are just dumb, way too many ways to recover, Elf needs to be limited at minimum or outright banned.

OCG limited both so that build will not be playable in MD.
VS doesn't see a lot of play in OCG proper because it needs open Razen or SYS to be competitive, and Razen and Heavy Borger require you to keep Maxx "C" and Ash in hand.

this is false, Sulliek is a permanent negate that triggers the tear combo, Contain isn't anything on that level of power, Cryme is an Infernity Barrier and Scream's attack drop is a lingering effect. Perlereino also boosts any fusion and not just tears, meaning Winda and Drago get boosted too.
All the tear backrow also floats meaning HFD doesn't properly clear it, while you can at least do that with Racists.

If Konami wanted to ban Kitkallos, she woulda been banned on release like they did Silva. Silva loops in Bo1 format would have propelled Dark World to Tier 1 instantly, which would have encouraged more people to build the deck. But the intentionally nipped that shit in the bud.
This narrative that Tears are busted in MD cause they're trying to sell the deck makes no sense as lack of diversity is bad for MD in fact, and Tears came pre-hit, meaning they're not trying to sell the deck based on it being overpowered.
It's clear the intent is on trying to see if they can make Tearlaments a viable deck on MD that isn't completely overpowered, but still works as it was designed.
They'll ban Kitkallos if they feel that there's no other choice for a healthy meta than to just take her out. Which so far, with the deck at less than 30% usage suggests that their attempts have in fact been very successful.

Compare this to the over 65% dominance the deck had at around the same time in the OCG. Yes, the consistency hits and format have had a significant impact on the overall dominance of the deck. This is an objective fact.

Pretty much everyone agrees that the outdated card pool sucks, but it wasn't as big a deal during the Adamancipator/Eldlich format. It felt like a retro format which wasn't so bad given Halqdon and pile decks were raping the paper meta.
Then, when POTE ruined everything, I went full in on Master Duel and had a blast through the Swordsoul-Branded meta. Now the cancer is killing MD.
Bottom line, if the format is fun it doesn't matter what you are playing.

How the frick do you get into this game? Just netdeck something and play against bots for 10 hours straight until you know each card? While I do like that this game got much more complex its a fricking chore having to read each card for 5 minutes and choosing which of the 10 options is the best one.

Watch HIS YouTube videos (specifically the tournaments ones like Top 16 or Grand Finals). If you can grasp what's happening, you'll do fine on the ladder.

You'll learn infinitely more if you play against people, don't be afraid to lose. I'm currently play Madolche which runs 9 starters so I often have to scoop if I don't open with one

It starts to click pretty quickly once you start playing and card effects become second nature. Start with something straightforward like Tenyi Swordsoul or pure Punk first to get the hang of things.
You'll eventually learn what the most common cards do and how to identify keywords on card effects as you keep playing, then later will come the more complex mechanics such as when to activate "when" cards or how the Battle Step works. Just do yourself a favor and don't waste your gems on petdecks.
Though learning timing is weird. I was fricking around with my Ra deck and apparently discovered immortal phoenix causes some decks, like Tear and Sprights, to miss timing on certain things. It ended up allowing me to eke out wins here and there albeit barely.
That's just because it's a mandatory effect which means it will always go on the chain before optional effects, and since they can't respond to its effect since the card itself says so, then by the time the chain has resolved the activation window for them to use their own triggers has already passed.
Trigger effect rules can be a bit confusing at firstjust look at all the Lab loaner players fricking up with which Backjack effect they're using but once you actually look up the SEGOC rules they're very simple.

Fortune Ladies are one of the most fun decks I play. I don't just use them as an engine, I play full FL archetype, and run Every in my Extra Deck.
But I did have to eventually add stuff like Quintet and BLS soldier of Chaos and Beelze. I love the frick out of FL but they are too finicky for what everyone runs these days, not even counting the meta.
I am trying to play U.A. in ladder (Diamonds) and I found a brew with Isolde because U.A. can make Isolde and BLS relatively easy but I sit in a field with Isolde, one U.A. and two Renauds.
I can make Borrel Savage with Blockbacker + Renaud using Isolde for the Equip then make a Verte for DPE or Mirrorjade.
I can make Apollousa and sit on that plus Perfect Ace.
I can make Dunker or Slugger + BorrelSword for offensive pushes and Psychic End Punisher with notable consistency.
But all of that is boring...

You can resolve the Six Sams turn skip trap by drawing Temple of the kings or the new Arias Lab card, using Saryuja to draw into it and summon all the sams.

Crimson Dragon itself is the only Level 12 Dragon Synchro, and it can't target "Crimson Dragon", so you need level modification on another Synchro to make it work, and that's almost as difficult as summoning normally

You can summon almost every Synchro in the game off Speeder alone except the Yusei bosses, that's the problem

Speeder turbo can bring the Yusei bosses, the question of "is it more optimal than HRDA/Baroness/Arc" is a different problem, but not one that matters if speeder resolves
As long as the consistency of turboibg out a first turn board of synchro omni-negates stays below 50%, Konami will never hit it any harder. They seem very cautious to not raise that consistency.

Tears aren't exactly anything novel in TCGs. MtG had something similar with Delve. There's still plenty of design space to be explored, and the power level can still go much, MUCH higher. Fkr example, afaik, there's no strategies in Yu-Gi-Oh that allow you to take an extra turn. Something relatively more common in both MtG, Pokemon, and Duel Masters.

I mean as a genuinely viable strategy. Not as s meme. Extra turn strats in MtG have been meta, sane for DM. Hell Bombazar had to be banned because of it. And currently in Pokemon one of the top decks has a Medicham that lets you take an extra turn as a core strat. But never in Yu-Gi-Oh.
Of the top of my head I can't think of a card that lets you take an extra turn, though I'm sure there is one. There's never been one that's been relevant though.

DM has had several Tier 0 scenarios throughout its history. Bombazar was so bad, it nearly killed the game in Japan. It wasn't splashable, you had to build a deck around it, but it was THE deck.

Versus Floo? Yes, it's an instant win unless they have backrow removal in their opening hand. In general? Not really unless you're playing a zombie deck.

Kitkallos and Kaleidoheart require Aqua monsters, Rulkallos loses its protection granting effect, and Kaleidoheart will be unable to trigger off of an Aqua sending to the GY.
Zombie World always seems to be a pretty decent floodgate vs meta decks for some reason. The deck is in a really bad spot right now though.

I like max C and ash blossom because I know every deck ever will always have 6 spots reserved for it which makes making new decks easier.
