it truly is.
I never understood the appeal of Terraria's horrible pure 2D, it's so fricking cringe to see only SIDE of the character - God dammit show me the fricking PROFILE; not the LITERAL SIDE
If we look at modern stuff, Everspace series good. Check it out. Skip the first one if you don't like rogue-esque games.
It's not.
>Everspace series
its just two everspace games, but yeah 2 is awesome. its levels has that early digital blasphemy nostalgic feeling and its OST is blasting.
You're joking, right? >enter space ship >cutscene >take off from the planet >cutscene >fast travel to another planet >cutscene
And space exploration is worthless because there's literally nothing of interest in space. Ffs you can't even exit your spaceship and fly around without bugs/mods.
KSP is alright I guess, never played it enough to form a real opinion, frick them for making KSP2 blow so much though. I won't forget that.
Spengies is awful. Dlcs, shilling, and overpromising ruined it. The game isn't even stable, it still crashes way too much. More so even than From the Depths, and that's an actual game with amazing combat.
Only good space game was outer wilds and only because devs decided to experiment a bit and add some conent in their space game, which was unthinkable at the time.
90% of your time in Frackin Universe is wasted on organizing stupid "it will be useful later" items on your ever-expanding collection of storage furniture, and you will spend the remaining 10% looking for storage management mods on steam workshop.
I bet Amazon make their slaves play Frackin Universe between those corporate-mandated tetris training sections.
It really just needs a better boss and dungeon system, along with more functional unique items for biomes, instead of just cosmetics. What's weird is that they do in fact have a system in place to teleport you to sub-dungeons, so if they wanted to, they could easily place doors to thematically appropriate bosses within generated structures, but they haven't and as far as I know, mods haven't either.
You're delusional if you thought something would come from it, nothing EVER comes from proprietary source code leaks. Nobody's gonna risk being sued over copyright.
The funniest instance was the latest Windows XP source leak, Ganker, being underage programmer LARPers they are, started prophesizing HECKING SXVL KINX OS comeback, and then got massively butthurt when ReactOS forum mod posted this.
The reason most space game suck is because people are obsessed with the vastness of space and try to recreate that in their game, which fails 100% of the time.
No, I don't want infinite planets with infinite structures and minutes-long ftl travel. I want hand crafted locations that tell a story that EVOKE the emotions of the vastness of space.
Only Outer Wilds did it right.
The problem with starbound is it tried to make each planet a persistent world, but persistent worlds are worthless when you have an infinite number of them.
A true space terraria would have your ship be persistent and every planet just be a sort of dungeon generator.
I really liked Chorus for what it was, the main character was tiresome and it has it's glaring flaws but it was a game closest to Jedi Starfighter we have gotten since Jedi Starfighter.
People REALLY wanted it to be good.
Also there is a non-insignificant subset of coomers who will never forgive them for creating Florans and then trapping them forever in a bad game (Florans of Wargroove just aren't the same).
It's like how people still cry about Minecraft not having anime frog girls (because the devs decided to use the placeholder/joke models forever because autismos have more money than weeaboos), except implementing anime frog girls in Minecraft with mods is a lot easier than implementing any of the promises Starbound's devs made (Minecraft also doesn't blow up or desync your character out of existence if you try to fix it with mods). Same with Project Ego, except everyone that got hyped for it either too old to care about newest Fable (or dead).
The idea is that Starbound was its playerbase's first "dream game that may actually come true (it didn't)", so they are obviously really attached to it. They interacted with the devs, shared ideas and suggestions, the whole "a community sharing a dream" nonsense is actually really influential thing and I'm surprised only WEGs are able to monetize the shit out of it.
And people also wanted to have sex with plant and fish ayy lmaos.
It's still better than Terraria
I wish
If we look at modern stuff, Everspace series good. Check it out. Skip the first one if you don't like rogue-esque games.
It's not.
Cope, but yeah Everspace is good
weird bait
It unfortunately, is not, it's far far worse than Terraria.
This game is the definition of wasted potential.
it truly is.
I never understood the appeal of Terraria's horrible pure 2D, it's so fricking cringe to see only SIDE of the character - God dammit show me the fricking PROFILE; not the LITERAL SIDE
No!
They hated him for he spoke the truth
Space games keep fricking up because of one simple thing: the
the what?
lolno
>Everspace series
its just two everspace games, but yeah 2 is awesome. its levels has that early digital blasphemy nostalgic feeling and its OST is blasting.
KSP and Spess Engineers are good games.
Also Starfield
You're joking, right?

How has nobody told the Keen shill to frick off yet? Spengies is terrible and your terrible for thinking it's good.
What's wrong with either of those? Non-sperg response please.
KSP is alright I guess, never played it enough to form a real opinion, frick them for making KSP2 blow so much though. I won't forget that.

>game literally got worse each update and removed features
I genuinely don’t know what the frick they were thinking
Only good space game was outer wilds and only because devs decided to experiment a bit and add some conent in their space game, which was unthinkable at the time.
>was following its development since 2012 and still remember how much shit they initially promiced
Frackin Universe saved it
qrd on that mode?
>bunch of shit, nobody asked for, barely working together
Nah.
>just add more shit lol lmao
Starbound is shit on a fundamental level. Adding more crap on top of it doesn't fix a fricking thing.

>nobody has mentioned FTL yet
Um, hello?
>I am... forgotten
Still the best mobile game
the magic of space games is the exploration. so many games fail at this somehow

>Nothing ever came from the source code leak
What a shame.

Tiy already said he doesn't give a frick about the source code tho
it has good modding api already

this game is nearly 10 years old. The *beta* is 10 years old.
how are people mourning this game for almost a decade.
People REALLY wanted it to be good.

you'll always need a certain amount of autism to fully enjoy space games.
I can't decide between X4 and Elite for my first proper space game.
- x4
empire management
space empires war and economy simulation
- elite
trucking simulator
fun combat
boring traveling
better grafics
Better graphics but you can't walk inside your ship. Useless, but it's the kind os uselessness I dig.
