Konami was once again literally the last one to port their classic games to 8/9th gen platforms, like they were the last big publisher to switch to multiplatform development.
Because I always wanted a modern, quality native PC port of MGS1, 2 and 3 that worked without mods or fan patches on modern systems and I am now not going to get that. Instead they are releasing a barebones port that is locked to 720p for MGS2 and 3. And now publishers will know they can succesfully pull the same shit for other series missing from PC, increasing the likelihood that future ports are just as low effort.

The problem isn't even that these are half-assed ports, we already knew that's what we were going to get because that's what all these console game ports have been for the past 10 years. The real issue is this game will be released on Steam, get a single patch within the first few weeks to fix a minor bug, and not enhance the port, and then never be updated ever again; left festering on the store page as "the only way to play it on modern hardware" for morons. Ive seen this exact story too many times it's going to happen just like it always does.

If you don't mind the price they seem perfectly fine for a first time experience. They're the same as the PS3 / 360 remasters but with better resolution (and I assume a more stable frame rate). The remasters were missing minor things like less jungle foliage in certain cutscenes and had copyrighted minigames removed (a two minute hack n slash nightmare minigame, skateboarding and Ape Escape games, but they weren't even part of the games themselves, they were side shit you selected from the main menu).

Nah, this is definitely going to be worse. The Silent Hill ports had to slapped together by a small independent studio with a tight deadline, no source code and no support from Konami. It was destined to fail from day one due to terrible mismanagement and expectations.
The MGS ports are being made by internal Konami devs and they have a decade of feedback and hindsight on what NOT to do. The fact that they're just stretching the resolution instead of rendering the game at true 1080p is actual malice at this point.
If you buy and support this slop you need to be strung up. There is no excuse for this incompetence. They know they're giving you a slopjob and they're simply a majority of people aren't paying enough attention before they buy it.
