The draw/junction system was poorly though out, and the love story is beyond forces. Triple Triad, the music, and gunblade concept are the best things to come out of 8. Not that 8 is a bad game by any means, but the love story is dogshit, and so is Rinoa.

FF8 is way too easy to exploit. Just bind Sleep to the gunblade and you've beaten the game.

The devs wouldn't have included the mechanic if it wasn't meant to be used. Not my job to rebalance a game by imposing limitations on myself.
This one was fun, but definitely not a masterpiece. I played it without knowing what Parasite Eve is, so I didn't have nostalgia getting in the way. Ended up reading Parasite Eve (the novel) before playing the first game and honestly the first game took just as many liberties with the source material as The 3rd Birthday, so seeing fans criticize T3B for that is funny to me.
Also the book and the movie which is hated by its own director are easily the best entries in the franchise so Parasite Eve PSX fans need to pipe down about what a good story is.
I think I was in seventh grade when this came out and I absolutely loved it except for regenerating health and missiles. I can see how it might be cringy if I went back to it and I'm sure it doesn't hold up as well as Prime, but the point is I got a lot of joy out of Other M so I could never hate it. Ended up buying a Switch for Dread and it was worth it. Happy I still have copies of Fusion and Zero Mission because apparently those are expensive nowadays.

Nah. I played the hell out of 8. Then again I'm over 40 and played this when it came out. It's a good game. That said:
