New update for this thing just dropped that enables automatic cloud saves, though for now it only supports Google Drive.
Now when are we getting that wireless bluetooth controller and PS2 ISO loading support?

I'm tired of boomers putting wifi in their mods in dumb and unnecessary ways
The SoC it runs off has built in WiFi and Bluetooth anyway, it wasn't added additionally, so might as well use it if the hardware is already there I suppose. It's an ESP32 device, a very poplar SoC that you can get dev boards of for stupidly cheap, in some cases for around a dollar, so it's not like not having WiFi and Bluetooth could have made it any cheaper.
For now
What service do you prefer to use BTW?

NextCloud
NC is great, but it's not nearly popular enough to justify integrating support into hipster toys. It's also not popular enough to have lots of tard friendly howtos available for trivial tasks. What you want to accomplish is pretty easy. But it's one of those things where if you don't already know that you probably couldn't do it even if someone spoon fed you. Better just stick to trying to figure out how to shitpost on /vr/ using your mister.
I've seen flash carts with wifi. They seemed to be mostly targeted at developers. There are also wifi SD cards, but most are pretty shit. Of course, with a few basic skills someone can mod/make devices to do nearly anything they want.
This. I demand that muh bogeymen don't use any feature of a chip I don't want to use. When I'm not using all the RAM in my PC I open I up and remove the unused RAM. I demand everyone do the same.
Enjoy your online PS1 memory card with wifi you fricking dork, does it scan your butthole before the big crash bandicoot boss battle?
It scanned yours and detected massive butthurt
Yeah I'm just being an butthole. If it has a wifi module built in, might as well make ftp a thing over it since it's free.
Not just FTP, it also hosts a web server so you can configure it and manage the saves through a browser rather than through the buttons on the device itself. IIRC you can update the firmware that way too. It does have convivence uses other than just being able to FTP your files.
So... don't use the WiFi? You can just turn the WiFi radio off and never configure it to connect to your network. I never used the SuperCD, CF reader, or photo viewing options of my PS3, doesn't mean I refused to get a PS3 because it had those features.
In my day, we had multiple cards, and when one filled up you'd have to copy saves to another, and the cards were expensive, and they'd go bad
And we liked it, damn it. We liked it.
I too liked, but I hated deleting stuff, specially data with unlocks for multiplayer stuff. I don't use the GameID because I'm not into automatized stuff and I like lurking the memcard icons, I prefer storing stuff by game genres.
Too bad there was no DexDrive for the PS2.
But does it support gopher [Y/N]?
Only if you install the firmware off of an 8 inch floppy disk.
The VM2 doesn't even have wifi and it makes me sour.
>it only supports Google Drive
meh
Is there a way to retroactively enable the GameID feature for cards you already created?
does this already support being able to sync the saves to devices on your local network? I have syncthing on my PC and Steam Deck, would be cool to also add in real consoles to that process
I don't believe there is, you can access the files from a web interface or FTP, but I don't think it currently has an auto-sync to a local system. I guess you could always setup a FTP script from your end.
neat, FTP would do the trick. I wish flash carts for other systems had that same functionality to make copying ROMs/saves easier
Most flash carts rely on a FPGA, having WiFi would be additional hardware in most cases. The main SoC that the Memcard Pro 2 is built around already has WiFi and Bluetooth built in, which is likely why they bothered.
The original first versions of the Memcard Pro 1 actually did have a FPGA chip on top of the ESP32, but it turns out that not only was the FPGA not needed but it actually caused worse compatibility.
Saving to a cart can also be a bit more complicated depending on the game than on a memory card. Games usually don't constantly write to the memcard but it is possible for a cart to constantly write to it's internal memory. The cheaper versions of the N64 everdrive for example require you to reset to actually write the save to the sd card. ROMS are also significantly larger than saves.
Yeah I figured cost/complexity/demand is why it hasn't happened
My use case is that I like to play stuff on my PC, Wii with emulators and original hardware so I find myself pulling the SD cards out of the flash carts and manually syncing them to my RA folder. It's a huge pain but probably doesn't matter unless you have autism about it like me
No one answered my question...
No one knows who you are or what quested you asked, Einstein
Can you retroactively enable the GameID feature for VMCs you already created, assface.
I think for that, you should rename the folder and memory cards to what the GameID uses/recognizes
So both the card and folder need to be renamed? Maybe that's why it didn't work for me when I tried it.
Yes, crybaby
um new things don't make old things disappear, sweaty.
new things make old things irrelevant and silly to recommend, sweaty
>posted from my nintendo switch
You need to go back
>cloud saves
Yeah, just like I liked about older consoles, useless bullshit.
I'd buy these memory cards if they didn't have this stupid wifi horseshit. Why the frick would I ever want wireless anything in my retro peripherals.
>i'd buy this piece of hardware if it didn't have this thing inside that i'd never see or use
Where? The official firmware release page hasn't been updated since February.
Apparently it's only on their Discord for now? I think it's because it's a beta update.
>Discord
I see, thank you but I'm not trans.
It's up on their site now:
https://install.appcenter.ms/orgs/beta-ucu9/apps/memcard-pro2/distribution_groups/public
>ISO loading
Just load from HDD or SMB.
>SMB
um it's UDPBD now sweaty
Surprised I'm just now hearing about this. Time to hunt down a tutorial so I can upgrade my Linux server. I suppose now is as good a time as any since I updated my FreeMcBoot install and installed MechaPwn.
Hmm, looking into it a bit and it seems to only work with external storage devices or partitions formatted a particular way and the load time difference is minimal at best.
