Megaman already has three seperate timelines, not counting the anime/manga/comics/cartoons.
The issue is that it just doesn't fit with Megaman as a brand
            If this thing

wasn't called "Maverick Hunter" most of us wouldn't even think it was Megaman, and most people who only know the classic games wouldn't even think that.

Always thought this fps+plaforming Maverick Hunter idea could have been a neat X series prequel with X awoken, the first gen Reploids, finding Zero. Sigma going rogue.

        Anonymous

it was the elf wars, the devs clearly said that the game was going to be a prequel to the zero series where x is fighting during the elf wars and they wanted to make a cod metroid prime style game to do it, people hated the idea though even though it pretty much would be the best way to show off the elf wars

What's your OS? You may need to install python 3 to run it.
Also I've tried the randomizer before and it takes a while to generate a randomized rom so it could be that your pc is a tad slower.

I couldn't tell you for sure since I still use Win7 and the exe worked fine, but there could be something else messing with it.
Have you checked if it generates a folder called output? If not create one in the same folder where you have the executable file since that's where the randomized rom will be.

I was some shield style, I think wood. I was only able to pierce through Alphas defence with shield if I remember right. Doesn't he regenerate around his core and you have to do enough damage to get past that? My memory of the game is foggy enough that I think I could get a lot out of a replay at this point.

Yeah, you would need to open his core up before you could do any damage. Using charged flamethrower is just awful since it locks you in place

Why the hell did they literally never do anything with Glyde? I know in the anime there is a Glyde cross of some sort, although I forget the specifics and that there was episodes featuring him using Yai's overpowered chips (or maybe that was in the manga. Why do they never do anything at all in the games? Besides Yai being used as an excuse for getting certain expensive things like the boat engine or something in 3. Not that I'm like particularly fond of him or anything, but it just stands out massively when Gutsman is usually fightable and Roll is fightable in 4 and always a Navi Chip and then there's Glyde who gets frick all.

ElecTeam fused MegaMan with Glyde in at least one episode.

It all comes down to Wily being neutralized. In both Mega Man Classic and Battle Network Wily continued to seek world domination, but in Classic Wily left a parting gift with the Maverick Virus that turned the future into more endless warring, while in Battle Network he repents and instead dedicates his time to improving net society instead.

9 was fantastic, it was missing slide and charge shot but the level design worked around that. you should just try getting better at games instead of dropping them when they are difficult.

If SF continued, I wouldn't be surprised if the proper finale would have involved EXE who is literally immortal. The Network timeline mogs the Classic timeline as humanity continues to advance. Meanwhile, humans go extinct in the Classic timeline and then there's a Turn-A style reset tech reset when we get to Legends.

it doesn't need to be a reboot at all, they can just make a new story 100 years or whatever after starforce, if BN is the classic of that timeline, Starforce is their X and whatever comoes next should be their Zero equivalent

That and Navis likely had an artificial lifespan built in at some point. It's doubtful they would have wanted to stick around forever while their users died.

                Anonymous

And then Navis themselves became obsolete somehow. Not really sure how that happened but Navis just don't exist at all in Star Force 1 and 2 and only returned in the form of Wizards in 3, which is weird but whatever.

Obviously the reason Navis didn't exist in Star Force was specifically to isolate Geo as much as possible prior to meeting Omega.

I think navis existed in starforce, they were used for specific things like driving a car

No, those were more analogous to Mr. Progs. Personal NetNavis who served specifically as people's companions don't exist anymore in Star Force 1 or 2. Wizards provide roughly the same function, but unlike Navis, don't seem to come standard with virus busting protocols. This is because people perform all their virus busting themselves.

                Anonymous

Might be the price they paid for EM tech. EM makes everything much more accessible, but NetNavis would have posed too much of a security risk. This is probably why all AI programs in Star Force have very specific roles and can't act beyond those roles. I'd imagine that they were only confident in introducing Wizards once they were sufficiently confident that their security protocols were good enough that ordinary people can't just hack whatever the frick they want as they please, and even then, Wizards seem to be overall less versatile and capable than NetNavis were in general, AMians/FMians notwithstanding.

Back in the old days, pretty much anyone and everyone could be more or less a makeshift hacker, so the only thing preventing people from attempting to hack whatever they wanted was because you had to be physically next to the thing you wanted to jack into. It was generally difficult to hack into government mainframes without physically infiltrating the government yourself, although there were a number of workarounds. This was why the majority of terrorist plots in MMBN required the terrorists to actually be physically at the scene of the crime.

Maybe with those iris and colonel programs that basically repair and police the internet, the need for virus busting stopped and they started to pursue technology to improve society, the em wave hard light tech seemed environmentally friendly until 3

More like a reimagining. Lan in late teens or early 20s, more realistic plot and characterization. Threat level should be smaller scale for the 1st game. Let MM jump, even in battle. Add 3-D models and shading. Ditch styles completely. Use crosses or souls or a system that’s a hybrid of those two. Let more powerful viruses and chips and navis appear earlier on, also navi customizer and crosses/souls.

Allow for co-op with expanded 5x5 field. Perhaps one plays as MM the other as Protoman. Play up Protoman’s role in the plot more like in Team Protoman cruise ship mission. With more buttons, allow for 2 charge shots for example wide sword and step sword. Limit the value of area grab so both sides always have a sideways T-shaped area at worst. Maybe even introduce a neutral purple one-row zone that both sides can use.

More likely than not, all the games are going to be the Wii U versions of the games. Meaning, expect each game to have these features:

        BN1
        >No access to Bass secret battle chip
        >No network play

        BN2
        >No network play. Network tab instead gives you all multiplayer exclusive battle chips in * code and the elemental Gospel chips (so you can actually perform the hidden Dark Messiah PA)
        >Hard Mode is available

        BN3:
        >Once again, no Network play, but the tab gets you the respective version-exclusive Navi chips (BowlMan B / MistMan M), Punk P, version-exclusive PvP chips (Balance Y / DeltaRayEdge Z), and BassGS X. All seven stars are obtainable so you can still unlock AlphaOmega

        BN4:
        >Network tab gives you all the Secret Chips except for GunDelSol EX. You do not get GrandPrixPower or Duo's chips.
        >You cannot do Free Tournaments with the opposing version's navi in your game, meaning you also cannot get their SP chips powered up to maximum either.
        >You can fight BassXX in Black Earth, but it requires a button code on the title screen.
        >No eReader card functionality

        BN5:
        >Network gives all secret chips, including the Boktai ones. You do not get LeadersRaid and ChaosLord.
        >You cannot boost opposing navi SP chips to maximum power.
        >Crossover mode is not available
        >You automatically get the Bass Cross style respective to your version, which also unlocks the Bass subquest to power him up to BassXX in post game.
        >No Progress Gate or eReader functionality (beyond the Bass Cross above)

        BN6:
Network unlocks all secret chips. You do not get DoubleBeast or the Cybeast giga chips (while the prior works if hacked in, the latter were fully deleted and crash the game.)
        >Cannot power up opposing version Navi SP chips to max power.
        >All eReader missions unlocked, allowing you to fight ProtomanFZ and BassBX
        >No eReader, crossover 2, or beast gate functionality at all.

And all signs so far point to no online functionality, so pirate away.

If they really did not put any effort into this collection and just slammed the ports on the switch I doubt I will buy it. Double Team DS was my first game of the series and if I only get an inferior version from the collection I dont really see the point of it.

I feel like Thomas was more creative because he comes up with the actual robot master ideas while albert was a better designer, since everything he ever did was refine ideas Light had before

        Anonymous

Wily did make plenty of original robot masters though. I'm pretty sure all of the robot masters in 2, 5, 7 and he co-built the robots in 3 with light. There's also all the big machines that are wily stage bosses he makes. He hasn't made as many originals as light maybe but he certainly made enough to call it no small accomplishment

I can easily see Capcom being a bunch of lazy fricks and just removing the content. Because that's exactly what happened with BN6.

        Anonymous

Capcom can be pretty fricking lazy, but don't pretend like Konami isn't petty enough to do that

I think they’re going to exclude the Japanese content and lock us out of all the exclusives and event chips. The collection already looks barebones as shit with no signs of an extra mode like the x collections and classic ones.

The Boktai stuff was in the localized games too except for 6.

                Anonymous

It happened in the same game because the 3 Boktai game never left Japan, hence why references to was removed

I reference Konami being a bunch of petty c**ts not just because Konami is fricking horrible these days, but because Boktai was one of Kojima's babies and Konami is just petty enough to want it gone completely in every version of the games.

                Anonymous

I don't buy that, because 5DS debunks it. Double Team was built around connecting with Shinbok, and Capcom went to the trouble of retooling the overseas release to work with Zoktai instead, even keeping Sol Cross available, a form created in reference to Sol Trance introduced in Shinbok.
It's far more likely that Capcom simply didn't want to pay licensing again for BN6. The only direct Shinbok reference in BN6 is the Casket Cycle, and they could have just as easily disabled only Crossover Battle 2 instead of EVERYTHING.

                Anonymous

Boktai was never something that big in the west, or anywhere really. Sales were probably a big reason why Capcom wouldn't bother to have them in BN6 despite already being in the game, don't get me wrong it's shit, but it makes practical sense

That said again, liscensing or not modern Konami probably wouldn't let them have it if they wanted to, because it's Kojima's non-Metal Gear baby, and if they aren't willing to do shit with Metal Gear outside of Smash out of sheer spite, why do you think they'd allow for an obscure RPG barely anyone remembers to be seen?

I hate going from 5 where lan’s three friends are sad as shit that they can’t help at all because their navis were taken to 6 where gutsman, roll, and glyde all fricking stand there and watch megaman, the person who saved them and the planet 5 times before, get sucked into a clowns hole. They don’t even try, it’s so infuriating how useless they were

      Anonymous

I feel like someone hated Lan's friends, because 4 - 6 is them at their worst. Not that Mayl/Roll or Yai/Glyde ever really got to do much to begin with.

        Anonymous

I'd argue 4 is Mayl/Roll at their best, considering how well they do in the tournament. Unless you count Battle Chip Challenge, I guess.

          Anonymous

On one hand, Mayl and Roll are actually taking part in a tournament, as opposed to BN3 where they jobbed to some random viruses.

On the other hand, Roll gets kidnapped by some random guy, needs to be saved as usual, and then tries to shame MegaMan for looking down on her. Which would probably have worked better if it was a story where she saved herself, in defiance of the usual way this event plays out. It's not helped by the fact that the story starts with her getting kidnapped as well.

Not really, the normal Mega Man timeline ended with Humans and Reploids becoming so similar that differences became negligible. Reploids were given artificial life spans, and humans were given integrated technology. Both were eventually called "Carbons" instead of humans and reploids.

A really fricking sad new interpretation of Mega Man that has a human brain inside of him due to an experimental medical treatment. He's treated as a freak by basically everyone, except for Dr. Light, who takes him in and tries to give him a good life after all he's lost. He eventually repays Light's kindness by defeating the Robot Masters, even though Light continuously tells him to not risk his life. Also it's oddly heartwarming because the people AND robots see this "Freak" going out of his way to save them, which makes him a hero in the eyes of the public.

      Anonymous

No that's stupid. Mega Man is a True A.I. If Mega Man had a human brain, that'd undermine the entire series. He's a robot, not a cyborg.

alpha would’ve caused a world war, nebula gray would’ve made everyone evil, honestly if copybots weren’t a thing I think the cybeasts wouldn’t be a super threat, they can be contained by modern tech

What's the consensus on the danger levels of the final bosses? The Cybeasts seemed like the most hyped threats going from memory.

        Life is just whatever.
Gospel was a literal mistake and Gregar-lite. Probably one of the weakest, if not the weakest.
Alpha is where it gets dangerous. It's an entire net onto itself and devours all programs. A big threat given time.
Duo brought a meteor with him. I'm pretty sure he wins.
Nebula Gray is dangerous because of soul net. Not really powerful by itself, but like evil, is hard to get rid of.
Cybeasts are the ultimate ooga booga enemies that can shake the entire net with their roars. Their Willy's final resort when all else failed. In terms of direct confrontation, they are the most dangerous.

Ultimately, it's Duo that's the biggest threat. He's not even destroyed like all the others are.

          Anonymous

          You're underselling Gospel.

      Anonymous

      Alpha is easily the strongest
So long as technology existed, Alpha could infect it. He could probably have infected Duo's comet as well.
Nebula Gray is nothing without SoulNet
The cybeasts were just stronger forms of Gospel. At the end of the day they were just programs that were easily contained
Duo would have outright obliterated the planet

Cybeasts did one better. They corrupted him.

first place is duo, he was ready to destroy the earth because justice and besides megaman only a dude that can use black holes could stop him

then it's alpha and nebula gray, alpha would start absorbing everything and nebula gray apparently corrupts everyone to be evil

the cybeasts while hyped i feel like we barely see what they would do, sure a giant wolf/lion and hawk/eagle could be dangerous but besides firepower idk how can they beat alpha unless i missed something and they can affect the real world too

then is gospel who is just a weaker gregar and the life virus and it's upgraded version who i don't even remember what was it's gimmick

No anon, I'm talking about the problem of writing the same story over and over but with a slightly different "megaman." They're just showing that over time the actions of the previous hero didn't matter, over and over again. The problem isn't that life will always have challenges, but that writing the story that way makes it impossible to care about the characters because you already know the pattern.

Oh are you talking about brand recognition? Yeah, companies will do that. Nothing we can do, especially since the common, ignorant masses don't actually give half a shit about exploring niche games, they just want the same recognizable figures over and over.
Doesn't mean battle network is bad, just that companies will always attempt to turn a profit and the sheep they sell games to don't care to make a change.
