I'm genuinely surprised this thread is still going after I woke up. Anyway I'm playing Virtual World but I keep bricking. I'm LITERALLY about to lose to Blue Eyes because I'm only drawing hand traps
Seriously, what the frick is wrong with my deck? I thought virtual world is supposed to be good but I only draw like ONE virtual world card and the rest are hand traps or a pot that gets negated. Is my deck lopsided or something? What am I doing wrong? In my last game i spent 2 turns just to summon JiuJiu, even getting Shenshen is a fricking nightmare for me.
I don't get it, I looked up a bunch of decks online and copied them perfectly. I even have a combo guide on a second screen but I can never just DRAW the right cards. Do I have too many hand traps or something?
I haven't played penguins since we got support so it's outdated and was shit to begin with, so I don't have a list to share but I can suggest a few things. One of the main things you'll struggle with is drawing enough cards, being able to get enough cards on the board, and being able to search. Fortunately the new support can help with that, but you'll still want some staples to help you draw cards; Ash Blossom is obviously a useful staple to have as well, not just because she's a handtrap but because level 3 tuners are very useful for the synchros you'll be summoning. Staples aside, the penguin cards you're going to want to consider are: Nopenguin, Glacial Beast Polar Penguin, Penguin Brave, Penguin Squire, Nightmare Penguin, Puny Penguin, Penguin Ninja, Penguin Cleric, Penguin Soldier, Penguin Sword, and Royal Penguins Garden. The rest of the penguins are honestly shit, especially guard penguin, although penguin torpedo might have very niche situational use. I'd also recommend gluttonous reptolphin greethys as another level 3 tuner, and his older brother ravenous crocodragon archethys on the off-chance that your opponent lets you pull off Maxx C. On top of that, water and aqua support is really useful, and you might even want to consider running an extra turtle kaiju since it synergises well.
She can summon both twins at once giving you both effects during either turn and she can be banished from the GY to send a card from the field to gy. The easier lethal is just a bonus.
Imagine being the only boy to pass Magic Man's Magic School in Magic Kingdom, only to get violently raped by the rest of your peers because you're the only boy in that specific class of magic and the rest are girls and grown women. What a b***h.

Ecclesia was the one that got corrupted. Her hair looks nothing like Fleur's. Also we have no idea if these 3 main deck dragons are Akbaz or rather other Abyss dragons Aluber summoned.
This also doesn't look like Eccs though. It looks almost like a human version of Quaeritis, and Quem already had a body. Didn't the ritual state it needed her soul in despair? And the previous offerings, if Iris is any indication, were dead.
If the dragon is Albaz then it would make sense for the walking corpse to be Ecclesia in the card art.

Did you not read the past card stories? It's not like the anime where they generally avoid "killing" characters after DM, and most characters are generally expendable. Yeah, Crystal came back for a technically happy ending at the end of DT, but he had to suffer a lot getting there. He wanted to be a hero but his corpse was used and abused for literal years worth of story after he gave his life during the first war. Cards like Ultimate Providence and the aftermath of it show children were killed in the assaults too. Generally the anime stuck to very vague stuff like Earthbound Immortals, and after the cult shit the most explicit "death" was that one criminal cyborg in Arc-V getting beaten to death by homeless people, which he absolutely deserved.
The other main story, WL, didn't go as far as DT since there was a concrete main character (Avram) though.
Of course killing characters doesn't really make it "dark" but it generally sets expectations for the tone of the story going forward, and more people follow the main stories compared to the side stories that barely get any updates, like Risebell (who seems to have turned into a demon while his sister grew up?).
People didn't expect Albaz to go down the same path because the story was pretty cheerful and optimistic before the clowns started actually winning.

Not saying World Chalice was bad. But the Albaz lore is really fricking up everything whenever they reveal a new Archetype. I think the only ones that didn't do so great are Springans and Icejades. And that might actually change soon given how strong Branded turned out later on.

Orcust didn't rearrange the meta as much as it froze the meta in time for almost two years. There was a time where you could play 3 decks and Dark Machine with the Orcust engine was one of them.
The only deck with a comparable legacy to all of these is Dogmatika, which also heavily relies on the Invoked engine to function.

no i remember that shit. i hated MR4 so much with Knightmares getting into the game. Goblin was iirc even the first link monster to ever get banned. But again: that happened in an era where other mechanics were restricted for no reason and the board breaking cards we have today didn't exist. I don't think they would have the impact they had back then when they return tomorrow. Nibiru alone is threatening the whole strategy on a large scale.

anon, every deck can play Goblin, every deck can play mermaid, just imagine any deck going 2 monsters, knightmare goblin, discard a card normal summon again, discard a card summon Iblee or Orcustrated Knightmare from deck, link 2 for something.
The Knightmares are too good not because of the limitations of link summoning, but because they have super generic, extremely powerful effects. All cards that give extra normal summons are inherently unfair and broken. It's why Brilliant Fusion is banned, it's why people, back when it was legal, played 3 Lonefire, 3 Scorpio to summon cobra to search it, so they can Seraphinite for the extra normal.

