I've seen this floating about as an audio book, is it any good? Looks like the manga thing were the world has video game/RPG elements but in western book form?
I like that trope where it's basically fantasy, but then you find out there was a crazy advanced civilization that made the current tech that you call magic.
the WORST thing about games these days is the handholding and bullshit HUDs. and scifi is perfect excuse to give the game wall hacks, arrows pointing where to go, autoaim, etc.
I miss having to read signposts and figure out where to go
Any games that take the Flintstones/Shrek approach where it's supposed to take in a primitive period of time, yet people use animals/tools/magic in ways reminiscent of modern times?
techno fantasy
science reality and medieval fact
that sounds like it's about to turn VERY antisemitic VERY fast
Neo-feudal science fantasy.

Cosmic Horror
high fantasy set in the far future where time actually passed and the tech is based on scientific application of magic

Green fields and classic European architecture will always be a better setting than grim industrial techno sci-fi stuff...
