my thoughts? with the metric frickton of both regular megaman games and very talented fangames like this one, why is the fanbase so upset the series is on hiatus?

      >why is the fanbase so upset the series is on hiatus?

They are as autistic as the Sonic fanbase. The Megaman franchise has so many games and they're all pretty similar, but for some reason they want more of this repetitive crap.

Main difference is that the Mega Man fanbase is significantly smaller than Sonics ever was. Only two Mega Man games ever broke a million copies, meanwhile the recent Sonic slop, Sonic Frontiers, sold 3,500,000 copies.

I remember seeing a tweet a while back that said that Mega Man didn't really have the same issues the Sonic fanbase did, like the ClassicModern split.

Except, the Mega Man community absolutely does, in retrospect.

Have you ever heard of Battle Network being described as some variety of Pokemon but with Mega Man? That is something that lingered from the days that Battle Network was new, from fans of ClassicXZero who didn't view Battle Network as being part of the same franchise at all. while also arguing that people who were fans of Battle Network weren't actually Mega Man fans.

Truthfully, much of the Mega Man community are just relentlessly bitter for anything other than their own works. It makes me wonder what the japanese side of the fandom makes of the whole mess, just glancing at japanese Twitter with some keywords did turn up a couple of posts about there being some notion of arrogance in our works. Like we think we know Mega Man better than literally anybody else.

What's the deal with the brazilian community, though? Aside from that weird comic.

This literally never happened. The only people who say this, haven't played them at all and have no relation to any other group of fans.

More insane schizophrenic nonsense. You must be some crybaby discord troony blabbering about people that nobody else has ever interacted with. Most retro gamers love mega Man and castlevania generally and just want more games.

I see you have no counter argument, Black person. Megaman is one of the single most popular series for retro gamers, get over it.

NTA, but it isn't as though much variation is really that apparent to someone totally unfamiliar with the series. If the common loop of a Mega Man game doesn't land with a person, there's not going to be much reason to try anything other than maybe Legends or Battle Network.

So much of the franchise depends on the same framework for gameplay, and although those series look different in aesthetics, how many games can be generally described with the pattern of "robot with ability to jump and shoot goes through 8 stages, fights a boss for each stage, goes through 4 fortress stages, one of which is one-on-one rematches with those 8 bosses, and fights a 2-phase final boss"?

There's a lot of variety... IF you're in to the series. Otherwise the surface details tend to look really same-y, which IMO is why the franchise nearly burnt out to begin with.

Then again, if you can't tell RayCrisis apart from R-Type apart from Zaxxon, then maybe you're the reductive idiot.

Yes, this applies to every gaming franchise you dumb Black person. That's what makes them sequels. Mega Man is no more samey than 99% of the other gaming franchises in existence.

So your whole point, like you, is moronic. Go back to to your troon discord server.

Also, shmups are the single most generic and samey genre in all of video games.

It was clear from post one, that you're dumb fricking criticism of mega Man, applies to all franchises. You're basically saying "it's bad cuz franchise". And it's particularly comical when you consider that between classic, X, Zero, ZX, Legends, and battle network, it actually has more variety that literally 99.99% of all gaming franchises.

                >If the common loop of a Mega Man game doesn't land with a person, there's not going to be much reason to try anything other than maybe Legends or Battle Network.

Obviously, this refers to the basic gameplay loop of *A* Mega Man game, which most games in the franchise share, to your point. You jump, you shoot, you fire energy shots that are often called lemons. It is generally what one will think of when they think "Mega Man". However, if that loop doesn't stick, then how different the games are from one another is not going to matter, no matter how much you scream "bUt aLl vIdEo gAmE fRaNcHiSeS wOrK tHiS wAy" at the top of your breath. The things those games in that franchise have in common will take precedence.

Only someone as stupid as you would argue against themselves and think they won.

Holy shit bro that's fricking deep. Kind of like how if you don't like generic shmup #2694 you won't like generic shmup #31657 because you're still just flying forward shooting out dots.

If you don't like dragon quest 4, you won't like dragon quest 7 because it's still a turn based jrpg instead of a fricking racing simulator.

You're a dumb Black person. From post 1, you basically said "mega Man bad cuz the sequels still have similar gameplay, except when they don't". And as previously stated, you're a moronic troony because this criticism is true for every other fricking gane series on earth, except a couple like the cluster frick that is final Fantasy from 11 onwards (and this is a bad thing btw).

In theory, a new Mega Man made by Capcom should be better and more interesting than one made by fans. There are many great fan games, but most of them take too much inspiration from the old games and don't innovate enough. On the other hand, Capcom usually plays too safe when it comes to Mega Man.

i'd consider myself part of the fanbase, and i'm fine with fangames--if they're good. the gripe i have with this demake is there's a lot of empty space.

also, another thing i like about fangames is they tend to get the attention of the developer, if only for C&Ds. i don't like fans getting sued or whatever, but usually if someone takes action against a fan developer, it probably means they have something in the works. so it's win-win for the players, assuming whatever game that comes out is good.

Looks neat. Will JKB just fricking release Corrupted already?

i don't know how i feel about that JKB guy. ever been to his twitch chat? jesus lord almighty everybody in there is a fricking moron. i mean, basically everyone in a given twitch chat is a fricking moron, but this is an especially bad case. you're also not allowed to discuss when the game's gonna come out. i get that insofar as there aren't many people working on it and perhaps there's a certain quality standard they're aiming at so they don't really know when it's coming out. on the other hand, that homosexual's been working on it way too long for a mega man game.

Idk, that guy giving a starcraft source code cd back to blizzard is still the most pathetic being in existence for me.

i'm not going to say i have much faith in that project, but there are plenty of gameplay videos out there, and they look quite good.

Because the more moderate voices in the community moved on, leaving the vocal minority of idiots to take over and influence the new influx of fans.

Now the fanbase does not personally care to count figures, soundtrack releases, artbooks, cameos, themed DLC packs, shows, game collections, fan works, general merchandise, and even new game releases that aren't Mega Man 11. Whenever any discussions of what Capcom has done for the brand comes up, there will be some absurd contortion of logic to say "CAPCOM HATES USSS!!!!!!" complete with the kind of rhetorical bullshit you'd expect to find in political "debates".

So it isn't even really a hiatus.

        >Why does a robot need breasts
Because Reploids were designed to have their own personalities and thoughs, so naturally the female ones will want to actually look female. It's a binary civilization.

It's nice, but it feels more like Corrupted than the SNES games. Bosses are even more over the top than the original, stage design is still very different from the other games and even the visuals (save for ones edited from the SNES games) look like a different style, though X3 already had that sort of thing. I don't like X8 much as is, so it wasn't particularly interesting to me, but it's fun. Shame to not see Zero or Axl, though.
