I've got less problem with the aesthetic than I do with it being another rehash of 'what if X became villain' and the fact the gameplay looked kind of slow, boring, and generic FPS weapons rather than cool Reploid powers.
Maybe I'm remembering wrong but I seem to recall it felt much slower than that. Considering it almost certainly would have been developed exclusively for consoles. And you used a boring-ass machine gun and grenades/rockets instead of a Buster with power collection.
If I were making a "gritty Megaman-setting FPS with an edgy artstyle" with the title Maverick Hunter, I would:
1) Make it the canon origin story game for Vile, leading up to the Day of Sigma. MHX already showed he equips like an FPS character.
2) Make it faster than what we were shown. Reploid combat happens in bullet time. Less Doom, more Ultrakill. Vile was S rank; show it.
3) Keep the title Maverick Hunter as it now has two meanings for being about Vile.
4) Vile and Sigma had much better characterization in the novelization about why they envy X so much. Bring that in.
5) Don't forget to keep at least some amount of platforming/acrobatics/navigation gameplay. What I saw was corridors.
6) Even if Vile uses weapons that are closer to conventional ones than X's powers, they should still be extreme examples.
i love vile too but we both know hes not popular megaman himself is just not popular
i never even seen autist talk about star wars bounty hunter and hes the original vile
megaman needs to sell units
we need conman back this is the true blackpill megaman fans can't swallow
It is a bit faster than I remember, but absolutely nothing about it says it has anything to do with Megaman. Machinegun primary with missile launcher and grenade secondary? Really?
I wonder if Retro was just having a tantrum over having just gotten away from the Metroid Prime slave mines and then being handed another IP with a protag whose defining features are a chargable arm cannon and the ability to get abilities from bosses.

That and the artstyle in general are the only things I'd keep about it. Magnet Grenade sounds like a legit boss power. But it should shoot from the Buster, not be thrown.
Why the frick was everything so expensive in this game? It takes maybe 8 hours to beat the game but grinding enough cash to buy everything takes another 50 hours of killing that same fricking gold bird over and over.
Legends games don't expect you to max out everything or even upgrade weapons you weren't planning to use. Especially on Very Hard which halves the value of zenny.
Grinding out a ton of money to fully upgrade the shining laser or homing missile is the equivalent of buying an in game cheat code. It's a crutch, and one the game discourages you from using by making it take a very long time to get there. It's the same as grinding to level 100 in a game you can beat at 20. There's really no reason to do it.
>grinding enough cash to buy everything takes another 50 hours of killing that same fricking gold bird over and over.
So I wasn't the only one that abused that trick. You guys know how to quick-kill it, right?
So I finally got Legends working on the Vita, and boy was it a trip.
>had to use retroarch (since adrenaline and native emulation doesn't work too well, tons of broken textures and slowdown) >no R2/L2 bumpers so you had to rebind them to the control sticks >BUT you have to go to to the right rebind screen. there's 2 of them, but only one actually works >for some reason the memory card doesn't persist between loads, so have to resort to save states >have to make sure the game automatically loads the state on startup, or else all of the progress will be lost

the game play looks exactly like the doom remakes which were very successful

Tapping forward to shoot faster? Otherwise, I don't know.
Run up to it, pick it up, and throw it. The next shot you hit it with will instant kill it.
Well shit, that's good to know. Thanks!
It's a life saver on the harder difficulties.
At least he's not ConMan
