I don't agree, while I am not a new player (I quit during Majespecter format) the solo modes taught me Link Summoning and gave good intros on those archetypes.

Yugioh has like a reverse bell curve, where it seems complicated at first, until you play for a little bit, then you realize it's not that complicated, before you realize how deep Yugioh actually is. Honestly, all new players need is a good deck to start with and the willingness to experience loss, and learn from it. It is, but certain cards and archetypes can shift the meta to far in a direction that makes it unfun.
That's one of the problems that hurts MD. A lot of other digital card game clients give you pretty fricking strong starter decks and let taste different styles for free for at least some time while you build up your own card pool. MD just gives you some shitty fricking Blue Eyes/Cyberse/whatever starter deck with the most useless shit imaginable.
MD gives you the resources to make a strong starter deck quickly, the problem is that like you said a newbie is stuck with a worthless starter and a 12000 card pool with no idea what to build. I guess selection packs help guide them but otherwise unless you have some type of advice in your ear the secret pack system makes finding what archetype to play way fricking harder than it needs to be.
A list of archetypes in game and a brief description of what their identity is would legitimately go a huge way in helping new players. Sort of like what tutorials are for solo mode gates but obviously much smaller.

Merrli is a pretty smart hit, this is the only main deck Tear banned in any format, and she has all the good properties that make her abusable with the Spright cards.

This is a moronic mindset just like when they kept banning tuners instead of Halq or hitting around Firewall. All you do is shift the problem into the future, because Kit/Elf/Sprind are ALWAYS going to be problems as long as the other mermaids are legal and there are good level 2 monsters in the game.
Tears really don't want their main deck cards hit though. Now random mills are not a viable way to trigger Tear effects, meaning Scheiren/Havnis are less impactful while Reinohart and Kitkallos become hard chokepoints.
For comparison, even if Kit was banned, KashTear would still be very strong as they can could still turbo mill with Tearlaments Kashtira/Helshaddoll Hollow. That isn't viable anymore.
These hits basically guarantee Kashtira will be the top deck once 2nd wave comes out

How do you guys feel about solo mode, I've always thought it was alright and saw the loaner decks as fun challenges, but recently I saw a video about how people hated it and view it as boring. The video suggested that they should add the anime to solo mode and should build gates around characters decks, but personally I couldn't disagree more. If anything they should double down on creating gates around card lore, but they should actually expand on in a meaningful way. Master Duel seems like the best way to actually present stuff like Fallen of Albaz, Visas, Duel Terminal Lore in an interesting way without building an entire manga or game around it, but the way Solo mode is currently it'd never do those cards justice. What do you guys think how'd you improve solo mode. More SP Challenges too actually.
Feel like one of the devs is a Red Eyes Lover cause whenever you face that deck your cards are ass to compensate for how shit that archetype is. Also who ever did the SP Challenges, frick you. It's fricked that you made us play Boomer Yugioh while the CPU gets to run modern decks.
I like messing around with cards and whomping the CPU so I play it a lot, it could be better but I'll take it as it is, my one hope would be a build a deck for the CPU.
It really depends on how good the lore is and how original the gameplay is.
Dream Mirror/Vandread were fun as frick solos to play and read, and Vandread's final stage was a reasonable challenge.
I also liked Plunder, Danger, and Myutants.
Ally of Justice was boring to read and play. Easily the worst one they made.

SwoSwo is hardly relevant right now and if they perform well it's specifically because the Dark lock is good when you can assume you're facing Tear. But even when they were among the best decks the amount of times people actually put Protoss on the endboard was small. Unless they were on Halqshit every SwoSwo player was just Chixiao+Baronne+Blackout pass.

Unless you are on Lab nu-Zeus sucks. It locks you from summoning anything else in the turn, which means non-backrow decks want to do it at the end of the turn, but also breaks boards which means you want to do it at the start of the turn.

The floodgate effect is way stronger than the removal because it also blocks hand and GY effects like Nibiru, Imsety and Chaos Ruler. Ideally, you run a deck that summons a 3000 Attack monster and turn it into nu Zeus, with your real bosses being 2900 or less.
While Swordsoul can't make it consistently, they can play under it consistently with their best advantage line (making Evil LY first, then summoning Chixiao).

Well you kind of answered your own question here. You need handtraps to even stop Bish. Exodia is so inconsistent you don't even need to try to stop them.
Exodia is highly RNG reliant and considered iconic anyway.
Bish FTKs use the ED and can abuse combo engine to do it much easier than something stupid like Magical Library Exodia in 2023.

