That doesn't strictly mean all romance is gone, it could still be a case of the romance being in another mechanic, some canon love sideplot or maybe there just isn't any in the game because of the story. But you won't be chatting with some girl 8 times then asking her out on the 9th go like in Persona games.
I guess I'll just cope that it's not 100% confirmed yet. Life changing adventure having no romance is the gayest shit. Not making the pixie your queen is even gayer.

Yeah, pretty much. But once you get an Archetype you can equip them to however many party members you want. They showed off how all party members could have the same Archetype equipped at once.
Also you get the Archetypes from building bonds with characters.
