I've built a deck with enough interruption to avoid it going first, and it can also do well going second if my opponent passes hoping to OTK on turn 3. I don't actually know how gimped people are going to be since I think a lot of the strong spells/traps are still legal, even if the monster pool is limited.

Swordsoul Tenyi is actually good at breaking boards with engine cards, and have plenty of room for non-engine board breakers too.
mathmech and swordsoul are very simlar and both can do what you want and can go first or second, i'd lean toward mathmech more this format more stronger due to cyberse synergy and the bullshit cards they have.
Mathmech does require a lot of setups to get to a protected Accesscode though, which means the opponents knows exactly what to wait for to screw you over instead of being forced to respond

you make your opponent's shit small with happiness rank 2. you then make that small shit immune to battle with delicious memory spell. then the happy memory spell gives your rank 2 a bazillion attacks. delicious boosts its atk power. so basically you get to swing into the equivalent of atk position spirit reaper 50 times.
Noir can get huge but beyond that their monsters can reduce opponent's monster attacks and attack multiple times, so you can end up with a 7-material Happiness that's reduced your boss monster to 372 attack and is hitting you 5 times. And if that doesn't kill you, the 4-activation Zeus with 5 cards in hand will at least stop you.

TCG increases the rarity of several cards (just look at V.S.) and shortprints them, it also has the nerve of censoring cards to then resell them as "Lost Art". For a reason people won't even bother on buying packs.
TCG will raise rarity on cards they know you need, they short print a lot and a lot of stores will open their products to sell the singles of those said cards for ridiculous profit, the TCG is literally a massive scam meant to frick you over for daring to want to play their game
I find it alien with how physical yugioh is pretty much a hobby for people with a lot of money to burn. I used to attend my locals until the store closed due to shit sales during dragon ruler format, in the OCG you can pretty much buy anything pretty cheap, rarity upgrades are usually the costly endeavors
that's how it should be, you should be paying for rarity and style not just to build your deck staples. TCG constantly took shit out of structure decks before releasing them just to make sure you didn't have easy ways to get ahold of their secret rare chase cards, they're so unapologetic about it

No, card packs are basically prototype lootboxes IRL, but it's better because in theory you can just buy stuff directly from other people. And in practice, buying singles is always going to be cheaper and easier than buying packs. It's basic economics right? If buying packs was cheaper than singles, people would just buy packs until the prices of singles dropped to below profitable levels. That said, it's just the nature of a trading card game, I don't really begrudge it outside of the fact that the game is way more expensive than it should be. Seriously try to build any TCG deck and you're looking at $80+ minimum even for really cheap pet decks. Meanwhile Master Duel is literally free.
A lot of the sets Konami releases just aren't good and since Yugioh doesn't really have limited or draft play there's no reason for people to buy a box unless they specifically like opening packs. But even if you're a huge card collector half the sets are pretty skippable. For example, the most recent set outside of the megatins, Legendary Duelist Soulburner, is mostly reprints of cards that are dirt cheap, and a few new Salamangreat cards that aren't better than update jammer+Accesscode so they're worthless. Why would anyone buy that? But at the same time, stores can't choose not to buy certain sets from distributors, or those distributors won't cut them in on the next round of actual good product.

Why are field spells nowadays only one-sided?
They used to be applied equally to both players, but now some of the effects can only be used by its owner.
Powercreep and design philosophy change. Its why cards like mirror force used to be so good they were banned but now absolutely useless.
You got fieled spells like the Valiants or the Kash and Tears ones that work to screw up the other player. Having an effect that helps the other guy is moronic
because back in the day when they weren't one-sided they were hot garbage. reciprocal field spells also make mirrors aggravating. see dragonic diagram.

Field spells aren't the most easy thing to interact with. You NEED a destruction effect because even if you ash it or something it stays on the field
Two sided field spells end up being very obnoxious if they're anything more than "all water monsters gain 500 attack" because it's something that benefits the using player and hurts the opposing player and just stays on the board forever
See Perelreino as an example where they have a 2 sided field spell made with modern design philosophy. It hurting the opposing player on top of everything else it does just adds an extra layer of annoyance that no one enjoys

sure. gozen is really good this format debatably even more so than skill drain. the psy frame package can be interchanged with either a pair of nibs or a pair of kaijus and a 3rd imperm i just find psy very satisfying. the good thing about nib, kaijus or psy for lab is even if you draw them turn 1 you can still use them as discard fodder for furniture. some people cut EEV but i still think its very good this meta and when i did try cutting it i immediately regretted it for certain matchups
Yeah, almost the same traps as me except for Underroot, and I haven't added Gozen Match to my deck yet, only Skill Drain. I also preferred keeping two Cooclock and two Fenrir instead of Gamma, I'm just sick of opening Driver even if it can be used for discard fodder. I also tried Kaijus but they rarely came to play and constantly bricked my hand, so I got rid of them. I guess I shouldn't have trouble getting to M1 myself, but after I got there last month I just don't feel like climbing anymore.
Beginning of season I ran 2 cooclock but quickly realized how less prevalent gy hate is in general and while it still sucks getting my 1 cooclock banished it rarely comes up enough to warrant another copy for me. And Kaijus can definitely be bricky but I still think psy is amazing with lab

one of the best feelings in lab is when they ash an extrav when you have psy. then going into omega leaving them with only 3 cards against your full extrav hand. a majority of players scoop then and there when i summon omega.

It's not actually a Ritual deck, it's just Sphreez/Amazoness Swordswoman Turbo. If they do summon Oohime it's by cheating her out with one of the equips.
You do summon the ritual monster, just not every game. Also you can run it as an engine for a quick effect snatch steal with 3x Oohime, 1-2x Ceremony, and 1x Reflection Rondo. It's better in decks that want to discard or in Ritual decks as a secondary Preparation of Rites target.
ohime has many utility both in hand (IoC-esque) or after summoned (her quick effect to equip from gy on both turn; leading to extension on your turn or stealing your opp monster using reflection rondo on opp turn).
a body that doesnt need normal summon is also nice if you play lava golem or armory hole

anon, you can always just play lab and only worry about ultras in main.
Theoretically any deck that doesn't lock you into anything on your opponent's turn can fit in a Dinomorphia package. If your endboard is scared of Droplet/Dark Ruler or backrow removal then a Skill Drain on legs is an option. Also it's something to end on if they Maxx C you as you are only ever summoning on your opponent's turn.

Modern @ignister likes to go for a lower ceiling on The Arrival Cyberse so they can go for Mathmech plays as well. Having a big unaffected guy that does nothing doesn't win games, especially not in Purrely format with everyone running Kaijus. But even before that, people would just run Goddess to out unaffected monsters. But it really can't be overstated how much better a 4k Arrival backed up by even just a single Superfactorial is than a 6k Arrival.
