Those are just some examples. Going second, the combos can become even longer and can synchro like 6+ times.
Swordsoul needs to out Maxx and Ash in a single turn to resolve those, I've seen the combo done with Sky Striker and Galaxy Tomahawk.
It isn't an impressive endboard given the amount of jank you have to run, compred to Adamanciptors. Swordsoul has a low ceiling becuse the deck hard locks you into 8,9,10 Synchros.

They aren’t locked. And it also have Lvl 7. One of the non-commital way to do it (i.e not using Taia or normal summon ash) is get Adhara (special summon itself or through ashuna) and get the level 6 either through Eccesia, Longyuan, or Bystials
There’s also an easier Chaos Lock combo (like if Moye gets impermed and you either have ashuna or adhara already on field. You do Longyuan summon, {get adhara onboard}, make Baxia, synchro into yazi. Baxia pop Yazi for Taia and reviving Adhara. Adhara+Baxia=light locking Chaofeng, Taia makes (adhara in GY add back banished wyrm) Chixiao adds emergence for protos)

Not to mention having to do even more if they decide to update the game with newer cards. It's just not worth it for Konami. The best you can hope for is fully detailed and modeled duelist models.

Cmon now, of the 6 most popular decks using Elf, 3 of them are Spright variants, 1 is Tear (Not going to use it after this banlist), 1 is Fur Hire (Realistically a Runick Spright variant splashing Fur Hire cards), and the last one is Dinos where 38% of listed decks don't bother to include it. If your deck has a good level/link 2 then Elf is definitely good, and it could certainly be an issue in the future, but right now this card is closer to I:P than Halq.

I'm partial to Metal Raiders and Invasion of Chaos, but more so for Metal Raiders, since it has a LOT of cards I like.

Metal Raiders has Gate Guardians instead of Dark Magician (forma de bdsm), it is inherently cooler.

They're typically better since some of them come from newer sets. Disposable Learning Device has come in clutch for me more than once.

Since the reprint cards are dirt cheap, ranging from 4 to 10 cents a card, I'm getting 1 or 2 of each common card from all the reprint sets (including LOB and Dark Crisis). Just this alone turns out to be below 50 USD by math.
Then I'll get some other rares and whatnot depending on how much I want them.
We're not really interested in modern stuff.
We tried structure decks of old archetypes (Blue-Eyes, Dark World), and we didn't really have fun.
Just spent a lot of time reading.

I like the ScR but in a way I like the way the TCG is always set at 3 UR and complete set rarity without any incentive to buy more to get higher foil ones.
The way the OCG does it reminds me of Weiss Schwarz's Trial Decks, which are irritating to get the fancier cards in but people buy whole boxes of them because of it.

the moment you get isekai'd to a different universe the narrative instantly switches to fit you in whatever archetype you would fit best in the aforementioned universe, it's like this is your first isekai scenario
if you really want to beat someone like Jaden or Yuma (not a chance in hell you're beating Yugi), you would have to play the long game, either pull off something similar to the Seal of Orichalcos in the OG series or become their rival a la Kaiser/Kaito, in which case you would have to stick to some deck for eternity and make sub-optimal plays for the sake of showing off (like Kaiser dropping his entire deck into the gy with Power Wall and winning with the last card left on this deck, or the 16k Power Bonded Cyber Dragon that he pulled off against Yubel).

DM era might be tough just because some cards have insane effects or Ra being able to kill you IRL even if you don't lose the duel, but GX era would be a fricking cakewalk. There's like 1 competent deck in that entire series and 2 seasons in the pilot swaps it out for a worse version. Imagine pulling up against a guy running 6 normal monsters and fricking bubble blaster unironically and you're on D-Link or Branded. Zexal era guys straight up cheat, never seen Arc-V, but VRAINS could be tough because Revolver is actually a decent duelist playing a competent strategy.

I was able to play though a Witchcrafter deck that resolved Grass. It was tight but I did it. That should show how much lesser strategies like Witchcrafter, Skull Servants or Zombies really need it.
The biggest issue with Grass is Snow, I would rather see MD ban Snow but leave Grass untouched.
Psi-Frames aren't good for a reason. Chances are they'll brick on Driver, and Gamma/Overload are their only really good main deck cards. Keeping them off their field spell also means they can't synchro during your turn, which effectively means they can't put monsters on the field. Remember that no main deck Psi-Frames can be summoned without using their effects, and Driver has to be tribute summoned. If you're playing dark you're probably going to want to main S/T removal just because of Runick, Exosisters, and Inspector Boarder anyway. After that just run them out of Drivers and you automatically win.

