Mercurio : a new interactive narrated space-opera story.

Hi everyone, I'd like to introduce you to a space opera fiction that I've just launched. It's an interactive story set in Mercurio, an opulent city-state at the crossroads of the universe.

The story develops based on your choices. Each episode presents a decisive alternative. I will let the survey for one day or two, and the choice who gets the most votes will be taken and will decide the future of the story. It is a branched story with a plot, so eventually, all choices will be explored in time.

What's the plot? You'll have to discover it, but I can say that if you're a fan of cosmic horror, lovecraftian cults, and cyberpunk dystopias, you'll love it. The only thing I can say is that a menace is slowly spreading at the heart of the city of metal. Your choices will decide its fate.

The story is entirely narrated in french, with english subtitles, and illustrated with midjourney. Check the first episode here :

Why should I ? It's not a commercial project. I just want to make people have fun with this story, mainly because I was inspired by a lot of threads here. What can I say ? Either people will want to discover this or not, dude.

Honestly, I don't larp the " AI artist " thing at all. I don't pretend the AI things are " my work " baka, my work is the story and the plot, the AI illustrations are just there to add some visuals.

As for Ganker, this is an interactive novel, so it have its place here.

        >this is an interactive novel, so it have its place here
It does not, this board is for traditional games, which an interactive novel isn't. Frick off.

Well, it's at least inspired by the sci-fi and classical rpg games, and as I said a lot of /humanity frick yeah/ threads I have read here. Ganker kinda look with contempt at anything that is out of the classical canon, so I thought from all boards this would be the one where people might enjoy this short fiction the most.

Congrats on launching your work. I'll check this out this weekend. Also, regarding the buy an ad comment, he's not entirely wrong. Next time you post this, you should do some combination of the following at the start of your OP:

    >be clearer about what it is
    >say how this connects to /tg/
    >say how you're inspired by /tg/, and be specific about which games
    >be respectful to board culture and when someone hits at you, you gracefully flip it into a good thing or, better yet, make it funny (ex. "I spent my ad budget on cocaine, avocadoes and the newest kickstarter for kingdom death but hey at least you don't have to spend any money to check out my cool new project")
    >avoid fricking r*ddit spacing
    and, perhaps most importantly
    >consider releasing worldbuilding stuff for your project as a universal setting supplement free to go along with your interactive fiction; this creates an instant nexus to /tg/, might actually be cool, and proves that you're not a homosexual.

    Good luck anon

Yeah, I must admit my work was poorly presented. I was just eager to show it. I mean, I understand how this can seem like shameless advertising, but I just wanted to share my work because I think people here can like it. The rpg aspect is kinda small, it's more an interactive novel with various choices, but it take some inspiration from the " Humanity, frick yeah!" threads that I like reading here. Although, it is more a classical space opera fiction. Anyway, hope that you will like it.

I thought it was going to be shit, I was so wrong. You french had kino like Valerian and Black Moon Chronicles an Metal Hurlant which are good memories of mine.

Great combination of story and slop. Reminds me of the CYOA space opera refugee adventure. Picture related.

Thanks so much dude, yeah those cyoa threads inspired me a lot, but I'm really bad at presenting my stuff. But yeah, it's the beggining, I have prepared something like 25/26 episodes with a coherent plot. Tbh I'm still hesitating wether to release it progressively, episode by episode with collective votes in the comments, or to send it in one video, with choices inside the video to navigate between the episodes. So to play it like a community thing with collective votes deciding the following of the adventure, or more an individual game. Will depends if people start to get interested !

Releasing it progressively sounds ideal, is short and inspiring. Announce it once in a while on the cyoa threads and try to reach other places. The format is good, french voice with english subs gives it a personality. I'd say keep it up because is a very young channel and you'll need months to see more traffic. I know sounds daunting but that is how streaming work.

Unironically share it on reddit and other spaces, like the weekly fic showcase on r/fanfiction on in r/imaginaryfuturism.

        Good luck I'll be watching.

That's really cool, I'm happy that you enjoy it ! Yeah that's what I will do I think.
I know it will take time, thing is, like it's an interactive story, it's better if people interact with the choices, hence why I created a thread here at the beginning. I understand the critics with " buy an ad " tbh, this could have been better presented.

Thanks for the advices, I will do so ! I think when one of the choice will get something like 10 votes, I will publish the second episode, just to be sure some people see it.

Anyway, thanks a lot for your support, that's really cool !

Does not apply on a CYOA, and a video CYOA on that! Dont kill this novel concept on its birth, I want more and sure others too.