The whole back and forth with these two lores made me realize something: Tri-Brigade, Despia, Sword Soul and Dogmatika have generally a shorter combo route than other dominant decks in the past. I realized that only now like a dumb frick, but apparently Konami was actively working on making games not stretch to imbecilic lengths. Good shit.

they got released late 2018. my memory around them is blurry because people were playing that deck alot before it got released in the TCG. Still, it's a bit in the past, the decks i mentioned are more recent and are still the name of the game. the only cards stretching games to imebilic lengths are halq and auroradon but they got addressed in the tcg already. auroradon really should be banned, i'm using it myself but it's dragging games too much

If you take a mulligan you won't be able to use any cards or effects until the end of your opponents first turn (So if you're going first you won't be able to use effects turn 2. And if you're going second you won't be able to use effects turn 1)
Mulligan is such a double edge sword that as much as I wish I could use it Would also screw me over. Maybe if your opponent got an extra draw if you used it.

Let me tell you a secret anon, try to turn more than 40 cards, preferably something between 42 but less than 45. Yes, I know statistically it's lowering your chance to draw a specific card that you want in your opening hand, but "miraculously" you will always get good opening hand by running more than 40 cards. Don't ask me why, the game is rigged, after all.

It's like 200 gems the first time you beat each final duel with your own deck, isn't it? I think the main source of gems starting out is the fact that you complete a ton of missions very quickly. I also remember there being some limited time missions, but I'm not sure if you always get those when you start or if they were limited to the launch. Gems aside, I remember getting a bunch of SR and UR CP. That's a huge help on its own.

Doubt it. You need the token and (if you use him) the omni-negate to both be in your main monster zone which turns off your archetype spells. If you went first and made that board + an ED Raye, if they force the Gryphon negate you are relying even more on hand traps or regular backrow (Droplet/Imperm/D Barrier) to stop them at that point because anyone who realizes this will save the Token for last. Going second you could use Fateful Adventure to grab Dracoback for a bounce and use the Token + a Sky Striker to make Zeke (or Aussa link) but it's really just different and a lot of lists that use that stuff supplement it with other crap. Will not be any more oppressive than Sky Strikers currently is I think
The part where the cards are designed to be strong so people will buy them even if they don't care about the lore, no one remembers Icejades or Scareclaws but everyone plays Swordsoul, Therion engine, Splight and Mermaids
They received a very negative response when Iris was tortured and executed immediately on a Branded card after showing the Twin Saintesses token card so I'd assume that this shows a fair few people care.

I've only ran into Earth machines twice while laddering, once the guy scooped when the stalemate went in my favor and the other I won after a constant fun back and forth where he let Lieber crash into him
VFD isn't really important to Earf Machines, sure you can keep it feed with Goliath but it's not their win condition, I wouldn't mind if they banned it. I do drop it as soon as I find my opponent is playing Tribrig, adamancipators or VW >Earf for me, no Earf for you
They are very fun, the only really bad thing about them is the low ceiling currently. The best board you can make is Hope harbinger + First Darklord and DPE, which is pretty good, but very highroll and god hand dependant
You can watch Arc-V for "IMAGINE WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN" but it's not good. It has some moments but I think it's the worst of the series and it's not an uncommon opinion. Vrains is slow and boring with recap episodes and misplaced flashback episodes to elaborate on characters, and the last season is rushed despite this. Still haven't watched Sevens yet even though it's finished now.
Sevens is fun. It's a pretty lighthearted comedy so just don't expect the usual "death by trading card game" shonen stuff. But it does a lot of things right, such as giving a bunch of side characters screentime instead of it just being the main character soloing everything. Almost every weirdo with a super specific deck comes back in later episodes and a bunch of them even duel in the main characters' team.