Apollousa permanently dies to a single imperm, as does Borreload Savage when it's summoned.
Neither card destroys, only negates. You can extend past them.
They are both harder to summon that Baronne, who also has a pop and float effect once her negate is burned up.
If Adamancipators had options, they would do better than Borreload/Appo. Hence why they were going for Ra'Ten/Pachy locks.

Yeah, a lot of generic ED boss monsters are a problem, design wise, but you can either ban 1 card or 5, and Block would've still been broken without those other cards.

Pokemon is legitimately lazy but making 3D models is hard, and has only gotten harder as graphics have improved. It's one thing to make a model that has 500 triangles, but the average modern 3D model has like 10,000. There's that old joke about 2B's ass having more polygons than all of Super Mario 64 put together but that's literally true. Workflows and toolsets have gotten better but Yugioh just has too many cards to reasonably have a 3D model for each one. You'd need a literal army of 3D modellers, not to mention all the computing power just to host the copies of Blender or whatever to develop this. And Yugioh cards are complicated, imagine being the guy who has to model Lord of the Heavenly Prison or Psychic End Punisher. Master Duel style Live2D animations are probably the closest we're gonna get and even that is only because it's a very efficient way to essentially repurpose already existing drawings.

I think they should've gone harder on certain cards, like banning Diablosis and other FTK enablers alongside hits to Bystials and Naturia, but this is hardly a bad banlist. If they keep this up and really dial back the power level of POTE archetypes, including further Kashtira hits in the future, then the next format has a chance at being really fun with decks like R-Ace, Vanquish Soul, Gold Pride, and Synchron variants. They'll have to hit SHS and Purrly, but that'll come in time.
I'm coping hard that we'll keep getting cleanup lists like this leading up to a Maxx C ban. And I think if it's going to happen anywhere it's going to be in MD because it's basically implied that MD is a testground for OCG bans.

Teching against Tears meant running hyper specific counters that only frick over Tears. Teching against Kash just means adding more spell/traps since Kash monsters only counter monster effects. They can all also be beat over.

OCG showed that Tears are still playable with turbo mill strategies like Chaos Ruler and Zombie Vampire. As long as the main deck Tears exist, you can still fuse 3 times a turn, you just have less control over what you fuse into.
The only reason TCG didn't keep playing Tears after bans was Kashtira, a deck that hard counters Tear, was at full power at the time (along with Dimension Shifter at 3).

Anyone knows of a good archetype to mix with Mekk Knights for the event? I'm not using the Extra Deck at all, so I was thinking maybe Dogmatika, but I've never played them, so I'm not sure if the can splash into anything just like that.
Dogmatika is good with mekk-knights, especially in a light-only event, just be aware that they lock you from the extra deck frequently. If you have Nadir and N'tss it's pretty decent going second. Even running a small dogmatika package can be worth it for Punishment+Fleur.
Aight. Mekk Knights are born naturally as a going second deck, so it's probably gonna fit fine. Do you happen to have a list of what cards should I use? I know absolutely nothing about Dogmatika.
The standard "package" is usually 3 Ecclesia, 1-2 Fleur, 0-1 Maximus, 1-2 copies of Punishment, and as many copies of Nadir Servant that are legal, then you add stuff to your ED that wants to be sent to the graveyard, like Herald and N'tss. Light doesn't really have much beyond N'tss, Herald, and Omega though but that can work, especially with Omega recycling cards. You can also opt to play the Dogmatika ritual cards as well, since Zoa is a tank and Dogmatikamatrix sets up columns and has bonus effects if your opponent has a monster on field. For that the ratios are 1x Zoa, 1x White Relic, 3x Matrix, 1x Dogmatikalamity, 1x Dogmatikamacabre. I've also seen people play 3x The Light Hex Sealed Fusion since you can use it's on field effect+Ecclesia to make Invoked Mechaba. Like you're playing the most janky possible version of Invoked Dogmatika.
Just remember that Nadir and Ecclesia's on-summon effect lock you from the extra deck, but Ecclesia is a free summon if you've got ED monsters on field. So just do your normal plays first, then go for Dogmatika stuff.
Bystial engine involves Lubellion, if you're just using as hand traps you don't need that though. Kashtira is just a couple Fenrirs to summon (for free) on your empty board to threaten a response if they try negating or interrupting your coombo.
Yeah that's pretty good. Decks that are particularly weak to meta graveyard strategies can also consider running 3x Baldrake in addition, since it has a useful on field banish effect when combined with other Bystials. Fenrir is used as a generic body that can replace itself going first, or an immediate threat that can trade for a monster going second.
Lets you get two of the vanilla into the grave instead of just one. Banish fodder for chaos, mats for thundra fusion, two activations of Titan. There are probably more reasons that I'm just not thinking of right now. Unless you want discard fodder there's no reason to add 2 at once instead of one at a time.

