Barrier Statue removed their floodgate but they still have 3 not once per turn big tributes and the exact same resource loop/combo they threaten every single turn. That in itself makes them competitive, Maxx C advantage or not. What actually holds them back in TCG right now is Kashtira being better(especially cause they ignore Shifter) and best of 3.
Cactus Bouncer is not even close to being a staple in Rikka.

It's a shame bc pendulums could have had such an interesting design space by giving archetypes the occasional pair of pendulum monsters a la superheavy samurai or predaplant. Instead they decided to design pendulum cards with the archetype philosophy, so pendulums turned into good stuff decks that spam electrumite/beyond the pend to get to a board full of negates.
More board presence letting you more easily go into Elec or Qli or whatever. You run three copies of it for sure but aside from that I don't know what to do with Dinomists. Howling being a Trap hurts so much.

Can use chaos form (only tribute from hand or field which is rough, no blue eyes in grave to banish) and advanced ritual art with tri horned dragon. bingo machine go to search maxx. dangers and pots for draw. if you can't otk chaos maxx is easy for most decks to out unfortunately

Bystials are unironically the best Tear counters, even in decks that can Shifter (not Exosister). Tears can wait out Shifter or Maxx "C" and play on your turn. If they run Bystials or Fenrir themselves they risk bricking on mills unless they hit the jackpots (Ishizus).
Which goes back to the Ishizus, ban all the motherfrickers. Tears hitting both in one turn will bring them to under 20 cards in deck with 5 main deck Tears, meaning if Havnis triggers there's a 60% chance of hitting a name.
The deck is way weaker now than in the past but it's still moronic, and will get much stronger with Tearlaments Kashtira.
I decided to burn my mailbox pulling for Galaxy-Eyes since I crafted Photon Lord for my meme deck and didn't get any Solflares, Afterglows, and only one of the titular monster.
I will continue to use the default field.

I technically have 3 with the Blackwing and Salad structures, but only my main is ladder worthy.
I also only have 1 royal UR, a Foolish Burial I don't use. I've only ever crafted a glossy Numeron Network + Accesscode Talker.
I've also done all the achivements so there's no lifetime gems left except Level Up.
if your deck doesn't have a secret pack, then you're most likely spending every single free starter gem on that 1 deck + staples. they got rid of the bonus starter gems you used to get when the game launched

It did, but I spent 6000 gems on the secret pack and pulled 5 useless URs. I was so pissed I started buying structures instead because at least I have something playable.
It wasn't an issue of pull rates, rather selection packs had a lot of garbage, the number of new secret packs dropped, and new archetypes were rarity bumped. Branded had a secret pack within 6 months of DAMA but it took Swordsoul 1 year before it got a secret, with the Swordsoul cards getting featured in 2 selection packs. Spright hasn't had any reprint since its selection pack, the pack with Sprind only included Sprind and the non-UR/SR cards.
Cards like Magnamhut, Assault Synchron and (eventually) Kashtiratheosis and Revolution Synchron have no business as URs. But copying TCG cancer they are "chase cards" when pickings are slim.
In other words, your gems aren't going as far and Konami is being more stingy with them.
My gems are going much further because I'm not needing to dedicate resources towards all the UR staples and a dozen generic UR extra deck monsters.
New players get a bit shafted, but now they're actually adding new secret packs, and the structure decks blow the old ones out of the water.

I think there should be a lot more generic cards in the same vein as raigeki as opposed to make everything limited to some archetype

Instead they decided to design pendulum cards with the archetype philosophy, so pendulums turned into good stuff decks that spam electrumite/beyond the pend to get to a board full of negates.

Blue Eyes Chaos Maxx OTK. it's like ben kei but more fun cus you get to see Never. Piri Reis map -> normal Never -> lance code talker lancer something. Can use chaos form (only tribute from hand or field which is rough, no blue eyes in grave to banish) and advanced ritual art with tri horned dragon. bingo machine go to search maxx. dangers and pots for draw. if you can't otk chaos maxx is easy for most decks to out unfortunately

lol no its a ritual. you just need level 8s. dangers are lvl 8. tri horned dragon is a normal lvl 8 that can be used with advanced ritual art to be tributed from the deck too. chaos form uses any lvl 8 in hand or on field but you just cant use the alternative cost of banish blue eyes from grave. also realized this might not be budget for most people if they dont already have a blue eyes / chaos maxx deck, but everyone should have one anyways

Bystials are unironically the best Tear counters, even in decks that can Shifter (not Exosister). Tears can wait out Shifter or Maxx "C" and play on your turn. If they run Bystials or Fenrir themselves they risk bricking on mills unless they hit the jackpots (Ishizus).
Which goes back to the Ishizus, ban all the motherfrickers. Tears hitting both in one turn will bring them to under 20 cards in deck with 5 main deck Tears, meaning if Havnis triggers there's a 60% chance of hitting a name.
The deck is way weaker now than in the past but it's still moronic, and will get much stronger with Tearlaments Kashtira.

if your deck doesn't have a secret pack, then you're most likely spending every single free starter gem on that 1 deck + staples. they got rid of the bonus starter gems you used to get when the game launched

It wasn't an issue of pull rates, rather selection packs had a lot of garbage, the number of new secret packs dropped, and new archetypes were rarity bumped. Branded had a secret pack within 6 months of DAMA but it took Swordsoul 1 year before it got a secret, with the Swordsoul cards getting featured in 2 selection packs. Spright hasn't had any reprint since its selection pack, the pack with Sprind only included Sprind and the non-UR/SR cards.
Cards like Magnamhut, Assault Synchron and (eventually) Kashtiratheosis and Revolution Synchron have no business as URs. But copying TCG cancer they are "chase cards" when pickings are slim.
In other words, your gems aren't going as far and Konami is being more stingy with them.
My gems are going much further because I'm not needing to dedicate resources towards all the UR staples and a dozen generic UR extra deck monsters.
New players get a bit shafted, but now they're actually adding new secret packs, and the structure decks blow the old ones out of the water.
New decks have like 5 main deck URs when trizoo has none. The games pack ideology changed.
And they're easy as frick to build regardless.

I dropped shifter because at 2, it's not consistent enough to open and with kashtira existing, it's not guranteed to do much versus one top deck. Tears running Fenrir and just stopping if Shifter is dropped also make it less useful.

I've never once had a streak of going first that's larger than 3 in a row in the year+ I've been played. Double digit coin toss losses are a daily occurrence, however, They know first is broken and basically auto win, and there's 0 player agency or transparency about the "random" coin toss (unlike other clients that ALLOW YOU to choose what to pick in random contests like rock paper scissors).