You don't need to hard open Wok, there's also Trap Trick and Destruct Potion. ZS Sage can be searched with Summoner Monk and Utopic Force can be hard opened. If all else fails there's reload.
The FTK isn't as fragile as you think, the only consistent way to beat it is Imperm on Numeron Dragon or Dragonar in DP. Ash isn't a guaranteed stop at all.

Macro doesn't care if cards are on the field though. I know xyz materials don't go from the field to the grave because they're not considered on the field, but Macro is supposed to be anything from anywhere gets banished.
Maybe it happens under Macro but I have specifically seen xyz materials not get banished before in MD. Maybe under Dimensional Fissure? But why would they not get banished in that case, since that card also doesn't care about the field.
Dimensional Fissure says monsters are sent to the banished zone but while attached they are not considered monsters until they are detached which is after they’ve been sent to the GY.
Yet there are multiple xyz like Pinguicula that interact with the types on monsters under them or Drytron who can use the attack of attached monsters, what a weird ruling.
I highly doubt Kit is being protected due to rarity. I think the whole reason she wasn't a UR in the first place is so that banning her is an option.
But Konami now have some fricking vendetta against the players where they have to PROVE that some cards banned in TCG/OCG can stay legal.

Cooclock is better largely because what makes Lab good is the ability to search the traps you need. And it mostly searches by setting to the field which is what Cooclock allows you to activate. Arias requires you to have a trap in hand.

Merrli is a pretty smart hit, this is the only main deck Tear banned in any format, and she has all the good properties that make her abusable with the Spright cards.
I guess if you don't want to hit Kit, Elf or Sprind, this is the way to go.
It feels like one of the main reasons she is banned is because spright engine is so easy to use and not how overloaded tearlaments is.

This is a moronic mindset just like when they kept banning tuners instead of Halq or hitting around Firewall. All you do is shift the problem into the future, because Kit/Elf/Sprind are ALWAYS going to be problems as long as the other mermaids are legal and there are good level 2 monsters in the game.
Tears really don't want their main deck cards hit though. Now random mills are not a viable way to trigger Tear effects, meaning Scheiren/Havnis are less impactful while Reinohart and Kitkallos become hard chokepoints.
For comparison, even if Kit was banned, KashTear would still be very strong as they can could still turbo mill with Tearlaments Kashtira/Helshaddoll Hollow. That isn't viable anymore.
These hits basically guarantee Kashtira will be the top deck once 2nd wave comes out

How do you guys feel about solo mode, I've always thought it was alright and saw the loaner decks as fun challenges, but recently I saw a video about how people hated it and view it as boring. The video suggested that they should add the anime to solo mode and should build gates around characters decks, but personally I couldn't disagree more. If anything they should double down on creating gates around card lore, but they should actually expand on in a meaningful way. Master Duel seems like the best way to actually present stuff like Fallen of Albaz, Visas, Duel Terminal Lore in an interesting way without building an entire manga or game around it, but the way Solo mode is currently it'd never do those cards justice. What do you guys think how'd you improve solo mode. More SP Challenges too actually.

The floodgate effect is way stronger than the removal because it also blocks hand and GY effects like Nibiru, Imsety and Chaos Ruler. Ideally, you run a deck that summons a 3000 Attack monster and turn it into nu Zeus, with your real bosses being 2900 or less.
While Swordsoul can't make it consistently, they can play under it consistently with their best advantage line (making Evil LY first, then summoning Chixiao).

You don't need to hard open Wok, there's also Trap Trick and Destruct Potion. ZS Sage can be searched with Summoner Monk and Utopic Force can be hard opened. If all else fails there's reload.
The FTK isn't as fragile as you think, the only consistent way to beat it is Imperm on Numeron Dragon or Dragonar in DP. Ash isn't a guaranteed stop at all.

Maybe it happens under Macro but I have specifically seen xyz materials not get banished before in MD. Maybe under Dimensional Fissure? But why would they not get banished in that case, since that card also doesn't care about the field.
Dimensional Fissure says monsters are sent to the banished zone but while attached they are not considered monsters until they are detached which is after they’ve been sent to the GY.
Yet there are multiple xyz like Pinguicula that interact with the types on monsters under them or Drytron who can use the attack of attached monsters, what a weird ruling.
Xyz Materials aren't even on the field technically.
D fissure doesn't care if it's sent from the field. The thing is XYZ materials don't count as monsters

Why is Arias not played while Cooclock is? She seems a lot easier to use and lacks a condition for her immediate activation set effect.
She gets played some in the OCG where she's released. Not as much as Cooclock though.
Cooclock is better largely because what makes Lab good is the ability to search the traps you need. And it mostly searches by setting to the field which is what Cooclock allows you to activate. Arias requires you to have a trap in hand.