He will win, at most, sometime next year if they really drag out the lore cards in the sets after Darkwing Blast. Photon Hypernova and one more set will come out before 2023. The closest the bad guys have come to winning was Ha Des (everyone's an butthole in hell) and the retconned timeline where Trishula froze the planet (hard to count this as a win).
The Ice dike won the Shiranui story and there are no heroes in the Magistus story so I do not see how a "good guy" will win that one.

All of a sudden, DIAN KETO THE CURE MASTER (N Rarity card) would become a popular card and they would be incentivized to turn Dian Keto into a SR/UR rarity card.
No, it hasn't happened. They also will give you a full refund in material cost for 3x copies if they ban a card. Or for 2x if they limit. And of course 1x if they semi-limit. But they also haven't limited/banned a UR yet.

The whole back and forth with these two lores made me realize something: Tri-Brigade, Despia, Sword Soul and Dogmatika have generally a shorter combo route than other dominant decks in the past. I realized that only now like a dumb frick, but apparently Konami was actively working on making games not stretch to imbecilic lengths. Good shit.
Sword Soul essentially lets you normal summon a synchro monster which is really lame, but in the end that's really not much different from normal summoning a monster that summons something from the deck that after 5 more actions lets you get out the synchro monster you wanted to summon from the start.
It just saves time and stops pretending that it takes effort to bring those monsters out.
In swordsouls case the combo is too short and too low commitment to the point that there's no room for interruptions. Didn't draw imperm or effect veiler too bad here's my boss monster.
That's true, but I think that's more a problem with one card starters in general and getting a token vs summoning a non-garnet monster from your deck is very similar in the end result. It being so short and simple makes it so you don't need knowledge of the deck to know how to interrupt it though. It doesn't take a genius to realize that the lvl 4 that summons a lvl 4 tuner is probably about to summon a lvl 8 synchro if you don't stop it.

because it's inconsistent garbage, this is legal in every format, but you can't make it happen to the point of causing issues without generic power cards like Summon Sorceress.
It is actually very consistent, but dies to all sorts of handtraps. There's an even more consistent FTK with Cupid Pitch that could play through some handtraps, but but is expensive
Tri-brigade can actually easily die to a lot of stuff due to their reliance on normal summon (especially for the rescue cat variant), but it is still known for being very consistent

tried this 60 card despia shaddoll deck for a while. this one seems to work fine but can definitely be improved. should i add Dogmatika to the mix? feel like that wouldn't work out so well, i can make Winda consistently regardless.
Ideal endboard is the Link 4 Tenyi that generates links or the 3k vanilla + the countertrap / field spell that is pot of gree on your opponents turn or a loaded grave
Plunder has very short combos and is very interactive as it requires your opponent to do things for you to do much.
Also even though everyone has it in mind for being one of the decks to most benefit from Adventure being released, it will continue to be rarely seen because it is a very weird deck to play that is not easy to learn.
It's surprisingly rare for someone to both never summon some extra deck monster that's light/dark, and not to drop an ash/effect veiler on you.
Then you still have extra deck generics like Bahamut Toad, Dragite, an easily chainblockable White Aura Whale, or halqifibrax options.
And of course this is assuming you don't draw into the continuous trap card that lets you both summon from your GY and change one of their monsters to your chosen attribute every turn. Which of course your field spell is also a once per turn way of searching it out.
Not to say it's not weaker vs something that's pure wind or whatever, but it's not so horrible of a downside. If people actually knew what the deck did and didn't go into their accesscode(dark) or Halqifibrax(light) then it would be way worse. But nobody knows how big a mistake that is vs Plunder Patrol.

I'm not finding this game fun anymore. It feels like a job and I've completely given up on even trying. I just use the same suicide deck that knocks out the same 2 dailies each day and then use Numerons on a solo gate to finish it quickly. It feels like no matter how much effort I put in, it never goes anywhere and I'll never improve.
I've tried Edopro but its got less polish and its very hard for me to understand what's going on when it moves so quickly and the log isn't as detailed. The time limits are a lot less generous too and I've timed myself out just trying to read what someone's cards are. Its not like I was taking forever or anything but its only like 2 minutes to read a completely new archetype you haven't seen before and react to it
I'm making a Tenyi deck. I really like what I see here. All of the core Tenyi cards are N and R rarity and I feel like I can make any kind of deck I want with this engine. I like how it's all special summoning, none of these cards need to be normal summoned and none of them force you to make Tenyi boss monsters. I can mix this deck up however I like. This is cool.

