>medieval fantasy setting
>everything about the game looks European
>one katana is included
>it's the best weapon in the game
Why do they always do this?
>medieval fantasy setting. >everything about the game looks European. >one katana is included

Name 3 games
Baldur's Gate 1
Baldur's Gate 2
A third game
Carsomyr is the best weapon in Baldurs Gate
dark souls
dark souls
dark souls
Katanas are nowhere near the best in Dark Souls
But a Katana is the best in Elden Ring, which sucks
I thought people liked greatswords in Elden Ring, on account of the fact they actually stagger and knockdown bosses.
because its looks cooler and better than other weapons.
Claymore's cooler
because it was folded a thousand times
>medieval fantasy setting
>everything in the game is dismal and gray
>there's one Hawaiian guy wearing a grass skirt and fights by juggling torches
>no one knows where he came from
>he sells pineapples and hula-hoops.
>nice guy.
>be me
>making a medieval fantasy game
>there's brown characters but makes sense in universe
>realize that retards on Ganker will think it's le political pandering even though I just like huge world building
nah
It's pretty easy to differentiate between a far away traveler currently located in the European setting, and characters that should be white being blackwashed
It's interesting that they're more likely to raceswap ancient Roman (or Gauls) with east Africans instead of with those of west African descent.
They know what they're doing.
It can't make sense in any setting inspired by Europe
There was never any far away nonwhite travelers in Europe until the 1700's
>Still caring what Ganker thinks even in (you)r own imagination
lmao
>medieval fantasy setting
>everything about the game looks European
>Include a dog as a companion
>It's a Tibetan Mastiff
>No explanation, it's just a cool dog
>The dog has a gun
Rule of cool.
>weebs having any understanding of what's "cool"
Yes, weebs are objectively correct.
bow to your masters.
It took far too long for western devs to realize how to use and show western medieval designs and aesthetics. CDPR's art and design team who knew and understood all sorts of clothing and armor designs throughout European history deserve some credit. GoT's design team as well. And of course both of those got their push from Weta Workshop's autism on LotR.
The Witcher game outfits/armor were pretty rad. Makes me wonder what the people in charge of the TV show were smoking.
Ballsack armor, literally. Simply a negative sense of aesthetics and wanted to make hamfisted points about masculinity.
It's also worth pointing out that the Japs have done great work and appreciation for western armor - berserk of course being one of the touchstones.
Well, I hope they got their wish, considering they apparently had to replace all the armor in the second season at great expense.
OH MY GOD THE EXOTIC AND RARE WEAPON IS POWERFUL IM A VIDEO GAME IM LITERALLY SHITTING AND PISSING
Women love clothes, but they have no interest in armor. The showrunner said "just make them look like testicles"
Man I'd love a AAA adaptation of Battle Brothers.
>black character
>doesn't use a Sub-Saharan African sword
The third one looks like a Legendary weapon from an MMO
The konda sword is actually pretty cool so I would mind seeing a dantasy Black using one of these
Pretty sure I saw one of the black guys in Lord of the Rings use that
Post it
How come so many games with modern settings use katanas (L4D, GTA, yakuza, DMC etc) but no games with modern settings ever use european broadswords?
I have no idea, but I love it
I always larp as Spanish Templar Knight going on a holy crussade
I've always thought of it as
>Alot of swords made range from good to crap
>A crap sword won't help you get very far
>A good sword can help you get a long way
so if you found a katana from the far east chances are that thing has to have some merit to get it's previous owner so far away from home
Best balance between damage, weight, speed and maneuverability
You should play more medieval games other than Dark Souls.
for me it's the falx
