Megas don't fundamentally change the way the game is played like Z-Moves and Dynamax do.
They're more like a handful of new OP mons that have to hold certain items.
Calling them a gimmick is like calling Zacian and Zamazenta's crowned formes gimmicks.

They need to stop making gimmicks that every pokemon can use. Megas did it best, and having exclusive Z moves came close, but most of the time the dynamaxing/z moves get used on already strong pokemon making them stronger.

and megas fix this…how exactly? Now you just get an even more broken Salamence and Blaziken than before while Pokemon like Grumpig or Zebstrika are left even weaker because they can’t even use the gimmick to begin with.
because when megas are designed correctly and not moronicly they boost pokemon that were shit before like absol, mawile, even charizard. but gamefreak is moronic so instead we got shit like mega mewtwo and primals
