Pavlov and Blade & Sorcery are the only gun and sword games you need
Don't get drawn in by the 3000 clones of them
>the only gun and sword games you need
There was a multiplayer duel game with samurai, pirate, barbarian and stuff where they solved the "just flail madly around" problem by directly making the damage scale with how close to "real" physic your movement were.
So if you took a fat axe you had to do slow, long movement for the hit to do more than 0 damage, and if you took a rapier only thrusting movements would do anything.
Looked really interesting but I can't find again what the frick was the name.
Anyone here played it and can say if that mechanics was a great idea or bullshit in actual play?
Broken Edge?
Yes, that's the name!
Did you play it?
Theres actually a lot of differences with vr shooters. Pavlov is like vr csgo, Contractors is vr COD, tactical assault is like vr swat 4, etc. The games have the same basic idea, but have different mechanics and gameplay like normal fps games do.
Into the Radius
Pistol Whip
Walkabout
Team Beef ports of RTCW, Doom 3, prey, and the Jedi Knights games
No Man's Sky and Skyrim
I played a ton of shit on my set.
Aside of everything said already, I'd add Alien Isolation with MotherVR. It's perfect for VR. Also Subnautica.
Mostly everything sucks HARD compared to Alyx though, be warned.
what headset do you have? thanks
Rift S, it's shit
But I don't think I missed out much not having a Quest 2.
Index is obviously better but I'm talking games not performance.
Quest 2 probably not but Quest 3 is a big enough upgrade to be worth it
isnt Quest 3 the best now?

Broken Edge = Decent 1v1 Sword Play
Vox Machina = Mechwarrior 1 & 2 Feels
Pavlov = CS & War FPS
Blade & Sorcery = potential of RPG
The rest are standard games
Beat Saber
VR Chat Rooms
Ruins Magus is nice
So is Star Wars Squadron
the only actually good games are beat saber and pistol whip
if you want high quality games on pc there is only hl alyx
the shitty ass psvr had more high quality games
Into the Radius, it’s VR Stalker.
Anthro Heat, hope ypu have fun OP 🙂
Yiffalicious is better, despite being animation viewer. That fox is something.
Plays like shit. The tracking is the worst I've seen in a VR game. Your head level never matches your body after moving for a bit and there's no way to reset it.
Ain't paying 10 dollars a month to play that
Compound
Project Wingman
Overload
Star Wars Squadrons
House of the Dying Sun
VTOL VR
Or, if you're autistic enough, proper flight sims
so far, I think sims are where vr shines. Not really games, but they're still fun. MS flight sim and DCS are really fun if you can get into them. As far as real games go, Alyx and Resident Evil games (6, village, re4) were the ones I enjoyed the most. Recently tried the cyberpunk VR mode and it made me "wow" for a few minutes but then it got boring, just like the regular game.
and VR chat as well. It's moronic fun, but still counts. I can't get into it while sober tho.

Any casual flying/driving sim? I have asseto corsa and its awesome but Its not the same without a wheel, pedals and all that crap.

warplanes ww1
warplanes battles over the pacific
warplanes air corp
but pcvr is the king of vr flight sims
>warplanes ww1
>warplanes battles over the pacific
These looks comfy standalone. Wich one is better/more complete?
Nah I m ostly use VR for PCVR FPS, not a sim guy, I like playing sometimes but not worth to invest money and space buying all the set up.
oh samba de amigo is out
battles over the pacific is much better than ww1 simply cause ww2 is better than ww1
if you are a history buff, you'll love both, if you want fun dogfights, go with ww2 pacific
air corp has weird helicopter controls, I haven't played it much, but it's by the same developer, so it should be good
just get a fkin wheel ac in vr is godly
>ac in vr is godly
People always say that but AC looks like dogshit and custom maps are double dogshit. I was excited about all the touge tracks before I tried them and saw how absolutely disgustingly ugly they are. I'd rather play Project Cars 2, that game looks amazing in VR. Especially on city tracks, especially in the rain
>Project CARS 2 is no longer available on the Steam store.
Thank you anon
>removed from sale "due to expiring car and track licenses"
Lmao what the frick. Piracy chads win again. If you want the prettiest comfiest racing experience in VR, it's definitely Pcars 2, and it works great on a controller too
>best VR games are now getting old
>devs do zero support for them and they're now becoming abandonware
Haha. Can't wait for Lone Echo 1-2 to become completely unavailable because Zucc gives zero fricks about PCVR. This medium really is cursed
silly lad AC doesn't mean assetto corsa it means ace combat! have you been trying to steer the fighter jets with a wheel and pedals?
HONK HONK
DCS world is free to download and there are a couple free planes you can try. definitely worth it for the VR experience if your pc can run it.

if you've never played myst for pc, you might wanna check out the vr version, but myst is really shit, I have no idea why it was popular in the 90s, the puzzles are pure shit

>have no idea why it was popular in the 90

a mortal kombat game in vr would be pretty neat

My personal list:

>High Tier
Blade & Sorcery, Hellsweeper, Stride, Swords of Gargantua
>Decent Tier
Altair Breaker, Sairento, Superhot
>Meh Tier
Battle Talent, Zenith
will unreal vr allow this to be real?
No, without other hypothetical mods.
It's easier to make vr brawler from ground up.
If you're taking about something like a gesture input, those will have to be done by a differnt setup, like a Kinect.
VR mods for fighting games are going to be used for a more coomer perpose.
this looks heaps fun

PUNCHOUT NES IN VR
>thrill of the Fight mixed reality in my living room
Its actually nice that it tracks your speed/force of your punchs and with new Quest3 controllers you can guard without the rings of the previous controllers touching. Just a couple of fights and im already sweating like a fricking pig.
Not comfy
Boxing games in VR always end with me pulling my shoulder. Throwing punches into air is not good exercise
Holy shit you are right now my shoulder hurts. I think that I will keep focused on beat saber and synth riders as always
I also like Eleven Table Tennis for light exercise. It's basically just real life ping pong and I love ping pong. It's a perfect sport for VR, everything about it can be perfectly emulated, even the weight of the controllers is just right, you almost forget it's not real
wtf, shadow of the collosus vr fangame lol

>Batman Arkham VR

>Rick & Morty
if you desperately need your Roiland-fix then play Thrower Saves the Universe in VR instead
>Psychonauts in the Rhombus of Ruin
it's a very short, gimmicky adventure game and you lose absolutely nothing by watching a playthrough on Youtube instead
>Superhot VR
the devs are total cucks that removed a suicide scene while belittling their customers - pirate an older version
I liked Arkham VR, sure it's just a tech demo but a really cool one, worth checking out
>recommending flat platformers with VR mods
That's just weird, not even sure what that adds
Third person and "2D" platforming games are some of the more underrated things you can do in VR.
When done well you get a neat "dollhouse" (or in Hellblade's and Yooka Laylee's case "pursuer") effect and you can't really complain about stuff like unfair camera placement, jumps and the like anymore since, well, YOU are the camera and can freely look and walk around.
I have a Pico4 and there's a game I got bundled in named Down the Rabbit Hole, which is basically a spin on Alice in Wonderland (again). It's a side-scroller VR game and you're totally right on how the doll-house effect gives off an interesting feeling. It's like you're seeing a diorama of mini characters unfolding right in front of you, and there are some level elements that you can directly interact with your hands to assist the little charcters. This made me kinda want to make my own 3d side scroller VR game lol.
I fell for compound. Uses the "roguelike" meme to hide that the game has no content. Once you've played for like 10 minutes you've experienced everything there is in the game. Reskinned randomly generated corridors.
These games aren't roguelikes they're just people too lazy to make a proper single player campaign. Oh and frick anyone who makes a VR sandbox game too.
are there any pc to vr mods of older games that have multiplayer alongside desktop crossplay
it's not a mod but payday 2
Gunfire Reborn
Deep Rock Galactic
Risk of Rain 2

Valheim
Mechwarrior 5
Lone Echo
Walkabout Minigolf, shit's great.
Here are my favorites. A lot of shit people recommend I never really got into. Traditional FPS games in VR got boring real fast for me and there's not a single hack and slash game in VR that doesn't suck even though the mechanic is fun
Lone Echo 1-2
Pistol Whip
Rez Infinite Area X
Tetris Effect
Robo Recall
Eleven Table Tennis
Superhot VR
Saints and Sinners 1-2

>list of recommended games
>they're all 2-3 years old
every time
Seems like once Quest shit took off, lots of devs focused on porting their stuff into Quest instead of making new games. PSVR2 was such an abomination it never really sparked a resurgence in development
Not a game but Bigscreen is great for watching movies.
Im a 30yo boomer addicted do "dance" anime songs on beatsaber
I've got you beat, I'm 35 and I'm dancing to anime songs in beat saber at least twice a week. The more I play the less efficient I get, I'm at a point where I jump up for higher notes now, I will never move from Hard to Expert with this playstyle
Propagation: Paradise Hotel is an amazing survival horror game
worst part about it is that it's too short
Same ones that were good 3 years ago, this shit isn't getting any games lol
oh wtf
when did teambeef do DUKE NUKEM 3D?!
too bad I played it last year in flat mode, and I enjoyed it more than most recent games
Like a month ago. Early versions like a year ago didn't even have 3dof
wtf?! when did teambeef do PREY?!
it wasnt team beef, says in the title
kinooooooooooo
I'm designing a VR game.
What do you guys feel about VR game that doesn't use fps view?
Imagine a game like Moss.
Or that spaceship game in valve's The Lab.
I love 3rd person vr games, go for it
in fact I'm making one right now, it's going to be like god hand, dark souls or ac6, haven't decided yet
>What do you guys feel about VR game that doesn't use fps view?
It's gimmick that do not use VR strengths.
But that doesn't mean the game will be bad.
You could force it to develop different strengths, it would just probably be weird by necessity. If you're not doing that though, then it doesn't feel like there's much point.
Camera positioning outside of the player's perspective is more permissive if you aren't literally the camera, it's looked at as a necessary component of the experience that you don't need to really do anything with, having the player act out being a 3rd person camera in VR does away with that illusion because it is a deliberate step outside of the norm.
Beyond just gameplay gimmicks, you're going to need to make the environment do a lot of work for you, to make the player choose beneficial ways of looking around of their own volition.
Some films may metaphorically consider the camera a character in its own right and that's pretty much the approach you'd have to take.
You played demeo? I want to play any kind of games from that viewpoint where I interact with either the interface from a god's eye view and I move my hands around to either move pieces.
I'm thinking like a strategy game even. However if you want to make money you should make a flat version that's playable with KBM.
Heres my list, i played most big VR titles and lots of indies, for me current VR wave is a waste of time, a failed console with no games, the Wii but you glue a TV to your face
pistol whip - if you like waggle, much better than the "memorize the track" beat saber and all those crappy games have going on
red matter - 1 and 2 if you like puzzle games
lone echo - for adventure
vertigo 2 - if you want to play a hl1 era mod in VR, i would give it a solid 6/10
HL:Alyx - for that one and only AAA VR game
RE4VR - best port of a VR game by far
VR chat - if you are into larping as a furry and meeting people
And ... thats all
you got a million half assed indie games, like walking dead saints and sinners, into the radius or i expect you to do die and so on, but honestly, they are forgettable shovelware
rest of VR gaming space is a nightmare of crap
Bonelabs, boneworks, blade and sourcery, h3VR and the like are all shitty unfinished tech demos sandboxes
pavlov, population one, contractors and the like are clones of better flat screen games
skyrim VR, no mans sky and all those other VR port just play like shit, those games were not made for VR
and a million PCVR mods for normal games, only one worth a try is Portal 2 VR and HL2VR, dont bother with anything else.
I have yet to try star wars sqauadrons, so maybe that one will go to "worth a try" list when i get fricking EA client to work.
>half assed indie games, like walking dead saints and sinners
Come on now, it's a solid 7/10. No masterpiece but neither is Red Matter. Just solid games if you're into their genres. Same for I expect you to die, those are solid puzzle games for puzzle game enjoyers. Into the Radius is cheap slop though.
I didnt hate saint and sinners, but its a repetitive simplistic mobile tier game, with tiny level design, draw distance of something running on a potatoe clearly limited by Vram size, it just feels "old" like it cant jump over the tech limits
Expect you to die and all other "first time VR" experiences are fine, but those are not system sellers or anything aimed at hardcore audeince
Thats my problem with VR as a whole, the only people playing it, especially on PC, are huge tech nerds who know how to plug it in who are all hardcore gamers, yet the games are aimed at a nintendo audience who would have no idea how to get PCVR on Quest 2 or 3 running
Im long past being impressed by games like Bonelab or Superhot, i want actual content not proof of concept vertical slices.
go play tales from galaxy's edge
?t=257
the game was good until that level
>go play tales from galaxy's edge
looks like a 1 hour "VR EXPERIENCE" from that clip lol
wrong Black personface
what?
normie 2 hours usyally means 1 hour normal person play
part1 is 3hrs
part2 is 3hrs
there is only one part on stores from what i see
Part 2 is DLC for part 1, and they’re bundled together on PSVR2.
>other "first time VR" experiences are fine, but those are not system sellers or anything aimed at hardcore audeince
It's not "hardcore" in that it's not a shooter but it's still a proper well realized puzzle game.
>repetitive simplistic mobile tier game
I don't agree with you at all, the game has a lot of cool weaponry and interesting combat/horror situations, I don't see what's simplistic about it at all. Looks a bit basic but it's not a basic game, although it is a little short. Just a solid 7/10 survival horror game.
wtf is this? this is awesome
Is F-Zero GX worth a shot in VR? It's my favorite game but I'm unsure if the VR works well enough
just try it and find out
Anyone else get a dead pixel on their Quest 3? Trying to figure out whether I should return it and risk a worse one or just live with the one black speck
you got zucced
I got a blue stuck pixel on my first one, my second one had two blue stuck pixels, my third one is good.
I'm actually OK with the strap but still want a power strap.
The Quest 3 headstrap sucks ass, has Bobo or someone said when they're releasing non-shit straps?
Unbelievable they shipped such a shit default solution
I've seen some youtubers shill an off brand strap for Q3, apparently it's already there
>cool looking VR game made by Insomniac
>Oculus exclusive
>cannot be bought anymore for whatever reason
It basically doesn’t even exist anymore thanks to facebook
Fricking cucks
>cannot be bought anymore for whatever reason
most likely they haven't updated the game in a while and it doesn't work on current firmwares so they disabled purchases until the dev gets their act together
Just pirate it. Same with Lone Echo and Robo Recall, who can be arsed to actually buy stuff from some weird Oculus store. Just pirate those
Can’t play co-op then but if it doesn’t become available ever again then it is what it is
>for whatever reason
probably related to insomniac getting bought by sony.
the game wouldn't exist without facebook money. btw it's not even that good i dropped it after an hour.
H3VR is pretty fun, especially modded. Compound is a roguelike boomer shooter, but the vibrant colors and pixel graphics make my eyes hurt after a while, even though I can spend hours in other games totally fine.
I'm gonna recommend Until You Fall, it's my personal favorite VR hack and slash
I tried it and it felt like beat saber but worse and with extra steps.
doesnt feel like fighting at all
Anyone else surprised by how good the controllers are? My Rift S would sometimes feel "sticky" where you would lose tracking because of occlusion when holding two handed guns. Quest 3 controllers feel flawless.
They’ve poured millions of Zuck bucks into the tracking algorithms, it’s the best inside out you can get.
one thing that worries me is will any other hardware maker come close to it?
what if valve's standalone tracking sucks? will it even have hand tracking? will it have mixed reality?
>will any other hardware maker come close to it?
Probably not, unless they copy the Touch Pro controllers and have cameras in them.
>Quest 3 controllers feel flawless.
i also like the design, i know they dont feel like "real guns" or what ever, but they feel like great game controllers
only outer strap is needed for really long gaming sessions
Horror games are the best in VR. I can recommend The Room, Nevrosa, Organ Quarter, and Dement.
>The Room
>Horror Games
What?
It's not even a good puzzle game.
The aesthetic is nice though
Currently breachers gets all my time. It's basically rainbow 6 in vr
Yeah except low budget and janky as frick. At that point just play the better flat game
Nah flat sucks now. Trying to play flat after playing vr is like trying to play in a mobile phone seated 5feet away from you. Vr is bigger than a bigscreen tv. You're literally enveloped by your environment
Boneworks - strong half-life inspiration, fun, if you don't have VR legs you will by the end of it.
Cosmodread - there is so little VR horror that isn't remotely shit. FPS horror roguelite experience in VR.
Dreadhalls is similar in high fantasy, but no combat and somehow MUCH more terrifying. But less fun? I guess I just like combat.
Half life 2 VR mod is free if you half HL2
Superhot VR is really fun. I'd steal it though, it's short.
Yupitergrad was super fun, but short.
Fallout4VR mod pack is cool, but the person who put together the mod pack, gingasVR is an insufferable troony who will not only ban you from any VR spaces they moderate but will try to get any accounts you use anywhere banned if you say something it doesn't like.. Just do not interact with the moron - they have virtually no influence and are constantly mad about it.
I like VR but VR devs kind of suck. They are annoying like cryptogays, and many ideas are just recycled and unoriginal, uninteresting. I hate apple but I hope they push VR to a critical usermass and we see real devs branch over.
>is an insufferable troony
She is femoid from the birth,
VR's main problem is Japanese devs barely make games for it. That's why games suck so hard. I wouldn't mind playing janky indie games if they also featured cute girls
Japanese games just suck. Phil Fish was right on this one. Immersive, first person — japanese are aversed from those things throughout all gaming history.
>japanese are aversed from those things
And yet 90% of VR porn is JAV. You can't fool me, they're just bad at developing for new technology, as always. This is early HD era all over again
>You can't fool me, they're just bad at developing for new technology, as always
That nation haven't made even a FPS. Well, except new resident evils.
kings field is peak gaming though so you're wrong
Inferior to Ultima Underworld.
ultima underworld is pretty great too, but I personally find KF more engaging and fulfilling to play
2 3 and 4, at least
1 was just the foundation for what came after
Anyway, they dropped first person and never came back, so point still stands.
play purin boxing for kino ryona experience
I actually tried to but couldn't get it to launch in a proper VR mode and just gave up. It's not worth an extra half an hour of fiddling with options
I like h3vr
Into The Radius is so fricking good bros
is there an easy way to play flat games through pcvr?
sometimes i just wanna _ean back and get comfy with a controller
with the quest 3's resolution i think it's just good enough to pull it off
>_ean back
Are you a Facebook marketer, you don't speak like a human
You have been chosen. They will come soon.
Virtual Desktop
Steam link sideloaded also works. Will even let you use it like touchscreen (better for quest 3 cause hand tracking on quest 2 is unusable)
Unironically Skyrim VR with mods.
Modded Skyrim VR is the best VR experience you can have. (so long as it has loverslab mods)
>Ctrl+F Outer Wilds
>phrase not found
¯_(ツ)_/¯
Deisim is a good god sim if that's your kind of thing.
I shill Into The Radius to everyone I run into so get that one, it's awesome.
I know it says it's not for quest but that's only if you're going for wireless right?
I only want to use a wired connection since my WLAN is shit
If you're doing a wired connection, you don't need virtual desktop.
