I got a Quest 2 for Christmas. Never had a VR machine before and seems pretty cool so far.
I've just been dicking around in VR enviros so far so what real game should I try and play first?

My favorite VR game is Pistol Whip. I also really enjoy Swarm. If you have a good PC, I would suggest playing the free game Propagation VR, and if you like that then buy their full game, Propagation: Paradise Hotel. Job Simulator is silly fun. If you enjoy metal music, check out Ragnarock, it's a rhythm game with music from popular metal bands (my favorites being Alestorm and Gloryhammer; based Christopher Bowes...)
If you can link it to your pc I recommend the half life 2 vr mod
you can also sideload half life 1 and 2 and even doom 3
sideload the quest.
My mom had a Quest 2 so she gave it to me recently but it has fricking HORRIBLE god rays and if it's not in a very specific spot everything is blurry unless I'm directly looking at something. Does the Quest 3 solve those issues? I like VR but it's just so fricking obnoxious having to find that perfect spot and still having issues with god rays
>Does the Quest 3 solve those issues?
Yes, the pancake lenses mean the sweet spot is much bigger
The problem is the Quest 2 has been on sale for $200 making the Quest 3 2.5 times as expensive. New to VR I would say get the Quest 2. Because like 60% of people play their vr headset for a month and then it gathers dust.
That said you have the money then get the Quest 3 and build a pc for vr. You know 7800x3d, rtx 4090, 64gb of ram, 2tb nvme, $300 wifi 6 router, the works.
>> RTX 4090 for vr
>> he fell for the meme
There is not a single VR game you cant play in high settings with a 3060ti. I know because that’s exactly what i do.
>There is not a single VR game you cant play in high settings with a 3060ti. I know because that’s exactly what i do.
What resolution do you play at?
Even the index maxes out closer to 2560 than to 4k, and 2560x1440 is easily handled by a 3060ti
The Quest 2 is gonna quickly become outdated as new software and features get added which only support Quest 3.
In fact the first gameplay-affecting upgrade is coming next month with the Saints and Sinners Q3 update which will add a higher zombie count in open areas.
This isn't happening because the Quest 2 has a much bigger install base and right now is outselling the quest 3 because of these big sales.
>This isn't happening
They already implied Quest 3-only games would be coming out as soon as next year.
>"We don't have any specific Quest 3 exclusives, so everything that launches this holiday season until the end of the year will also be available on Quest 2"
The only games that are going to be Quest 3 exclusive are the mixed reality games. Not the VR ones.
If Meta didn't want Quest 3 exclusive VR games they wouldn't approve Quest 3 exclusive gameplay changes.
>everything is blurry
Thats modern VR in general. The issue with most of it is that the resolution is not quite there yet and if shit is not directly in your face, its a blurry mess.
Oh if you have a standalone you should play resident evil 4
>what real game should I try and play first
Try games that don't have you move via joystick or use teleports to move at first, ease yourself in.
try superhot, re4 and beat saber
Robo Recall
Based.
OP Google UEVR, it's a mod that should be coming out soon that let's you play practically any and all Unreal games in VR. My body is ready.
I just got mine last month. You can't go wrong with the free meta stuff like first steps and elixir. If you want to dive in and work on your motion sickness get red matter. Maybe you are like me and got some free games over the years that are vr compatible with the oculus pc store. Keep in mind the meta store is separate, but some games buying one gets you both. Depends on how good your pc is for pcvr.
Creed
my Going into games machine only came with the headset. It's pretty cool but I'm not really "into" the way I want to be, how do I get the rest of the setup
Not a game, but one of my favorite timekillers is Google Earth VR, being able to pop your head into street view and look around naturally in 360° is a fun way to see the world from home.
I'm not kidding.
Learning curve is insane but if 10yos can do it so can you.

You should update this pasta to include assassins creed and asgards wrath 2.
assassin's creed is probably my top game on quest right now but I'm also enjoying breachers
I've logged over 600 hours in Elite: Dangerous, all of them in VR.
I'm gonna repost my review post
What did you homosexuals buy on sale so far?
>Light Brigade
Overhyped roguelike, I'd only recommend it if you're finished with ITR as it has a similiar but worse gameplay loop
>I Expect you to die trilogy
Short but polished, the 3 pack is the max I would pay though
>Moss 1&2
Moss has aged incredibly well despite being from 2017, maybe aged better than Alyx, runs like shit though ran out 144hz but completely maxed out my GPU, have not found another game that did that without my CPU bottlenecking first
>A Fishermans Tale
A one hour scam. Literally 60 minutes.
The gimmick is putting your player model in the world space and skybox so it appears you're infinite, but it's just noclipping on a tf2 map into the skybox when you were 12 on tf_mario_kart
>Maskmaker,
Pretty good and a good amount of playtime but in the hub world the game spouts EU approved propaganda at you
>Not all cultures invented the wheel but that doesn't make them any less advanced than others
Yes it fricking does lmao
Everything on the Quest store is expensive.
I don't think a single game is more than 40% off for its holiday sale.
Is this a good deal on this bundle? Two of these games have been recommended here.
>Is this a good deal on this bundle?
If it doesn't include any of the DLC for the later two, probably not
It looks like it's just songs for Synth Riders and Ragna Rock.
Uh, it looks like Synth Riders base game includes 60 songs and Ragna Rock contains 30.
>It looks like it's just songs for Synth Riders and Ragna Rock
Yeah and the price of those add up
synth riders has official mod support that doesn't break on updates. frick beat saber.
ragnarock is ok for what it is but hard to get back to just drumming after the workout synth riders gives you.
mah homie
>synth riders has official mod support that doesn't break on updates
on Quest as well as PC?
a lot of quest symbols in the leaderboards of the custom songs, so probably.
don't have a quest so never looked into it myself. on pc you just dump the songs into a subfolder of the game, that's it.
Most of the good games are gone by now, but sometimes fanatical will do quest bundles.
https://www.fanatical.com/en/pick-and-mix/build-your-own-quest-vr-bundle
I got in early and got into the radius and ruins magus. But among the things still left, I hear amid evil vr is pretty good.
Just use the rookie sideloader, you fricking morons.
you fricking Black person I just said I didn't know about it
I do. Only reason why I kept the Quest 2.
Does it work with Quest 3 as well or is it fricked for now?
It supposedly work with Q3 too, but I don't have one, so I can't vouch for it.
Honey Select 2.
Superhot demo is free and really good to show off what VR is.
what are some of the least tech demo(i?)est games on steam? I know AW2 on quest is supposed to be a full on triple a title but is there anything else? Racing/flying simulators don't count because frick playing seated
>what are some of the least tech demo(i?)est games on steam?
Vertigo 2
No Man's Sky
Arizona Sunshine 2
Into the Radius
The 7th Guest VR
>Arizona Sunshine 2
Give it to me straight anon... soes the dangin heckin pupperino die or can I save him? This information is needed because I own a German Shephard and would cry like a b***h even though mine looks nothing like the one in the game.
>Arizona Sunshine 2
I would recommend you watch this before making the decision to buy it
I can and do expect a video game to have some level of jank, but I agree that the game shouldn't let you featherdust the zombies to kill them, a swing that gentle shouldn't register at all but that's still not getting to the meat of the issue.
Does the dog fricking die or not? It clearly gets fricked up in the trailer.
>Does the dog fricking die or not?
The Dog Lives
Thank you anon, if you're lying I will curse your existence and then cry because I know you've still won anyway.
not a redditgay just did the CD trail with my dog who is now passed on so any close relationship portrayed with dogs chokes me up
>Arizona Sunshine
anyone who suggests Arizona Sunshine, 1 or 2, is a VR shill and can't be trusted
Don't forget Bonelabs
I'm still mad that the game ended right as it was starting to get anywhere.
I think I literally finished bonelab in one sitting.
Bonelabs was literally a scam its just the original game but the story is basically removed. it feels like it should've been a free update to the original.
But they also recommended into the radius in the very same post, which is the closest thing to S.T.A.L.K.E.R we've got in VR and was an excellent looter fps. So their motives remain unclear.
they also suggested NMS as well which looks cool but plays like shit in both normal and VR mode
Didn't they improve VR mode earlier this year when it came to PSVR2?
maybe they did, point though is that the "gameplay" is going to consist of point your gun at objects, holding the trigger to melt them then collect orbs, it's practically a walking simulator with upgrades in between
There's left handed mode now. I think that it's pretty fun with the warning disablers mod. I'm doing the holiday expeditions right now which give a lot more direction to the game.
no man's sky vr is so fricking shit
into the radius is just as tedious but it's actually not annoying to play. it's just that i spent an entire vr session booting up the game and im back at my base where i was out last time i played and i unloaded my backpack and sorted it all and then by the time i was done i didn't feel like playing vr anymore. it's almost TOO immersive but i guess that's a good and bad thing.
the only vr experience i can't recommend enough is half life alyx. everything else is kind of an ugly duckling.
