I was trying it out since I had the cards and it's not bad, better than regular and all it is is 4 cards replaced since I wasn't using the ED anyway apart from a small Zeus package.
Actually doing a hybrid deck is probably not the best idea, but Nadir is incredible since it's a starter, and board breaker that goes +3. Not a must-have but definitely worth considering.

You have dozens of options if you want to be near-meta. Fully off meta you'll probably be fine since your opponents are largely illiterate and won't know your strategies until they see them.

Well there's the one in Vadis, the one in Returnia, and the one in Carpedivem. The Carpedivem one looks very similar to the Vadis one but I think they have a chance of being different.
I figured that was the case with Martha at least to an extent. She's still sworn to Elly even though she moved on and formed a new bond with Stella, and she has the ability to transform when her allies interact with the GY rather than just when her enemies do it.

Evols were decent in the very early stages of the XYZ era. They can special summon from the deck and actually have meat on their bosse, compred to Wind-Ups.

they were a fun beatdown deck on a casual level. guaiba, herra, dino, and velo formed a decent core. guaiba saw play in dinorabbit while the various tuners (mostly aeolo) saw play in tkyzdinos so they weren't all useless.
But they continue to hit the Tear cards in the OCG, Tear has been able to integrate every generic engine to stay a Tier 1 deck.
The only thing keeping Rescue Ace on top is they too can use Diabellstar, just better than Tears.
If Kash main deck wasn't murdered, it could go back to Tomahawk turbo since it easily integrates diabellstar or adventure engine

Druiswurm is individually superior obviously, but Saronir is a different name, so simply having it over x2 Druiswurm means another disruption or extender. And Saronir can chain block if sent from the hand or deck to GY even if the dump is something meaningless like sending Magnamhut.

Baldrake is also limited in the OCG. It's actually the strongest Bystial, but it needs to combo to resolve its effect propely.
Saronir seems bad if you are only running the Bystials as handtraps. It's functionally vanilla because using its effect leads to meaninglessly dumping another Bystial you'd rather have in hand or the option ot drawing into later.
But just the ability to create chains makes it unexpectedly useful. It's also situationaly useful for dodging shit like Colossus or Droll
Is it? I saw it commonly just left out of decks running the other Bystials. I thought it was strong when it was revealed only to never see it used outside of dedicated Bystial packages/decks.
Saronir meanwhile was shit on when the first trio came out and was 1/3rd the price of Druiswurm and 1/8th the price of Magna, but seems more widely used now.
Sidenote, Saronir is by far the ugliest Bystial, not in a bad way since he's supposed to be an evil, monstrous being, but damn he looks like some fricked up lion-bear demon with dragon wings
Unless you really want darks in your GY for some reason then Saronir is only good with a bigger Bystial/Branded package.
Baldrake is just better for the majority of decks since he's an extra interruption. Baldrake came out a lot later than most Bystials in TCG so he never had a chance to shine there since the meta had moved on, but in OCG and MD he was/is very good.
Isn't Bystial Lubellion still very widely used? I figured that would have given him a chance. The banish seems good, I guess that guy who was telling me it was shit was wrong. I use a set of 3 Baldrake sometimes irl simply because they were so cheap they were essentially free compared to the other Bystials (now thanks to the tins though I have Magnamhut and Saronir though).

Yes, he's good, but not every deck wants to run him. He needs you to run Regained/Beast to actually do anything noteworthy, and drawing him sucks for the average deck because all that does is let you summon a Bystial on your turn.
If you want Bystials purely as hand traps in a random deck with no special synergy with them then there's no point, and you'll just be mad that you drew Lubellion going second instead of one that could actually interrupt your opponent.
Even if you're running a non-light/dark deck, you'd rather have 1 Magna, 1 Druis, 3 Baldrake over 1 Magna, 1 Druis, 3 Saronir, because at least sometimes Baldrake will have another Bystial to tribute for its effect.

