It never was that good, we were just impressed by a fast-paced, violent FPS because we were expecting so much worse after Doom3 and the cancelled Doom4.
Zoomies love neon, cartoony screen and colorful screen effects.
Doom 2016 has superior visuals and level design. Eternal is a troony game.
Dishonest Eternal image, it's not even the single player.
Also you have full control over the hud in Eternal, you can make it look like this, nothing is stopping you.
Dishonest comparison, you're looking at a background in 2016 and you're using a screenshot from the multiplayer mode in Eternal.
Here's your orange screenshot if that what's good
Imagine liking literally brown and grey over actual colors. When all games were doing this Ganker's main buzzphrase for years was MUH BROWN N BLOOM but when games actually use color that's when Ganker gets nostalgic for that bullshit
Brown and gray are perfectly fine and so are colors as long as the artists were talented and made a good art style. There's also no bloom in 2016 Black person.
Eternal is a schizophrenic cooldown simulator only playable after heavily modding out all the bullshit, like having a mere pocketful of ammo or pointless moronic shit like fire belch when they had the perfect armor management in 2016 via glory kills. Also punch not doing any damage/suddenly becoming a murderzone is, again, idiotic.
>having a mere pocketful of ammo
Literally just use the chainsaw. It's an instant kill with a short cooldown that refills all your ammo in all your guns at the beginning of the game and about half of it by the endgame with all upgrades. >But I'm still running out of ammo
Motherfricker switch guns once in your life
This. Ancient Gods 1 is the peak.
I still like 2016, I think it has stronger atmosphere and a story thats worthwhile to pay attention to, whereas Eternal's is trash. But Eternal is so much more fun to actually play.
I remember the super gore nest master level and ancient gods coming out back to back and they were like a slap in the face how brutally hard they were compared to the game like they wanted to make a real challenge and didn't give a frick if anyone didn't like it. Then they made that piece of shit called tag2.
It was trash and after the increasing difficulty of the previous releases it was a joke in comparison
I personally don't mind that TAG2 is a bit easier than TAG1 is, although post patch of TAG1, I really don't think the difficulty discrepancy between the two is as dramatic as people claim it is. TAG1 certainly has harder slayer gates, and TAG2 makes the hardest encounters optional I guess. But TAG2 is still much harder than the main game.
The biggest offense TAG2 makes to me is that the entire campaign feels like re-used assets remixed into new levels. Not a single level looks new, it has a cheap look to it, like they had to cut a lot of corners. Meanwhile UAC Atlantica, The Blood Swamps and The Holt look unlike anything else from the main game. They felt like high production levels made with a lot of care and attention. There's so much empty space in TAG2, even the first level, it just looks bad. Then there's also the matter of the cringe story of 2, but that I can ignore at least. And the awful final boss.
I love the spirit enemy, because they completely change how you think about combat. I'm glad they weren't around for the entire game though but being featured in 2 levels is completely fine by me.
You mean those guys who possess and buff other demons? What was your issue with them? I remember a couple moments when I didn't have enough plasma ammo to zap them but it just teaches you to be more mindful. They weren't so hard to deal with

They're way faster, have more health, and can't be faltered. They are annoying

It gets pretty frantic though and I love it. Possessed barons are some wild shit, those frickers are already fast without the buff
>Doom Eternal doesn't even feel like a shooter to me.
It basically isn't. First person DMC with added MMO-style ADHD.
Even ITT you have apologists desperately framing anyone disliking Zoom Eternal as a git gud problem. Seriously, Far Cry 1 is harder. It's a design problem.
It never was that good, we were just impressed by a fast-paced, violent FPS because we were expecting so much worse after Doom3 and the cancelled Doom4.
I wonder if people who say Eternal is bad are just terrible at it or just shitposting. It’s one of the few genuinely last good games of the past 15 years. I can’t even play 2016 anymore.
It's more popular therefore by Ganker logic it must be worse. I've seen the same 3 complains parroted since a few months after release and each one just outs the posters as never having played the game or being absolutely terrible at it
I remember before Eternal was released everyone complained how the biggest number of enemies on screen is like 10. Strange how everyone is quiet about that one now
is cool
but eternal kinda made the game obsolete, unless you really cant stand having to switch weapons then theres no reason to play d44m over it
Zoomies love neon, cartoony screen and colorful screen effects.
Doom 2016 has superior visuals and level design. Eternal is a troony game.
eternal designs are faithful to the original sprites
youre not fitting in
Well said, imagine preferring bottom to top
look at that absolute SOULFUL brown dust
we didnt know how good we had it...

why did you have to bring trannies into this? are you ok?
Imagine liking literally brown and grey over actual colors. When all games were doing this Ganker's main buzzphrase for years was MUH BROWN N BLOOM but when games actually use color that's when Ganker gets nostalgic for that bullshit
>nostalgic
its just being contrarian, and sometimes wanting to be contrarian makes you say the stupidest shit
Brown and gray are perfectly fine and so are colors as long as the artists were talented and made a good art style. There's also no bloom in 2016 Black person.
>Doom 2016 has superior visuals
> Making him look less edgy/more like the original model is bad.
Those classic maps were cool though (and ridiculously hard)
>Zoomies love neon, cartoony screen and colorful screen effects.
anon, millennials spent an entire decade complaining about brown and bloom.

>armor management in 2016 via glory kills
What? GKs gave health in 2016 too. Unless you use that one rune but imagine using a rune slot for that
I like the fast pace high skill floor and enemies that aren't moronic.
>having a mere pocketful of ammo

what happened with tag2
It was trash and after the increasing difficulty of the previous releases it was a joke in comparison

Tag 1 is fun until they throw spirit enemies at you, cant believe some moron at id thought they're a good addition
I love the spirit enemy, because they completely change how you think about combat. I'm glad they weren't around for the entire game though but being featured in 2 levels is completely fine by me.

The multiplayer was certainly fantastic and I'm tired of saying it wasn't.
Doom Eternal doesn't even feel like a shooter to me. Too many cooldowns and forced animations
>Doom Eternal doesn't even feel like a shooter to me.
It basically isn't. First person DMC with added MMO-style ADHD.

Its adjustment, eternal feels more like quake in its actual movement.
the ML even have pistol starts.
>Prototype for Eternal with half-assed mechanics.
It never was that good, we were just impressed by a fast-paced, violent FPS because we were expecting so much worse after Doom3 and the cancelled Doom4.
It was fantastic but Eternal was even better. Also after becoming good at Eternal the difficulty of 2016 is a complete joke
MetaDoom is also a masterpiece
I wonder if people who say Eternal is bad are just terrible at it or just shitposting. It’s one of the few genuinely last good games of the past 15 years. I can’t even play 2016 anymore.
I can imagine the game is brutally hard on consoles so that may be one reason
Well I played it on console and I think that it’s one of the best games I’ve ever played so that can’t be right.
It is fun to be a controller chad
It's more popular therefore by Ganker logic it must be worse. I've seen the same 3 complains parroted since a few months after release and each one just outs the posters as never having played the game or being absolutely terrible at it
Say what you will but hell in Eternal looked like hell, in 2016 it was indistinguishable from the Mars levels
I remember before Eternal was released everyone complained how the biggest number of enemies on screen is like 10. Strange how everyone is quiet about that one now
yeah its pretty great, eternal is awesome too. i couldnt be bothered to finish eternal dlc's tho
The DLC is the height of the game for me, especially TAG1. All 3 levels are highlights for me
The worst reboot I've ever been scammed into.
Not "DOOM" on any level. Literally on par with Halo shit.