I haven't played penguins since we got support so it's outdated and was shit to begin with, so I don't have a list to share but I can suggest a few things. One of the main things you'll struggle with is drawing enough cards, being able to get enough cards on the board, and being able to search. Fortunately the new support can help with that, but you'll still want some staples to help you draw cards; Ash Blossom is obviously a useful staple to have as well, not just because she's a handtrap but because level 3 tuners are very useful for the synchros you'll be summoning. Staples aside, the penguin cards you're going to want to consider are: Nopenguin, Glacial Beast Polar Penguin, Penguin Brave, Penguin Squire, Nightmare Penguin, Puny Penguin, Penguin Ninja, Penguin Cleric, Penguin Soldier, Penguin Sword, and Royal Penguins Garden. The rest of the penguins are honestly shit, especially guard penguin, although penguin torpedo might have very niche situational use. I'd also recommend gluttonous reptolphin greethys as another level 3 tuner, and his older brother ravenous crocodragon archethys on the off-chance that your opponent lets you pull off Maxx C. On top of that, water and aqua support is really useful, and you might even want to consider running an extra turtle kaiju since it synergises well.

Did you not read the past card stories? It's not like the anime where they generally avoid "killing" characters after DM, and most characters are generally expendable. Yeah, Crystal came back for a technically happy ending at the end of DT, but he had to suffer a lot getting there. He wanted to be a hero but his corpse was used and abused for literal years worth of story after he gave his life during the first war. Cards like Ultimate Providence and the aftermath of it show children were killed in the assaults too. Generally the anime stuck to very vague stuff like Earthbound Immortals, and after the cult shit the most explicit "death" was that one criminal cyborg in Arc-V getting beaten to death by homeless people, which he absolutely deserved.
The other main story, WL, didn't go as far as DT since there was a concrete main character (Avram) though.
Of course killing characters doesn't really make it "dark" but it generally sets expectations for the tone of the story going forward, and more people follow the main stories compared to the side stories that barely get any updates, like Risebell (who seems to have turned into a demon while his sister grew up?).
People didn't expect Albaz to go down the same path because the story was pretty cheerful and optimistic before the clowns started actually winning.

This new archetype is going to just be a Chaos deck so it's more the fact that they can abuse that that makes them good.

The Knightmares are too good not because of the limitations of link summoning, but because they have super generic, extremely powerful effects. All cards that give extra normal summons are inherently unfair and broken. It's why Brilliant Fusion is banned, it's why people, back when it was legal, played 3 Lonefire, 3 Scorpio to summon cobra to search it, so they can Seraphinite for the extra normal.

God no, modern YGO is basically balanced around bricks and combo pieces you don't want to draw.

If you take a mulligan you won't be able to use any cards or effects until the end of your opponents first turn (So if you're going first you won't be able to use effects turn 2. And if you're going second you won't be able to use effects turn 1)

Let me tell you a secret anon, try to turn more than 40 cards, preferably something between 42 but less than 45. Yes, I know statistically it's lowering your chance to draw a specific card that you want in your opening hand, but "miraculously" you will always get good opening hand by running more than 40 cards. Don't ask me why, the game is rigged, after all.

That's true, they added more gates since launch.
It's like 200 gems the first time you beat each final duel with your own deck, isn't it? I think the main source of gems starting out is the fact that you complete a ton of missions very quickly. I also remember there being some limited time missions, but I'm not sure if you always get those when you start or if they were limited to the launch. Gems aside, I remember getting a bunch of SR and UR CP. That's a huge help on its own.
The tutorial solo missions give you like 600 or 500.
There might have been some more gems for the game's launch. But I'm pretty sure most of the games you could get in the first week of playing was from doing missions and going through Solo Mode.
Does adventurer really boost Sky Strikers to OP?
Doubt it. You need the token and (if you use him) the omni-negate to both be in your main monster zone which turns off your archetype spells. If you went first and made that board + an ED Raye, if they force the Gryphon negate you are relying even more on hand traps or regular backrow (Droplet/Imperm/D Barrier) to stop them at that point because anyone who realizes this will save the Token for last. Going second you could use Fateful Adventure to grab Dracoback for a bounce and use the Token + a Sky Striker to make Zeke (or Aussa link) but it's really just different and a lot of lists that use that stuff supplement it with other crap. Will not be any more oppressive than Sky Strikers currently is I think

I've watched the anime up to Zexal. Is Arc V, Vrains, and Sevens worth watching?
You can watch Arc-V for "IMAGINE WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN" but it's not good. It has some moments but I think it's the worst of the series and it's not an uncommon opinion. Vrains is slow and boring with recap episodes and misplaced flashback episodes to elaborate on characters, and the last season is rushed despite this. Still haven't watched Sevens yet even though it's finished now.