A broken clock is right twice a day
>Vertigo 2
>Into the Radius
In this case quite literally
Yeah I was in the threads at release
I remember seeing many anons flabbergasted that it was as short and half finished as it was and went into denial before seething anger at being scammed
>Still 4 hours long and complete abandonware a full year later
And people wonder why PC gamers don't buy new releases and wait for sales. People are making longer and higher quality mods for Alyx for free
Keep Hellsweeper on your radar and try it once you get used to movement in VR. Great game but it would probably make a new user projectile vomit.
Resident evil 4 vr
Get rookie sideloader.
Download all the native Quest games you want for free.
I recommend
>Blade and Soecery
>Beat Saber (with bmbf mod)
>Pistol Whip
>Walkabout Minigolf
>Pavlov
Also, get Steam Link (inside your Oculus headset) and connect to your PC wirelessly.
Alyx is recommended, just for the spectacle, but it's honestly kind of shit.
Google Earth in VR is fun.
Be careful of VR sickness. STOP playing IMMEDIATELY if you begin feeling unwell, or you will be completely destroyed. If you take frequent brakes, you should be fine.
rookie side loader?
Yes
I just got the quest 3 how did I not fricking know about this I bought like $60 worth of games already!
>I bought like $60 worth of games already!
So you bought 1-2 games? VR games are expensive outside Steam.
the oculus Christmas sell was actually pretty great got assassin's creed and breachers for less than $60
>Also, get Steam Link (inside your Oculus headset) and connect to your PC wirelessly.
Is that right? You don't need to buy that link cable to play PC games?
(I hadn't been playing that close attention to the quest before because I had a rift, before it was stolen in a home robbery.)
>You don't need to buy that link cable to play PC games?
Nope, all you need is a WiFi 6 router wired to your PC.
you can get the link cable if you just wanna stay charged while you
Much better to just drop powerbank in your pocket and connect it by usb. Wired is fricking shit.
Not even. I've got an ancient shit router which was like 20 usd back in the day, and it works well.
That's excellent news, thanks for saving me from getting it unnecessarily.
A cable can eventually be useful to charge as you play but you absolutely don't need one to connect to PC, and if you get one you may as well plug it into the wall instead of the PC
you can use USB C to stay charged and lower latency, but cable-free Wifi is kinda the whole point of the quest
Compound looks incredibly clean in VR, it's addicting and fun, plus it's silky smooth. Synth Riders is amazing fun if you're into rhythm games. Job/Vacation Simulator is fun and great for first-time experiences. Walkabout Mini Golf plays amazingly and has cool DLC areas to play golf in. Half-Life: Alyx on PC is essential, play it over Virtual Desktop or some other streaming app.
>Compound
Puke-inducing movement.
Can't play that for more than 20 min before gwtting really sick.
NTA but it's never given me a problem. Great game, for me it's the SMG.
>Compound
My homie, I wish more VR games went for this kind of artstyle and shooting mechanics
Locomotion (which is your character moving like walking or using a vehicle) can give nausea, that's normal
you just have to try a few minutes every day and you'll get used to it
When I first tried it my brain felt like shit the moment I moved but after trying around 10 minutes per day I got used to it in like a week or less, and now I can play for long periods without feeling sick
Also most games have teleporting so you don't have to deal with locomotion
I'm almost drunk enough to consider posting a walkabout minigolf room number here but luckily the few remaining brain cells told me otherwise
Is peaky blinders worth playing if I've never watched the show?
Well mate that depends innit, you better not be a fockin' racist ye?
A fully modded Skyrim VR is the best VR game/smut game for VR.
Prove it
>Engine is hard coded to run at 90hz
I can't go back after playing at 144hz for so long
With the constant crashes and a dragon killing everything in solitude, I lost any interest in continuing my playthrough
Half Life Alyx and Walking Dead Saints & Sinners are by far my favorite VR games. I also like Pavlov because you can download Call of Duty Zombies maps and play 1:1 VR ports of them which is great. Other than that, none have caught my attention.
>Walking Dead Saints & Sinners
Do any Indexgays have a control scheme for this they can recommend?
>Push the left stick in to run
Feels AWFUL to move with a pushed in stick, do consolegays really do this?
what other way would you do it anon you grip the controller to much to use the side buttons and the other buttons feel awkward to hold and walk.
I got some prescription lenses for $20 on aliexpress and the image looks very good
for anyone without 20/20 vision I recommend this to
by the way old games have lower res because they were made for weaker hardware, there's a $10 software called questgamesoptimizer that automatically upscales games, specially with the extra quest 3 power so games look much better
Anybody got their Q3 faster than estimated delivery date?
Looks like they already charged my card.
God I'm gonna fap so hard bros.... Downloading 100s gigs of porn as we speak...
