It's both happy and sad, and an inmesureable assortment of feelings in between.
It's unironically just you wanting to be a child again because that was when you were innocent and didn't have heavy things weighing on your mind. That's all nostalgia ever was.
But what if I already felt that nostalgic/melancholic feel back then when I was a kid while playing the sailor moon game? Was I remembering a past life?
This soundtrack is so hard to place, I like it yet it's not tuneful and very random, it is however nice at conveying an unusual atmosphere. Sailor Moon R on SNES gets https://youtu.be/2pwUX1_uGg4 however - I used to hate this game's ost based on playing as far as the first stage and finding it 'unsuiting' but as a melancholic interlude it's similar and just used for fighting through Christmas decorated Juuban.
That SM game has a great OST. I feel the composer captured the feel of the music from the anime series, and made original songs. It sounds fantastic with that Mega Drive sound.
I have yet to play the Super Nintendo beat 'em ups. I know the first one is basically similar to the Mega Drive game but with some changes. I assume different music too. I wanna play it and the sequel.
I loved that music, if that plays on a xmas stage, then yeah it's very fitting.
Anyway I like when there's a sort of gap between the music and what's happening on the screen. Like playing peaceful or whimsical music while heavy action is going on, it makes for a good contrast sometimes.
Music from the DBZ Butoden games come to mind, especially Super Butoden 2.
this one is a classic and yet it's only a piano piece, like a sort of classical toccata. It wouldn't seem like it'd fit a fighting game, yet it does, it's very tense yet at the same time beautiful and melancholic.
Then there's Zangya's theme
This one sounds like it'd fit an RPG, like music when you're exploring the woods or something. Yet I really love how comfy it is and gives battles a sort of lighthearted feel. it's funny playing Broly vs Bojack with Zangya's theme hehe.
The original Juuban theme is fricking golden. I like how even Another Story reused it as it's peak comfy. The arrange version on Sailor Moon Game Music is fricking lit. https://youtu.be/rpYGKEPStyk
Yeah I know, bmups are more fun 2player and most of the time built around that, but I still like that game. I have fond memories of playing it with my friend, taking turns per life/level.
>Remember watching Sailor Moon when I came home from school almost 25 years ago >Always like the bright colorful characters, the outfits, wanted to collect merchandise of them and dress up like them for Halloween >Never thought about the deeper aspects of the show >Grow old and make good money >Buy the entire redone manga collection >Realize the entire premise of the show is a bunch of girls that are cursed to live and die forever >They can't even live their lives like girls should, they always have to protect the queen and eventually die for her someday.
And in that moment I finally understood why ignorance is truly bliss.
Not to say I don't enjoy Sailor Moon still but it def carries a different meaning now for me that I understand what its about.
>Sailor Moon is about teenage girls being unable to enjoy life because they're aware they're caught in a death loop and are destined to die in combat soon.
I'm a zoomer and have hardly any memories of Sailor Moon, but I had no idea the premise was that dark. How on the nose is the series about this stuff? The series is still ultimately a silly show about Japanese Barbies with superpowers hanging out and fighting generic evil, right?
The show, yes. The original manga, far from it. The prequel manga Sailor V was more in line with the anime, but even that got dark near the end as it approached the inevitable moment where Minako swears her life to Usagi.
For the most part yea, the girls do enjoy life but often times have to sacrifice themselves for the princess, like the entire first battle with queen Beryl is all the scouts killing themselves so Sailor Moon can get to her.
The entire galaxia scenario also has the scouts dying one by one till its just a massively grief wracked Usagi left.
yeah on the surface it seems like a very girly show, then you watch it and realize it's very action-based with fights, sort of like Power Rangers, but with all hot chicks instead of just 1 or 2.
Nostalgia is a profoundly sad feeling
It's both happy and sad, and an inmesureable assortment of feelings in between.
like RAGE THAT THINGS AREN'T HOW THEY USED TO BE

Weird dreamlike osts thread?

My melancholy is more potent

I'm very grateful to Takanori Arisawa for instilling in me a good taste in music from a young age. All Sailor Moon tunes is something special.
After TMNT: Shredder's Revenge, I'm personally wishing that someone would make a new beat-em-up for Sailor Moon in the same style.
this game sucks because its only 1 player. whats the point of making a beat em up without multiplayer? lazy ass devs.
Yeah I know, bmups are more fun 2player and most of the time built around that, but I still like that game. I have fond memories of playing it with my friend, taking turns per life/level.
Mario is Melancholic
soundtrack is easily the best thing about that game

The Nephrite stuff was really sad

As a child I always thought Sailor Moon was for massive gays

I guess today they have RWBY for that
Always had a melancholic vibe to me.
that image reminds me of Power Rangers movie game
Can't even browse /vr/ anymore without some subhuman going
>I'm a troon btw xd
Holy shit who fricking asked.
As a 90's kid, Sailor Moon the show or the games always remind me of better times -- for the lost loves I never had and a society that looked like me.
Maybe obscure but a big one for me.
This one too.
