Ask him to clarify his position on diversity in CP2020

That block of text was from a book specifically about Nomads and is from the perspective of Nomads. Nomads want you to stick to your tribe, homogeneity, groupthink. So, they made up a myth about how the problem with society was how different people were from each other, as if that was even remotely the fricking point. Pondsmith put words in the mouths of people who were meant to be wrong in an interesting way, and morons like you consume it uncritically today.

Aren't the nomads, specifically the Aldecados basically the most moral group in the entire setting?

I mean, it depends what you consider "moral". They are organised into small friendly tribes, their culture doesn't have weird violent rituals and try to have some semblance of peace internally, and they don't care what the Man says and will help people and get paid doing it regardless.

They also steal, kill, and acts as pirates. They don't take prisoners that can't be ransomed, and they really don't care what your story is. If you're not with them, you're the enemy, and if you don't live like they do you are a lower class of person that deserves whatever happens to you. The only organisational morality towards outsiders is that they don't have an overarching desire to hurt others, but it's all on a case by case basis. Everyone in Cyberpunk trends towards shitty, so there's nothing that prevents 5 Aldecaldos to mug you. They wont give you an excuse about protection money either, they'll take it because they can.

But comparatively speaking, also that quote wasn't supposed to be from Santiago? who was basically the closest thing to a big good the setting had?

They don't pirate, kill and steal from poor people and orphans, bro. They do it to corpo caravans, who all deserve it.

Choom, the only reason your grandparents made it into town is because they drive a car from before the collapse. If their trunk had been full of glass the 'caldos would have zeroed them and burnt their ride for warmth. The only thing different between a Chicago mobster and a nomad, Aldecaldo or otherwise, is whether they kick up to the godfather or the family.

Don't believe their "Pepperidge farm remembers" bullshit! If Nomads only hit corpo trucks then why are fixers always signing up muscle to ride along with their cars?

But comparatively speaking, also that quote wasn't supposed to be from Santiago? who was basically the closest thing to a big good the setting had?

Sure, they're divorced from the corporate exploitation structure and instead exploit on their own terms which are generally far more favourable, or at the very least fair play. If you could choose between being hired by a big corporation or inducted into the Aldecaldos then the latter sounds preferable. But it's incidental, there's no rule within their society that says to be decent. Just because their face-man was a decent guy doesn't mean every one of them is, think of how armies act when they rest in between journeys. That's basically what they are.

You statics forget that Snake Nation represents all the independents out here, including the raiders and scavs. They ain't really a part of any family, they're just in it for themselves. They're as much a problem for us as they are for you. Unfortunately you use the word "nomad" when talking about all of us regardless of what we abide by and how we do it.

But it's alright. You treat us better when you need safe passage. Stay afraid and stay stationary, these highways are ours.

I can't in good conscience argue against nomads with a trailer line like that. I concede.

I do nothing. As it is Maximum Mike. He gets a pass for being that awesome.

What exact book is this from and when was it published? This is prophetic and truly Cyberpunk in the factor that it it was a nightmare future that has pretty much come true.

Should be noted that the Nomads deal with the problem of diversity with class solidarity in opposition to bourgeois identity politics. It's kind of a hardline Marxist stance tbh

"no war but class war" (and that includes no race war) is something an oldhead like pondsmith would agree with yeah

What we called diversity then (and today) was actually just selfish identity politics wrapped up in palatable marketing words. Real diversity, according to the nomads, is discarding your past identity and recognizing your need to aid something bigger than you.

Tell him that he's activated my trap card, because I've programmed that particular robot waifu's ass to ASSault anyone who slaps it. Between the ass-slap and the ASSault, there's barely enough time for me to utter
    "You've activated my trap card,"
and for MAXIMUM MIKE to begin comprehending the gravity of his mistake. The unmistakable whine of capacitors chirps as he throws his cyberware into overdrive in order to avoid the ASSault, but he's a fraction of a second too late: the robot ass has already slammed him into the wall, pinning him against it as the ass twerks like a jackhammer. I sip my wienertail as MAXIMUM MIKE tries to cry out, but the robot ass is jackhammering his body several times each second. I coolly look around the room, observing the reactions of other patrons... like (You): what do (You) do?