Because the best version of the deck is Spright Twins which replies too much on Scythe making it suck with how everyone is on Bystials. Spright Pure/Runick builds have also just been better in general.

Red Reboot is your best choice, Lab doesn't really run Solemn Judgement. Other than that, backrow removal and Evenly Matched. Just a fair warning, EEV might become more popular now that Tears got severely hit with the banlist so they're not afraid of popping spells or traps anymore.

I wouldn't recommend to copy it, it's obviously incomplete and I'm not sure if it will be decent enough, also I might change the third Cartesia for Fusion Deployement just so I can save me some UR dust. I believe there was another anon with a different decklist but not sure if he's around.
The only thing I don't like about this banlist is that Tearlaments Kashtira will release and boost the deck back a good bit and then we won't get another banlist that hits Tear in a long time.

It isn't an impressive endboard given the amount of jank you have to run, compred to Adamanciptors. Swordsoul has a low ceiling becuse the deck hard locks you into 8,9,10 Synchros.
They aren’t locked. And it also have Lvl 7. One of the non-commital way to do it (i.e not using Taia or normal summon ash) is get Adhara (special summon itself or through ashuna) and get the level 6 either through Eccesia, Longyuan, or Bystials
There’s also an easier Chaos Lock combo (like if Moye gets impermed and you either have ashuna or adhara already on field. You do Longyuan summon, {get adhara onboard}, make Baxia, synchro into yazi. Baxia pop Yazi for Taia and reviving Adhara. Adhara+Baxia=light locking Chaofeng, Taia makes (adhara in GY add back banished wyrm) Chixiao adds emergence for protos)

Real shit though the SMT/Persona series re-used Nocturne models for like a decade before P5 just because having around 250 unique demon models was hard for one of the biggest JRPG franchises. No fricking way we get 3D models for every card, or even an extremely limited card pool.

Cmon now, of the 6 most popular decks using Elf, 3 of them are Spright variants, 1 is Tear (Not going to use it after this banlist), 1 is Fur Hire (Realistically a Runick Spright variant splashing Fur Hire cards), and the last one is Dinos where 38% of listed decks don't bother to include it. If your deck has a good level/link 2 then Elf is definitely good, and it could certainly be an issue in the future, but right now this card is closer to I:P than Halq.

Since the reprint cards are dirt cheap, ranging from 4 to 10 cents a card, I'm getting 1 or 2 of each common card from all the reprint sets (including LOB and Dark Crisis). Just this alone turns out to be below 50 USD by math.

I'm also fairly sure that a bunch have a bunch of banish specific shit, so if you were to play something like Tearlament you would suddenly see them play Soul Demolition or a quick-play Soul Release. By the rules of narrative, you would lose merely because of being an arrogant POS, a duelist with a shit deck but really commited to it (like Ally of Justice or Gusto) would have better chances beating Jaden or Yuma than you.

if you really want to beat someone like Jaden or Yuma (not a chance in hell you're beating Yugi), you would have to play the long game, either pull off something similar to the Seal of Orichalcos in the OG series or become their rival a la Kaiser/Kaito, in which case you would have to stick to some deck for eternity and make sub-optimal plays for the sake of showing off (like Kaiser dropping his entire deck into the gy with Power Wall and winning with the last card left on this deck, or the 16k Power Bonded Cyber Dragon that he pulled off against Yubel).

I was able to play though a Witchcrafter deck that resolved Grass. It was tight but I did it. That should show how much lesser strategies like Witchcrafter, Skull Servants or Zombies really need it.
The biggest issue with Grass is Snow, I would rather see MD ban Snow but leave Grass untouched.

Psi-Frames aren't good for a reason. Chances are they'll brick on Driver, and Gamma/Overload are their only really good main deck cards. Keeping them off their field spell also means they can't synchro during your turn, which effectively means they can't put monsters on the field. Remember that no main deck Psi-Frames can be summoned without using their effects, and Driver has to be tribute summoned. If you're playing dark you're probably going to want to main S/T removal just because of Runick, Exosisters, and Inspector Boarder anyway. After that just run them out of Drivers and you automatically win.

At least dragon decks still summon dragons like Borrelend, Savage dragon and Archfiend abyss

Apollousa permanently dies to a single imperm, as does Borreload Savage when it's summoned.
Neither card destroys, only negates. You can extend past them.
They are both harder to summon that Baronne, who also has a pop and float effect once her negate is burned up.
If Adamancipators had options, they would do better than Borreload/Appo. Hence why they were going for Ra'Ten/Pachy locks.
Apollousa and Borreload are fine.
Baronne is bullshit but not even the best Level 10, that's Chengying. If you resolve Evenly against Adamancipators they hold on to Chengying even above Block Dragon.

But block dragon is the only way Adamancipators can get enough material to reliably access those cards. It's absurd that one card can represent 3 searches when used as link/Synchro material, summons itself back basically as many times as you want, has a protection effect, and can be searched from a generic rank 4. Yeah, a lot of generic ED boss monsters are a problem, design wise, but you can either ban 1 card or 5, and Block would've still been broken without those other cards.
Pokemon is legitimately lazy but making 3D models is hard, and has only gotten harder as graphics have improved. It's one thing to make a model that has 500 triangles, but the average modern 3D model has like 10,000. There's that old joke about 2B's ass having more polygons than all of Super Mario 64 put together but that's literally true. Workflows and toolsets have gotten better but Yugioh just has too many cards to reasonably have a 3D model for each one. You'd need a literal army of 3D modellers, not to mention all the computing power just to host the copies of Blender or whatever to develop this. And Yugioh cards are complicated, imagine being the guy who has to model Lord of the Heavenly Prison or Psychic End Punisher. Master Duel style Live2D animations are probably the closest we're gonna get and even that is only because it's a very efficient way to essentially repurpose already existing drawings.

I think they should've gone harder on certain cards, like banning Diablosis and other FTK enablers alongside hits to Bystials and Naturia, but this is hardly a bad banlist. If they keep this up and really dial back the power level of POTE archetypes, including further Kashtira hits in the future, then the next format has a chance at being really fun with decks like R-Ace, Vanquish Soul, Gold Pride, and Synchron variants. They'll have to hit SHS and Purrly, but that'll come in time.
I'm coping hard that we'll keep getting cleanup lists like this leading up to a Maxx C ban. And I think if it's going to happen anywhere it's going to be in MD because it's basically implied that MD is a testground for OCG bans.

OCG showed that Tears are still playable with turbo mill strategies like Chaos Ruler and Zombie Vampire. As long as the main deck Tears exist, you can still fuse 3 times a turn, you just have less control over what you fuse into.
The only reason TCG didn't keep playing Tears after bans was Kashtira, a deck that hard counters Tear, was at full power at the time (along with Dimension Shifter at 3).
OCG will jump through hoops to mill. We haven’t gotten to the point they’re resorted to playing Needlebug Nest or Reasoning in Tear decks.

Anyone knows of a good archetype to mix with Mekk Knights for the event? I'm not using the Extra Deck at all, so I was thinking maybe Dogmatika, but I've never played them, so I'm not sure if the can splash into anything just like that.
Dogmatika is good with mekk-knights, especially in a light-only event, just be aware that they lock you from the extra deck frequently. If you have Nadir and N'tss it's pretty decent going second. Even running a small dogmatika package can be worth it for Punishment+Fleur.
Aight. Mekk Knights are born naturally as a going second deck, so it's probably gonna fit fine. Do you happen to have a list of what cards should I use? I know absolutely nothing about Dogmatika.
The standard "package" is usually 3 Ecclesia, 1-2 Fleur, 0-1 Maximus, 1-2 copies of Punishment, and as many copies of Nadir Servant that are legal, then you add stuff to your ED that wants to be sent to the graveyard, like Herald and N'tss. Light doesn't really have much beyond N'tss, Herald, and Omega though but that can work, especially with Omega recycling cards. You can also opt to play the Dogmatika ritual cards as well, since Zoa is a tank and Dogmatikamatrix sets up columns and has bonus effects if your opponent has a monster on field. For that the ratios are 1x Zoa, 1x White Relic, 3x Matrix, 1x Dogmatikalamity, 1x Dogmatikamacabre. I've also seen people play 3x The Light Hex Sealed Fusion since you can use it's on field effect+Ecclesia to make Invoked Mechaba. Like you're playing the most janky possible version of Invoked Dogmatika.
Just remember that Nadir and Ecclesia's on-summon effect lock you from the extra deck, but Ecclesia is a free summon if you've got ED monsters on field. So just do your normal plays first, then go for Dogmatika stuff.

Bystial engine involves Lubellion, if you're just using as hand traps you don't need that though. Kashtira is just a couple Fenrirs to summon (for free) on your empty board to threaten a response if they try negating or interrupting your coombo.
Yeah that's pretty good. Decks that are particularly weak to meta graveyard strategies can also consider running 3x Baldrake in addition, since it has a useful on field banish effect when combined with other Bystials. Fenrir is used as a generic body that can replace itself going first, or an immediate threat that can trade for a monster going second.
you shouldn't play both in the same deck since bystials clog up your board and kash needs empty opens