Sevens is fun. It's a pretty lighthearted comedy so just don't expect the usual "death by trading card game" shonen stuff. But it does a lot of things right, such as giving a bunch of side characters screentime instead of it just being the main character soloing everything. Almost every weirdo with a super specific deck comes back in later episodes and a bunch of them even duel in the main characters' team.

No, it hasn't happened. They also will give you a full refund in material cost for 3x copies if they ban a card. Or for 2x if they limit. And of course 1x if they semi-limit. But they also haven't limited/banned a UR yet.
They aren't really israeli at all with the game, so I doubt they would do something like that. They will just continue to be incompetent in most other matters.
Prank Kids Rocksies, Tri Brigade Fraktall and Adamancipator Analyzer all got hit on the last banlist update and are still low rarity so I don't think that will ever happen.

No idea what the lore implications of those things are, but Albaz is implied to have lost his abillity to transform so it can't be him. Also Lubellion is Aluber
Albaz can't fuse anymore without outside help, but he's still got black Albion (i.e. a non-fusion) as a base form.
The whole back and forth with these two lores made me realize something: Tri-Brigade, Despia, Sword Soul and Dogmatika have generally a shorter combo route than other dominant decks in the past. I realized that only now like a dumb frick, but apparently Konami was actively working on making games not stretch to imbecilic lengths. Good shit.
Sword Soul essentially lets you normal summon a synchro monster which is really lame, but in the end that's really not much different from normal summoning a monster that summons something from the deck that after 5 more actions lets you get out the synchro monster you wanted to summon from the start.
It just saves time and stops pretending that it takes effort to bring those monsters out.
In swordsouls case the combo is too short and too low commitment to the point that there's no room for interruptions. Didn't draw imperm or effect veiler too bad here's my boss monster.

That's true, but I think that's more a problem with one card starters in general and getting a token vs summoning a non-garnet monster from your deck is very similar in the end result. It being so short and simple makes it so you don't need knowledge of the deck to know how to interrupt it though. It doesn't take a genius to realize that the lvl 4 that summons a lvl 4 tuner is probably about to summon a lvl 8 synchro if you don't stop it.

Tri-brigade can actually easily die to a lot of stuff due to their reliance on normal summon (especially for the rescue cat variant), but it is still known for being very consistent

tried this 60 card despia shaddoll deck for a while. this one seems to work fine but can definitely be improved. should i add Dogmatika to the mix? feel like that wouldn't work out so well, i can make Winda consistently regardless.

Phantom Knights. Just play any build without Rhongo since it practically ends the game if they don't stop it.
Plunder has very short combos and is very interactive as it requires your opponent to do things for you to do much.
Also even though everyone has it in mind for being one of the decks to most benefit from Adventure being released, it will continue to be rarely seen because it is a very weird deck to play that is not easy to learn.
It's also hard to play when you're going against any deck that isn't dark, light or fire aligned
It's surprisingly rare for someone to both never summon some extra deck monster that's light/dark, and not to drop an ash/effect veiler on you.
Then you still have extra deck generics like Bahamut Toad, Dragite, an easily chainblockable White Aura Whale, or halqifibrax options.

So has anyone else been having this issue where card effects aren’t working the way they should all of a sudden? Ive been playing Raidraptors and Endymion since launch and this week ive ran into three issues where things that I have been able to do suddenly not work and nothing in the game state should have stopped, I even double checked with the replay

I'm not finding this game fun anymore. It feels like a job and I've completely given up on even trying. I just use the same suicide deck that knocks out the same 2 dailies each day and then use Numerons on a solo gate to finish it quickly. It feels like no matter how much effort I put in, it never goes anywhere and I'll never improve.
Try edopro, it has more things you can do like goat format, anime accurate deck duels, tags, relays, etc.
Also all the cards are free.
I've tried Edopro but its got less polish and its very hard for me to understand what's going on when it moves so quickly and the log isn't as detailed. The time limits are a lot less generous too and I've timed myself out just trying to read what someone's cards are. Its not like I was taking forever or anything but its only like 2 minutes to read a completely new archetype you haven't seen before and react to it

I'm making a Tenyi deck. I really like what I see here. All of the core Tenyi cards are N and R rarity and I feel like I can make any kind of deck I want with this engine. I like how it's all special summoning, none of these cards need to be normal summoned and none of them force you to make Tenyi boss monsters. I can mix this deck up however I like. This is cool.
