Me and my friends want to run a Dark Souls campgain but one of our problems with the setting is that it's a little too grim dark and serious, we really love marvel movies especially shit like Guardians of the Galaxy so our campgain would basically be a mix of that but I'm not really sure how we would go around it. We're using the offical system since we don't want to leave the 5e ruleset. So what's a good way of putting GotG into Dark Souls?

    >too grim dark and serious
Just say "too dark" it means the same thing
    >we really love marvel movies especially shit like Guardians of the Galaxy so our campgain would basically be a mix of that but I'm not really sure how we would go around it.
Look at stuff like fafhrd and the gray mouser. That setting is dark but the heroes often run into absurd situations. You can have dark fantasy and humor at the same time. Like maybe have your characters visit an insane asylum and run into some wacky crazy people

Why even bother doing Dark Souls world if your not gonna do the shit that made it unique and fun

Take a look at Berserk manga, it has some heavy dark atmosphere but also some wacky comic relief sidekicks

How is Dark Souls supposed to look in a tabletop setting anyway? Like combat is just really unforgiving? Your starting class doesn't tether you to any kind of build? All your lore is conveyed really vaguely and you can't confirm anything if your players string theories together?

Dark Souls is a roll playing game, the mechnics should translate into tabletop easily.

            >roll for roll
            >heavy penalty because fatrolling
            >rolls poorly, takes instability damage from being rollcaught
            >enemy gains attack of opportunity and chain backstabs you out of recovery
this thing is getting a little too realistic

As the person who wrote the original Fires Far Away, I was briefly furious that someone might be trying to take credit for my work. But this solo conversion looks neat, and I'm glad it exists for the people whose main complaint about FFA was that Dark Souls shouldn't have a party of characters.

Danky Sanky does not have full time multiplayer, so the solitaire conversion is the only version worth playing.

Then you don't want to run a dark souls campaign.
