If you cannot OTK on turn 3 or setup enough interruptions then on turn 4 they steamroll you regardless. This is what you need to make people run battle traps in current year. If it's a trap you have to set you have to give it a Waking the Dragon tier "frick you" effect if popped. If you can respond to it, it doesn't matter period.
Make an archetype around them with backrow protection and a nibiru like effect but instead of wiping the field it forces you into the BP and all your monsters must attack. Battle traps are strong but they are worthless if the get destroyed before getting a chance to be activated or if your opponent doesn't attack because they know what you have

This is correct. Lyrilusc has been T1-T2 consistently for years now. Tri-brigade LL was genuinely the best deck for months before Tears came out but most people slept on it because they chased shiny new things such as Mathmech or Branded.
Lyrilusc will never be a tiered deck because they don't have a single one card combo

REDMD is a must play for dragons and Black Metal is a rare. On turn 3 you can Recharger effect to special summon it back from the grave off of any level 4 or lower with Striker Dragon. Put 3 Black Metal, one REDMD, and 1 One For One in your deck.

I'm just being real with you buddy. I play Alba Lenatus in my Branded Deck, but vast majority of the time I can't use it even against Dragon Link. It's almost exclusively to get Branded Fusion and barely leaves the ED because I already have Albion and Brigrand to send first. I was maybe a little sympathetic to Dragon Link players in the past about getting fricked by this card, but now the deck almost always ends on Branded Beast in their backrow and Branded almost never plays backrow hate. If someone is setting a face down, you know exactly what the frick is going on and have priority to pop it.
I've resolved Super Poly for Five Headed Dragon with one Bystial on my board (not in Branded!) more often than I get the chance to do the Alba Lenatus homosexualry.

How do we save battle traps
Lower the power level of the game until battling and life points become important again.
The back row used to be the scariest part of the game. Nowadays I don’t run a single trap in my entire deck.
They're still scary, they're just too slow, so they're greedy. A blowout trap like Torrential Tribtue or Ferret Flames is still hugely powerful, they're just bad when going second.
Either reduce the power level of the game or you'd have to make them insanely powerful to even warrant including in a modern deck list

They could also make battle traps with consolation prize effects, like "When a monster declares an attack DO SOMETHING CRAZY, or you may activate at any time to send one monster to the GY." or "When a monster declares an attack FRICKING DROP THEIR LP TO ZERO HOLY SHIT! If this face down card leaves the field by opponents effect, draw 1 card".

I remember at a recent YCS, one of the judges was looking up cards on their laptop and they were using Dueling Book and it was barely on the screen for like a couple seconds. Within minutes, Konami actually fricking scrubbed the fricking VoD on Twitch, actual clown shit.

How do you obtain currency? Can you grind continuously somehow forever or is there like a daily cap or some shit?
Dailies and Events
There's a cap to the amount of gens you're allowed to get from them but you get enough that it's not really a big deal and you never have to spend money
You get 145 gems every day (from dailies), you get them from lifetime missions (this is where much of the new player gem surplus is at), you get them from climbing ranks, you get them from doing solo mode gates, you get them from events and event missions, you get them from the duel pass (always buy this), you get some at random when you win a game sometimes
You get gems from doing daily missions, leveling up your rank, playing in events, doing event missions, randomly after duels (up to 100 a day I think), doing lifetime missions, and so on
dailies and monthly events gives you roughly around 6k gems/month. you should wait until they refreshes the new battlepass so you can get full refund of your gems. this game pretty f2p friendly as long you know how to spend your gemmies

You spend gems rolling on packs and the packs give you cards, you can dismantle cards in exchange for Crafting Points and craft cards yourself directly if you are so inclined to spend them
Events give you lots of gems which can be exchanged for cards which can be exchanged for CP. The duelist pass gives you a bunch of CP directly.

Just wait until it expires then resets unless you've already grinded past 50. You can still collect half of it without buying anything.

UR dust is very very valuable though and the pass is only 750 gems, less than a 10 roll

Seal is your primary disruption then you build the rest of your board around it. You'll never lose if you make a board of Seal, Savage or Hot Red, a Bystial in hand, and Branded Beast. If you play Broataur you can summon it off of Seal to search Baldrake during your opponent's turn or grab Levi for the crack back.

REDMD is a must play for dragons and Black Metal is a rare. On turn 3 you can Recharger effect to special summon it back from the grave off of any level 4 or lower with Striker Dragon. Put 3 Black Metal, one REDMD, and 1 One For One in your deck.

I'm just being real with you buddy. I play Alba Lenatus in my Branded Deck, but vast majority of the time I can't use it even against Dragon Link. It's almost exclusively to get Branded Fusion and barely leaves the ED because I already have Albion and Brigrand to send first. I was maybe a little sympathetic to Dragon Link players in the past about getting fricked by this card, but now the deck almost always ends on Branded Beast in their backrow and Branded almost never plays backrow hate. If someone is setting a face down, you know exactly what the frick is going on and have priority to pop it.
I've resolved Super Poly for Five Headed Dragon with one Bystial on my board (not in Branded!) more often than I get the chance to do the Alba Lenatus homosexualry.

I feel bad for dragon deck players getting their whole board contacted fused away, but Albaz himself is really mediocre and I only ever seen him summoned as a last ditch effort by someone who bricked, and it almost never works.

They do that with decks they want to be good, like Branded, but Albaz himself is the worst card in the deck, and only ran for his name.
