Yeah, Metroid would never have random tiny collectables spread equidistantly throughout the game world that serve to do little more than increase a completion percentage and pad the runtime. Super Metroid would be a really shitty game if it followed such Ubisoft-tier design.
BotW/TotK fans I'm assuming, since old Zelda had a similar formula to Metroid. I agree that Metroid should not be open world though, needing to find items to progress and open up other new areas is kind of the core appeal.