Magnamhut and Druiswurm are way better as handtraps than Baldrake, who mandates you open 2 Bystials. Druiswurm punishes most removal options and can immediately become a chainblocking threat on your turn.
Magnamhut grabs you any other Bystial after accomplishing its Crow effect which means it can do an absolutely insane amount on your turn 2 if you grab something like Druiswurm

Opening Druiswurm and Baldrake against most Light/Dark decks is basically an FTK. Even against Branded, >resolve Branded Fusion >send Albaz and Lubellion, summon Albion >banish both Albaz and Lubellion to summon Druiswurm and Baldake >Albion forced to summon Dragostapelia >activate Baldrake, tribute Druiswurm, target Dragostapelia >Dragostapelia negates Baldrake, Druiswurm kills it >Or Called by the Grave target Druiswurm, leaving Baldrake and Dragostapelia to stare at each other
Those two cards together are anywhere from 3 to 4 interruptions. Baldrake is a legitimate combo card but once it goes off it's nuts.

albion (he should've played it earlier to check ash),

there's also option where they don't have any dark. so it's really hard to pinpoint that they need to make stapelia

I am only running 4 Bystials (Magna, Druid, Bald and Saronir) and no other support cards. They are purely as handtraps and to stop the likes of Accesscode Talker trying to OTK through Maxx.
Having 4 different names is helpful because some decks like Swordsoul will keep dumping Tenyis until they can resolve Vishuda, and since the Bystials are hard OPTs you can't summon the same name in the same turn if it gets bounced.
Just being a 4th name is a big benefit.

Speaking of which, for everything else people complain about Duel Links, man the client just sucks. In MD the loading screens can be a bit annoying, but I'll open the game just to add one card I thought of to my deck then close it. In Duel Links I see that I have missions complete and don't want to claim them because changing screens will take to long, then I'll see I need to do a mission to play 2 spells in one turn and I won't want to add spells to my deck because navigating the UI is a pain in the ass.
Traps just have really strong effects in general, but needing to set them first is what kills them. That doesn't matter if you're guaranteed to go first. Solemns > Ash Just don't get Maxx C'd.

If you look at Runick in a vacuum, you can see what Konami intended. It's suppoed to be a floodgate/deck out strategy with no way to do damage directly, and relies on "interaction". The fact that the Runick monsters have to be summoned to EMZ is what keeps it from being another Link spam deck.
The designers never intended for it to be used as a draw engine for combo. I don't think the teams that developed Spright + Tears was the same who came up with Runick.
A better question is what the frick they were smoking with Purrely, I guess Purrely fair because kaijus?

Master Duel isn't great at building experience with a deck and that can induce misplay. Too many games you brick, lose toss and get blown out, get FTK'd, or play some weird deck you don't know how to play optimally against.
I lost a duel against Mikanko because I was up against the timer, and didn't realize that I had negated Hu-Li with Called the previous turn, allowing me to attack for game. I was too hyper focused on Accesscode Talker to clear all equips.
I've also been playing my deck for 3+ years since MR4 and I still lose to unfamiliar matchups and misplays.

I think one of the more insidious problems that new players have problems with is hidden lingering effects. If gigantic spright is not currently on the field, a new player will scratch their head wondering why they cant summon nibiru when every other duel nibiru works just fine, hence cheating.

Druiswurm is individually superior obviously, but Saronir is a different name, so simply having it over x2 Druiswurm means another disruption or extender. And Saronir can chain block if sent from the hand or deck to GY even if the dump is something meaningless like sending Magnamhut.

