I'm playing Elex 2 and actually enjoying it, but it was a pretty disappointing sequel. Elex had a pretty cool world and an interesting mystery to what the Elex aliens were, and Elex 2s reveal for that is just pure disappointment. The character models and voice acting also took a step back in some ways, with some models looking worse then the prequel, and the voice acting of the albs losing the monotone emotionless aspect of it. Also, making the Clerics a minor faction was a poor decision because they are one of the more interesting factions in Elex, Morkons were lame. Also, them giving Jax a kid was stupid.
All in all, it was just poorly thought out in terms of story and the designs of the monsters took a step back. Sucks cause the game has potential, but it had a such a nice setup from the original Elex that what we got was just disappointing. It's still not a bad game though, and if you like PB games you'll probably like it, you'll just be disappointed like I was if you actually liked Elex and the world.
Risen 1 is a good game, albeit a very safe retread of what PB had done before (its pretty much a gothic remake). Risen 2 is a departure that makes little sense, both thematically (R2 is about pirates in the most cliche way) and in game design, appallingly inferior to its predecessor. Just as one example, R1 has arguably the best combat system PB ever made. Instead of polishing and iterating on it for R2, they replaced it with a clunky and unfun new combat system because some moron on the team really really really liked pirates of the carribbean.
Its a similar story with E2. You're playing it and being repulsed by all the bad dumbed down design elements and asking yourself why these german morons just couldnt iterate on what they already had. Even the graphics are worse in some respects.

i tried it. its not good at all. the combat i couldve forgiven but it ended up being eons until you can acquire any equipment- and then until you can rectify your level ups to meet the significant requirements for even basic things- then realise you need about 200 points in completely obscure areas with recipes from frick knows where to do basic things like "make ammo" or "make health"-
and thats dozens of hours before youre forced to choose a faction to obtain anything of worth ability or stat wise, during which an angry dog can kill you instantly. the setup is nice, the detail of the systems is commendable, but it just isnt fun to play, listen to, look at or traverse through. ended up dropping it when the Tech Priests kidnapped me in the middle of nowhere after a few hours of questing for the Vikings and teleported me to their base 130 miles away where i was shortly tasked with doing another 50 different favours on the off chance they might give me a pea shooter i cant use for 4 levels.

They fricked up the combat and made it even more jankier than in risen or gothic 3. Also they completely botched the balance where in the first 10hours of the game you can only fight the weakest monster like critters for 5exp and after that you get the plasma gun and can kill practically everybody without much of a problem if you have enough ammo.
Other than that, great exploration, great worldbuilding, decent story.