Baldrake is also limited in the OCG. It's actually the strongest Bystial, but it needs to combo to resolve its effect propely.
Saronir seems bad if you are only running the Bystials as handtraps. It's functionally vanilla because using its effect leads to meaninglessly dumping another Bystial you'd rather have in hand or the option ot drawing into later.
But just the ability to create chains makes it unexpectedly useful. It's also situationaly useful for dodging shit like Colossus or Droll
Is it? I saw it commonly just left out of decks running the other Bystials. I thought it was strong when it was revealed only to never see it used outside of dedicated Bystial packages/decks.
Saronir meanwhile was shit on when the first trio came out and was 1/3rd the price of Druiswurm and 1/8th the price of Magna, but seems more widely used now.
Sidenote, Saronir is by far the ugliest Bystial, not in a bad way since he's supposed to be an evil, monstrous being, but damn he looks like some fricked up lion-bear demon with dragon wings
Unless you really want darks in your GY for some reason then Saronir is only good with a bigger Bystial/Branded package.
Baldrake is just better for the majority of decks since he's an extra interruption. Baldrake came out a lot later than most Bystials in TCG so he never had a chance to shine there since the meta had moved on, but in OCG and MD he was/is very good.
Isn't Bystial Lubellion still very widely used? I figured that would have given him a chance. The banish seems good, I guess that guy who was telling me it was shit was wrong. I use a set of 3 Baldrake sometimes irl simply because they were so cheap they were essentially free compared to the other Bystials (now thanks to the tins though I have Magnamhut and Saronir though).
Yes, he's good, but not every deck wants to run him. He needs you to run Regained/Beast to actually do anything noteworthy, and drawing him sucks for the average deck because all that does is let you summon a Bystial on your turn.
If you want Bystials purely as hand traps in a random deck with no special synergy with them then there's no point, and you'll just be mad that you drew Lubellion going second instead of one that could actually interrupt your opponent.
Even if you're running a non-light/dark deck, you'd rather have 1 Magna, 1 Druis, 3 Baldrake over 1 Magna, 1 Druis, 3 Saronir, because at least sometimes Baldrake will have another Bystial to tribute for its effect.
Magnamhut and Druiswurm are way better as handtraps than Baldrake, who mandates you open 2 Bystials. Druiswurm punishes most removal options and can immediately become a chainblocking threat on your turn.
Magnamhut grabs you any other Bystial after accomplishing its Crow effect which means it can do an absolutely insane amount on your turn 2 if you grab something like Druiswurm

Opening Druiswurm and Baldrake against most Light/Dark decks is basically an FTK. Even against Branded,

It’s supposed to send Lubellion if you banished him to summon a bystial or send Branded Regained so you can reset it Branded Beast.
I am only running 4 Bystials (Magna, Druid, Bald and Saronir) and no other support cards. They are purely as handtraps and to stop the likes of Accesscode Talker trying to OTK through Maxx.
Having 4 different names is helpful because some decks like Swordsoul will keep dumping Tenyis until they can resolve Vishuda, and since the Bystials are hard OPTs you can't summon the same name in the same turn if it gets bounced.
Just being a 4th name is a big benefit.

In MD the loading screens can be a bit annoying, but I'll open the game just to add one card I thought of to my deck then close it. In Duel Links I see that I have missions complete and don't want to claim them because changing screens will take to long, then I'll see I need to do a mission to play 2 spells in one turn and I won't want to add spells to my deck because navigating the UI is a pain in the ass.

If you look at Runick in a vacuum, you can see what Konami intended. It's suppoed to be a floodgate/deck out strategy with no way to do damage directly, and relies on "interaction". The fact that the Runick monsters have to be summoned to EMZ is what keeps it from being another Link spam deck.
The designers never intended for it to be used as a draw engine for combo. I don't think the teams that developed Spright + Tears was the same who came up with Runick.

Master Duel isn't great at building experience with a deck and that can induce misplay. Too many games you brick, lose toss and get blown out, get FTK'd, or play some weird deck you don't know how to play optimally against.
I lost a duel against Mikanko because I was up against the timer, and didn't realize that I had negated Hu-Li with Called the previous turn, allowing me to attack for game. I was too hyper focused on Accesscode Talker to clear all equips.
I've also been playing my deck for 3+ years since MR4 and I still lose to unfamiliar matchups and misplays.

I think one of the more insidious problems that new players have problems with is hidden lingering effects. If gigantic spright is not currently on the field, a new player will scratch their head wondering why they cant summon nibiru when every other duel nibiru works just fine, hence cheating.

They were viable when MD first came out but in addition to being one of THE most dependent on Halq decks in the game, the general power creep has completely dropped them below the level of playability. You will fold to a single interaction 99% of the time.
They're fine for plat but that's about it.
Imagine Dragon Link with only 1 starter, no archetype extenders and Dragon Locks you on the third summon. That's how bad Zombies are.

this is literally the biggest problem with zombie piles, they could get a lv3/4/5 that literally just summons itself from the hand and nothing else and it would be an insta-3-of staple
They have essentially the opposite problem of insects. Lots of access to good boss monsters, but zero extenders vs nothing but extenders with nothing to turn them into.
Holy shit that's a good point, I'd never even thought about it like that. Insects have been getting better boss monsters recently, but nothing even close to the powerlevel of other type piles.
